We had black cherry, rainbow sherbet, lemon custard, vanilla & coffee flavors throughout our group. All were enjoyed by everyone. The ice cream is not icy. The kids' and single sizes are generous servings and the line was long, but moved quickly. My only criticism is that they could use a dedicated cashier. There seemed to be some confusion about who was ringing up our order. Those employees could have been serving the next order instead of waiting for a turn at the register. Please remember to tip. These k
HOLY CAMOLY... Whoever told you that you can't have enough ice cream was wrong. A single scoop of ice cream here is hefty and massive... Very worth it! Had a family ice cream date and ended up getting the lemon custard (recommended by a neighbourhood mom) and my husband got a fudge and peanut butter scoop on a waffle cone. No complaints on our end. Enjoyed the taste and size of the ice cream and looking forward to trying new flavours while we're here in Ann Arbor. Service was also quick and friendly. Great
Irish mint and pirate treasure ice creams were delicious! Service was fast and friendly!
We waiting in line for 40 minutes to give this place a try. The line wrapped around the inside of the building and extended outside. Unfortunately, I don?t think the ice cream was worth the wait. Though it was good, it tasted just like average ice cream you can buy at the grocery store. Additionally, the line moved soo slow, with just 3 people working at a time. With the amount of business, they likely could?ve hired some more help for the busy evening. Finally, the place does not lend itself well for indoo
I was about to order 2 single cups for my kid and me. But once i saw one of them as like a mountain. I instantly cancelled another one. It?s crazy price and quality. Plus i love their donuts too. Soooo delicious. ;)
My favorite ice cream shop in Ann Arbor! Delicious flavors, with wide variety and enormous portions. The staff are friendly, helpful and patient. They also sell milkshake, donuts, coffee and many other items. I ordered one of my favorite favorite flavors, Black Cherry, which is rich and full of black cherries.
Went in early April and there was no line, the friendly worker let me try multiple flavors. I chose Irish Mint single scoop and OMG this portion size?!?! It was so delicious and not overly sweet at all, but I would like a clearer way to see the actual sizes before ordering lol
Popular spot with huge portion sizes, surprising selection of grocery items, and friendly staff. I love the little free library right outside! Our family members who have moved from Michigan always come back to Washtenaw Dairy for ice cream and a t-shirt on visits home!
Was looking for an ice-cream treat and got more than expected. The staff were really quick and friendly. The price was great for what we got. My kid said I need to hack Google so I can give them 6 stars. Still working on that so 5 will have to do for now.
My daughter has severe nut allergies and Washtenaw Dairy is one of the only places we can go to get her a treat for her birthday or during the summer. They are always so accommodating and open a new canister for her, they get a fresh scooper and wash their hands. I love that they keep all the flavors that contain nuts in one fridge so it makes it easier for me to narrow down which flavors we can get. We have had allergy reactions at other ice cream shops but NEVER had a reaction there. I am a customer for
They don't make their own ice cream The size is very generous and the price can not be beat. I ordered a single scoop cone. The girl serving me put two scoops on it. When I told her I could not eat that much ice cream, she took some off, she said this is a kids size. It was still more than I could eat, so she she ended with just one scoop on my cone. She said this is the baby. It was still a massive scoop and was only a $1.59 The part that disappoints me is that it is called Washtenaw Dairy. For a place th
Iconic ice cream parlor, big scoops, a few tables inside, picnic tables outside. Sells standard dairy groceries and their world famous doughnuts. Staff is always kind, patient and efficient.
The neighborhood ice cream joint with old-time charm. The prices are old-school too, i.e., cheap by Ann Arbor standards. Staying with the times, they've started offering a couple of vegan ice creams in addition to two vegan sorbets. Servings are enormous, there's no shame in a grown-up ordering a kids-size cone (and they won't mind). Avoid WD on the occasions where it's nice out and there's a big event in town (Hash Bash, football games, last day of public school, etc.) as the line will be literally out th
Huge portions, pre-inflation pricing, best ice cream in town. They also sell cold brew, donuts, alcohol and more! So much good to say about them. They?re half the price and double the quality of Blank Slate, it?s not even close
Best ice cream in town ever!
I got the single size of rainbow sherbet and it was fantastic! The ice cream sizes are very very generous so unless you are really hungry the kids size bowl would probably be a good size. Super friendly staff!
Ice cream was amazing and we'll priced, they also have donuts! I dropped my cone and the owner offered to replace it and talked to us for a few minutes, highly recommend!! They also have a couple non dairy options, my friend recommends the lemon sorbet. Great local place with very short line...skip the blank slate line ??
Tell-tale sign of a true Ann Arborite - they prefer Washtenaw Dairy over Blank Slate. I can't say I'm there yet...but after 3 years of living here, it's actually winning me over. It just has that local vibe that's nice and the prices are great and they give you so much ice cream!
Washtenaw Dairy is an amazing local business that truly has the absolute best ice cream. I'm addicted to Irish Mint and ate more of it than I care to admit last summer! They also have "Pup Cups" for pooches!
Ice cream is the best! Fave neighborhood hangout especially on warm summer days! If you've never been here, the scoops are GENEROUS in size for a very reasonable price. Tip the kids working the counter! Super nice crew!???????? Most recent pic is "kids" size of lemon custard in a cup and black cherry in a waffle cone! Sooo good! Lots of flavors to choose from...sorbet to ice cream and even a no sugar option!
This place is cute and their donuts were fairly solid, if a bit dense. I was a little disappointed that they don?t really make their own ice cream or dairy products at all - they just carry other company?s stuff. So, we went up the street to Blank Slate Creamery. When I travel to small towns, I hunt down local places that make all their own stuff.
Definitely a staple ice cream shop for A2! They are always packed when I am there but everyone is always so kind and efficient. They keep the line moving along and really work like a well-oiled machine. I love the tucked away from Main Street location too. It feels more old school and makes me nostalgic for my childhood ice cream shop but in all the best ways! The ice cream of course is top notch and I love their specialty flavors they bring in! Their social media crew is awesome and responsive too!
Tasty and satisfying for the single ice cream here! Best ice cream experience ever! Creamy and not overly sweet! Highly recommend!
The ice cream was amazing - it tasted really good and it was creamy! We ordered a single scoop and the size was generous too! The prices are very competitive and it was nice to sit and enjoy the ice cream outside on the seats made available. This will be my ice cream spot whenever I return to Ann Arbor. The staff was friendly also, and the service was quite fast considering the numerous customers that were there at once.
This isn't just an ice cream shop! There are a few grocery items available Donuts and coffee, my parents loved the shakes! A single scoop helping is almost like a pint of ice cream. This is an Ann Arbor staple and hopefully always will be park near or far it's a lovely walk either way. In the summertime it's very nice to walk down the street to Bob elementary school and let the kids play while you enjoy some ice cream. I will always love going here and frequent in the summer often the staff moves quickly! S
While visiting the town, found this highly rated Ice cream shop, and it did not disappoint! Had their lemon custard, was delicious! Portion size is awesome! With Covid found they had sanitizer and safe social distancing measures in place for the safety of the customers. Great job!
Great ice cream shop with a lot of varieties and good price! Caramel pretzel crunch flavor is my favorite, and the donuts here are delicious too! The indoor decors are also pretty cute.
Such a classic store! Amazing flavors and one of those places that doesn't skimp on the scoops. Takes you back in time a bit in all the best ways.
This place serves great ice cream in very large portions. They also sell many other items in this little store. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Their cones are huge and very generous. I felt bad because I can barely finish one. Ice cream quality is alright, it's not as creamy/whole as Hagen Daz, and it's flavors are rather generic. But for family treat and summer fun, this dairy is way better than Michigan Creamery and Ben and Jerry's on state street.
visiting from out of town and got the Chip Caramel Pretzel Crunch and man that ice cream is pretty damn good ! the salty pretzel mixed with the caramel vanilla ice cream is a delicious contrast. the staff was generous with the scoops and were very friendly. plus they sell great beer ! would come back here !
Delicious flavors and friendly staff! Expect lines during busy times, but the ice cream is worth the wait!
09.16.2023 after big game day from Michigan Vs bowling green at 10.55pm, I asked kid cone on left side one. Right side is my Fri ate it. I haven?t eaten mine. I am usual customer and they give me single cone which is three scoops. The 2 scoops are fine but the last scoop is not a scoop at all. He asked for single cone fee instead of kid cone fees. As regular customer, I don?t want to argue anymore. However, this is like scamming and not giving proper ratio. Not anymore as a regular customer.
Honestly some of the best ice cream I've had. The ice cream is sweet, but not like they dumped extra sugar in there, but that the milk itself was sweeter. The cows must be very happy ??. Serving sizes are very generous for the price. They've been busy the last few times I've gone, but it's been worth the wait. I love the aesthetic, reminds me of small town restaurants from years ago.
Truly the best vanilla icecream I have ever had. Go here multiple times a month always worth it. Kids is definitely a big enough size but I love that they give large portions for pretty cheap!
Offers sundaes, shakes, floats, cones, etc. Very yummy Strohs ice cream with lots of options. Non-dairy options! Staff very kind and helpful. Best ice cream prices around! Strohs ice cream, donuts, dairy products, coffee, wine/beer and other misc items sold here. Outside and inside seating area. Street parking.
I was having a really bad week and I came in on a whim to treat myself to ice cream. The young lady gave me a very generous scoop of ice cream. It caught me by surprise and it really made my day!
Easily the best ice cream in Ann Arbor. The staff are really nice and friendly. The atmosphere is straight out a kids story book. A neighborhood centered ice cream shop that oddly sells lottery tickets and miscellaneous groceries but I can?t complain. The ice cream is so good.
Good ice cream with many varieties to choose and large portions at a good price. Always busy for a reason!
The Superman ice cream is a delicious flavor bomb! There's so many unique tastes that blend together to form a rich desert ?? The quality was so good for only $4! What a steal! ?? It was definitely better than a bunch of other pricey ice cream shops around Ann arbor. ??% recommend and will be coming back to try all the other flavors ^-^
I don?t know about the ice cream but the donuts here are truly hidden treasures! Delicious and cheap - truly satisfying! I come here just for the donuts
It's just a perfect little place! They fit such a wide variety of things in a cozy little space. I go every day I work. The service is always friendly. Wonderful ice cream and donuts, grab and go breakfast, lunch, beer, ect...
Neighborhood hangout. In the morning the place to cross paths with UM athletics coaches & staff. On 1 January they host A Very Nice Run & presentation of the Michigan Runner of the Year award (which I currently design as Co-Editor of Michigan Runner News). Their donuts are said to fuel some great athletes.
Absolutely loved this place. We were only here for the weekend and we stopped in 3 times. The place is very cool, old fashioned ice cream shop. The folks behind the counter were super nice and helpful. We stopped in and got 2 dozen donuts. I can't believe how good they were and how inexpensive. My favorite was the apple cider donut! Microwaved for 12 seconds and it was unreal! I had THREE! Stopped in again for coffee and snacks. Finally came back for Ice cream. Everyone loved the flavors they got.
Great place for donuts and coffee in the morning! Delicious food and fun atmosphere.
Great place. Tasty ice cream. Very nice staff.
Heard about this place from a friend and wanted to visit from couple of weeks. The place didn't disappoint me, it was lovely with so many donuts and ice cream flavors. Loved the donuts and milkshake here. Highly recommend this place.
Great place to get ice cream. Finding a parking spot can be difficult during peak time
Washtenaw dairy has the best ice creams. The flavors are incredibly tasty, but my personal favorite is the mint and cherry combination ? it?s a true delight. The staff here is so friendly and welcoming, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. If you?re on the hunt for the perfect ice cream spot with a warm atmosphere, look no further. This place is a must-visit for any ice cream lover!
Great ice cream I got the chocolate chip cookie dough pint and my wife got the lemon custard cone. I couldn't really help comparing it with something like Ben & Jerry's. It lived up to B&J, but overall, I felt as though the taste of the ice cream in B&J was slightly better. Would definitely come back to try another flavor. Great place to check out in the summer.
Very good ice cream and give portions at a great price. Good variety of flavors too.
Love the place, but too many people. Need to find a quieter place. ??
This ice cream shop is trully one of the most goated ones in Ann Arbor. The ice cream is very good! They have a lot of flavours. The donuts are also very delicious. Outside of ice cream and donuts they have plenty of alcoholic beverages, everyday needs (milk, eggs). The vibe in the cafe/shop is also very cozy since a lot of people come here and just sit and enjoy. The only thing that I can comment on is I think they should renew/ renovate the place a little bit. Anywayyy the service was so nice omg??????gen
Love this place. Nice people, great ice-cream. It great to see some things don't change.
I have been coming here since I was a kid in the 1970?s so I am very familiar with Washtenaw Dairy. It is a great place. They have always given huge servings of ice cream, even with a single which is supposed to be three scoops. Recently, however, I?ll often order a single and only get two scoops. It is particularly bad when I come with others who order separately and we all have varying amounts of ice cream for our singles. It seems to depend on the server. There needs to be more consistency or price
Really great place. Super tasty ice cream at a pretty good price. In addition, they were very considerate of my peanut allergy which is pretty rare to find at ice cream places!
People serving the ice cream were brilliant and so polite and helpful. Really loved trying the butter pecan which was a new flavour for me! Found the texture perfect
I must admit i have never been here before but my customer brings donuts in for us all the time. I might have 1 normally from anywhere else but i could sit and eat every variety in the box when he brings these in. Especially the coconut. These people and my customer Sam make my life better.
The place was clean and the service was great, but if you want truly delicious ice cream and donuts, look elsewhere. Coffee is normally my favorite flavor, but theirs didn't even taste anything close to it. Plus, they gave me way too much to finish on my own. Quantity over quality.
Really delicious and great customer service. Really enjoyed the ice cream, so much so I was only able to get a picture after I?d eaten a bunch :)
What a fantastic local institution! This place has been around for many decades, and the locals love it. One of the best things is that the scoops of ice cream are absolutely ginormous! A single scoop is definitely more than enough to share between 2 adults. In fact, I usually get the kids size scoop, which is also gigantic. I recommend the blueberry waffle zone ice cream, or the moose tracks. You can ask for a small sample of several flavors prior to purchasing, which I would highly recommend if you?ve
Just the best old school ice cream shop, fabulous staff who work hard to help every customer, and delicious ice cream! Often go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and happy. Thank you!!
Didn?t think it would be so good because it wasn?t homemade, however the flavors were absolutely delicious. They also give you a ridiculous amount of ice cream for the price, it?s quite insane. Highly recommend.
Really good. And considering what a rip most things are in ann arbor, not a bad deal either, $4 for a big 1 scoop waffle cone.
Oh my gosh, this ice cream shop. I was only in Ann Arbor for a day but managed to stop by and was so impressed, huge portions and for such reasonable prices. I got a single and it was the most ice cream I've ever got! Their doughnut was also fantastic, just what I needed. Get the raspberry cheesecake ice cream! I wish I had taken a picture, but it didn't last long enough...I'll have to go back soon :)
The scoop sizes are absolutely gigantic. Don't make the mistake of ordering anything larger that the kid size, unless you're sharing. Considering that the portions exist on a completely different scale than what I consider normal, the prices are very good. Worth a stop on a hot summer day.
Always enjoy getting donuts here for any early morning work function. They are always prepared no matter what! Donuts are the best in Ann Arbor!
Best bang for buck ice cream shop in AA, but they don't make their own ice cream flavors. Pretty much all of these ice cream flavors can be bought at any grocery store. Donuts are great here though! Would recommend these for anyone looking for a fresh sweet treat
Local ice cream shop with a wide variety of flavors. Everything seems fairly priced. Read the good reviews and swung by as I passed town on my way to Detroit. There was a long line out the door, but it moved quickly. The ordering process was a little confusing, as the eager staff tried to take my order before the line had gotten to the ice cream freezers, so I wasn't sure what the options were and held the line up scanning all the flavors.
Really great donuts that are perfect texture and crispness without being too sweet that are also very affordable. Didn?t try the ice cream but my family members did and they loved it. They have a nice kids size scoop that is perfect portion for little ones. Highly recommend!
Has always been my favorite ice cream shop for 25 years. I went for my favorite ice cream and learned it was JUST discontinued. I was so sad to hear this as I was looking forward to having the peanut butter moosetracks. Please bring it back!
Best tasting Pink Peppermint flavored ice cream cones anywhere. Hands down, still the most generous sized servings of ice cream that I?ve ever had !! Great quick service. And definitely brings back wonderful childhood memories ??I ?? WD?? It?s still a ?must? to stop in for a cone, any time of year, any time that I am in A2 ??????????
Had to stop in here for some ice cream since my Dad grew up going to this place. The service was excellent - a huge group was in front of me taking their time choosing flavors, but the other employee working the counter quickly and efficiently helped me while they were deciding. The superman ice cream was delicious and I was seriously not expecting to get that much ice cream for a "single scoop". I'll definitely be back on my next trip to Ann Arbor!
Great customer service! Loved fill the Stanley event!
This was our first time coming to Washtenaw Dairy, and we had a great experience! The people working there were friendly and helpful, and the ice cream was great! Also a great price for the quality/quantity of ice cream served. They have a nice seating area as well along the street. We will definitely be returning to try the other flavors!
This place is an Ann Arbor icon known for its exceptional customer service, generous scoops, and abundant ingredients. Their chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is truly unparalleled, brimming with an abundance of cookie dough chunks. As a devoted Spartan fan, I must admit that this place surpasses even the renowned MSU Dairy Store.
Best Ice Cream in town!! Love their sorted Donuts too!
I love this place. They have really good ice cream and the best cookies and cream that has huge chunks of cookies in it. Yes its a little expensive but they give you a lot of ice cream and it's worth it. I would give it five stars but every time I go they give me the wrong size. I order a small and they give me a baby every time and that's with multiple different servers like I know I'm fat ?? It's still a lot of ice cream in the baby so it's not that bad just annoying.
Came here with some friends who were showing me some old college haunts. We came in and it was bustling, but the line was served fast. I saw donuts on the menu for a good price, so I ordered half of dozen. They also had an ice coffee, so I had that as well. Both were of good quality and reasonably priced. I enjoyed eating donuts while exploring the rest of this city. The coffee was well brewed. 5/5.
When we got to Washenaw dairy, all of the workers said hi, how are you, etc. ?? I really love Washtenaw Dairy!!! ??
We went and had an excellent time. Lots of flavors to choose from, the employees were helpful in identifying gluten free items, as well as flavors they personally recommended. It was a really nice time, not too busy, and a relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend and will be going back again and again.
Worth the wait!! You may be there 10-15min but moves fast. Cookies and cream best one ever ??
Best. Ice cream shop. Ever!! I'm so glad I discovered Washtenaw Dairy a year ago. It quickly became my favorite ice cream shop. Generous portions, great selection of flavors, and inexpensive compared to other places. They have a great system going during the pandemic. Anyone who goes to the dairy is in for a treat, whether it's for their delicious ice cream, donuts, and more!
Always cheerful! Great customer service!! Looooove the ice cream! I?ve been coming here since I was a little girl, now I bring my kids!
We stopped here on the way home from work and this was a single serve! OH MY GOODNESS! SO MUCH ICE CREAM! We found out that they also have dairy free ice cream that is coconut base. They also have Sorbet as well. We also got a donut to try! Not bad at all! The wait wasn't super long, so that was nice. Everyone was super friendly!
Great ice cream, fast service, and super-friendly people. We had coffee, strawberry, and non-dairy chocolate ice cream and loved them all (coffee and strawberry more though). Price is also reasonable. Having ice cream here will definitely become our tradition!
Always fabulous ice cream and shakes! Been going here for years and will continue
This is more than an ice cream shop. It's true. There's no gelato-hand-made from scratch. I think the idea of this store is being a reference shop, a meeting point for the community. A memory that is built at early ages. This is a store to allow everybody to eat a big ice cream cone even if you tip over and smash your ice cream in the floor. This is a store to order great, cheap donuts when you are a student and need that sugary rush. It's for getting that grocery staples you forgot bringing from the superm
