The Grumpy Egg Cafe

Had lunch with a friend while passing through on a roadtrip. I had the breakfast bowl, my husband had the mexican hamburger, our daughter had the grilled cheese, and my friend had the BLT. The coffee was nice and strong and our food came out quickly. We arrived 45 minutes before they closed and we received great service! This is a must when you are in Thornton, CO!!

This place rocks! If you haven't eaten here, get in your car and go! You're going to love this family owned and operated squat and gobble on the north side, open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. Counter service with a self-serve coffee and water refill station and all the condiments. Delicious food made with love by happy people. My new number one breakfast destination!

This place had a line out the door. It was a very short wait, I ordered the steak and eggs. I was told there would be about a 15 minute wait on it and I was ok with that. They sat me 5 minutes later I had my food. GREAT JOB ALL. The employees were helping clear tables run food and take orders without losing a smile! Keep it up. Give this place your breakfast cash:)

We love this cute little breakfast spot. The green chili is fantastic, with the perfect seasoning ratio and just enough of a kick. I love the smothered breakfast bowl and my husband likes the smothered burrito. And there are always the delicious donuts. We highly recommend it

I like this place, kind of an old school diner with farmers hanging out and chating. I love sitting by them and hearing the banter that goes on. Food was good too and the coffee definitely worth a return trip. Leave your fancy clothes at home please, bib overalls encouraged.

Hidden in plain site!! I've visited the farmers supply store next door and we'll as the ice cream place but I never realized this place was there. Over rated place. Walked in and the teenagers working were rude. We?ve never been here before and we?re unsure of the process. You order at the counter then they bring the food. Mediocre diner food nothing to brag about. Then they ask for a tip! For what?! You?re not serving us?! There?s a million workers here and no one can take an order. Don?t waste your money.

Cute locally owned restaurant in the Thornton, CO area. Food well seasoned and service quick for a late Sat Am breakfast. The donuts and pastries are a nice benefit too.

Great place to go get breakfast. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. It?s self seating with no server You can sit and enjoy your food without being rushed. Great place to meet and catch up with someone.

This place is meh! Food is just ok not much flavor going on. We got classic breakfast and biscuits and gravy. Eggs were cooked as requested but lacked any flavor, potatoes were bland. Biscuits and gravy were flavorless. Never got the water I asked for. No one serves you, you have to clean your own table when you leave. I can do that at home. Won?t be back, much better places to go in the area.

On vacation in this area, googled breakfast options and came upon ?The Grumpy Egg?. I was pleased with everything!!! The staff was extremely kind & helpful. The food was very good. The restaurant is Very clean and adorably decorated!

I went to the grumpy egg Cafe last Sunday and the food was really good all the staff was very friendly, the only thing that was weird to me is that nobody takes your order at the table, if you want to order you have to order at the front counter and you have to pay before you even seat down, then they take the food to the table but if you want something else you have to stand up to the front counter again but I have a good experience after all.

The Grumpy Egg (formerly Daylight Donuts) is our weekend staple for breakfast. Good food. Good service. The smothered breakfast burrito and the country benedict are fantastic. I just wish they had Omelettes!

Clearly I was enjoying my donuts as most of them are gone, however buried under a layer of vanilla icing I found this piece of black spongey material. Not a welcome surprise, glad I didn't eat whatever it is by mistake.

We didnt realize we came in pretty close to closing time and they were cleaning the fryers. No fried food available due to this. We still opted to order burgers with no fries. They surprised us and found a way to make us french fries still. Delocious burgers and the freshest fries! This family owned restaurant will continue to have our business. Love them!!!

I ordered a Doordarsh order from here today and ended up having to call the store to fix something on the order. Customer service was 11/10! So friendly and helpful! The biscuits and gravy are simple but delightful and the biscuits are super soft (not dry at all). Breakfast sandwich was really good as well and I appreciated the customization options. For sure would recommend this place for anyone wanting a quick, nicely priced breakfast!

I've been ordering from Grumpy Egg, for about 1 and a half. I never leave reviews or comments but the other day I saw a woman in Tiktok, no kidding saying that she just moved to Thornton, Colorado from New York. And needed a place for breakfast. So, I told her about The Grumpy Egg. I told her about the freshness of the sourdough toast and the eggs being cooked perfectly, not to mention the bacon actually being made extra crispy like I love it. The prices are great and the people who work there are Awesome.

My fianc? and I stumbled upon this place while heading home, and it's truly unique. We like the self-service concept ? no waiters, just get in line, place your order, and find a table yourself. The food was perfectly portioned, and the efficiency of clearing your own dishes made the experience even more enjoyable. I would rate our experience 5 stars. This was our first time ordering from this restaurant and we ordered off DoorDash. We got home and the order was wrong, so we called and the manager fixed the order right away and went above and beyond and brought it to our door! Delicious food highly recommend!!!!

If you like a small Town diner with simple food and people chatting, I think you would like this place. It's pretty basic food but it was all fine. I didn't love their coffee and there were no options for any kind of fancy espresso drinks. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table but then you also have to bus your own table. One annoying thing was that card payments were prompted to tip between 15 and 25% when it's a very limited service type of place. Prices are reasonable.

Hey we really like this place, I like the way that you go up to the counter and order and then they bring your food to you and it's kind of like fast food meets sit-down restaurant delivery to your table. The food is great here! What I don't like is the bottled drinks vs the fountain drinks, so unfortunately you can't get drink refills. I wish they would replace the refrigerator for the bottled drinks, with a touch screen drink machine like Wendy's and Chipotle have. As it would fit in its place. Edit to reply: I ordered this as delivery through an app, so no I didn?t put your worker?s health at risk by driving there and asking them to eat a donut I had already been eating from - why would you suggest that?? My chocolate donut tasted like acetone & had to be thrown straight in the trash. Apparently this is because they are going against food standards and reusing icing for multiple days, allowing an acetone taste to develop. Hard no ever ordering from here again.

Would give zero stars if I could, honestly overheard coworkers being racist to the only Asian girl that works there. Bad experience today. My burrito was great though. It is extremely difficult to talk to anyone after you order. Very claustrophobic in there. My wife had an issue with her food, we asked twice about it but nothing happened . We finished our food and left before it was resolved. Probably won't be coming back for a while.

This place has always been a good experience. We ordered a few burritos for pick up & arrived within the time specified. The order hadn't been made yet & we had to wait just a bit, but the ladies at the front made it right by giving us the burritos free of charge. This place isn't exactly a good breakfast place. My girlfriend's pancake was a sponge texture, not amount of syrup made it better. Been here a few times for breakfast. Extremely basic breakfast menu which is good for those who are seeking something little more simple. The breakfast potatoes have always been extremely undercooked everytime we have gone. Also, when we ordered the eggs Benedict, poached eggs were not an option- had to go with fried instead. I really like this place for breakfast. Fast, reasonable prices for the healthy portions, and good coffee which I can refill. They get my bacon just right, not too crispy and not too soft. My daughter and I both found hairs in our food, which was only somewhat good to begin with. The teenage staff was unprofessional on many counts. The cashier was dismissive and rude and leaning on the counter the entire time she was taking our order.
