Had lunch with a friend while passing through on a roadtrip. I had the breakfast bowl, my husband had the mexican hamburger, our daughter had the grilled cheese, and my friend had the BLT. The coffee was nice and strong and our food came out quickly. We arrived 45 minutes before they closed and we received great service! This is a must when you are in Thornton, CO!!
This place rocks! If you haven't eaten here, get in your car and go! You're going to love this family owned and operated squat and gobble on the north side, open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. Counter service with a self-serve coffee and water refill station and all the condiments. Delicious food made with love by happy people. My new number one breakfast destination!
This place had a line out the door. It was a very short wait, I ordered the steak and eggs. I was told there would be about a 15 minute wait on it and I was ok with that. They sat me 5 minutes later I had my food. GREAT JOB ALL. The employees were helping clear tables run food and take orders without losing a smile! Keep it up. Give this place your breakfast cash:)
We love this cute little breakfast spot. The green chili is fantastic, with the perfect seasoning ratio and just enough of a kick. I love the smothered breakfast bowl and my husband likes the smothered burrito. And there are always the delicious donuts. We highly recommend it
Go here twice a month for a breakfast meeting with my business partner. Great breakfast food. Love the doughnuts, too. Excellent service. Seems to be family run.
This is not mc'ds. This is real food. No preservatives are needed. LOL, family owned and operated by a family that serves and cooks with ?? love. Need I say more?
I like this place, kind of an old school diner with farmers hanging out and chating. I love sitting by them and hearing the banter that goes on. Food was good too and the coffee definitely worth a return trip. Leave your fancy clothes at home please, bib overalls encouraged.
Hidden in plain site!! I've visited the farmers supply store next door and we'll as the ice cream place but I never realized this place was there. Upon arrival I was greeted by this gorgeous young lady who took my order and walked me thru their menu. I got #8 with a side of potatoes. After ordering you sit yourself while they cook your food. It didn't take long for food preparation. It looked amazing. Biscuits and gravy were superb, eggs bacon. Potatoes were served on a separate plate. My only displeasure w
Cute little place but so not worth it. Pancakes were stale bricks eggs were a sheet of rubber. You pay and tip before you eat. Just hit the McDonald's down the road. 10oz of bottle orange juice was nearly $4.00.
Over rated place. Walked in and the teenagers working were rude. We?ve never been here before and we?re unsure of the process. You order at the counter then they bring the food. Mediocre diner food nothing to brag about. Then they ask for a tip! For what?! You?re not serving us?! There?s a million workers here and no one can take an order. Don?t waste your money.
Donuts are tasty. Other food was not very good. The Eggs Benedict was sad. Lumpy hollandaise. Rubbery English muffin. Bland biscuits and gravy. Maybe there?s other stuff on the menu that?s good, but we did not find it.
Prices went UP Proportions went DOWN ALWAYS love eating here. Cam in today and saw prices went up. Oh well I love the food I'll pay and the gotta do what they have to to afford this economy. HOWEVER, my burrito bowl is usually always filled with nice chunks of fluffy eggs. Today I had 2 decent pieces of egg. Its mostly potato. Grumpy egg= grumpy potato We are missing the eggs.
Cute locally owned restaurant in the Thornton, CO area. Food well seasoned and service quick for a late Sat Am breakfast. The donuts and pastries are a nice benefit too.
First time here and their food was great and supper filling. They had a good selection on their menu and the Donuts looked Amazing. We will be back for sure.
Reasonable prices, phenomenal food lovely service!
Great place to go get breakfast. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. It?s self seating with no server You can sit and enjoy your food without being rushed. Great place to meet and catch up with someone.
This place is meh! Food is just ok not much flavor going on. We got classic breakfast and biscuits and gravy. Eggs were cooked as requested but lacked any flavor, potatoes were bland. Biscuits and gravy were flavorless. Never got the water I asked for. No one serves you, you have to clean your own table when you leave. I can do that at home. Won?t be back, much better places to go in the area.
On vacation in this area, googled breakfast options and came upon ?The Grumpy Egg?. I was pleased with everything!!! The staff was extremely kind & helpful. The food was very good. The restaurant is Very clean and adorably decorated!
Great breakfast, steak is nice and tender with eggs and potatoes. My wife & I enjoyed today! Delicious!! They offer free donuts prior to closing at Noon. They are closed on Mondays.?? Thank you.
This restaurant was a hidden gem and such a great find and the customer service alone will make us return. The green chili was absolutely delicious. Thank you for a great experience.
I went to the grumpy egg Cafe last Sunday and the food was really good all the staff was very friendly, the only thing that was weird to me is that nobody takes your order at the table, if you want to order you have to order at the front counter and you have to pay before you even seat down, then they take the food to the table but if you want something else you have to stand up to the front counter again but I have a good experience after all.
The Grumpy Egg (formerly Daylight Donuts) is our weekend staple for breakfast. Good food. Good service. The smothered breakfast burrito and the country benedict are fantastic. I just wish they had Omelettes!
First time going here and I really enjoyed it. The food was amazing. Didn't feel rushed at all which was nice since some places feel like they just want to turn tables and make money. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this place
This is delicious! Worth the wait time, which isn't long really. The prices are decent and the food actually comes out hot. My mother and I got the smothered breakfast bowl and dang, plenty of food for leftovers. Very good.
A Breakfast Haven I stumbled upon this hidden gem quite by accident, and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a warm, inviting atmosphere that reminded me of my grandmother's kitchen. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon was simply intoxicating. The menu was a delightful assortment of classic breakfast favorites, each one executed to perfection. I opted for the biscuits and gravy, and it was the most exquisite I've ever tasted. The biscuits were perfectly cooked, the
Great food, friendly staff. I'm a regular and this is my go-to when I'm looking for breakfast with a small town diner type of atmosphere. Steak and eggs is awesome.
Clearly I was enjoying my donuts as most of them are gone, however buried under a layer of vanilla icing I found this piece of black spongey material. Not a welcome surprise, glad I didn't eat whatever it is by mistake.
Nice little local breakfast joint, killer donuts, breakfast burrito is good as well as many other things in the menu
I've been coming here since it was daylight doughnuts while the name has changed. It's still the same great food and friendly neighborhood atmosphere. The smothered breakfast burrito is great!
I love to eat breakfast here my fav is steak and egg ?? so if you like old fashioned American breakfast you should try grumpy egg coffee plus they also have donuts ?? I am also influencer you can follow me on social media for more place to see and life styling IG : adventureffect TikTok:foodtravelfitness ??????
Great food. Order at the counter and take a seat. Inexpensive and great fritters
Best owners and amazing employees. Great food and excellent service.
Seems like they went across the street to king soopers and got canned corned beef hash to cook and serve. Biscuits and gravy tasted like flour. Very bland food, nothing special.
Can I suggest you give people cutlery in their to go orders or is that just a New York thing?
Hello so I gave this a five star because the food service was five star and a service was also five star and the atmosphere was also five stuff so I gave everything a five star just for your service thank you for listening to me
We didnt realize we came in pretty close to closing time and they were cleaning the fryers. No fried food available due to this. We still opted to order burgers with no fries. They surprised us and found a way to make us french fries still. Delocious burgers and the freshest fries! This family owned restaurant will continue to have our business. Love them!!!
Best breakfast. I enjoy the breakfast every time i come. Thanks to Eddie and the Family.
I ordered a Doordarsh order from here today and ended up having to call the store to fix something on the order. Customer service was 11/10! So friendly and helpful! The biscuits and gravy are simple but delightful and the biscuits are super soft (not dry at all). Breakfast sandwich was really good as well and I appreciated the customization options. For sure would recommend this place for anyone wanting a quick, nicely priced breakfast!
I've been ordering from Grumpy Egg, for about 1 and a half. I never leave reviews or comments but the other day I saw a woman in Tiktok, no kidding saying that she just moved to Thornton, Colorado from New York. And needed a place for breakfast. So, I told her about The Grumpy Egg. I told her about the freshness of the sourdough toast and the eggs being cooked perfectly, not to mention the bacon actually being made extra crispy like I love it. The prices are great and the people who work there are Awesome.
Love this place! Great food and prices. I?ve been coming here for a while now and it?s the same everytime. They have great attitude and always friendly. Definitely recommend to family and friends
My fianc? and I stumbled upon this place while heading home, and it's truly unique. We like the self-service concept ? no waiters, just get in line, place your order, and find a table yourself. The food was perfectly portioned, and the efficiency of clearing your own dishes made the experience even more enjoyable. I would rate our experience 5 stars. The delicious food and unique experience and efficient dining spot.
This was our first time ordering from this restaurant and we ordered off DoorDash. We got home and the order was wrong, so we called and the manager fixed the order right away and went above and beyond and brought it to our door! Delicious food highly recommend!!!!
If you like a small Town diner with simple food and people chatting, I think you would like this place. It's pretty basic food but it was all fine. I didn't love their coffee and there were no options for any kind of fancy espresso drinks. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table but then you also have to bus your own table. One annoying thing was that card payments were prompted to tip between 15 and 25% when it's a very limited service type of place. Prices are reasonable.
I'm a caregiver and bring my client here 4 times a week for breakfast, he loves it and so do I! They have good food and a great atmosphere. Every single employee is personable and just over all accommodating. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that eats food ??
Grumpy Egg Cafe was outstanding. Fresh food with great service! Just what I was looking for breakfast! Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Exactly what you want in your local neighborhood cafe. Bring your family and friends. Discount for cash as well.
This place gets packed. I love their food it's very mom and pop, not your average chain food breakfast. They also make incredible donuts.
Hey we really like this place, I like the way that you go up to the counter and order and then they bring your food to you and it's kind of like fast food meets sit-down restaurant delivery to your table. It was a nice experience not having waitstaff come up and constantly ask questions. I'm not opposed to that it just was a nice change. There is no wait staff in a traditional sense. All of that is handled at the front counter when you go in. The food was good the staff was happy and the bathrooms were c
This is a GREAT spot for breakfast/lunch! Food is delicious, and the portions are generous plus it's affordable. Bring cash.
The food is great here! What I don't like is the bottled drinks vs the fountain drinks, so unfortunately you can't get drink refills. I wish they would replace the refrigerator for the bottled drinks, with a touch screen drink machine like Wendy's and Chipotle have. As it would fit in its place. When they do then I'll give them 5 stars.
Edit to reply: I ordered this as delivery through an app, so no I didn?t put your worker?s health at risk by driving there and asking them to eat a donut I had already been eating from - why would you suggest that?? My chocolate donut tasted like acetone & had to be thrown straight in the trash. Apparently this is because they are going against food standards and reusing icing for multiple days, allowing an acetone taste to develop. Hard no ever ordering from here again.
Would give zero stars if I could, honestly overheard coworkers being racist to the only Asian girl that works there. Completely unprofessional and clearly seeing another review from another customer saying the same thing is not ok, I was in disbelief that someone had already addressed this. This place is terrible would not recommend, the owner is horrible.
Recently moved to the area and fell into here one morning for a bite. Great vibes from the aesthetic, amazing food and awesome service, I generally have no feed back other than positive. It?s an amazing place to bring your family and other visitors when they come into town. My parents when they visited ate here 5 of their 7 days here.
Ordered hand held burrito - to go so the atmosphere rating doesn't mean much. The good news: Good size burrito, fair price (got a discount for using cash), burrito was ready when I got there, lady at the register was nice & friendly. Doughnuts were very tempting. I have eaten there before the name change and it was fine. The bad news: The burrito (sausage - not smothered) was void of all flavor. I had to add the hot sauce provided to get any flavor. The potatoes and eggs had no seasoning whatsoever. If I ha
It had been a while since visiting and very pleased to report it was a great experience. Great Food, Donuts, and Service! Really like the name change. Absolutely a pleasure to meet you Jennifer. Nice of you to take time to chat.
Went here for some donuts and an apple fritter and it didn't disappoint. Some may be caught off guard by the awkward "pay and sit / wait for your food", but if you can get over that, it's a great place with great food.
Because I have to be to work so early, this place is open and serves great standard breakfast. They also have the best maple glazed donuts. The coffee comes in a large cup and is tasty! I eat here twice a week! Its moderately priced for good food
It was almost what I expected on my first trip. I just wish when we walked in the diner side, they had some sort of signage to tell us what to do. I mean we didn't know we had to go to the counter near the other door to order and then sit down. A customer could tell we were lost and explained what to do. There was one mistake with our food, even though we tried to clarify 3 times when ordering, but they rectified it immediately. For the cost of a basic breakfast, we'll definitely be back. I've not had a don
Packed on a Sunday, so maybe the diner food is good?? The donuts not so much. Husband said they remind him of gas station donuts. The biggest thing for me is customer service. Not friendly, all of the employees had the look of death like they were so unhappy(which may have something to do with how busy they were;maybe stressed?). About 15 bucks for dozen;that's about right. I have yet to find a go-to donut shop!
We placed a custom order for our daughter?s birthday party and when my husband arrived, the order wasn?t there. So we bought 4 dozen of the donuts they had available. About 30 minutes after he got home, one of their staff called and asked when I was picking up the order. There was a mix up with communication and their staff member delivered the donuts to the park where we had the party! She went above and beyond and it made my daughter?s party wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the donuts and kept asking where I b
This cafe is stellar! I'm so apprehensive of cafes, but this place not only has delicious food, but great prices, good sized portions, and clean environment! I ordered the #9 breakfast burrito bowl with bacon, literally delicious!
Stopped in on a whim. Had a great time and a great breakfast.
We absolutely love love love the Grumpy Egg! The staff is always so friendly and hard-working and the food is DELICIOUS!!! We eat here all the time! Freshest donuts in town!! Yum!!
Good food. Friendly, fast service. We went for breakfast on a Sunday, so it was a little busy. If it hadn't been busy I would've been concerned that I had ventured into the wrong place. Busy = Popular = good sign you made the right choice in eateries. We ordered pancakes, breakfast burrito, biscuits and gravy, apple fritter, and something that I think is called a rosebud fritter. Pancakes were decent and well sized. Breakfast burrito was good, but not quite the "best in town" that someone else commented in
Great local spot for a quick, cheap breakfast. It?s hard to feed 3 people under $35 but it?s not hard here. This is an idee and sit service. Helpful and friendly staff and discount for paying in cash. Very tasty pancakes! Decent portions. If you?re super hungry, I suggest grabbing a delicious donut while you wait for your food and don?t forget to grab your drinks while you?re ordering.
Bad experience today. My burrito was great though. It is extremely difficult to talk to anyone after you order. Very claustrophobic in there. My wife had an issue with her food, we asked twice about it but nothing happened . We finished our food and left before it was resolved. Probably won't be coming back for a while.
This place has always been a good experience. We ordered a few burritos for pick up & arrived within the time specified. The order hadn't been made yet & we had to wait just a bit, but the ladies at the front made it right by giving us the burritos free of charge. The burritos were warm and delicious and the donut we got was baked to perfection. It is nice to see true customer service like that and we really appreciated it. Thanks again!
I'm pretty sure this is new favorite spot! Came here after dropping off my kiddo for his first day of 1st grade. The coffee and donut were prefect for the full range of emotions. They have a large menu for breakfast and lunch. Coffee is great! Staff are warm and friendly. This little shop is comfy and welcoming. Update: Absolutely my favorite breakfast spot. I missed them while they were closed for awhile. I'm so happy they're back!
This place isn't exactly a good breakfast place. My girlfriend's pancake was a sponge texture, not amount of syrup made it better. The jelly inside of my jelly filled donut was flavorless, not to mention the texture was way off. My huevos rancheros was okay, I could have made better at home. Lastly, when the waitress brought me my chai, she warned me to be careful because it was hot. I touched the cup and it was barely warm. When I took a sip it was far from hot. Now, I am from Texas, so maybe people in Col
Staff was very rude!! You have to pay before you sit down and reive your order. Which is unfair the the customers that have terrible experience. There was only negative energy and no one seemed welcoming nor welcomed us in. Let me say as we were waiting multiple people were bringing their plates back. The lady brought my chai tea and it was scolding hot. I couldn?t even drink it until we were about to leave and I didn?t even get to finish it because it was still hot. I ordered my daughter a yogurt ask for
Always greeted with a friendly smile. The food is great. The doughnuts are incredible. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming. I enjoy coming here!
Order biscuits and gravy Togo. Food was below average. Biscuits were dry. Gravy thick and clumpy maybe sat to long on stove and way to much pepper no other flavor. Togo Silverware and napkins were thrown into Togo box so it was socked in gravy. That made meal unappealing. I've worked in hospitality for over 25 years and I would not recommend getting Togo food. And based on flavor of a basic breakfast entree would not recommend this place. Service was not great. This place has been here for many years and m
Been here a few times for breakfast. Extremely basic breakfast menu which is good for those who are seeking something little more simple. The breakfast potatoes have always been extremely undercooked everytime we have gone. Also, when we ordered the eggs Benedict, poached eggs were not an option- had to go with fried instead. Just seems a little lazy on their end to not offer poached eggs.
Ordered a smothered breakfast burrito to go with coffee. The order was done quickly and the price was right. The burrito itself was full of all the good stuff, so it wasn't just egg filler. Plenty of green chili. Problem is, there's scores of breakfast burrito choices within a 3 mile radius, and this one doesn't break the top five. It is pretty good, though. The donuts looked good, and some of the other options are probably pretty great--in that diner sort of way. The coffee certainly reminded me of diner c
My boyfriend and I love this place! For high quality food, you get high quality service, but for very inexpensive compared to nearby chain restaurants. The staff is always friendly and always makes us feel welcomed!
If you're looking for a mom and pop breakfast joint, then look no further. It's my 6 year olds favorite choice. Their apple fritters and donuts are delicious. But so is everything else. Biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, scrambles etc.
I personally love ma and pa restaurants, the employee even the cooks are amazing. These restaurants are great to support.. love this place and they forever have my business
TL;DR ridiculous wait, boring soggy food, and sweet but vapid wait staff... great twist donut Having been in the service industry, I try to be understanding of things like being busy.. and for good food, I'm willing to wait. The women running the counter were sweet and mostly on top of things but they couldn't seem to agree on what things were in stock.. and I wanted the meal to go, but they didn't even ask.. so then when I got the drink in a dine in cup, realized she didn't hear me say to go.. and then I
I really like this place for breakfast. Fast, reasonable prices for the healthy portions, and good coffee which I can refill. They get my bacon just right, not too crispy and not too soft. I go for the biscuits and gravy meal with bacon, so two eggs, two biscuits with tasty white sausage gravy and 4 pieces of bacon. Gets my day off to a good start.
Awesome food and great donuts. Sometimes they can be a little slow in the kitchen but IF that is the case - its usually due to a full restaurant- so it?s understandable. Although the last couple times they?ve been on point & quick.
I got some French toast here that Is still living in my head as if it just happened. The three star us because we ordered a pancake for my 5 year old daughter and it wss way under cooked. My wife enjoyed her eggs benedict. The place was super crowded. We did get the last donut which was amazing but they run out at about 930. Which leaves to question, why don't you make more? Seems weird to me. No kids menu. Just the regular menu.
The breakfast here was amazing...quick, tasty, healthy. The people and atmosphere were welcoming; so glad they were in our path today!!
The food here is Fantastic... quality breakfast foods cooked , and sesoned spot on...You won't get lace on the outside of your fried eggs here you won't have some fry cook dump a metric ton of garlic powder on your diced potatoes... Great food everytime And the family Who runs it and owns it are wonderful people . The daughters and sons all work there every weekend. And they're super great kids EVERY one of them And they do an Amazing job of running the place with their parents. Special shout out to MIA
We?ve wanted to try this place for awhile as it is close to our house. We stopped in this morning and we are so glad we did! Everything was delicious, the service was fast and the environment felt very family friendly. I didn?t realize they served breakfast as well as donuts. The smothered burrito and the biscuits and gravy were so good. Highly recommended, support small family owned businesses!
Wonderful, wonderful experience! Delicious food! Well cooked! Practically no wait! And an awesome staff of ladies when we went today! So kind and friendly! This our new favorite breakfast spot! Thank you for the exceptional service Daylight Donuts Cafe!
Amazing food, everyone was so nice!! Cute little place ?? woukd definitely come back. Recommending to my family and friends.
My daughter and I both found hairs in our food, which was only somewhat good to begin with. The teenage staff was unprofessional on many counts. The cashier was dismissive and rude and leaning on the counter the entire time she was taking our order. When I ordered a bear claw which was listed on the menu she barked "we don't have that" at me and then rudely corrected me about the name of a similar looking donut which was in the case but not listed on the menu. She and another teen girl working there lou
Order missing food. Served our dishes after customers that came in later. Food was over cooked and barely warm. Manager was nothing but excuses. A good portion is self service. Waffle House better food, full and good service half the price. Save your time and money!
Thank you to the Grumpy Egg family for supporting our teachers during state testing. The burritos were phenomenal and the doughnuts were super tasty. Our staff really enjoyed their treats this week. Thank you so much!
