The bear claws were huge and delicious like I remembered from many years ago. Sadly, the biscuits and gravy didn't quite live up to the memory. My friend got several of the tiny donuts, and one was dry/seemed old while the others were wonderful. The customer service was really great - the employees were still very nice and friendly but working hard and fast to take care of a very long line. The place still looks practically the same, with the same old school charm I remembered. All in all, while not quit
Stick to the giant donuts.. We tried the PREMADE breakfast burrito (Whoever thinks PREMADE BREAKFAST BURRITOS are a good idea, IT'S NOT.. ????????) with sausage, bacon and egg smothered in what they call green chili.. My Dude took like four bites and threw it away.. He said his Hot coco was good.. The biscuits and gravy had NO FLAVOR.. Had to add pepper and Cholula hot sauce to add any flavor.. I tried but had to throw it away and I was taught to eat what I asked for.. IT WAS THAT BAD.. I'M HUNGRY.. Restro
We went to Colorado and stayed in this super cute small town, The people at the donut mill were native to the area and were so kind and helpful with their suggestions! The donuts are HUGE and delicious, we HAD to go back!! We got their smothered burrito it was amazingly delish! Highly recommend adding this to your stop!
Such a fun place, it's obvious why they're a local treasure. We stopped by in the middle of a Thursday afternoon and were the only customers in the place. The young man working there gave us a very friendly greeting, and we struck up a wonderful conversation about the place, its history and various owner, and the fun decor. It was a perfect little stop along our way. We had excellent fritters (both Apple and Bacon), and bought twists for the next morning. Everything was SO fantastic and filled with homemad
I love me a good plain glazed donut and this didnt do it for me. These donuts are super fluffy which isnt a bad thing but for me i struggled taking a bite out of it. They need more glaze since the actual dough had a sour taste. the cake donuts are disappointing in size when compared to the raised ones. Personally wouldnt recommend but try for yourself and check out their giant cinnamon roll.
Great find, for Cody and me! Went to Woodland Park, and found the Donut Mill, and Ice cream parlor! Very nice girl( pretty), and very helpful! ?? Food was great, I had the bear law( looks like a real bearclaw), and Cody had the raspberry fritter( new)! See you there!!!!
I came here to get donuts with my girlfriend, and we were able to get a dozen and a half high-quality donuts instantaneously, along with some really decent ice cream. We ordered milkshakes at first, and when I told one of the workers about how it was too milky/watery, she gave me a cone on the house to make up for it, without ever once dropping her smile or general demeanor. The staff is friendly, and the donuts are a really good size.
We went this past Sunday at 11:30 a.m. They said it would take an hour to make a bacon fritter. We ordered the biscuits and gravy since my husband remembered them as being so good. They were not. The gravy was so peppery, my son and I couldn't eat it. There was also what looked like beard hair in the food. We had ordered two full orders for the three of us and they only had enough gravy for a 1/2 order. We did get a refund for the portion we weren't given. Maybe they have good donuts, but we weren't able t
Great (and frequently huge) donuts. Get there early-ish if you want the full variety. I haven't tried the ice cream, but it looks lovely, for what that's worth. The Donut Mill is iconic for a good reason! Parking is fairly limited, so be aware of that. The atmosphere is pleasant enough, but nothing too special, and I had to ding them on service just a little because it's been a little uneven in my previous visits. On the whole, though, worth the stop.
I have been eating at this location since I was a kid, I understand it?s under new owners and all is well! However, I?m blown away by the prices as it was $20 for biscuits and gravy and a pastry not counting a coffee. I understand it?s not donut male fault the state of our situation apparently. Guess I was just thinking about my bill if I had the whole family with me lol
Friendly staff and great donuts, plus other baked goodies, ice cream, and hot/cold drinks. The decor is dated, which is why I gave it 4 stars. But don?t let that deter you from visiting The Donut Mill.
Coming from the Springs, the Donut Mill is always a must-stop place whenever we venture into Woodland Park and beyond. We always love their donuts - my wife in particular loves their filled donuts, while I?m partial to the maple, and my kids always want to get some donut holes to take with us. A great place, thank you!
This place is amazing! Super cute inside with delicious food for good prices. Great selection of unique ice cream flavors and friendly staff to help. Would definitely recommend
They have a cinnamon roll here that is as big as my head. In fact, all the donuts are oversized. But they are pretty good. You should stop here on your way to Mueller State Park. I am assuming you will go to Mueller after eating said over-sized donut as you need to do some hiking and burn some calories now.
The raspberry-filled donut was amazing! I also ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were not cooked and the gravy had no flavor. The young ladies working were so kind and accommodating making me new biscuits. I'll be back for more donuts!
MUST VISIT IF YOU?RE IN THE AREA! The donuts are MASSIVE and delicious!! Such a good Sunday treat
If you're into large delicious donuts, there is no other option. I remember going there on vacation as a kid in the 90s. Fast forward 30 years and I couldn't pass up a chance to relive the memories when we were nearby. It was so good, just as I remember! We even came back before we left CO to bring a bunch of fresh donuts home. Soft and tasty, huge donut sizes, great service, and the cool old school digs inside. Treat yourself if you're in the area!
Amazing donuts and polite service. Larger and tastier than your typical donut shop, which means we can often save some for later. Kids are soo happy there is a great donut shop in town. The cream filled donuts are wonderful. The Hot Link kolaches are just the right amount of spices and good size. Nice atmosphere to eat, as well.
Wanted to love it. Been here twice and the price of the donuts is insane. $5 for one donut, why not make the donuts smaller and charge less. Ain?t no one eating a donut that heavy that size. Also the raspberry filling tasted like perfume, it was too artificial. I do like their buttercream filling but the dough itself is very heavy so it makes the donut hard to eat
Sweet little place to grab some tasty treats! Donuts ?? and they also had some breakfast choices! We opted for the donuts with the kids and sit to eat them inside with the cool atmosphere! Didn?t get to try it on this trip but they also have ice cream ??!! Highly recommend you check out the donut mill!
We tried these for the first time this morning and were surprised by the size of the doughnuts! They were so good we had to go back this afternoon to get some more. We learned that they make all their doughnuts from scratch and their chocolate frosting is made with really cocoa. It makes a world of a difference and we will come back (probably multiple times) when we visit this area of Colorado again.
I?m always happy to help small businesses but this one was really just disappointing. The biscuit in my biscuits and gravy was so hard, even asked the lady to reheat and it was still crumbly and hard. The donut was doughy inside, asked that to be warmed too but now it?s just a melted mess.
This was one of the best donut bakeries I have visited. Their donuts were delicious, light and flaky, and the large sizes were fun. The seating area was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and the owners went above and beyond to take care of their customers.
Do Not Drive By This Amazing Place! Headed for Cripple Creek on business and recalled how delicious the meals and donuts were at the Donut Mill in Woodland Park. Sure enough, a half-order of biscuits and gravy could have fed two hungry travelers! And the gravy is exceptional and the serving is overly generous. I was forced to get donuts To-Go for later since I was so full and happy. Exceptional customer service - friendly, welcoming, and attention to detals. I need to return with family next week. 5
Overpriced and underwhelming. Took my three daughters (10, 8, 5) for a donut and it rang up to almost $19. No drinks, just four (1 traditional, 2 long johns, 1 Apple fritter) mediocre donuts. Daddy daughter donut dates are an institution in our home and we typically like to get chocolate milk as well - Donut mill charges more for a pint than a gallon costs at the grocery. I will be patronizing a different establishment the next time I?m in WP.
Don?t waste your money on the biscuits and gravy. They are the worst I?ve ever had. When they heated the biscuit in the microwave I knew it was going to be bad. The biscuit was chalky and bland. The gravy wasn?t great either. The donuts are fine. I would give those a 3/5 stars.
A so-so experience. As a southern boy raised on biscuits and gravy, I have high expectations when I hear "the best biscuits and gravy in the area." These aren't it. They're obviously made with sausage grease included, but it's fiercely lacking in the flavor department, leading me to question if it was cut with more standard vegetable oil. The donut on the other hand was great. Old fashioned yeast donuts that are larger than average and the icing was surprisingly good.
Almost did not get to stop in here even though it was on my list. We headed out to end our travels and low and behold they were open on our way out. So a cozy lil spot with the biggest freshest doughnuts I've ever seen. I had the sausage kolache and it was so good. If your a doughnut lover you have to make this a priority....
Hands down the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had! I'm still drooling thinking about it... and of course the donuts are so, so good too! This was such a fun place to visit, the staff was really friendly and gave great recommendations and the atmosphere was very cozy, it was a great place for us to enjoy a delicious breakfast together while in town!
We had been staying nearby and kept passing this place. We finally decided to swing by on our way out of town. It was about 8:30 on Labor day and it was PACKED. The line wrapped all the way around into the dining room. There was only one guy taking orders, but he still managed to welcome us in a friendly way. Once we made it to the counter, we once again had a nice short conversation despite the rush. My family got all different donuts from the right side of the case and we were all more than impresse
A Donut shop in the middle of the mountains in Woodland Park,CO. Its so quaint and cute!! I've lived in Colorado 12 years and it took me coming back on a visit to go here. I've heard locals talk about this donut shop and how fresh and delicious everything in there is. And they were right. The were fresh, good tasting and HUGE!! So worth the time, money, and experience.
Prices are amazing and the staff is so nice! I suggest getting there early to be able to grab all the flavors! The donuts were light & fluffy and delicious! My favorite was the huge cinnamon round went perfect with the vanilla cappuccino!
You can?t drive through Woodland Park and not stop at the Donut Mill. They serve breakfast and brunch but they also have an awesome selection of donuts, muffins, cookies, pastries, and pies. The cinnamon rolls are the size of your head, I?m not even joking. They?re HUGE! They have wide variety of pastries from bear claws, to assorted Danishes, to strudels, scones, fritters, turnovers, twists, and more! The fruit pies are all great, I suggest you try them all. If you go for breakfast, you have to get t
Best biscuits and gravy, only second to my wife's. You get four breakfasts out of a full order! Try the huge cinnamon roll for desert! Get there early for the biscuits and gravy!!!
The staff was the best part. The donuts.while huge were gas station quality. The butter cream filled was the best out of the donuts we got. The inside of the shop needs a really facelift. Or the best donut shop I?ve been to I?m sorry to say.
The food is great oh my gosh the biggest cinnamon roll I have ever seen!!! It is all good
Okay the most important thing I need you to know is that this place does not sell bear claws. ?? Don't be like us and think you will receive an almond filled flaky pastry. The thing they call a bear claw is a giant donut shaped like a bear PAW. The bear paws count as two donuts, so we ordered a dozen but should have received 10 donuts. Are you mathing along?? We were initially disappointed that we only received 8 donuts. The very nice woman packed them up where we couldn't see. The bear PAWS were someh
Definitely show up before 9am for an optimal experience. Decent donut. Biscuits and gravy disappointed; biscuit was approved by the better half for being thick but still fluffy, gravy was a general let down with frozen Italian pizza sausage and really just kinda feeling like cafeteria food instead of home cooking. Might return to give it one more chance and snag a giant cinnamon roll.
The donuts are so fluffy and huge. Would recommend passing by this historic donut shop!
If I lived in this area this would be my go to place for dessert. It was the most amazing donut I ever had. The ice cream was very creamy. But those donuts! WOW! I wish I took a picture of them!
Fun local donut shop in the heart of Woodland Park with an awesome staff! Tastiest treats! World's largest cinnamon roll lives here!! Must visit!
Cozy Lil place. The staff was friendly. I ordered the burrito smothered in green Chilli, and loved that. My apple fritter however, had a raw dough center. The coffee reminded me of my days in the Army. The industrial size coffee machine is definitely carrying the bitter ghosts of coffee brews past. Speaking of my days in the army, they did give me a free doughnut for military appreciation. Not bad, but you definitely need to know what's good and what's not before ordering. It wasn't untill AFTER I'd
I always stop here when I came through Woodland Park. Some of the best baked goods in CO and always great service. The biscuits and gravy are also very good especially for the price.
Grew up coming here and it really is something special. They haven't made big changes to the bldg and decorations since I was a child which is cute to come back too. The donuts are still insane big and always bring a smile to my face! The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is because they don't have any gluten free options. So when I come here I can only.get.hot chocolate... Not complaining, just no food options.
I wanted some fresh donuts and was kind of expecting an array of choices. However today it was maple, chocolate, and plain. They also had a HUGE cinnamon roll but it was way too big. I ended up with a maple donut, mint choco milkshake and a cone for the little one. Doughnuts tasted really good! Despite my initial reaction to not having more choices, I was happy with what I picked. My milkshake took a while -probably 10 minutes!- for the guy to make though, it held up the line so another employee from the b
The food has gone? downhill from 20 years ago Besides that the donuts were delicious and the 2 (brothers)employees working were very nice and welcoming
Awesome little Donut Shop. 2lb Cinnamon Rolls, the rest of the Donuts are huge.. Cashier was Very Sweet and helpful..
Had to try the Bigfoot donut when passing here. It's a very honest unpretentious place with great homemade donuts, drip coffee (nothing fancy) and good local ice cream at reasonable prices for the area. Just our sort of place. Great service too!
Delicious homemade fresh donuts!! They were absolutely to die for. Also offers ice cream and cappuccino. A must stop.
Excellent variety to choose from and probably the best tasting donuts I have ever had. The price is reasonable and the staff is incredibly friendly!
The Donut Mill is a necessary visit while in Woodland Park. From their comfort food to their delectable donuts, don't pass this place up! Exceptional friendly service!
Would have had 5 stars if they had sour cream donuts. Didn?t know what they were. Into ice cream? Their new flavor is Dr. Pepper, ya? like the drink??
I know this is a long time favorite, however I hate to tell you they have not aged well. We were visiting and had went to the dinosaur museum down the street. We decided to get the kids a sweet treat and some food too since they have both. The food we HORRIBLE, seemed like a microwaved breakfast sandwich for $6. The biscuits were doughy and the gravy thick. The place looks like no one maintains it. In the bathroom, which is dirty, there is a huge letter from a customer saying how great it is there, on
$6.95 for this ham & cheese!? Apple fritters were all fragments. The girl that took my order (dark hair, glasses) was extremely unfriendly - no greeting, no smile, and when I thanked her she just walked off. We were only customers in the store. To make things worse she also rang up my half dozen ($8.95) individually so I paid triple the price. Left me wondering if this was deliberate because we are Hispanic? Either way, terrible first impression. New to town, very disappointed, will not be coming back.
You walk in and gain a few pounds by just looking at the display cases. They have a giant cinnamon roll that can provide breakfast to up to 6-8 people for under $7.00. always recommended when visiting woodland Park
Everyone hyped this place up, but sadly the donuts here were just as good as any other local chain you can find. The one great thing it has going for it would be the variety of food, and the unique donuts. The poor guy behind the counter was all by himself, but he was serving everyone in a timely manner and was great. The atmosphere was also perfect for a breakfast spot.
Took my hoard of heathens out for breakfast this morning to treat the 2nd oldest for his birthday. They ordered about 2 of everything on the menu ?? and every single thing was ridiculously delicious. The birthday boy took one look at the plate sized cinnamon roll and decided he wanted that instead of a birthday cake. These 4 boys have been snacking on all the goodies since first thing this morning and are anxiously awaiting cutting into the cinnamon roll after dinner. My only regret is that we are only in t
Great donuts! They make the bear claws right, too (bear country - am I right?)! Even the maple day olds are some of the best donuts we've had. These are the same priced donuts we have in MN and they do it in the mountains here - in thinner air. Incredible! Go there!
I used to love this place but recently the prices are very high and the biscuits and gravy are no longer good.
First the donuts are GREAT! Delicious, big and fluffy! The girls at the counter were sweet and welcoming, but seemed a little lost. Couldn?t get a side of bacon?and they looked so confused that I asked for just an English muffin? The Coffee was so hot that I couldnt hold on to it long enough to walk to my car even with a sleeve on it. Definitely get a donut! They are delicious!
Hey, my wife and I love donuts as much as the next guy, so travelers told us when in Woodland Park stop at the Donut Mill. So we did, in the middle of the afternoon mid-week, and we were waited on immediately. (Counter service.) I got the raised chocolate donut with sprinkles (photo) and my wife got a jelly filled bismark. Here's the problem. We had just had lunch, and we were full, so we opted to take the purchases back to the cabin. We stuck them in the fridge, and had them for breakfast the next mo
Fresh made donuts and great ice cream. It?s busy during summer.
Dropped in after a hockey tournament for a treat. The staff was super kind and helpful. The donuts are huge and lots of flavors to choose from. The filling is real fruit and pie filling. We will definitely be back in the next time we are in Woodland Park!
One of our favorite donut places in Colorado. It?s a must visit whenever we get the craving for a giant bacon apple fritter or apple filled donut. The chocolate eclairs are also good. You can ask for anything to be warmed up and it?s recommended for best flavor. The biscuits and gravy is good. They have kolaches, Blue Bell ice cream and a few choices for coffee/espresso drinks. I recommend calling ahead if your going later in the day to check hours and to make sure there are donuts left.
Loved it. Was welcomed kindly by the staff, and appreciated their patience as we took forever to decide. Totally pleased with the visit and the coffee. The buttercream filled chocolate was probably my favorite. It was so big though. I can?t wait to try the raspberry filled. I wasn?t daring enough to try the fruit loop covered chocolate donut.
If you've never stopped by the Donut Mill on your way up or down the mountains, you're missing an important, even historic spot in Woodland Park. Delicious and gigantic fritters and bear claws await you, as well as a distant view of Pike's Peak. Parking is a bit tight in the back, but there are municipal lots within walking distance. Stop for a quick treat or a highly caloric breakfast!
Donuts were ok. Nothing special in my opinion. I got there at 6am and donuts were cold, and had that feel to them like gas station donuts that hadn?t been sitting for hours. I?ve been to many donuts ?? places and places that make the donuts often have smells of deep or baked sweet bread. Some even warmer then normal due fryers and ovens on. This place smelled like there hadn?t been any baking going on for years. I was not impressed with there donuts or the price. I got dozen donut holes and one of there sp
No picture for proof, but the biscuits and gravy were utterly disappointing. The biscuit was microwaved and the gravy had a gelatinous consistency and little to no flavor, with only a few small bits of sausage. I couldn?t even finish half of my half order. The biscuits and gravy from the psych hospital cafeteria where I used to work hail in comparison to these. I had hot chocolate too, and that was alright.
Well, they are more expensive than hitting a grocery baker...2.25 for small doughnuts, & not much variety, but definitely yummy and soft n fresh. Fun family traditional stop on the way home from camping.
We did not like the doughnuts. We believed that grocery doughnuts taste better. We left disappointed. Also, we didn't see an espresso machine at all.
Awesome donuts!! Good ice cream and nice people ?? I think they were pretty busy because it could have been cleaner.
Stick to the donuts. It?s my fault and the warning signs were there so lesson learned. Other than donuts and ice cream the menu is limited at best. The burritos are ?hand made on site? but when I asked for fried eggs on the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy they said ?we don?t cook anything here in the store except the donuts.? The burritos are made earlier and kept in a warmer. The coffee is from a vending machine. If you think you can bring the kids for donuts and you?ll get a decent breakfast, don?t say I
This was my first visit and I am so satisfied! I read reviews about here before going inside. I really wanted some biscuits and gravy but there was one review on it and it was a nasty report. I let the man inside know and he was so sweet and gracious, he allowed me to taste test it and I was so shocked! It was so delicious!!! Good portion size too!
Very friendly staff and amazing selection of donuts and breakfast foods. Biscuits and gravy are home made quality. Will try others next. I am visiting from Texas and when I left, there was a line outside the door? Highly recommend this place.
I?ve always loved getting the biscuits and gravy from the Mill. Went there yesterday and the biscuits were full biscuits not halves like traditionally which was no big deal but the gravy was trash and tasted like gravy in a can. Very disappointing, not anything close to what they used to be. The doughnuts are still great though.
Don?t miss this: One of the best donuts I had in US. I am giving these stars for its glazed donuts. My daughter loves her chocolate chip milkshake.
The donuts were HUGE and tasted AMAZING. They also have cinnamon rolls (or fritters, I can't remember which) that are 3lbs.
The donuts and ice cream we bought had a awful taste . We actually noticed the smell when we first walked in but we had no idea that the odor went into the food. We live in another town so could not return. We had to throw the ice cream away and will toss the donuts once we get home. Very disappointed as the donuts and ice cream were expensive.
Donuts were ok, but not as good as they used to be. Still can?t find a cinnamon roll as big as the ones they have here though..,
My husband is in love and my kids are amazed! The gal was so sweet and we will definitely be spreading the word about these delicious giant doughnuts!
The donuts were really good. We got 2 twists and they were enormous. I've never seen anything like it. I was a little perplexed by the maple frosted donuts. The maple frosting flaked off, so my son and I spent our donut experience holding our free hands under our chins so as not to lose the maple goodness.
Patient staff (took us a while to choose) and tasty donuts, although not as good as Lamar's in Louisville, CO. Slightly disappointed that the apple fritters didn't seem to have as much apple as we would have liked.
I recently visited The Donut Mill and had the pleasure of trying their freshly made strawberry sprinkle donut. It was absolutely delicious! The donut was incredibly fresh and had a soft, fluffy texture. The strawberry flavor was prominent and tasted natural, not artificial. The sprinkles added a fun and colorful touch, making the donut even more enjoyable. The Donut Mill truly knows how to create a memorable donut experience. The combination of the fresh ingredients, delightful flavors, and beautiful pres
I had a filled chocolate donut that was very yummy! I also had a breakfast burrito... The burrito was ok, but the green chili it was smothered in was fantastic!!! The coffee was horrible, so skip that
If you drive by and don't stop, you are out of your mind. Best donuts in the world, hands down!! Even living in this town, I never grew tired of the donuts here!
Great pastries and giant cinnamon rolls, and thier bisque and gravy was very good, owners where very nice.
Took a drive and happened on this really nice donut shop. Had an apple fritter which was big enough to share and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Had a nice chat with the owner, Eric. Got history of the shop and a taste of their gravy from their biscuits and gravy dish. Definitely some of the best sausage gravy I?ve ever tasted. If you happen to be in Woodland Park stop in and check it out for yourself.
Great donuts and icecream! It caught my eye from the road and it was well worth the stop! We had the maple bavarian filled long john and the blackberry cobbler icecream. They also had gigantic cinnamon rolls!
