Breakfast sandwich excellent. Donuts excellent. Coffee wonderful. We visited the day after Valentines Day. The lady working counter had an amusing story about her kid thinking the Valentines Day napkins were lame so she brought them to work. I told her to tell her kid that I really liked them. I thought it was a really nice touch to be relevant for the holiday and I enjoyed the interaction. I wouldn't say seating is limited, but we were lucky to grab a seat before everyone showed up. Really nice customers
Local donut shop in Newburyport popular among the locals. First stopped by last summer and was impressed by their classic chocolate old-fashioned. Crispy edges, perfect sweetness level, and just the right density. Came back recently to explore more of their lineup, but was a bit underwhelmed. I tried the Fruity Pebbles and the Boston Cream, and despite arriving not long after opening, both were slightly dry. The Boston Cream in particular lacked filling, which made it feel more like a regular glazed than a
Lunch with a friend, very good B.L.A.T. ( blt w/avocado) on toasted sourdough. And Grilled cheese on marble. Both delicious. Deep River chips too!! My friend brought home a cinnamon roll but I passed on baked goods although they all looked wonderful. We will be back!
I can honestly say these may be my favorite donuts. I'm not really a donut person, but my family and I wanted a quick breakfast. The location is perfect right across from the playground. They offer many unique and different options for breakfast and lunch. I ordered an Iced Coffee, and it was delicious. I'm glad I don't live super close because it would be dangerous. I will definitely be back when I'm in town again.
Stopped in for a quick treat and coffees. A quaint coffee and donut shop offering homemade treats and drinks. Highly recommend the chai latte.
Good donut shop. We got a glazed which was delicious, a sea salt chocolate that was really good, a maple which was probably my favorite, and a glazed chocolate cake donut which is the reason for the 4 stars. The cake donut was dry. I don't know if their cake donuts are supposed to be as dry as this donut was but we didn't finish it. Their regular brioche donuts are fantastic but I can't recommend skipping the cake donuts enough.
Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Tried some of the specialty donuts and the flavors didn?t quite come together. The maple bacon didn?t have a noticeable maple flavor and the bacon on top was overcooked. The peanut butter cookie monster, while a good idea in the theory, tasted like the donut had been topped with days old cookies along with the crushed oreos. Overall okay, but I wish our family had gotten more bang for our buck.
Their glazed and jelly donuts were really good but I personally didn't care for any of the others. I was really excited to try the boston cream and just hated the texture of the donut. They were absolutely fantastic about separating and handling the gluten free food with care. My daughter is celiac and didn't notice any issues. I also enjoyed their gluten free items more than the donuts (I like to try what she has to support her)
Delish. Went here after a hike with the shop. Staff was friendly even though we had quite a few folks with us in tow. And of course, awesome donuts. They?re not the cake type ones like at dunk?s, they?re real! This place is for sure worth a stop. Even just one donut is pretty filling, but you end up wanting more?
Nice caf? in downtown newburyport. Came here for breakfast and donuts. Donuts were ok, but nothing worth coming back for. Breakfast sandwiches were amazing though - their egg sandwich was definitely worth it. Good selection of coffee dishes as well. Overall, nice place and hope to come back again soon.
I would have given this five stars, the food is amazing, the service was good enough, the owner himself however, was exceedingly rude and barely acknowledged the amount of business I was giving him and couldn't even bother to look up as I said hello to him. Not how you do business, I'll never understood the mentality where when someone is spending money in your business they are treated poorly
I will have to come back, as they were out of donuts ?due to machine issue,? but I got a ?cookie donut,? which tastes phenomenal and like a German christmas cookie from childhood that I cannot remember the name of. They have a TON more than donuts though! There are salads and sandwiches and coffees with every imaginable alternative to dairy. They are down an alley, so if your GPS says ?you have reached your destination? and you?re like ?uh?that?s an Italian restaurant!? Do not be discouraged!!!! It?s dow
The donuts are great, but dont sleep on the breakfast sandwiches, they arguably the best in town. Solid coffee too
Seriously? Went into shop between 2:30-3:00 pm. Hardly any donuts left. Bought 6 @ almost $5/each and the kid stuffed them all in a bag. Got home and donuts were one big blob! If I?m paying $5 for a donut then put them in a god damn box.
Great donuts!! I especially love the flavor and texture of the chocolate glazed. Definitely worth a special trip to Newburyport.
Not a fan very dry. No napkin in bag. Donut upside down in bag. Not worth the almost 9.00 for 2 donuts. Chocolate glaze donut hard as a rock, burnt and dry. Just aweful
The Angry Donut is a fun little cafe that offers your typical cafe drinks, salads, sandwiches, and yes? donuts. Normally I would be all about the donuts, but it was lunch time, I needed something healthier, and I opted for the BLAT sandwich. Stands for bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato. It was an amazingly fine crafted sandwich that tasted amazing. While waiting for our food, I looked around the cafe. You enter to a counter where you order your food, the cafe selections are off to the left above the count
Extremely excited to try these donuts which looked absolutely amazing in the case. Staff was super nice, cute atmosphere. My husband and I shared a chocolate glazed and I?ve never seen him leave any donut behind but unfortunately this donut was dry and crumbly and almost burnt tasting in some places. Seemed more like a two day old donut left out than freshly baked.
We tried Angry doughnut for the first time and man are they delicious. I think my favorite is the maple bacon my husbands was the chocolate peanut butter but there really isn?t a right or wrong answer as they?re all delightfully delicious! We had trouble parking. I?d recommend the green street parking lot as it?s a quick walk to the shop from there!
Best doughnut I?ve ever had!!
Get a bacon/sausage egg and cheese on a vanilla glaze donut. you will not be disappointed.
I love coming here for breakfast, especially on days when the weather is good enough to sit outside and enjoy the happy sounds of kids enjoying the playground and splash pad, and seeing people wandering by, enjoying this pedestrian mall. The breakfast sandwiches are great, hand-crafted and the opposite of fast food, the staff are both friendly and efficient, it?s always a great experience!
Coffee is good. Staff really isn't as friendly as I would have expected for a small donut shop. Donuts are thick and more expensive then I would have expected. They are better than dunkin's but not as good as cogden's donuts.
We?ve been wanting to come here for quite a while. We unfortunately arrived a couple minutes after closing but were kindly let in. All the donuts we got were INCREDIBLE (even for at the end of the day). The sweetness level was perfect ? not overpoweringly sweet like most places. I?ve tried local donut places all over New England and I can confidently say that these are the best I?ve ever had. My favorite was the strawberry frosted ? the glaze tasted like ACTUAL strawberries. The maple bacon was such a fun f
Donuts are my favorite. I?ve never not been able to finish one. This thing was way overpriced ($4.50 for one), soggy on the bottom, way too thick, did not taste great, just not what I was hoping for.
The service was great the people were nice. The donut was good as well, not angry as described. But honestly it was a great experience and I would recommend to anyone who loves donuts!
Was in Newburyport for breakfast at Angie's on Thursday, and stopped into Angry Donuts to get desserts for after dinner before heading home. Cozy, inviting little cafe, and amazing variety of tempting donuts displayed in bakery case as soon as you step inside. My husband chose Boston cream & mine was raspberry lemon. We were taken by surprise at the exorbitant price/donut but went ahead and ordered. Turned out first bite was a disappointment. Not fresh; tasted more like 2-day-old donuts. Mine went unfinishe
While we were dying to try one of the decadent looking donuts, we ended up getting lunch first and the sandwich was delicious!! Split a raspberry jelly donut for dessert and it was indeed yummy. Quality!
Who doesn?t love donuts?! They are incredible?welp most of the time, but in this case at Angry Donuts, yeahhhh not so much??Like why does my strawberry frosted donut taste like a full blown mango ??!??With all due respect, overrated donut spot. I think the interior of this place is really nice, but the donuts ehhhh?.no! Crazy take but even DUNKIN serves better donuts than this place. SMH ???????
if it seems dry or anything from should be it's the Bake n Joy donut mix too many donut shop owners use this to cut corners on recipe following. Kanes Donuts in Saugus does that. I saw the evidence I would recommend the donut stand in Hopkinton also a location in Southborough they use king Arthur brand of all purpose flour you can taste the difference trust me on this.
We were in the town of Newburyport, looking for some coffee and a quick snack after having walked around all day in the hot sun. We stumbled across this little caf?, and we?re not disappointed. We got some iced coffees, free iced water that is serve yourself beside the cash register, and a chocolate glazed doughnut, which was fantastic. All of the donuts looked delicious, but the chocolate glaze spoke to me. it wasn?t too sweet, which was a nice breath of fresh air to some of the super sweet donuts you get
Pure donuty goodness. These donuts are a legitimate meal. Big brioche-style and delicious. Check their hours before heading out.
I came from Beverly specifically for this donut and when it wasn't in the display the owner made a batch just to fill my request. Such amazing service and what a fantastic donut!
Staff was super friendly and coffee drinks were very sugary but tasty. The donuts are what really let us down. I don't care about the price if it's delicious, but these were really nothing close to delicious. I'm SUPER surprised by all the 5 star rave reviews and apparent fan base. We got a chocolate donut with sprinkles and a Boston cream. Chocolate was bland and donuts had this strange airy/dry texture and seemed eggy, sort of reminiscent of a popover texture inside? Not moist, fluffy or sweet. My 2-year
I got a vanilla glazed donut and this blows away anything I've had in eastern MA. Deserves way more hype than Kane's imo (which I also love).
Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, and delicious doughnuts and drinks.
If you haven't tried their Donuts you better. They are absolutely amazing. They have the best homemade donuts made with the finest ingredients and most delicious toppings. Their coffee is always hot and fresh. The only problem is you will want to try them all. If you don't tell my wife I can admit that I have tried quite a few of their awesome donuts. Rebecca, Tom, and Even Steve are so friendly and helpful. When your in the area nevermind just go it's definitely worth the trip.
Very good donuts, but a bit more expensive than expected.
Unfortunately, I arrived a bit late and missed the opportunity to try more options as they were already sold out. However, you can judge a good doughnut by its simplest form, such as the vanilla glazed staple, and oh my goodness, it's one of the best doughnuts I have ever tasted. The staff is amazing, and the owner is an absolute joy to talk to. You can truly sense the immense pride he has in his business. Visiting this place is an absolute must!
I want to like this place so badly but I just think their donuts are average ??especially compared to some of the donut shops in Boston. They are very sweet and the unique flavors don?t really shine through. Last time I got the churro and the staff member put it upside down into the bag so all the chocolate rubbed off. I feel bad about not liking the donuts here but if one donut is gonna be $5 it?s gotta be amazing.
We visited from out of town for an event in the area and tried this place after. We got lunch which was so yummy; truffle Mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and an egg sandwich on their homemade everything bun. Large selection of chips to go with your lunch. The black truffle chips were a perfect compliment. Scrumptious cookies, especially the ginger molasses. Soft and moist. Chocolate chip cookie had plenty of chips in it. The donuts were amazing. Thick and dense, delicious frosting, unique and classic option
Tom and his staff are professional and efficient. The products are homemade and of exceptional quality.
Fantastic donuts and friendly staff. Have tried 5 now. Mix of brioche and cake. Love both bases. They are a bit expensive, but they are also big, so I'd say you're getting your money's worth if you like the donuts and have the appetite for a lot.
Soooo good!! Many choices, but I went simple with the vanilla glazed and it did not disappoint. So fluffy and delicious. Staff was nice as well.
Excellent coffee and donuts! ?? the coffee is wonderful; not sour or bitter. Cake donut with blueberry?s so good.
Love this place! Had a great lunch there today. One of us got the Tuna Salad salad, and the other got the Goat Cheese Salad. Both were terrific. Lots of other great looking food came out of the kitchen and bakery. Hats off to Tom and Pam for a fabulous eatery.
The toasted coconut donut was the best donut I've had in forever! I did also get a chocolate Reese's pieces one and thought it was a bit dry but I'm definitely going back. Their scones looked amazing too
Was trekking my way through Newburyport dying for a coffee and stumbled into this place. Staff was beyond friendly and I was in and out in under 3 minutes. Great location and need to try more of the donuts!
Everything you order will be delicious! It?s now my go to coffee spot, the lattes are amazing! All the donuts are delicious and I?ve been loving their breakfast sandwich! The staff is so friendly, overall a great spot!!
DeeLISH!! I have loved the Breakfast Sandwiches, Lunch (must try Hot Pastrami Sandwich!!), Chili, Soup, Coffee and Donuts... what a great job the team does at The Angry Donut. 5 Stars!
A Dozen donuts for 50 bucks, they were so gross, worst donuts I?ve ever had. No way these donuts were made in the last 48 hours. They were so stale they were hard to swallow, thick dry clumps were getting stuck in my throat. Even my dog didn?t approve. But it was cute inside.
Very good service, we called when we were on our way and they set aside a couple doughnuts for us. we got the maple bacon doughnuts, the doughnut it self was amazing, very soft and a little flaky. However the maple frosting didn?t have much flavor, the bacon covered it up completely. Still very good though
Two stars for have a decent variety on the menu and I can only speak for the donuts. They were awful and no where near justifying the price. The two donuts I received tasted stale and after two bites just threw them out. Maybe the other location is worth the hype?
I love this place & have been frequenting for several years. Gourmet donuts, tasty sandwiches, great coffee and lattes, and the staff are all friendly. They even keep their cinnamon buns warm so they're slightly melty when you take your first bite. Yum!
The best donuts and great people. Tom and Jill are great. The donut flavors are super unique and delicious. The other baked goods are just as good (seriously, try the cinnamon rolls!) and the coffee is worth a visit all on it's own!
I see I am in the minority with my review. That's ok, and perhaps one or two people out there might appreciate this view. I went on Sunday, 8:20 a.m., and the place was full (tiny waiting area). The donuts, which were many, were in a large case, in a wonderful variety of flavors and colors! My mouth was watering, but when I saw the prices I was less enthralled. A woman in front of me bought FOUR donuts and paid $17.00. Yikes, I bought just one. I brought it home to share (no, it was not that big), and
Delicious coffee and GF options. Owner is friendly, and I enjoyed an in-depth conversation about coffee. Great local business. I will be back to try a breakfast sandwich next time I'm downtown ??
Hands down the best breakfast sandwich in Newburyport. Staff is amazing. It?s the perfect spot to grab a quick donut and coffee or to sit and relax on the patio while enjoying lunch or breakfast.
Extremely good donuts. I highly recommend trying a simple vanilla (or similar) to experience the base dough. There is a lot of body to these donuts. There's a yeasty, eggy, savory-yet-sweet middle. They are very filling and a lot more complex than the simple sugar bombs you typically expect for donuts... But the glazes and toppings have plenty of sugar in them to satisfy any sweet tooth. Remember that while these are much more expensive than your standard donut, they are something to savor and enjoy. I sus
First time in, stopped in to see what they had for lunch options. The spicy sweet potato soup was AMAZING! Ask for a one of their grilled homemade buns with it ???? you will not be disappointed!! Very reasonably priced too!
I liked the vibe of this place from the start and the sweet treats looked and smelled awesome! We ordered iced lattes which were okay- not bad but nothing to run back for. I got a Nutella scone which was good heated up and my husband got the macaroon which was GF and really good! Downfall is while we were there a man in a motorized wheelchair wanted to make an order and his scooter could not make it into the doorway due to the lip. I am an occupational therapist and do home modifications all the time with m
My boyfriend and I made their NH location our Sunday morning routine for quite some time. Always loved their specials, and always loved the good vibes! Currently on our way to a Mass location this fine Sunday for a long overdue Donut Sunday!
This place is so cute! Tucked away and had lots of options for a small shop. The donuts and drinks were delicious.
Portions are huge and fresh !! Latte was great, donuts were amazing!! Cute little rustic feel shop. Great stop in an area to plan a day around!
A solid doughnut shop, visited with a friend and picked up a half dozen for the three of us, very tasty, it wasn't cheap but it wasn't expensive, and they had several options, overall an enjoyable experience. Oh and spent time chatting with the owner who was quite nice.
Everything I've ever had here (obvi?usly donuts but also pumpkin bread, chai, and spinach-cheese bri?che) has been delicious. Super friendly people, and even tho there're only two tables (and I've always needed one of them), it's never been a prollem. Don't worry about the frequent donut sell-outs: so many other offerings are just as good or better!
Flying up Winter St. and saw the storefront out the corner of my eye. Stopped and backed up. So glad I stopped. FANTASTIC Not good, not great but FANTASTIC Slice of Pumpkin Bread & a Molasses Cookie. Truly a heavenly experience.
I'm not even a huge donut fan... but I frequently daydream about eating these donuts. I am a freak for a high-quality dough (bread, pizza, etc.) and that is definitely what these donuts have going for them. As mentioned, they are a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it.
One word beat describes the sandwiches, donuts, cookies and drinks - YUM! Friendly service. Clean eating areas inside and outside. Delicious food.
Donuts were great and selection is crazy. Look forward to trying a breakfast sandwich next time. It's a little tight inside though!
These aren't donuts they're more like dinner rolls with frosting on the outside
Per the other reviews, the donuts here are amazing. I cannot recommend more. Lots of flavors, and tasty. 12/10 food.
This place is amazing!! The sandwiches are great and the donuts are unbelievable! Staff is super friendly, the vibe is welcoming and relaxed, and the donuts are mind blowing! Wow!!!
We loved this place during our time in Newburyport. The owner was super kind and friendly. And the coffee was delicious. I highly recommend!
One of those rare places you can have a conversation with an owner (behind the counter), and they have actual handmade bagels! We stop by everytime before the beach for a donut and sandwich.
I love donuts- and these are the best donuts I have ever had. They are yeast donuts and so fluffy. So, so good.
Their love for their customers and their menu shows! I highly recommend The Angry Donut! Great coffee, great donuts and great people! Keep doing what you?re doing because it?s amazing!
Amazing donuts! I didn't even feel guilty after eating it. It was so fresh and light. Also the coconut macaroons with chocolate drizzle were incredible.
The donuts are BOMB. So good. The iced coffee left something to be desired though because it was advertised as strong, but tasted very watered down. Im sure it was just a bad batch
The muffin was very big and it was also very tasty ?? the seats were vey cozy
Kids really enjoyed the doughnuts.
I typically don't write reviews unless something is really really good or really bad. This place is awesome!! Will be coming back asap
Phenomenal sandwiches! Fresh, flavor blasted, delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Enjoy.
Some of the best donuts in all of New England. The strawberry sprinkle donut is wildly delicious!!
Their donuts were perfect!
Very unique shop. Great donuts and coffee with friendly service! Iced latte is amazing. Nice place to sit and read local news.
Had a tuna melt that was one of best I have ever eaten. Nice people and lunch was very reasonable.
Price doesn?t match the size of the dishes. The donuts are ok but the size!!!! Mini donuts and mini sandwiches for grand price. Disappointed.
