T Pattenn Cafe

Food was pretty good but nothing to stop out of your way for. I get having a "rustic" look, but there's some aspects of the restaurant that are just dilapidated. If you just need a bite to eat, it's ok.

Was pretty pleased with the service. Only complaint is that there was no mashed potatoes and only one fish fillet sandwich. (2of us ordered fish sandwiches) I had to change my order but I was accepting and I chose the Patty melt. How ever the waitress comped me a free chocolate shake for the extra wait and changing my order. I was excited so I gave the waitress a 55% tip.

T Pattenn Cafe is a good spot for a meal in Orr, MN. The food tastes good, service is prompt, and Donuts are big. Breakfast was served at a good pace and was hot. The Cafe also has a lunch dinner menu for later in the day. The donuts are about twice to three-times the size of normal donuts. The donuts are very chewy but taste like donuts. The bathrooms are just a single toilet and sink for both men's and women's restrooms. Clean.

Very good food! Had the hot beef which was excellent! Nice big portions of tender, moist beef roast, mashed potatoes, lots of hot gravy, and very good bread! Update: We went back the next morning and they had amazing, huge, homemade donuts! You have to try one!

Giant delicious cinnamon rolls; doughnuts are a bit tough. The food is ok. Sausage links are great. Service is a bit slow but we weren't in a hurry.

Terribly long wait time for food, after waitress spilled water all over the table. Waiting for over 30 minutes AFTER ordering with no communication from the waitress.

Home cooked food in a casual, family style setting. They are known for awesome breakfasts and pastries, but you won't drive away hungry no matter what time of day!

I wish I could give the waitress more than a 10. She was great. When we first got there it was slow, then approx 10 people came in. She was efficient, cheerful and never made you feel rushed. Kudos to her. The food was great and will be a future stop when we travel thru Orr.

I never post bad reviews but this was bad. The skin on my wings were burn so bad it crumbled in my mouth and there was no meat. Just burnt taste. Fries were overdone. Completely empty so not sure how they burnt it and No friendlinesss from the servers just ?what will you be having? ?foods ready? ?here?s your check? was all they said. Cash only

Lovely little cafe. Love the vibe. But that was the worst donut I?ve ever had in my life. It?s like chewing rubber and it tasted like a dirty fryer. Do not recommend. But the turnover was nice!

We stumbled across this place on a long family drive day, decided to get some driving done before breakfast and this was where we were hungry. We're so glad. The place was casual and comfortable with friendly staff and real heart. You can tell it's a local place run by good people who care about their community. The coffee was the best I've had on this whole 2 week trip. The daily made donuts were a special bonus. Thank you and if we're ever in this part of the country again we'll be back!

To be honest, I thought it was pretty poor. It was pretty expensive for what little you get. They seemed to think pancakes were in a different category than the other breakfast, instead of combining some of them. Won't be back.

Staple menu for burgers, wings and the like, but the bakery and the blue plate style meals give Patten's something extra. Have never caught one of their promoted specials, but what I saw on Facebook while we ate all looked like amazing dinner deals. Friendly employees and lots of coffee refills. Some great art in a historic building. The dining area is a bit spartan and food service times vary.

Waitress was very sweet polite and fast. food was exceptional . Clean and neat place the cooks did a great job

The food was good and the staff was pleasant, but we had to wait for an hour for our breakfast to be served. Which consisted of a couple slices of pie a few eggs and an omelet. Maybe there were issues in the kitchen causing the problems, but they didn't let us know that there would be a huge delay due to issues.

Good local stop to eat. I liked the very unique and extra large doughnuts, tasted like they may have been sourdough? It is cash only, our service was ok, food was average. Had the fried pork sandwich, shrimp basket, omelet.

We had an amazing experience here! Staff was friendly and very accommodating to my son?s allergies, they even made him chicken strips for breakfast! Portions were huge! I highly recommend the stuffed hash browns & fluffy raspberry pancakes!

It took 45 minutes to get food and there were only 3 tables. The fries ruined the whole meal. They were homemade fries. Limp overcooked and soggy all at the same time...ugh

A wonderful North Woods Cafe! The food is just what you would expect as all the entries are scratch homemade. Pattenn's hires local high school and returning college students to serve and bus. It's a joy to chat with these young adults and only adds to the ambiance. Since I come up a couple of weeks a year to fish, it's always fun to chat with local fisherman and those traveling north to Canada. All in all, highly recommended you stop in on your travels to Northern MN and Canada!

Loved this place, it has great history too. The ambience was decent and clean. The food was great, absolutely loved the omelette and pancakes. The coffee was good too. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They do sell donuts too if you want to grab n go. The only decent breakfast place in and around that area. Loved the photographs on sale. Just stopped for breakfast on our way home from a week's cabin rental. I felt we waited too long to be brought our menus...was clearing off the empty table next to us really more important than greeting live bodies? I was grateful that as Seniors, we could order off the Kid's Menu. Food was cooked perfectly to order, and was tasty. Please, please take the time to dust the log walls in the restaurant. Best blueberry pancakes I?ve ever had - and I?ve had A LOT of blueberry pancakes in my life lol. Great service and that wonderful small town family owned restaurant atmosphere. Shout-out to the kiddos who kept my coffee filled, you saved a life today.

We've eaten here twice. The first time was average. The second time was not the best experience. The men's bathroom was filthy and urine all over the floor. We had to ask for our order to be taken. When we finally got our food after a 1 hour wait we had too ask for silverware twice. We will not be returning.

SO SLOW! We waited almost an hour for 2 cinnamon rolls, some French toast and a pancake! The food was fine and the waitress was nice, but DON'T go here if you're in a hurry or expecting amazing food.

The breakfast is what you'd expect for the area, a safe choice. However their donuts do standout for their size and taste. Servers are good but it takes awhile to get the food

I'll be back. I've always enjoyed myself when stopping here for a bite to eat. Family owned and ran. They're so polite here, I love stopping in to eat. Their pie is always worth it. Don't miss out.

Great special! The half platter turkey dinner was wonderful, turkey made fresh with sides has been a regular offering on Sundays and always satisfies my hunger needs!

Good breakfast... just prepare yourself for a longer wait for food to be delivered. 3rd year we have stopped and it is consistent. Service though is very good. They keep the coffee coming until you food arrives. To be fair, the server (who I guess was the owner) was upfront with us regarding wait time on the kitchen preparing our food. Very friendly staff... that is 5 star.

I grew up eating here with my grandparents. The staff is so kind and the service is fairly quick. Very convivial and homey. They have amazing food and drinks. The french fries and soups are so good and so is everything else!

The ham in the ham and Swiss omelet tasted as if it had been around for several months. The Swiss was not Swiss unless it?s a special brand that?s bright orange and comes in a square reminiscent of velveeta. Dry toast, had to ask for a coffee refill, lots of flies, unappealing atmosphere, slow service. And cash only! Puhleeze!

This is such a lovely Cafe. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She immediately came to our table ask what beverages we would like and got them to us immediately. We had the pork rice sausage links, complete breakfast with hash browns strawberry French toast which was out of this world. The food here is amazing. The carmel roll is one of thevbest I've ever had, BUT: make sure you eat it fresh at the cafe it's so good. The doughnuts are not so amazing, just saying. But, honestly everything else is so good!!

The young ladies that served us were very nice, the food was good( hot pork sandwich and reuben) but was very long coming from kitchen. They do not accept credit cards, there is an atm, it was not working that day. Not a problem for us but we watched 2 groups have to run up the street to get money to pay. T Pattenn Cafe is super conveniently located right on Hwy 53 in Orr. Easy to get to from the road and easy walk from the public dock on Pelican Lake. The atmosphere is natural and charming. The staff was very nice and helpful. You get the feeling that they're welcoming you in to their home and cooking personally for you. The food is hot, fresh and perfectly prepared. They only accept cash, but they have an ATM right there for your convenience. And don't forget to get a HUGE donut for your road trip!

Ok place to stop if you just need something to eat. The food was mediocre at best (typical Sysco buy in bulk stuff, frozen pizzas, Kraft Mac n cheese). The burgers were ok but it was obvious the toppings came out of a jar. Their giant donuts aren't all that big. Service was ok, if not a little clumsy. There's not many options up this way so it works.

Terrible service. Waitress forgot 2 of our meals and the whole table was done eating before they even came out. Didn?t even write them down. Silverware was dirty, with lettuce stuck on the knives. 0/5 stars.

I gave this place 3 tries and all three were strikes. The food was ok when I had lunch, just ok. Then I had the big donut on my next stop. Awful, awful, awful. It tasted like old burnt grease. Not fresh at all. Then I tried something baked, peanut butter twists. Yuck. Dry and hard to eat. I can't eat here again even though I would like to because there aren't a lot of choices.

Poor service. Cold omelets. Table full of local bigots. Shame on the owner for lack of training. For putting up with locals spewing hate while others are trying to have breakfast. They hit everything from lgbtq to men and women serving together in the military. And most of his points were not correct. Just hate. I'm sure he identified as a Christian.

Burgers were good. Service was alright, French fries were terrible. Uncomfortable silence in the restaurant which made us feel like we had to whisper. Had to yell across the room to our waiter twice to get more water. Not impressed, but not mad.

Excellent place to go if you're looking for a home cooked meal in a rustic atmosphere. They only do cash, but it adds to the charm. Literally it's a family cooking for their neighbors. It's not an IHOP and we like it that way.

Our party of 7 was turned away quite rudely. When we asked if there was another cafe nearby, thier reply was "no". We drove 15 minutes to the Montana Cafe in Cook, and had a great meal...btw, Montana Cafe is MUCH smaller!

Eat here! Spent a week in the Orr, MN area and ate at Pattenn?s 3 times. Friendly service, The loaded hash browns are a must. Meals served quick and hot. Doughnuts, pies, and pastries are homemade. Listen for bell from the upstair?s kitchen ?your meal?s about to be served.

Full of flies at every table. You're guaranteed to eat maggots in this place. We ordered two burgers and 30 minutes had passed before we simply walked out. There were only 2 other tables with people too. Nobody eats here for these reasons. Also it's CASH ONLY. Welcome to 1980.

Love it. Descent variety of food from salads to steaks, rustic atmosphere. This place is home of the big donought and has the best around. 10 times better than Tim Hortons or Krispy creme.

Worst cafe ever, wait staff was useless. They want 8.50 for a small grilled cheese, avoid at all costs. Gross food, prices way out of line. If I could give less than a 1, I would.
