Surfside Donuts and Coffee

Top tier donut shop. So fresh and flavorful. There was a water advisory all weekend, and Surfside took the financial hit to close all weekend to ensure customer safety. We are so thankful they prioritized our safety, so we HAD to come the first day they were back.. and wow was it worth the wait! The owner was in there working herself & the service was fantastic. I added a shaken espresso latte drink they were advertising and it was AMAZING. The s?mores and salted caramel were my favs.

This is one of those gems you should probably stop by earlier, rather than near closing. They definitely sell out of many of the selections. The donuts all look amazing and taste just as good. Bonus: a very good selection of gluten free (friendly?) donuts too, but they do go quick. Everything pairs nice with a very nice Stumptown brew of coffee. Let's not forget the staff. Super friendly and engaging. Most certainly going back!

This place is insane! In a good way. Went there two days in a row. Went in for coffee, but ended up getting donuts both days. Coffee was hand crafted and great, quality coffee, made by friendly staff and if you dream of donuts like me, you will not be disappointed. Stopped by here early in the morning on our drive to Cambria for our caffeine fix, and heck, we?re already in a doughnut shop so why not a sugar fix as well! Lol! The lady was very friendly and very helpful and could handle the crowd single handedly and was actually quick with her service. Finally?and what an experience. We have heard about this location and made several attempts to get there but finally we got to taste great quality donuts that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. Chocolate cake, Maple Bars, ?Blackberry Lemon Jelly??all came home with us??. We had so many choices and glad we did. If you?re making plans to go to Pismo Beach, you should definitely put Surfside Donuts on your list.

We decided to stop by on a Monday morning and boy was that a treat! Any donut you get will be delicious. I highly recommend the French toast, maple bacon and vanilla bean donuts. We also ordered the Boston creme donut, love a custard filled surprise. The vanilla Chai tea was the perfect choice that went great with the French toast donut. I recommend stopping by earlier than later, they will run out of their popular donuts.

I wanted to love this place. But I think I went at the wrong time. I travel the world to try donuts. It's a hobby. I have been to over 100 donuts shops in the country. Let's start with pros. I visited the shop for the first time last week-end, there where 2 young girls filling orders, they looked new on the job, the gal on the cash register was screeching at one of them about communication, she then looked in the bag with our order and proceeded to dramatically stomp over and pull the donuts out of the bag and refill it all the while the 2 girls looked totally panicked and about to cry. Im still unsure what the big infraction was? All this unnecessary drama was played out in front of about 20 c

We went an hour before they closed (so 10am) and they only really had 2 or 3 flavors left. Aside from lack of selection- the donuts were really good. They are fluffy / airy with the right amount of chew. Toppings and Flavors were great as well. I got chocolate cheesecake, and my husband tried coconut custard. I wish we could have tried more than that, but that just means we'll have to go back. We took ours to go because seating area was packed. Parking lot outside with free marked customer spots.

This is a regular stop for us when we visit Pismo! It is not your average donut shop, aside from the very friendly and engaging staff it?s truly an experience. From their unique flavors, to the modern feels, and their family friendly atmosphere I would definitely recommend stopping at Surfside for donuts, coffee, or just a unique experience!

We were the first customer of the day today. The young lady behind the counter was so sweet. We only got 4 donuts and a cup of hot coffee. My husband and I shared each donut. They were all amazing. We drink our coffee black with no creamer or sugar. This coffee was fresh and really good. Thank you goes out to the cook and the owners daughter for a great experiance while we are at the beach.

Came here with a group of friends for a quick breakfast. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly. They have a small amount of seating inside.

Best donuts in the region. They have a very creative menu and incredible flavors. The only problem is that their donuts run out really fast. They open 6 in the morning, so if you arrive after 10 you may not find any. During the pandemic be ready to wait in line and bring your face cover.

This was our first time here and it was great! Staff was friendly and the variety of doughnuts made me feel like a kid in a candy store! I got the chocolate donut with bacon and oh my gosh it was great! Not too sweet absolutely perfect. My husband got the coffee and loved it!. We will be coming here again.

We were in Pismo few weekends ago for a birthday get away and we wanted to try the locals breakfast/donut shops and I came across this place. We loved it!! The donuts were spectacular along with their pumpkin spice chi tea and their regular coffee. The girls were so welcoming and friendly. Wish I lived a bit closer (we live in OC) to this place otherwise I would be there every weekend.

Had a Boston cream donut (amazing) and a cappuccino! The donut was soft, the filling not too sweet and amazing quality chocolate on top! With COVID they were limiting the amount of people in the store at a time so there was a line outside but it moved quickly! No seating but it is just a quick 5 minute walk to the pier where they had tables and benches to sit and enjoy your donuts and coffee!

Loved the donuts here. My kids got the donut holes and chocolate bar donut. The holes were solid. I got the gluten free donut which was amazing for a cake donut. And they serve Stumptown Coffee! The lady who served us was also super friendly and sweet.

Donuts are okay. Coffee will burn your face off. Went in too late and they were out of the kind of donuts I prefer. Tried a simple glazed, and it was tasty. Extremely Delicious!!!! The last time I have tasted any bakery goods this Phenomenal. Was 30+ years ago at my grandmothers bakery in the Midwest... This humble tiny donut shop in Pismo Beach, CA. Need to warn you. Once you try Surfside, *nothing* will ever compare. No donut, local or far, can hold a candle to the freshness, the incredible icing, the amazing flavor combos. A most decadent find in a super awesome place to visit! We have lived on the Central Coast for 18 years, and had no idea this creative AM nom nom palace, existed. Delicious! Friendly! They even have Vegan and Gluten Free donuts.

This place has great donuts and very friendly staff. There is a large selection of donuts so it was hard to choose. We arrived around 7am and there was no line to get inside which was nice.

This review is based off the last three or four experiences: I remember this place being halfway decent around the time at first opened, all the hype was legit and was hard to find a complaint. Just like the reviews say, these donuts are fantastic. I heard my sister-in-law say hers was the best donut she's ever had. And she's 60 years old! They have chocolate covered old fashioned donuts, which are usually difficult to find. Excellent! The workers were very friendly and helpful too. If we lived here (we're visiting from Colorado), we'd be going there all the time!

Always greeted with a smile and the staff is patient with my silly questions about the flavors. I love going in after work to pick up a couple of treats for my wife and I. My favorite Donuts in all of five cities. Don't bother going anyplace else. This is the best right here.

We spent the week in Pismo and got donuts every day except for July 4, because they were closed. My wife loved the gluten-free donuts and my kids loved the regular cake and glazed donuts. We also loved the dark roast coffee.

Great donut shop. This is my Wife's personal favorite because she loves the sea salt one and the maple and bacon one. Their blueberry fritter balls are definitely a must have! They have some cool and unique flavors so it's always fun to hit them up. Good latte coffees also. The atmosphere is beachy and chill, crew are also nice and helpful.

used to be the morning place I'd stop on my walk with my pup, however today I was (kindly) notified "we don't allow dogs". Which is fine, understandable. But let me know the first or second time I come in, not after over 2 weeks. Thankfully there's other dog friendly options nearby. Again, not the principal, just make sure all employees enforce the rule always and not only sometimes, It can be misleading. Even more so without a "only service animals allowed" on the storefront.

Hands down the best donuts on the central coast! They have a varied menu, every day is something new. The seasonal offerings are amazing not matter what time of year. Don't forget to add some fritter bites that have a new filling each day. On top of the amazing donuts the coffee choices are fantastic. Also, the staff is friendly and welcoming which really brightens even the most morose mornings. A definite must try all around.

Excellent donuts! I think many of the donuts they make are slightly lower in sugar than other donut shops in the area (I could be wrong about this, but to me they taste a bit less sweet). I like that they don't taste too sugary. That being said, their salted caramel donut is very sweet and top notch.

Pismo is known for so many things but donuts is not one of them and that is a shame! This little shop should be a definite stop if you are in the area! The gluten free donuts are to die for! The shop also features original art from local artists that just adds to the ambiance!

My favorite donuts! Much better than any other donut shop in the area, especially San Luis Obispo. I just wish they would make more, their hours are until 11am every day "or until they run out" but they consistently run out before 11am. Seems like they should be making more donuts to last through the day. I know it's a pandemic and all but it was like this before all this happened. They have no bags to put your box of donuts in if you are walking, which isn't easy when you walk the mile I walk back home with my donuts. Especially since I was going to get a dozen, which is harder to arm carry in the flimsy donut boxes. Really good donuts. Little bit of attitude. So bring a bag with you if you like to walk and are getting more than a couple donuts.

This was a fun stop to get donuts. We were disappointed that the kitchen was closed as there were some in our group that would have preferred breakfast sandwiches. The service was just lovely, and the coffee and donuts were delicious. The four star is just due to the kitchen being closed.

We came first thing in the morning to get their vegan donuts (not sure which day they offer these) and I am so glad we did. When we first got there it wasn't to busy so we were able to take our time and decide what donuts we wanted. We ended up getting one of each because we couldn't decide and they were all so good!! Staff was not friendly at all. Very rude!!! First time in my life that a restaurant kicked people out at the very minute they closed, which was 11 am!!! Didn't even bother telling me that I couldn't finish my doughnut and coffee there when I ordered at 10:45 am. The cashier is a spoiled brat! Wow!!! Hands down best vegan donut I've ever had. Almost every vegan donut I've had before has been dense and cakey, these ones are light, fluffy, raised donuts that are indistinguishable from the real thing. I had a chocolate sprinkled and a salted caramel. Plenty of non vegan options too. Highly recommend!!

Surfside is a great little place to get unique and gluten-free donuts. Their buttermilk donuts are the best I've had in the whole county and they always have different flavored fritter bites. You should definitely give them a try.

Busy weekend...out of donuts by 10:30. I get that it's a holiday weekend and they are a small business.....part of owning a business is planning for fluctuation in patronage. They said they had been open for a little over 2 years...thats enough time to,establish a baseline and overall inventory for changes in demand. Great donuts when they ha e them.
