Reviews Summary

Superstitions Coffee receives mostly positive feedback, with many praising its friendly staff, unique atmosphere, and high-quality drinks/food (especially avocado toast and chai lattes). Customers appreciate the local charm, pet-friendly policy, and seasonal flavors. However, some note inconsistent service, slow wait times, or occasional staff complaints. A few negative reviews cite incorrect orders, poor drink quality, or accessibility issues with the menu. The first time I went here the coffee was amazing- like really good. The past few times though my mocha has tasted like nothing- you can't even taste chocolate?? I think they might be forgetting to add espresso to their drinks?! I don't know, trying not to be rude but it honestly tastes like its just milk, nothing else. I order mostly through doordash, so maybe there's an issue with their ordering system.

I appreciate having a non-Starbucks coffee shop in the Valleys. However, I feel Superstitions is hit or miss when it comes to the quality of their drinks. I went about a month or so ago and got the house blend, which I believe was the Cowboy Blend. It did not taste good. When I hear Cowboy Blend, I think dark roast with a richness. But this was very weak, and had a poor after taste. The second time I went in I had a drink that's listed on their menu, it was good. The last time I went in I got one of the mus

Superstitions have the best Chai Lattes in Reno! Stop by and try their wilder flavors to be surprised by how delicious everything is! ???? If you love Chai Latte, you can't miss Superstitions! The staff of the 2 units I visited were very friendly. I recommend going to the one next to the University of Nevada main campus though.

i have pretty low standards and this was rough. Had to repeat three times that yes, i want my drink hot. I tried to pay in cash since the sign asks for cash, and it takes an extra minute while the cashier fraud pens my 20$ bill. Then she forgets my cupcake i ordered and i have to ask. No forks or utensils for a very messy cupcake either. Finally, and most importantly, my coffee tastes super bizzare. It almost tastes like they forgot to add the espresso to my mocha.

I've been here twice now, and both times the drinks we ordered were awesome. Service was great- the barista was knowledgeable and friendly. I usually use coffee shops as places to either do schoolwork or catch up with people, but both times I was here the music was so loud I could barely think. First time I thought it was a fluke, but now that it's been twice, I am not so sure.

Cool, comfy cafe with excellent espresso. Good music, inviting decor, and a selection of treats will make you want to stay a while. Ask for the key for the super-clean restroom with some funny posters.

AWESOME experience. Great drinks - I got the S'mores, fiancee got the Snow Globe (Taro). Both drinks turned out fantastic! The shop itself was verynicely decorated and the staff was friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu. Highly recommend!

The avocado toast was very good, NOT just cheap bead with packaged avocado. It fresh avocado that has been seasoned and it?s made with really nice sourdough and fresh arugula. Well done!

Mrs. Flip Out?s taking over on this review. My sister and I tried this new coffee shop in the area, and really enjoyed our experience. Cute decor, very hospitable staff, great drinks and healthy donuts! My sister had a pumpkin chai and she really liked it. I ordered a Love Potion frappe for Mr. Flip Out as it was a horchata frappe. I had my usual breve and it was just right. The barista told us the donuts were gluten free, paleo, and low carb and they were so good. Most ?healthy? donuts don?t live up to bei

Only been there once. Interested in going back. Got a dirty Chai which was not as sweet as I had hoped. On the way out I heard that they had a cinnamon bun dirty Chai. I wish the batista had shared that. I will be back to try it. I know it's unpopular and expensive but bring back soy milk. Cafes have to do better than garbage Oat milk and Almond. Soy milk is not causing breat cancer ya'll!!! Sorry, wrong platform ??

Went to this cute lil spot to grab a cup of Joe at the North Valleys Location...I must say...Veronica is THE BEES KNEES!!!!!! Not only was she super knowledgeable and friendly...she made me THE BEST caramel machiatto I've had in my life. I will be back here FOR SURE...Veronica what's your schedule so I always come in when you're there? ????????

I love it here, the staff are always amazing and the food and drinks are definitely the best in reno! I always recommend people here and they always love it :) Staff are always super kind and helpful, the only time they?ve ever ?been rude? was when customers were screaming at them or asking for impossible things (like to make drinks that they CLEARLY don?t even carry), in which case the staff has always handled the situation with grace and done their best to de escalate in a mindful manner. Anyways, i love

cute and delicious drinks, with tons of custom options. never been here without the friendliest service and fresh, hot coffee! whether you're here for a few hours studying, or trying to be in-and-out quick- this is THE coffee shop

Love Potion #9 and avocado toast! ?????? Superstitions Java is amazing in their flavor of coffees, has a kid friendly menu, and cheaper than other coffee shops! This is my favorite coffee shop ever!

I usually love it here. Get a drink after my nail appointment next door quite often. This time the girl who made my drink was really rude. The girl who took my order was pleasant and kind. I however really didn't appreciate the snarky way the other girl addressed calling out my coffee. You know some of your customers are hearing impaired. Being rude to them, absolutely isn't the way. I sadly do not think I will be returning.

Great service, coffee, & smoothies! Gotta try some food & treats, they look delicious. Highly recommend :)

From the ambience to the customer service, Superstitions Java never disappoints! The barista angels are so friendly and helpful and they really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The owners are amazing?they always make sure the shop is running in tip-top condition, and they?re sensitive to the various dietary needs of their customers (thank you!), creating a menu that is not only inviting, but also ridiculously diverse and delicious. We?re so grateful to have such a gem here in the North Valleys

First time here and we love it! I've never had avocado toast made by someone other than me but it's dressed well and SO delicious. Coffee is great and atmosphere and baristas are awesome.

Very authentic coffee shop great vibes usually no line and everyone served quickly and it closes at 5 but wish would stay open later

If you go there on a morning where there is literally no customers in the coffee shop, be prepared to wait over 25 minutes for your ONE drink and then watch people that came in after you get their drinks first. My first time coming in and will never be coming again.

First time going this morning and LOVED it. Amazing dirty spice chai best I've had since Java jungle changed to whatever it is now. And the gluten free cini rolls are to die for.

I come to this place as often as I can. I prefer this place to the local drive thru coffee place. They get you out really fast, faster than the chain, and the staff is super friendly. They have a variety of flavors that are seasonal at other coffee places. I love it here!

So happy to have a place like this in the Valleys. You're a goof to sit in line anywhere else - everyone is so nice, and the drinks are all amazing. Great creative drinks but I can never start too far from my favorite Love Potion #9!!

My partner and I stopped in here while visiting family and really enjoyed it! We had an oat milk latte and purple rain, both were delicious. We also split the avocado toast, which was so good. The baristas were so polite and friendly, greeting everyone who came through the door. Definitely gives off a cozy vibe and is very comfortable and welcoming, would 100% recommend!

Such a fun coffee menu and friendly staff that were very helpful! Loved the decor and the good flavorful coffee gave this place 5 stars

I normally love this place but when I came in recently the vibe was just not it. The staff was constantly complaining about simply having to do their jobs, the music was way too loud, and it just left the vibe lacking. I used to enjoy coming here but after my recent visit I don't know how often I will continue to frequent this establishment.

Support local coffee shops like this! Cool vibe, funky little place w the beat dirty Chai I've had in a long time.

This place has a fun spooky fun atmosphere. Perfect for Halloween time! I ordered the seasonal drink ?Redrum.? Despite the spooky name is was absolutely delicious!

I was only doing a door dash order, so I didn't have any of their coffee, but they looked yummy and smelled yummy, and the person who ordered the coffees lived about 9 miles away, that quite a distance for not good coffee especially when there's a Starbucks on every corner. But the place and people working there are great! It's a super cute, well decorated place. Loved the vibe. I think if you're deciding on to go or not to this place, go for it! P.s. my friend has had a coffee and a frap from there, and s

I am huge on supporting local mom and pop shops vs big national companies. We need to support our communities and superstitions Java is by far the best coffee shop in lemon/golden valley! Friendly, upbeat, energetic and the atmosphere aligns perfectly with the staff. I went in there for the first time the other day and told the lady to surprise me with a drink and omg she made the most delicious creative drink that I?ve had in a long time. Iced Peach pie latte. I can?t wait to feature this coffee shop in my

This place is adorable! I recently moved to one of the neighbors nearby and love the idea of having such a cool spot to walk to and enjoy a delicious beverage. The people are extremely friendly and service was fast and efficient. Also the prices do not break the bank! 10/10

I was visiting Reno for a week vacation and happened to be in the area and saw this cute little coffee spot. I saw they were advertising mushroom coffee and got excited about it. Apparently they were out of monk fruit sweetener which is what they use for the drink. That was no big deal for me so I asked the barista if he could use honey instead and he told me he couldn't because it would taste like a honey latte. I told him I was fine with that and he still declined to make it. I then asked for the matcha o

After a long night up and down with a toddler sometimes a large cup of coffee is all you need. Look no farther than superstitions Java. The quirky environment with mixes of vintage and modern decor and perky baristas made an enjoyable stop in my morning. I ordered a large iced blackberry frost mocha which tasted very good. The syrup flavor was sweet but not overpowering, you could definitely taste the espresso. Nothing like a sugary Starbucks drink. Would recommend if you want to try a new coffee drink so

This place is so freaking gooooood! The girls are super nice and every drink I try from this place is always amazing!!!

We got coffee for the company and it was some of the best coffee ive had. We all got something different but mine was the be my huckleberry and omg the flavor. My co worker got a coffee with real strawberries in it and that was also amazing! The service was also on point. Good job superstitious java!

This place is amazing and refreshing! The two women working there were very sweet and extremely helpful and answered all of me and my sister questions! The menu is amazing and so unique and even had a "Kid's Corner" I think it was called. I have never see that at a coffee shop before and my 7 year old son loves all different kinds of tea and of course smoothies and stuff like that. I'm excited that I can include him with my coffee runs here. Haha I'm genuinely glad I found this adorable little place, tucked

I absolutely love the decor and all around vibe and always prefer to support local. This was my second time coming in this week. First time no complaints, coffee was good and no issues with service. Went in again yesterday with two friends for afternoon coffee and baked goodies. Kylie took our order and I asked for my standard Caramel latte extra shot (iced) that I have consistently been drinking for the last 10 years. Drinks came out, I had a sip and mine was clearly missing the Caramel. Noted that it was

cute cafe. always a long wait for drinks. coffee is good, although some of their flavors are a bit off, and smoothies are too runny/melty. but it beats starbucks any day.

I absolutely love this shop!! My favorite part Is all the little decoration everywhere, it?s so cute and I love to see the baristas having fun decorating everything with stickers, little drawings and other things!! Really gives the space personality and makes it stand out from other shops :) even the bathroom is cute and uniquely decorated! I recommend the peach pie chai!

Best! Best! Best! Love this coffee shop! I feel like this shop is my ?Cheers?. Friendliest baristas ever that are beyond fun to chat with. So warm and welcoming each visit not mention...(Delicious) coffee every time. So consistently wonderful! I crave a butterscotch Carmel latte on the daily now. I look forward to my weekly visits. With so much unpleasantness this year it has been nice to have a place to walk into that makes you feel better..Special Thank you to Owners Amber and Mike for opening such a fab

I really want to support this place as it is the only local coffee shop in our area, and don?t get me wrong the food and drinks are amazing, however, the service is unbelievably slow. Most of the time I am waiting for at least 30 minutes for coffee and a slice of avocado toast, and they are typically not busy when I am there. I?ve worked in coffee shops myself and don?t quite understand how it could take so long for them to get drinks out! It?s unfortunate because it is a very unique coffee shop with excell

I absolutely love this coffee shop and it's wonderful employees. I come here every weekend and am always greeted with warm smiles and delicious coffee. Mel and the rest of the morning crew are great at remembering faces and regular orders never had a bad coffee from them would highly recommend!

There is no visible menu inside unless you have a phone to scan the QR code. If you dont know how QR codes work or you don't have a smart phone with you then you can't see their menu. I ordered an ICED Mocha and showed the young barista the picture from the menu of the ICED Mocha that I wanted. I recieved a HOT Mocha. No way at all did it look similar to the Mocha I showed her. I asked if she would correct my order and make my drink to resemble the picture. I was denied. I was told "that is the drink you or

I really love this place. I am not a big fan of flavored coffees, and the confusion that is ordering from places like Starbucks. But I got some great coffee from here that had rose petals in it and locally baked doughnuts. The staff is super nice as well. I will continue to get coffee from here anytime I'm out and about.

This place is great! It has a nice vibe and the staff are friendly. The Ube latte... "Purple rain" is really good but needs to be just a little sweeter to help bring out the ube flavor. I added more brown sugar to it when I got home and that made it perfect. Ive been here a couple of times and just think it's a unique little cafe worth visiting!

I love the fact we have a local coffee shop in the North Valleys other than, well you all know the other I'm talking about - which always my last resort for coffee. We went opening day, the service was upbeat and happy. The atmosphere was wonderful, although you could tell that COVID impacted their seating and made a cozy place slightly less due to social distancing. The coffee was good, not oily like the other place and my Italian soda was delicious (cream and chocolate - don't knock it, takes like an old

Extremely watery Flat White. The ratio of milk to espresso was wrong and the milk was not creamy. There is no way you could do latte art with the milk i had in the flat white. The milk had no texture to it, not microfoam. No normal brew on so waited over 15 min for a simple press, and we were the first in line. Not sure how this place got such a high review but Starbucks makes better coffee, and i am no fan of Starbucks

Coffee, tea, and mystery go well together. This shop has excellent coffee blends, I recommend the cinnamon rolls for a snack but there are several healthy vegan pastry options as well. The decor is enjoyable while you sip your beverage. The Unicorn Tea is a surprising treat worth trying!

Always great coffee and the owners are super friendly when asking for your feedback. the baristas are also patient with my indecisiveness which I loved! The price point is very fair and I love the d?cor they have. Definitely recommend trying out for a cute unique coffee spot.

This is hands down the BEST coffee in Reno. The owner personally took time out of his day to chat and get to know me. The Barista's took extreme care in making our orders and the owner even offered us a free sample of their AMAZING new Caramel Apple drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. You will not be disappointed and I hope they get a 5 star rating because they honestly deserve it.

I ordered through grub hub. I have wanted to try this place since they opened but live in sparks. I ordered the Death by Decaf and a parfait. Taten (sorry if I misspelled her name) personally called me to let me know that they were out of the parfaits at the moment and she refunded my money back. She went above and beyond and included some mini lemon cakes and mini cinnabons for free. Everything was delicious!! Absolutely will be ordering again and I appreciate the outstanding customer service!! Thank you!

Great drinks, nice personnel, and it's a beauty and private place to share with your friends.

this place is absolutely amazing. today i was helped by Sarah and Zack(so sorry if that?s not how you spell their names). they are AWESOME employees (everyone here is.) we live on stead blvd and skip starbucks to come here. the coffee (and smoothies) are always amazing, and the food is always mouth watering. i will come here over starbucks any day thanks to the coffee, food and amazing staff that genuinely care about the customers. Sarah even remembered my name after only being told it like once or twice. T

My wife and I love this place! They have a great selection of coffee drinks (that taste good!), the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is right up out alley. Go give this spot a try. You won't be sorry.

Wonderful place nice atmosphere great coffee and specialty sandwiches made by Zack. Sara and Zack are wonderful, Sara makes you want to come back again and again; and we have. Last but not least, you won't find a coffee shop decorated as unique and wonderful as this one. Did I say wonderful too many times? Too bad, live with it.

Good coffee, local, affordable, and a unique aesthetic interior. What's not to like? I got an iced Horchatta espresso, very good. Not too sweet. My friend got a hot Chai latte and after tasting it I'm mad I didn't get it instead. Probably the best Chai in Reno.

Tried ordering posted menu items, but it is not available for a few weeks. Tried ordering other coffee as hot only available as frap. Most of the holiday menu is cold. I would like a warm drink when it's cold, not cold when cold. Left without ordering.

I discovered Superstitions Coffee this afternoon 12110.28 and I was delightfully impressed at the level of friendly service, warm yet eclectic atmosphere and exceptional cup of coffee I had. (Extra large dark roast, 1 truvia and sugar free vanilla). I took advantage of their free WiFi and I was able to some work done bathed in pleasant music and surrounded by happy, engaging patrons. I have a new hangout in the North Valleys and you would be a fool not to try Superstitious Java for yourself. Sara and her c

Superstitions Java is the place to go! The service is prompt, the atmosphere is inviting and the coffee and ESPECIALLY the avocado toast are amazing! I am so glad to have found this gem! I've tried something new every time I go and have not been disappointed yet!

I loved the store its halloween all the time which is objectively awesome. The mushroom coffee was amazing and the snack cakes were great and sweet. 10/10 definitely will come back. Ps. The stickers were super cute too

The chai was flavorless and cold. It literally tasted like water and cream, and it was just barely warm. The pastries seemed stale. The macros donut was ok, but it was definitely not macro friendly. It had about 100 calories less than a regular donut, but a higher carb count. We spent $18 and threw 90% of our order in the trash.

Good place to stop in and have a beverage. My wife loved the coffee and I like their Chai too! Many flavors and options for drinks and snacks.

Nice establishment outdoor seating to enjoy the view, pet friendly major plus. We did the hot chocolates, with fancy marshmellos. Nice way to end walking the river walk.

Well, this would have been my first visit to Superstitions and I?ll never give it another chance. The lady at the front completely ignored me except for saying sorry once. There was NO ONE in line mind you, I was the ONLY one in line and I waited at the front counter to order for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Kylie is taking a Grubhub order that came in AFTER I came into the store, answered the phone for another customer and then gave another customer the key to the restroom while discussing what time she got off.

I shared my experience via Yelp and received a lot of backlash from the owner. I explained how her baristas treated me on my last visit and I posted a picture of my drink. I also shared how one of their previous employees always gave me great service and as you can see the owner seems to be mistaking me for either posing as the mentioned former employee or believes I have a personal association with their former employee. It is ridiculous. My husband also called to express his thoughts on dissatisfaction as

Online menu only. Lavender London Fog was good! My daughter-in-law really likes it. Casual, quiet atmosphere with tables and couches. A little pricey.

They were really good at first, then some of the Barista's just weren't as pleasant nor did they make as good of coffee...it seems kinda of hit and miss with the staff...but they're better than Starbucks in my opinion. I love how you can color on their giant chalkboard wall, that's always fun.

The wife love it!!! Its by far her favorite coffee shop in the reno area, and we will drive across town to snag a "lavender london fog". Imo their mango smoothies are pretty good as well. Customer service has always been fast and fantastic as well.

I absolutely love this place! Been so many times I lost count! I get a different drink each time and every single one is delicious and unique! It's around Halloween and my daughter and I got the Redrum and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! She loved it! The place is very fun and lots to see and try!

1000% better than Starbucks and I do like and go to Starbucks when I travel. Great coffee, smooth taste, and the best cappuccino I've had. I also tried the cinnamon stressed donut by Mother of Macros and it was delicious. If you're ketoor just favor low carb these donuts are for you.

The place to go for coffee in Lemon Valley. Superstitions is homey and friendly; the coffee is great, the staff is greater. I've been here many times and it's always added an upbeat to my day. And, it's not even 5 minutes up the road from that chain place on Lemmon Dr. Support a local, independent business!

Augh!!! My favorite coffee place!! Everyone is so sweet, the ambiance makes you want to stay and enjoy your coffee, and the drinks and food are so unique and thoughtful. Definitely recommend the Peace Pie Chai and the avocado toast!!!

I like the coffee, but one of the baristas made a comment that was really rude- I said something about graduation for college next week, and she said ?oh like your masters, or your doctorate????. I?m normal college age. I just look older because of an ongoing health issue; it damages my skin, causing aging. I cried the whole way home. 5pm is also pretty early to close. I?ve been going to Starbucks instead- I can?t get here on time, and nobody there comments on how old I look.

My first time ever visiting and i can?t wait to come back. I will be telling everyone about it. Service was great so was the coffee and food! Wonderful yet spooky atmosphere!! 5 stars does NOT do it justice.

I go into this place to study and even order through grub hub. This place is so amazing I love their Chai tea latte and avocado toast. Such a good place I love it so much. Staff is kind as well

Waited from 720am-805am for a coffee with 3 Barristas. And was asked what my order was due to them forgetting my order. After being asked it took 3 minutes to get the coffee. I feel they were prioritizing online orders instead of in person orders as people kept walking in picking up coffee and leaving without going to the register. I am not sure if this is common but it is disappointing.

Absolutely love their coffee. The staff is awesome! They very polite and the atmosphere is chill. I go out of my way to get their coffee.

Really interesting atmosphere, comfy seating, friendly service, & a tasty, reasonably priced peppermint mocha frappe. Was visiting from out of town & if in the area again will return. ????

I love the coffee and options you have! I was told that the Joe app would be more convenient but this is the second time I use it for curbside pickup and no one came out. I had to go in to grab it. Looks like your understaffed the girls there where busy I understand why they can't come out but they used the excuse that the joe app did not work. I would suggest for you to make sure you have more employees to keep up with running orders smoothly. The purpose of the the app is to order ahead and have it ready

Cutest Cafe, I'm so happy to found this place. Great staff so impressed with the gals working this Saturday morning. They took such pride in their work and the business that you'd thought they owned the place. all around great job, hats off to the owners and the decorator ????? ??

The drinks here are unique and fun, staff is always kind and friendly. And it?s my favorite place to get a matcha. ??

They're amazing. And they even left me a little note! Thanks ladies I appreciate you :)

Delicious coffee and super cozy interior!

This is my wife's go to coffee place she loves it...I can't drink coffee so I'm going by her standards and she is super picky so it must be good... she says Starbucks don't hold a candle to this coffee joint...

Love their coffee! Especially their holiday creations. Love the names they have for all their products. Also the decor is cute and the staff is amazingly nice every time!

This is one of my favorite coffee spots and thankfully it's on my way to work. Sadly their hours are all ways changing. I work nights and was able to grab a coffee before I went in but today I went there and they were already closed. Very disappointing.

1st experience visiting and quite enjoyed it. The two employees were helpful and friendly both willing to answer questions. We had a couple of drinks and some toast to go and enjoyed them. Thank You!

We order from them ALL THE TIME and Doordash didn't bring something and they took ZERO responsibility. When I asked her what were our other options and that we are THIER client she said you don't have to be rude... to me the customer. So disappointing.
