Customer Reviews

Great donuts! great location! Great staff! Great vibes! Such a fun little donut shop downtown. Try the old fashioned donut! I also tried the blueberry filled and it was delicious! I like that they have both old fashioned, and yeast donuts, and both are yummy. They are a good price too. It's a good place to spend a quiet Sunday morning with coffee and donuts.

Chill little spot with great coffee and even better staff. Perfect for a quiet morning, an afternoon break, or even getting some work done while you sip. The donuts are solid, the coffee?s good, and the staff is extremely friendly. Just a really easy place to be.

This was maybe more of a 3.5 star experience. I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and picked out 4 donuts. The place had 2 customers silently sitting and maybe working on their computers but the whole place felt sterile and lifeless. I wasn't greeted and stood at the counter for a few minutes while the lone employee arranged items until I finally asked if I could order. I wanted to sample a variety- so I got an apple fritter, a snickerdoodle donut, a buttermilk old fashioned, and a blueberry P?czki. The appl

The best doughnuts and super cute space to sit and indulge in yummy goodness and sip delicious coffee while people watching. I HIGHLY recommend the Coffee Old Fashioned doughnut. It is heaven.

We saw a sign out front advertising fresh apple fritters and wandered in. We ended up buying apple fritters and a chocolate old fashioned and a plain old fashioned! Wow, they were great! Dough was soft and flavorful. The fritters had chunks of apple and a nice glaze. Prices were great. We didn't get coffee, but nice variety and it smelled really good. We will definitely stop here again before leaving Knoxville!

Amazing coffee and donut shop serving up arguably the best donuts and baked goods you?ll ever have. The apple fritter will be tough to beat while the donuts are dense, rich and just as great. The coffee also was fresh and strong. I highly recommend stopping by if in downtown.

Nice coffee & doughnut shop. The owner makes the doughnuts at the larger location down the road and brings them fresh everyday. The vanilla ice doughnut is ?? ?? It?s thick and fluffy and has layering to it. Chai latte is very spicy and excellent?drip coffee is quality too. Stop by!

Amazing doughnuts, giving 5 stars only because I can't give more These are more yeasty and honestly just more flavor than typical doughnuts. Not just sweet, they have depth to their flavor Talked to the owner for a few minutes before we had to run out to make our dinner reservation, just a nice guy in general and fun to talk to

Doughnuts were amazing. They were super fluffy and delicious, tastes fresh. Had the Vanilla Chai but it was ok.

Umm, I'm sorry, what? We placed an order for donuts with Uber Eats and they waited for about 15 min and then canceled the order saying "they were too busy to accept the order right now". Ok, I guess that means you don't want to make the sale. Nice customer service. You do know that if you're very busy and don't want to accept orders, you can disable delivery service ordering, right? Well, that non-donut left a bad taste in my mouth. I guess we won't order from Status Dough again. What a shame folks don'

We stopped here on a road trip and loved the doughnuts so much that we made another stop on the way back!! Their vegan cake doughnuts are delicious! We also loved the old fashioned style, they had a coffee flavored old fashioned doughnut that was phenomenal. We were totally heartbroken they didn't have it the second time we came back, ha! Would definitely recommend, and grab a coffee while you are there. They make a great shaken espresso!

We got there early to pick up donuts for the office. At 8:00am the barista let us in but had no product to sell. We left at 8:15. No donuts at a donut shop is ridiculous. We saw the delivery person headed to the shop as we drove away. You would hope a business would operate by the hours they set. Status Dough did not.

A small donut shop on Gay St. in Knoxville. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had coffee that was not the best I ever had but drinkable. I did however have a vegan snickerdoodle donut that was really good. When I hear vegan I think tastes lousy but this was not the case. I'm not a vegetarian but am not opposed to anything that tastes good. It was a good donut. This place is a little expensive but worth a stop.

On a scale of documentaries to romances, Status Dough is your favorite comedy's biography. I mean, who gets this punny??? I opted to stop at Status Dough because of the reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. I went in for two donuts, and I walked out with a half dozen. We were particularly delighted by the glazed strawberry cake donut, and I was delighted by the custard-filled doughnut. The custard was some of the lightest I've had. If you love donuts and you're visiting or local to Knoxville, definitely mak

We were just visiting the Knoxville area & happened to stumble across this place. We decided to try an assortment of donuts. They did not disappoint!! Our favorite was the honey glazed, maple & vegan glazed donuts. They were a perfect balance of sweetness that we prefer. We didn?t mind the old fashioned & cake donuts either but they were a lil too sweet for us

The old fashioned doughnut tasted oliy.If you break it open you can see it at the bottom of the doughnut. The strawberry filled doughnut was ok but the filling tasted weird.

We stopped in for a doughnut after dinner last night and the food was great. They have some delicious pastries.

Super cute place, sadly the donuts left so so much to be desired, they had little flavor and tasted old. Friends and I were also not impressed by the coffees either

5 stars for our barista, Nick! He was so friendly and welcoming! The old fashioned buttermilk donuts are delicious too. The coffee is good, but it's not super sweet so if you like sweet coffee you might add some sugar on your own!

We decided to stop in Knoxville while on a road trip and were not disappointed. The donuts were delicious - we had the honey glazed and a pumpkin spice old fashioned donut. The weather outside that day was so nice it would have been nice to have some outdoor seating, but there wasn't any. The staff was friendly and made helpful recommendations. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good donut in Knoxville!

Due to food sensitivities, I am not able to try the doughnuts because they are fried in soybean oil, but they look delicious. I tried an almond milk latte, and it was good! A nice treat to keep you warm walking around market square on a chilly morning. Employee was friendly and kind.

The donuts were good and fresh. The coffee was decent. The donut selection was not too big and they aren?t very decorative donuts but they tasted good. We would come here again.

Unreliable location. Multiple visits with no donuts available. You have ONE job. I will say the Bearden location is excellent.

A very tasty buttermilk doughnut and really good coffee. The doughnuts are as big as your face and the selection is simple with no silly contrived offerings. When I'm downtown again, this is where I'm going for a coffee and doughnut. The interior was great too, simple, cozy, and lots of bright natural light. I will definitely be back.

My first time and the name really fits...dough. As I bit into my cinnamon rolls the dough stretched like gum because it was done fully baked. Eww. ??

Having worked many years in the service industry, I'm not easily moved - but the hospitality I found here today was phenomenal. My barista, Michael, was friendly, authentic, knowledgeable. I'd probably sit in a park and discuss art with him, chill fellow. Anyway, he helped me decide on my coffee, ground the beans right on the spot, frothed the milk by hand, and poured a beautiful design on top of my lavender latte ?? I'm halfway through a 20-hour drive to my grandfather's funeral, have already been rear-en

The doughnut I had was filled with Nutella. It was absolutely delicious. The coffee was strong and tasted great, as well. The workers were funny and pleasant to talk to. I loved this place!

Just like the other two locations, this place is great and every way! I think the donuts are worth the money because they really put time love and care and top notch ingredients and you can taste it! The only complaint I could possibly come up with is that they could make a few more seasonal auctions, but besides that this place is perfect

Best donut I have ever had! Seriously! Crispy on the outside, soft cakey deliciousness on the inside. Not overly sweet, just right!

3.5 - I didn?t like the vegan glazed donuts. They were soft and crumbly like cake. Nice atmosphere for a quick stop in but very limited seating. Street parking available if you get lucky and can parallel park. If not, state street parking garage is super close by.

Both my husband and I enjoyed this shop! We got an americano and a cortado and both tasted great. I am lactose intolerant, so I was excited they had vegan donuts. The shop was cute and the barista was friendly. Great spot if you?re downtown in Knoxville!

Great doughnut place! They are made daily! All of the donughts look so tempting, it was hard walking away purchasing just 2. Even though they were closing, she stuck around and was patient while we decided, so appreciated it! The people in Knoxville are so friendly

Came here because of Adam Ragusea. A bit disappointed as the Old Fashioned had a hair in it! The Apple Fritter was good and the glazed was good as well. Overall, this is a good donut shop, but honestly, it is far less impressive than the hype I got from Adam Ragusea. It's really no different than any reasonable donut shop. I guess I'm giving more of a review about Adam Ragusea, whom I trusted. It's not like this is a bad place, Adam just gave the impression this was one of the best donut shops in the countr

Do not go early if you have some place to be. When we arrived they did not have any doughnuts and were told that the owner had not shown up yet.

Nice man at the counter. The apple fritter melted in my mouth, plenty of apple chunks. Go there! That was my review three years ago and I still remember how good that apple fritter was. I'm back in Knoxville and I'm headed back to Status Dough!

Best donuts in Knoxville, if you love simple but incredibly well made, no nonsense donuts then this is the place for you. Both cake and yeast donuts. They are extra large, so a half-dozen donuts will come in the typical dozen donuts size box. Excellent espresso drinks, as well.

8.28.23 Super fast and friendly service with great Coffee and Donuts. A definite stop if you like both.

Delicious, fresh donuts and great coffee. Employees are pleasant and very sweet as well.

Got a pumpkin spiced chia latte, tasted like water. Quote from my boy friend? I have had better donuts from a gas station?. Do they even make their donuts?? If you are going to state you are the best coffee and donuts place please live up to the hype. Just wanted good coffee and a donut and this was not the place. Friendly staff but slow only one person working long line for nothing great.

Best Boston cream. Wife says best cinnamon roll she has ever tasted! Having sampled it I agree.

Friendly service and amazing donuts. Biggest donuts I have seen! One missing because we couldn't wait!

The donuts were very good and so was the coffee. The raised donuts were fluffy yet dense. They had that texture that you find at a good donut place. The old fashioned donuts had a nice crust on the outside. We were in town for the weekend and went back a second day.

Amazing donuts and service! :) Highly recommend

Happened across a TikTok about this place a couple weeks before flying into Knoxville for a wedding, so of course we had to try it out. The yeast donut was totally unlike the raised donuts we have out west, and absolutely worth stopping in for. Hopefully we'll be back this way soon, and next time we'll bring friends.

I love the coffee old fashion donuts! The staff was very helpful and the store has a great vibe. The donuts are a little more expensive than most, but they taste so good!

Overall really great donuts. Old fashioned style have that perfect outer shell thats slightly crunchy, while the inside is a tender cake thats not at all oily. Raised donuts are pleasantly light and fluffy. Most memorable was the coffee old fashioned - much darker color than the plain old fashioned, but a VERY subtle coffee flavor. Tastes more like the difference was the use of molasses or brown sugar? Either way, it was exceptionally good - even my husband, who usually loathes the taste of coffee, thought

Literally the best old-fashioned I've ever had. These donuts are superb, huge, and not as expensive as other nicer donut places. They also serve Intelligentsia coffee, which is so delicious! The employees are always super friendly.

I love the donuts here. But in the downtown store you guys run out of donuts way too fast and I?m stuck w about 3 choices by 11 am. That?s terrible for a business to lack such consistency. Dunkin? Donuts is no way as good but you know one reason why they do so well? They ALWAYS have enough donuts to go around. And your other location needs a full cleaning it?s gross in there. But love the donuts when you have the ones I like!!!

Fluffiest vegan cake donut I?ve ever had, sliding into my #1 favorite vegan donut of all time. They had sold out of the glazed and snickerdoodle already, so my only option was the powdered one and it still blew my mind. Don?t miss this place!

Perfectly constructed cortado. Temperature was ideal for immediate drinking and not cooled by any under steamed milk. Speaking of which, the ratio and consistency of the milk was well balanced and great mouth feel. The line can get long but the product was well worth the wait.

Excellent and huge! These donuts are just amazing. A nice variety of donuts to choose from and big enough to share with someone else. I like to go in with a few people and everyone order something different and then share. For the size of the Donut, the price is ok. Stop by and try it.

I stopped by the shop on Bearden hill in Knoxville because I just happened to be at the doctor's office next door. I had heard that those were the best donuts in Knoxville. So I bought 4 different kinds and them home. My husband and I decided they were absolutely the best donuts we ever had! They were so big that we had to cut them in half and had enough for 2 days. They are not cheap - but are worth the money! Very light and fluffy.

We tried a couple of different donuts (buttermilk, lemon poppy seed, and apple fritter). The Apple fritter was the best! They were very rich so we didn?t finish them but they?ll be a great snack later!

I know what I'm talking about when I talk about donuts, so when I say that I wish this was a 4 star location, believe me, I truly do. However, I cannot taint my integrity by giving this Status Dough location anything greater than 3 stars! My reasoning? Every apparent facet of this location is worthy of a higher review. The setting is accessible and well maintained, the aesthetic is hip and charming but surprisingly unpretentious, and the employee I spoke with, although perhaps too quick to try and connect

Hours of operation are 8 to 4, not 8 to 8. I wasted 40 minutes driving out of my way, and walking a mile in total a mile in the rain, just to satisfy a pregnancy craving I have. Their donuts are so good but c'mon! Either update your hours or tell me on the phone when I call!! (I called earlier today and the lady answered multiple questions.)

First Brooke was amazing vegan donuts taste amazing chefs kiss. I enjoyed my time n my donuts from status donuts was Amazing.

I go frequently to the downtown Status Dough. The servers are always courteous and helpful; the orders filled are MOST of the time correct. We would like *it if they would offer non-glazed doughnuts. UPDATE: I tried to go in this afternoon, open 'til 8:00. The door was locked at 3:45 PM. Why?

Small batch donuts are always such a tasty treat! The location is small but I'm guessing most folks just grab and go, which is exactly what I did! Looks like they have a bunch of different options but apple fritters, Boston cream and the other standards are all on hand.

Very confused by the pricing of this place. Paid $8 for a ?medium? iced latte with oat milk. I ordered a large one, she said she heard medium. We were visiting Knoxville for the weekend and saw the reviews so decided to check it out. We should have tried somewhere else. Latte wasn?t worth the price.

I ordered an espresso and buttermilk old fashioned doughnut and I was a happy man! These are delicious artisan, small batch doughnuts ?a block east of Market Square. A great place to stop when I go for a walk in downtown!

These donuts are heavenly??. They?re large and fluffy and perfect. Some donut shops put your donuts in a paper bag which causes the frosting/glaze/toppings to rub off but Status Dough uses the clear, recyclable, to-go containers that allow plenty of space for donut toppings and no fear of them getting knocked off.

Loved this place! We ordered the chocolate iced, lemon poppy seed, and coffee cake donuts as well as an espresso and decaf latte. All were delicious.

This place is so cute! The lines are never too long (which is impressive in Knoxville) and the donuts are so good and creative. My favorites are the lemon poppy seed donut and the chocolate dipped old fashioned.

Great spot with really good coffee and tasty pastries.

I loved the lavender latte but was not crazy about my strawberry donut

Fantastic donuts. The regular donuts have a great crisp exterior which gives way to a super soft and crumbly interior. The old fashioned donuts are moist and delicious as well!

Quite possibly the best Old Fashioned Donut I have ever eaten. Both the flavor and the texture were outstanding!

Great selection. Very cute!! Vegan options available too.

Cleanest tasting donut I've ever had! We got one late at night closing time and it was still fresh.

Friendly service and huge donuts. We split a cinnamon roll - it was fluffy and tasty - very fresh. They had a good selection of flavors.

Just love this donut shop. Ordered 3 donuts and 2 cups of coffee and my guests couldn't believe how wonderful the Boston cream and strawberry donuts we're. Everytime I am in downtown Knoxville I must go to Status Dough

The donuts are delicious! I saw other reviews staying these are the best donuts in Knoxville and I definitely believe it!

A vegan powdered donut at 5pm with a honey latte? It wasn't the dessert i expected after dinner, but it was the dessert I needed...

I have literally been all over the country sampling donuts and the coffee old fashioned here is in top 3 of all time I've tried. Very nice fella working the counter as well.

The gal behind the counter made me an excellent ristretto, on her first attempt! All I had to do was explain that a ristretto was all the grounds of an expresso but made with only half the water, and zip zam zowie, a crema-rich, uber concentrated godshot appeared! The buttermilk doughnut was further icing on the cake.

This a cute place to stop by on a Saturday morning! Their coffee is good and their doughnuts are yummy! It?s hard to choose only one, so get two. ????

Good iced latte! The donuts......OMG they were so good! It's a nice and small coffee place and I will always go back!

Straight up, maybe the best donuts I?ve ever had in my life. This is well worth going out of your way. Outstanding.

Delicious old fashioned donut. Amazing. I ate it, so I don't have a picture, but here's my dog enjoying the ambiance.

Barrista didn?t know how to make my drink, even though it was on the menu (didn?t tell me until after). Made it anyway and it was horrible. Flys in the donuts.

Great place to beat the heat. Cold and hot options with baked goods. Very nice staff.

Fluffy heaven. Kind staff. Need bigger tummy. Got the Maple-raised doughnut. The Boston Cream was calling to me too.??

Very friendly staff and tasteful donuts. Though not a big selection. The place looks very cozy.

Stopped in here on a whim. The donuts were delicious and big. There was a good variety to pick from, even after dinner.

I love this place! Cool ambience, my favorite coffee in Knoxville and some of the best doughnuts I've had (and I've had a lot...lol).

Amazing doughnuts!!! Great drinks!!! Awesome staff!! By far the best doughnut shop in Knoxville!

Great donuts and excellent customer service.

Best old fashioned donuts I've had so far! Also they're huge.
