Amazing gelato and sorbet options! Enjoyed a bambino scoop of banana ?? gelato and wowow it was soooo good! I?ll be back for more!
Walked 20 min looking forward to having affogato all to be disappointed to find out that their espresso machine was broken ?? (that's why the lower Stars ) but staff was very friendly and helpful we ended up getting regular gelato it was very delicious very creamy, I had the espresso and orange cardamom combo very yummy. Would try again whenever I'm in the area.
This place is an absolute gem. The gelato is insanely fresh, creamy, and full of real flavor, honestly might be the best ice cream I?ve ever had. You can tell they care about quality and every flavor feels handcrafted. It?s a small spot, but packed with charm and passion. Can?t wait to come back and try more!
We loved the gelato here! One of the most authentic gelatos we?ve had in Portland.
Fun little Gelato shop, we stopped by after dinner. Price are reasonable and they had some good flavor options.
SE 28th is a buffet of bars and restaurants ? a two-pod food cart corridor with every global craving covered. But when it comes to dessert, your options shrink fast. With Fifty Licks sadly torched out of its Burnside anchor spot, and Cheese & Crack leaning heavily on rainbow soft-serve aesthetics, Staccato Gelato quietly holds the throne for traditional scoops and colorful character. Tucked into a modest storefront, Staccato opens up like a crayon box. Inside, oversized paper lanterns float like balloons a
One of my favorite shops in town but the last two times we've gone they have been 'open' with their open signs on, during business hours and people inside but the door locked :( big bummer. A sign on the door would be helpful for the times the shop has to close early. I'd reccomend calling being making the trip here.
Oh my goodness, this little gelato shop was fabulous! We ended the evening here for a decaf espresso and a vanilla gelato (yes, choosing vanilla is plain, but they take their vanilla seriously!), which was out of this world delicious, especially paired with the espresso. The lady was super friendly and even sat down and chatted with us. Living in the South (Tennessee), we really appreciated talking to the locals. Portland is so friendly! We would absolutely return any night for a decaf espresso and a tasty
I got the birthday cake flavour and it was so good!!! Prices are cheap as well!!!
Excellent flavors, delicious gelato, and great service. I would absolutely recommend Staccato and would 100% go back again. Great place!
Went here for the first time with my wife after seeing that it was a food cart that earned a physical space. Was not disappointed. My wife and I loved the gelato. Very filling and very creamy. The folks were very friendly as well. Plenty of seating albeit the store is very spartan otherwise. We will be back!
I have tried many different GELATO ?? and SORBETS ?? from STACCATO it?s CREAMY, DELICIOUS and FRESH every time. I crave it all the time and when I found out that their gelato is healthy then ice cream I was ecstatic because my body seems to gain every pound of regular ice cream so I had to limit myself but this GELATO from STACCATO doesn?t seem to do that and Thank you GOD for the little pleasures of life. I like gelato whether its winter, fall, spring, or summer. I am not affiliated to this company so plea
Never open when it says he is open. Today I showed up at 4 and watched him walk away. Came back at 5 because his sign said he would be back. I waited 15 more minutes with about 12 other people, many kids eager for gelato. Disappointing
Good gelato and a great price! Really enjoyed the rose petal gelato. Cute little place with kind staff.
This place was so dirty. The atmosphere was like if you were leaving your apartment dirty, the staff was nice I give them that, however, after we were served, the employee went back to sit down and went straight to her cell phone. The only way I can describe it was like if they were moving out out of the building, I would not recommend this place.
I am a huge fan of frozen desserts, so I was excited to find an easily accessible handmade gelato store close to my work. Now I come here at least a couple of times a week. Staccato Gelato is small with a cute, childlike decor and welcoming workers. I've asked them for recommendations plenty of times and they've never disappointed me. Their daily selection isn't very large (about twelve gelato options) and a lot of the flavors aren't super adventurous. However, they change up their menu every day, so it's
Always wanted to try Affogato and randomly saw their sign. Their prices are very competitive and I love that. I got the sweet cream ice cream with espresso and damn it hit the spot. $5 for one shot and $7 for two is amazing when most places charge a lot more for just coffee. I?ll be back! :)
Arrived at 12:10 on a Tuesday and it's supposed to open at noon. It was closed. We went to get some groceries and came back around 12:40 and it was still closed. Very disappointed. I grew up coming to this shop and was excited to have their gelato again.
Pretty good affogato, Ice cream is delicious and not too expensive. The vibe is laid back, casual and great for hanging out. I enjoy that they are open a bit later!
The shop serves several flavors of gelato and the staff was very nice in allowing us to try several samples. Nice place to enjoy desert in the Portland downtown area!
I own By The Way, a little shop in Gearhart. I added gelato to my coffee bar last month and am using Staccato Gelato. I have to say everyone loves it and says it the best they have ever had. I agree! So authentic and so good. Thank you Steve!!
Good spot for some ice cream on a hot summer?s day. They only have a limited selection of flavors at any given time.
This place was highly recommended to us when we asked where we could get a good ice cream. We tried the Salted Caramel, Chocolate and Strawberry flavours, and each one of them was an explosion of flavour in our mouths, a real delight. The girl who served us was very friendly and fast, the place has a grandparents' house atmosphere, there is a blackboard on the wall where children can draw with chalk, and there are also board games for those who want to pass the time in addition to enjoying the delicious ice
I love this place... Friendly whimsical people, decor and flavors. Lots of options for every appetite, creative tasty donuts, a cute area with kids toys and enough seating for those who want to stay. I've seen it very busy but it rarely feels crowded. A local treasure!
I love walking into a place and being completely ignored. Super cool. Thanks.
The best gelato ever (mostly because the only gelato I have but it is fine :) but I love it so much and it is so cheep 6$ for 4 scoops they also have their own suggestion box for you to put your own ideas in and the sell mini donuts witch is also so nice because I have like a mini belly so it is so nice also it so nice to just chill after school and just come here and just have some gelato.
We stumbled on this gem half an hour before close time! Amazing gelato - we got the Thai tea and lemon cream flavors.
Just visiting Portland for a few days, and we wanted some "fun" dessert. This hit the spot! There were plenty of appetizing gelato flavors, and all reasonably priced. The coffee was hot and strong. I can't speak for the donuts, but they looked great. The atmosphere was relaxed and there were board games available for guests. Definitely a fun little place for coffee and something sweet.
This is my favorite place to go after school and the workers are super nice. Also delicious. Giant variety of flavors. Definitely visit!
Very good ?? ice-cream ?? ?? I try the rose ?? petals and the chai thai ice-cream everything was very delicious.
Yummy and refreshing gelato!! Every flavor I?ve tried from them have been amazing, no complaints. I come here even in the winter lol
Espresso chip is amazing! Paired with a maple donut was a great combo with a great price! Can't wait to come back.
The coconut canard sorbet gelato is life changing. I had to buy a full pint even after eating a couple scoops. Chocolate sorbet was also pretty good. Matt was a great gelato artist.
I really liked this little spot. I wasn't sure from the outside, but definitely somewhere I'll come back to now. Excellent affogato - I'm normally not a fan, but this was really delightful. I had the snickerdoodle, and it paired really well with the espresso.
This is the cutest shop. The mural fits the music vibe perfectly and the gelato is delicious! Me and my daughter both enjoyed every bite and I also had a great mocha-perfect sweetness level to counteract the ice cream. The person who helped us was incredibly nice and helpful. We will be back lots!!
It was vary nice and the ice cream was amazing a true hidden gem
Had a smell inside, the staff said restrooms out of service. It was a warm night and was rushed.
WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN BETTER GELATO. I ordered a cake with just 48 hours notice, but unfortunately they were closed on the day I wanted to pick up. The owner offered to open up just for me to grab my cake and was extremely accommodating with my forgetfulness in ordering sooner. The cakes are delicious and reasonably priced!
Excellent breakfast sandwich with house made cheese biscuit. Drinks made to order. Super nice staff. Kid friendly. What's not to love?
Cute little family owned shop. Great flavor options. Really happy with what I got (pumpkin and hazelnut) so yummy! They also have coffee and donuts, though I didn?t try them- everything looked good. I will be back. ??
The lady was the worst. She was very condescending, sarcastic, and very belittling. She acted like it was a problem that me and my family were even there. She was the most unfriendly and rudest person alive. She acted like she hates her job or people of color. Racism at its finest.!!
Lovely little gelato and donut place. The service was friendly, the space quirky and warm, and the prices fair.
So freaking excited that they had a Thai iced tea flavor. It blew my mind, I LOVE Thai iced tea. It was so tasty is a waffle cone. They had some interesting flavors like prickly pear key lime and some fan favorites like birthday cake, pistachio, chocolate, cookies and cream. Prices seemed decent for the quality of Gelato. The closing shift girl was chatty which made the wait time sort of long but it was worth the Thai tea. I'd go here again for sure if I was in the area.
I love this place so much! Delicious gelato and great espresso in a chill and inviting environment. The service is fast and friendly, and there's never ridiculously long lines like in other places. The prices are also great, which is why I go so often. Everytime I'm doordashing in the area I grab a mezzo in a waffle cone while on my way to pick up an order in a closeby.
cheery and colorful decor Lovely service Average variety, but still very delicious
So far the most authentic Italian icee cream shop I found. No bad choices possible. The donut holes are also something worth trying
So delicious! Tried pistachio, peanut butter fudge, Thai iced tea, and lemon sorbet.
Young woman behind the counter was very kind and even though she was close to closing up took order from our big group 10 people. And even allowed me to get a second serving which was delicious!!!! The fruit flavors were very tangy and grapefruit really tasted like grapefruit. Lemon was my favorite nice and tart!
I love this place! The gelato is delicious and the employees are friendly. I also love the mural on the wall.
The woman working had a terrible attitude. She was hostile because she was supposed to close in 15 minutes and was angry that people wanted to get gelato. She was rude to customers and should not work a job where she deals with humans. She was awful.
Staccato Gelato has turned me into a regular customer. I love how often new flavors come around. The owner is always smiling, and enjoys talking about the fresh ingredients he uses to make the gelato. The flavors have a lot of intensity to them, so every bite is as good as the first. I have had over a dozen flavors, and enjoyed every one of them. The prices are very reasonable. You can get several flavors in one cup, which I highly recommend because they are all delicious. They also have donuts and donut ho
Delicious gelato and donuts, friendly service.
Amazing place with great gelato! The girl working made our shit day better, by 100%
Decent gelato spot with a small assortment of fairly standard flavors. No vegan options that I could discern. They also have a small selection of good quality donuts. I enjoyed the chocolate/maple stripe donut, which are two things that I always thought should be together on a donut.
The mango sorbet was delicious? not too sweet and the flavor tasted very natural. I appreciated the dairy free options. And the decor was fun and quirky. In the cute NE 28th and Glisan area? one of my favorite parts of town to walk around.
Unfortunate way to end a rare date night for my wife and I. Everything had a terrible aftertaste, was not smooth at all... and both of us feel very ill after eating there. Sadly this will be our first and last time visiting Staccato. Always nice going into a business and feeling like you are heavily burdening the staff, just by being there.
The staff was nice, cookies and cream was great, but the hazelnut and salted cream were okay.
I wasn't all that impressed with the gelato like I thought I was going to be. To be honest, I felt like I was eating just regular ice cream (as far as texture/creaminess goes), and the flavor (pistachio) was pretty bland compared to others I've had. Very friendly staff, clean establishment, and because they have board games and other activities, it seems like a fun place to bring the kids/friends/spouse for a fun outing.
The atmosphere and ambiance is charming and quaint, the donut holes are a welcome and tasty surprise, and it wasn't at all crowded. The gelato wasn't terribly good, though. If you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a stop, but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go there.
Gelato was good, as you'd expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the doughnuts. I don't usually like cake doughnuts, but these were nice and fluffy, good flavors, and amazingly fresh for 9pm. We played board games and had hot chocolate, which was good, too, and spent less overall than we would have at other ice cream shops.
Literally the best gelato and donuts I've ever had. I usually don't care for donuts... but dang! These were amazing! There's a variety of gelato flavors, too, so if you want something fancy or just something ordinary (but oh so delicious) like vanilla, you'll find it. And the coffee was great, too! Everything was reasonably priced, also, so that was awesome. Definitely coming back here.
We were super excited to get some Gelato after dinner but when they gave us our cones I actually thought it was a joke. The serving size is TINY. We got one scoop and when they delivered the cone in the delivery holder, I couldn?t even see anything in my cone until I was looking directly over it. It would be fine if it weren?t 4.00. Super over priced in my opinion. ??
My daughter & I just found this place on a girl's day out. We enjoyed the lemon, marionbery & chocolate sorbets as we can not have dairy. The lemon was fantastic and tart and they have it everyday. We loved it! We will definitely be back.
Great place for donuts and coffee, the breakfast sandwich is very good, the gelato is superb.
The gelato flavors were so fresh you could taste it; the Raspberry Pomegranate Lime and Mint Chocolate Chip flavors were excellent. No doughnuts were tasted today, but considering the reviews - and my own experience - I think it's likely a second visit is in my future.
Delicious, good selection and consistent quality of gelato. The doughnuts are dangerously delicious too! Had the affagato for the first time here and it was a pleasure. When you arrive, make sure to relax and enjoy the wait (not too long) and experience a bit of life Italian style.
It was good but I wish there were more flavors. Also thought the scoops were kinda tiny. Cool that they have donut holes, too. The girl working was very friendly. Cute outdoor tables, too.
Tasty, but super expensive for small servings. No samples? Can?t touch the glass because they don?t have enough windex? Have to have your mask on i side? Also, the unfriendly counter person topped off our overall negative experience here. This was our first and (now) last time coming here.
If you've never had the experience of Thai Iced Tea Gelato.... Then life you have not yet truly experienced! I've been twice, and each time has been fantastic!
Love the portion sizes here. The flavor variety is great too. It would be nice if they could introduce some seasonal flavors too.
Gelato is amazing...however, the donuts. I went with the French crueller and it taste and smells as if it was fried in reused fish oil. First and last time I try a donut from there. Definitely going back for the gelato!
Delicious gelato, very fair prices. Friendly staff. I live close, but they seem to be randomly closed some days with no sign or anything.
Favorite gelato. Been going since I was little. I like to get the chocolate and strawberry gelatos. They also cultivate a very lovely community and have a very pleasant atmosphere!
Just had gorgeous latte here with my daughter. She had a chocolate gelato cone and spontaneously declared "this is the best cone I've ever had". She's had a LOT of cones . Make sure you try this place and support our local businesses
Best location wouldn?t even bother with the other one. Friendly atmosphere, great people and amazing gelato! Their sorbet is my favorite.
We have gotten two gelato cakes here int he last year. They were great, and tastefully and carefully decorated. The gelato is great, the donuts are great, the staff is super courteous.
Gelato is pretty good! Maybe it would be better when served with coffee.
First time having Gelato and it was delicious! They have free samples to try different flavors. Employees are nice. The Gelato was so smooth, creamy, and flavorful!
Decent value for 3 scoops Gelato and ice cream. The server was friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Since they have over 120 rotating menus.
Wow, the gelato flavors here really pop/shine. When you get grapefruit be prepared for that grapefruit pucker. It is that sour! I loved it and the lemon. I can hardly wait to try the other flavors.
We visit frequently after dinner out or a movie. Love their assorted flavors like Turmeric, Marionberry, Pistachio, Blood Orange. Gelato cakes are great too - ordered one for my Aug bday party. I am a devotee of their cardamom donuts.
We love this place but it's never open when the hours say it should be open. Nobody ever answers the phone so there have been so many times we've loaded up and got all the way there to have disappointed kids and find it closed.
Awesome folks running a quintessential store with a lot of board games (temporarily inaccessible due to covid). Love the vibe at this place. It has essentially everything you describe as the #portlandvibe bubbly people, good food and a perfectly earthy ambience to spend some quality time either with yourself or with someone else. Do finish-up with a coffee!
We were visiting a relative at the hospital. Decided to get some geleto. They were only about 6 minutes away. When we arrived they weren't to buzy. The counter lady was friendly and very accommodating with the samples of the flavors. The size of the scoops are a little small, but the price is in the range of their competitors. 3 scoops for $5.00. Ordered, strawberry lemonade, creamsicle, espresso, stracciatella, chocolate and lemon sorbet. The place looked clean. My only negative would be,at shift change,a male emplo
I know some are enamored with the new ice cream parlor on the 28th block but we are loyal fans of Staccato Gelato. There are always some classics holding down the selection (chocolate, vanilla and birthday cake) but Steve has some fantastic newcomers too (turmeric, cardamom or mojito). The selection varies daily. Incidentally my daughter and I think the hot cocoa is the best in the city. It's crafted with the same chocolate as the gelato!
Gelato, sorbet and on the weekends donuts and #FrenchCruellers ( on hold for now)! Espresso Drinks and coffee too! Real local, in house made! Get an ice cream cake too!!! For a birthday or? Any day is Ice Cream ?? cake day!!! still amazaballs! skip the $$$$$ and the lines and Be Here Now!
Uncrowded even on hot days when better-known frozen-treat shops have super long lines. Why? I don't know, because this stuff is seriously tasty. Also the shop's name is fun to say.
SUPER tasty!! Got the Thai ice tea and root beer Gelato and they were so smooth and flavorful.
