Assorted dozen for $16 cash! Croissant style donuts! Chocolate glaze was my fav! Caramel long John was next up!

This was my first time here, I will say the earlier you get their the more options you have. I ended up getting a cream horn, cream cheese danish, and cinnamon twist. All of it was extremely delicious and soft, I ate it over a few days, keeping it in the fridge and the quality did not devalue. Prices were amazing as well. (Im from Ohio so the things I got would have been way more than ~$2 a piece here.)

This is peak glazed doughnuts. Absolute perfection. Workers are always friendly too. And as far as cake donuts go, the blueberry is pretty good. Each time we went, the glazed doughnuts were WARM. I can't wait to come back!

The donuts were amazing!! I have never tasted such delicious homemade donuts before. Most important thing is to take CASH with you and to go as early as you can due to them selling out pretty fast. I tried the glazed and chocolate donuts today..me and my family absolutely loved each and every bit of them.

I got several glazed donuts..excellent, but the carrot cake muffin and apple fritter were a huge disappointment. I expected the muffin to be from scratch and not a spice cake with a very small amount of carrots?no nuts. The apple fritter was a huge lump of dough with barely a nut or much apple. Extremely disappointing.

I?m visiting from out of state and wanted to try this place. The woman working was in a crazy rush for no reason, there was literally like 2 other customers who we let go ahead of us, so I don?t get it. We didn?t know how much it?d be, so we didn?t know if we?d have enough cash on us or need to use card, and for some reason she made a comment when another worker asked if we were going to use cash or card, ?they don?t even know.? The donuts are the best in Lexington. We've been buying them since 1978. Truly hand made goodness. I like to put a scoop of vanilla icecream in the center hole and microwave for 14 seconds. Occasionally I will top off the icecream with a spoon full of strawberry jam. You might have to go to your favorite hiding place to enjoy. They are always great servers there.

Best donuts in town. Ms. Brooks is a gem of an employee always with a smile!

Staff is not the friendliest but the donuts are amazing. Make sure to take cash and get there early.Cause once the donuts are gone for the day won't be any new ones until the next day.

First time visiting Lexington, while walking from my AirBnB to Starbucks Saturday morning, noticed people streaming in & out of this place, so I suspected it was a local fixture that warranted attention. Proved to be an old-fashioned bakery with some old-timey charms. My family gave high marks to the 8-item sampler box I ordered. Order taker gave me a powdered instead of a 2nd blueberry I ordered. Enjoyable experience.

Cant stand places like this, the workers feel entitled to be rude and curt to customers since they know the establishment is a community staple. No need to be rude. Went because Frank?s was out of glazed?.first and last time doing that!

Heard Lexington was known for the Yeast Doughnuts and that Spaulding Bakery was a go to establishment to try one. All I got was a Glazed Yeast Donut. I liked it because it didn't have a chalky after taste that some donuts leave you with. It had a right amount of crunch but very soft on the inside. I do have to rate Spaulding Bakery better than McGee's. There was so many other pastries I wanted to try here but I had too many leftovers and not enough stomach space.

Original glazed ?? is pretty good. It goes well with black coffee. Fast and friendly service. Reasonable price. Make sure you bring cash with you.

Simply the best doughnuts in the land, and I've been around...I actually toured Kentucky in search of doughnuts for a story that I was writing. So I had donuts twice a day for the better part of two weeks. This was the best by far. It's years later and I can still close my eyes and taste them...

Cool bakery. The custard donut was so good. We got there late in the day and there wasn't much left, which is understandable. I would have totally got more than one donut!

So glad I had a chance to get some Spalding's cause it's been a while. My favorite is the blueberry donut it's good. Hopefully I catch them open again soon.

I can?t deny the fact that their donuts are great but when it comes to owning a business you have to show gratitude towards your paying customer. My husband and I drove early on a Saturday morning from out of town just to get donuts here. The rude and snarky attitude from who works inside just completely made us regret supporting this business. We own a business and customer service is 100% on top for us. It?s sad to see.

These donuts have been the same for as long as I can remember... delicious for over 25-30 years!! Service is what you would expect from a family-owned business. Kind and pleasant!

This is apparently a popular bakery that sells out quickly. I visited while on vacay and ppl were literally jogging to get inside (guess they?re scared what they want will be gone. Lol). Anyhoo, I guess I?m not a donut connoisseur, but it was just a donut to me. They were fresh, and the ones we ate the next day were still good.

These are the best donuts in the country, hands down. I've tasted donuts from coast to coast and these are the absolute best. Have to have them every time I come to town.

First time customer. We have tried several donut places around Lexington and so far this one is the best. We had the regular glazed and powdered cake and glazed chocolate. All were delicious. Will definitely go back.

This charming bakery has the most delicious treats! Highly recommend going on a Saturday or Sunday and getting the sticky buns. We were visiting from out of town, but we'll definitely be back next time we are here.

Obviously the donuts are delicious but what is not appetizing is the customer service. I have been coming here since they were downtown and the last two times I have been here they have been so rude!!!! Just shy of getti ng my BOXES thrown at me with an attitude and not a word said verbally but the look on her face said it all. Which questions if I will ever be back.

I absolutely love this place. They have some of the best donuts you'll find anywhere. The chocolate iced is the go-to, but everything else I've tried has been great as well. Amazing staff. Very friendly and attentive.

Maybe good doughnuts, but people skill isn?t a quality that staff has here. Every time I go in I come out saying it?s the last I?m going back. Staff?s mind set is to get you out as fast as you come in. My advice to the staff would be learn to smile, greet your customers nicely.

It cannot have a rating higher than three stars based exclusively on its lack of dedication to its customer base. The prices are continually climbing, and there are two work days that you can't get the donuts. While I haven't 100% boycotted Spalding, I go to Frank's about 85% of the time. A donut can only be so good, and I'd rather give my money to a place that WANTS my business.

I've seen this place a couple times omw to work but finally stopped in I grabbed these mini cheese cakes which were wonderful and light the staff was also very nice

This place used to be the gem of Lexington when it came to bakery goods. But now their quality of donuts are complete TRASH. Their more greasy than they used to be, certain parts of the donut isn?t done all the way and they have less glaze on them unlike how they used to have way more before . Some are over cooked and some are undercooked. Please get it together and fix them

Heard of this place through a friend and I'm glad I tried them for myself because they are hands down the best doughnuts I've ever had. If you're ever in the area do yourself a favor and try them. Make sure you get there early they don't last long.

I loved these donuts when I ate my very 1st glazed and jelly donut 38 years ago and have eaten them every since, my favorite donut shop, but my husband got us some yesterday and for some reason there different, there not as airy, crispy nor do they have as much glaze as the last time I had the privilege of eating some. Love love love these donuts. I brought so home for my family and now they constantly ask me to bring more! By far the best pastries in the eastern part of the country. Highly recommend the chocolate one. The ladies up front are so sweet ???? highly recommend!

Small space that smells great. There is plenty of parking. The yeast donuts are good, a little dense but flavorful. The chocolate yeast are glazed first then the chocolate is added. Not my favorite. The Apple turnover was good and the pastry was flaky.

Service depends on the amount of people in the store at once. Make sure to double check for order total if you are buying multiply different items. There are different prices for cash vs credit cards. If paying with a credit card you will be charged 4% more than someone paying with cash. They do accept credit and debit cards now so that is a plus. However they just are not what they used to be. 1st time I've ever gone in and didn't see a long line. Donuts and cream horns where simply no good. They tasted old and where not crispy like normal. This place used to be amazing it was the place to get donuts in lexington. Very sad to see an amazing place like this fade away. It just looks and tastes like it's changed owner or at the least cooks. I really hope to see it come back around.

Great donuts but should have a better system set up for delivery orders. Customers get worked up when they think another customer is cutting in front of them as I just experienced. Shouldn?t have to wait in line for a ordered that?s already bagged. Great donuts

No Locals anymore, No Giant Line, The doughnuts are under-cooked, The employees are rude, and the doughnuts are helf the size that made the place. This is the best donut place in Lexington and surrounding counties! They have perfected their handcrafted donut! The glazed donut is outstanding and the cake cinnamon donut is a favorite as well! Not many specialty donuts but that is what makes them SPECIAL! They have specific ones they have are perfected! My family loves this place! They are friendly and remember faces as well.

By far the best donuts and bakery items in the State of KY! I stopped in for the first time this morning and ordered 1 1/2 dozen. When I went to pay the lady said they only accept cash, and I only had my debit card, so I apologized and told her to stop filling my order because I couldn?t pay. She promptly informed me that they were going to give me my donuts and that I could get the cash and return the money whenever it was convenient for me. Wow, I was seriously shocked. That kind of hospitality and trust

I can see how this bakery has been open for 90 years. Absolutley the best donuts I've ever had. I got an apple fritter that was still warm - amazing! My husband had a chocolate glazed donut and the glaze was rich but not too sweet. This place is a must visit on any trip to Lexington.

The donuts are so small now, there the size of the palm of your hand and dry, when the original owners made these doughnuts, they were so huge and soft and the icing was so extra, now it?s like buying dunkin doughnuts,a waste of money, to keep them prices for small palm size doughnuts with thick dough in the middle,yuck!!!!

Get the most amazing donuts you have ever eaten in your life here, if you can. Check the day and the hours they are open before you go. Make sure you go early, make sure you have cash, and make sure you get a dozen regular glazed. You will like anything else you try from Spaulding's without a doubt. Delicious. So why get so many plain, glazed? Once you have tasted their glazed donut, you will understand. It is that good.

Cheap and delicious donuts. Easy to get in and out of the building. The drive thru when everything was shut down was a great idea! My favorite donut place! Early mornings can be difficult with lengthy lines but if you can go mid-morning, there is almost never a wait.

Best donuts I have had, anywhere. Seriously. Go for the glazed original. These things are amazing and almost always hot off the press. The chocolate and other flavored cake are good too, but nothing you can't get somewhere else.

I love Spaldings and have for years! But my experience today was totally different. The workers didn?t even acknowledge me while placing an order or didn?t even think to say ?Thank you? or ?Have a great day?. In the service industry it goes a long way to respect the people that are handing you money out of their wallet. Outside of the poor customer service, the donuts were delicious as always.

Fantastic donuts, the best glazed in Lexington. Light, crispy, fresh. Old school donut shop, no frills, just bring your cash. They also have great specialty options. I got a blueberry, custard-filled chocolate glazed, and raspberry danish, all excellent (depending on your preference).

Maybe I went on an off day, but my donuts (apple fritter, cinnamon twist) were just okay, not that great. The fritter in particular with thick and doughy and the apple pieces were kinda meh. Nice folks but so so donuts.

It is a family owned business since 1929. One of Lexington beloved Icones. Fresh, affordable, and delicious. They are known best for its range of phenomenal donuts. I would highly recommend to visit them today. Buy some for yourself, and treat a neighbor for some donuts.

The best donuts in Lexington. They only accept cash and have limited operating hours, but the excellent service makes up for it. I had to find out about their cash-only policy the hard way, but the owner offered to let me have my order for free as long as I promised to pay him back upon my next visit. That is customer service!

Stopped in while in town to visit a family member at the hospital. The parking lot was full and the line was nearly backed out the door at 11:00. I thought to myself, this must mean that this place is good. I ordered glazed doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, creme horns, and strawberry cupcakes. Everything I ordered was delicious!!! Best Donuts I've ever had! The only reason they didn't get the 5th star was for cash only. Inconvenient in the age of plastic and modern tech. But otherwise a wonderful setup and fantastic environment.
