Somethin' Sweet Donuts

What I noticed about this Albany Park establishment, is that it?s a neghborhood staple. Many people come in here weekly with their families, prior to starting their Saturday festivities. First thing you notice is that their offerings are unique to the owner?s heritage. Matcha and ube (purple yam) filled bismark donuts are a specialty. But even their regular donuts are very good!! This is a big winner, but there are some places that I feel are just as good if not slightly better. That?s not to say that

Donuts are tasty enough (nothing spectacular but will satisfy your craving) but the price will keep me from returning. $24 for six donuts is just too much anywhere, but especially given how small these are. This does include specialty donuts, but like half of their donuts are "specialty" and they aren't really that much bigger or more complex than their regular donuts, so the price differential is a bit too much in my opinion. $15 for half a dozen of their basic donuts is still at the high end for donuts al

They have the best donuts in town! The staff is so kind and friendly here so if you feel like they aren't being nice to you, look inward because the only explanation in that instance is that you are a jerk. In addition to the donuts (which are all great!) I recommend trying 'somethin' savory' like a spinach and feta croissant as well! They hit the spot. After my eye check-ip across the street, I stopped by to get coffee. I was pleasantly surprised to see ube donut . I of coutse had to get it as well as raspberry bismark, chocolate frosted bavarian cream and leek and parmesan pastry. They were all delicious, dough was soft and pillowy, the filling is not overly sweet. BTW, they have matcha-filled donuts as well for the matchaddicts. Even the leek parmesan pastry is on point. First time visiting this place, they have a good portion of options for donuts- as much as I wanted to try all of them, I chose to try the matcha filled one and blubbery filled. Oh man! You can tell this is really homemade! The employee told us it was family owned and gave us some recommendations for great Chicago places to check out. The donuts are great quality and so yummy! Pillow soft (I'd sleep on them!) I got this Ube donut (purple sweet potato), cold brew, and a hot mocha latte. We plan to come every morning for coffee while we're here!

Awesome! My wife and I just moved into the area and were told to check them out. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and ambience. They have a solid variety of options and flavors. We love the balance in flavor and sweet. Not to rich or overpowering. Must check out if you have not yet.

All the warmth and love of a family owned business that is dedicated to their craft. The raspberry bismark was the best filled donut I've ever had and I came back to this place multiple times just for it. It isn't just the donuts either, what's a donut without coffee, and the Mocha enjoyed was exceptional. Not the experience, I expect to get from a bake first location. It was my first time going here and lemme tell ya- there are a LOT of yummy unique flavors!!! Everyone was super chill and helpful. I bought the Maple Bacon Long John, Strawberry Frosted, Chocolate Oreo, and Apple Cinnamon. The Maple Bacon was an experience- a lovely one at that!

I ordered a dozen donuts for a coworker's birthday and they were a total hit! I was so impressed by how efficient, friendly, and professional everyone was, and the donuts were delicious! I'm looking forward to ordering from Somethin' Sweet again, truly an Albany Park gem!

We're so grateful this place exists. Our kids have nut and seed allergies, and most bakeries are the stuff of nightmares for us. We love donuts and it's wonderful to enjoy without fear. They're so darn delicious too!

Great place, just a shame that it's so much more expensive than the major chains nearby. I really want to support it more, but when you're paying over $2 more for the same drink you can get at the Starbucks it's hard.

Found this place because it was the nearest local shop that came up when we searched for donuts on Google. Incredible donuts. Classic glazed is so flavorful it is a standout on its own. The matcha and ube filled donuts had verrrrry subtle flavors, but very good. The Bavarian cream was incredible. Great spot!

Somethin' Sweet is incredible. I've been about a dozen times in the past few weeks, and their donuts, pastries, and coffee are consistently some of the best I've ever had. Seriously, their donuts are INSANE. The basic glazed, every one, is like a magazine cover model of a donut. Fluffy and round and tasty. The Platonic ideal of "donut." I'm not usually a cake donut guy, but their red velvet is award-winning and deserves it. That said, the cinnamon crumb is my favorite.

We love Somethin' Sweet! Their doughnuts are really good, and their specialty flavors (e.g. matcha and ube) are delicious and it's great to have options that are different than the usual chocolate/vanilla, etc. (though I love these flavors as well). Absolute gem in the neighborhood. I love the peoole and donuts here and could not be more pumped about it every time I get to come - the Ube ones are especially slammin' & every other one I've tried has blown me away too. Great neighborhood donut spot. Wide variety of flavors with rotating specials. Good for a donut and coffee for one or a box for a group - every flavor is unique and incredibly tasty. Favorites to date are the red velvet donut and maple bacon bar.

The BEST donuts and pastries! I love that they are completely peanut free, which is hard to find for donut shops. The donuts are also very light compared to other shops. Highly recommend!

Tasty donuts. Looks like they get pretty creative. Got there when they opened and they were a bit behind. Very apologetic about that and very nice. If I lived close by, I definitely would stop by before work for a coffee and a doughnut.

My donut lover son and I look for donut places wherever we are. This place has a great selection. My son approved of his choices and I had their latte which was good. Not many seating options inside, it looked more of a grab & go place with a few bar height stools and a long table by the window. Paid parking available right in the front of the place

Great donuts, but I don't know why people say the staff is friendly. They're NOT. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have been customers since they opened. We probably buy donuts once or twice a month. Not one employee has ever said a single unnecessary word to either of us. Every time we leave we talk about the utter lack of friendliness.

Somethin' sweet is amazing! All of their donuts are always perfect; the people are nice; the whole situation just immaculate. I can't think of a single complaint I have in the 10+ times I've been there -- perhaps other than (this is my fault) that sometimes I get there little late and they've run out of a donut that I really, really like, but then I just get a different delicious donut instead.

I don?t understand the hype. I purchased 6 donuts and none blew me away. They all tasted like chain donut shops. A little pricey for a small donut that has no wow factor or flavor. One suggestion on the filling donuts don?t be cheap with a squeeze of flavor fill the donut up with flavor.

I?ve been coming here years ago. The service it?s always nice. But I recently came in and there is a new worker. I was going to pay cash but I was short on a couple CENTS. I asked If I could pay the rest on my card. But before I could finish my sentence he was like ?yeah, I want you to pay me everything?. Of course I was going to pay every cent that was on my receipt. But I think it was really rude. I never intended to not pay the CENTS.

Welcome to Albany Park, our favorite sweet shop. I had tried several donut shops through the city and this is one on Kedzie is the best. Your Boston Cream has the perfect filling. Not to milky. No to swee, not to little and not to much. Perfectly balance. Wonderful job!! Again hope your business thrives!!!

I love this place! I?ve only able been able to order it for delivery unfortunately but they always pack the order with care, I truly appreciate the tamper safe packaging. I have tried many of their donuts, coffee, and savory pastries, and they?re all delicious. The Ube Bismarck donuts definitely are a standout to me, they are to die for.

Tried 6 donuts, they aren't very good. Taste about the same as Dunkin donuts, and it was $18 for 6, it's really expensive. Charged extra for Bavarian creme, say they are specialty donuts. Bavarian creme is at every donut shop in the world, it's nothing specialty. They said they are made off site somewhere, so I assume the same factory as Dunkin or wherever gas station donuts come from. Actually 7-11 donuts are better. If you?re just looking for ?something sweet?, this place will be fine, but if you want a great doughnut, I?d keep looking. The doughnuts appear to be made from a mix; they?re fine but not amazing and if I?ve got a limited number of calories or carbs to spend on a treat, I?d rather wait for something awesome. I love this place that recently opened in Albany Park. Very creative and delicious doughnuts--my favorite is the Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting, yum! Just had an apple fritter that was light and very tasty. They have other pastries & breakfast items, & good coffee, but my main focus is on doughnuts...mmmm...doughnuts. Been craving donuts for the last week. Decided to treat myself. Friendly staff, amazing donuts. Usually glaze donuts melt away like Cheetos but these were filling and satisfying. The lemon curd was perfect. Great consistency, not too tart but not too sweet. Can?t wait to try the others I got. The special surprise for me was that they had ice cream too!!!
