Shorty's Donuts

Shorty's Donuts

Reviews Summary

Shorty's Donuts receives mostly positive feedback for its friendly staff, homely atmosphere, and scratch-made comfort food, particularly breakfast items like omelets, biscuits, and donuts. Many praise the reasonable prices and welcoming regulars. However, some criticize inconsistent food quality (burnt items, missing orders) and occasional slow service. A few negative reviews mention bad experiences (spoiled meat, hair in food), but most highlight the diner’s charm and loyal following. Service is either praised as warm or criticized as inattentive, depending on the visit. Overall, it’s a beloved local spot with minor flaws.

Finally got up early this morning to get me some shorty's. They were great. Had blueberry cake donuts, cinnamon rolls, and kalochi. Oh and don't forget the elephant ear. Yumm

Having eaten Pittsburgh hot links in Pittsburgh my entire life I was stoked to find Shorty's and see they prepare and serve their hot links in the manner I was used to in Pittsburgh.. the links were great, as I'm sure the rest of the menu is as well .. I'll definitely be a regular customer

I bought a Grill Chicken salad and it was $11, I will never do that again because it was worth it. Next time I?ll go back to Jason?s Deli where the salad is WORTH YOUR MONEY!

Well dounts was just ok not great. It's kind of little hard. (I bought 8.30 in the morning)

We eat here almost weekly and over the last few months this place has quickly gone downhill. I support local small businesses and love diners, but this last visit was horrible. I've recommended Shorty's to many people and I have to stop until yall pick up the slack. We brought family to the diner for their first time. Overall this visit was rife with problems including filthy tables and restrooms, understaffed wait staff (having to be overly apologetic for the problems) and unprepared kitchen that ran out

Recently had to do some work In Texarkana and found this place through google. Could not be more pleased with this breakfast spot. Do yourself a favor and have the ?old fashion? donut. Met the owners, they are there everyday and a pleasure to see when you come in. I will be back every time I am in the area!

Good people really it a family biz they know how to a company I think it in its 3rd generation owned rib eye and egg breakfast was grate I like the chocolate long john with Bavarian cream like I sed good people

Cuz one lady was taking my order and she missed heard that I wanted a small apple juice and then she thought I wanted a apple fritter

My grandpa used to bring me here when I was just a boy. So glad to see it's still in business and didn't loose it's Southern charm and hospitality.

I?ve been here 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I?ve been treated kind each time and service is always swift. I order the Pittsburgh hot links with chili and cheese on the side for my dad and I. I?ve tried their iced coffee and the pies. Everything is 10/10. To the lady with the glasses, curly hair, and tattoos I appreciate you so much! You always do an amazing job! ??

Honestly I ate here a year ago, and I ate here today. I believe in second chances and trying to support small/local businesses, but after giving them a second chance. I will not be back. On my first visit I got a BEC biscuit, it had a hair in it and mediocre at best. I can get past accidental hair, that's going to happen. Second visit, I ordered the 2 pancake meal, with 2 eggs and with bacon. $8.99 not an awful price, didn't receive my bacon. I also ordered a cake donut stick I believe is what the lady cal

No matter how bad of a day your are having, if the donuts and food won't put a smile on your face, the sweet ladies that work there sure will.

Very disappointed. Google says they're open on Sundays. Drove over here and they're not open on Sundays. Posted hours are Monday through Saturday only Came back today. Ordered a biscuit and sausage gravy. Flavor was alright, but I prefer creamier gravy. I will come back again.

Love Shorty's!! Excellent food for a reasonable price!

They make good breakfast and donuts

It's a lot more than donuts. Awesome food with amazing service!

Great place to get a bite to eat ??

Update It's been one of my go to places since the first review. If we were eating just the rate of the food it'd be higher. No complaints for the service by the ladies taking the orders, as they were sweet. We ordered a double bacon cheeseburger plain and dry and a burger no onions and well done fries. Fries were not well done, burger has lots of onions and the double bacon was not plain or dry. Exchanged the bacon burger, got a new one made but by the time we left with our to go order, we noticed there

I ordered the chicken strips with mashed potatoes and gravy and texas toast and I had no gravy on my mashed potatoes. Besides the fact of it taking thirty minutes to get our food.

Very friendly service and great food at a fair price. My favorite breakfast place!

Killer breakfast joint!!! Very glad my wife and I stumbled into this place. Very worth the drive. It's name is misleading, donuts are served, but their omelets were freaking awesome!!! We will be back and it was very worth the drive!! Revisit: Back again, same service and food!!! Glad to have found this place!

This is a local restaurant that has been around Texarkana forever. I had an omelet, and it was excellent. I also really enjoyed the biscuits on the side. I highly recommend getting a side of salsa with the omelette. The prices were also good. I highly recommend you check it out! They have donuts, but they have so much more. The service was a little slow as far as getting a refill on my drink, but they did a good job taking my order and getting my food out. As far as atmosphere, it has a bit of that hometow

Very good breakfast platter holy crap good.

Amazingly outgoing staff, friendly environment, with great homemade food! Went in for a to-go order for the first time and was offered to taste sausages before ordering! Even left with free donuts, 10/10 will be back! Never had a better experience.

The donuts are always yummy and somehow taste like they were just made no matter what time of day you go there! The girl at the drive thru window was super nice and she even gave my dog a plain donut! She was so pleasant and cheerful, a nice way to start the day!

A female worker wiped a customer chili cup with her shirt and I was balford. I stated poor customer service everywhere and once I got my order most of my Pittsburg hot links burnt. Put I had a appointment and couldn't take them back. Oan I've seen roaches crawling on the walls in that place so be careful

One of the hidden treasures in a big city. Found this place by accident but enjoyed the home style cooking. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a slab of ham, everything was delicious and I'm a picky eater.

They used to be good I'm not sure what happened. They have young girls running everything. We had our order taken twice in the drive thru. When we got our order it's half of what they give you inside and my grandma tried to get a senior breakfast and all they gave her was bacon and eggs. I don't think we will be coming back here sadly

Shorty's Donut's was a good place to go for great service and a nostalgic diner type atmosphere. The breakfast burrito that I had was okay. I could tell that it was homemade because it didn't have that "processed chain restaurant" taste, which really appealed to me. My daughter enjoyed her meal more than I, but I repeat, it wasn't bad at all, just okay. I plan to go back and try other menu items because I could see that the people that seemed to be regulars here really seem to enjoy it.

Ordered catfish on Friday and was not very impressed. Food itself was not cooked that great and size portion was not good. Service is also very questionable at times, waitress was not very good and had to get refill for my sweet tea several times myself. Also had to hear several waitresses gripping and complaining about their job, etc while I was there. Service overall needs improvement.

Friendliest wait staff ever. Bacon cheeseburger was yummy. Sweet Sadie replaced my sweet treats when my sack overturned and my twist and fried pie hit the floor. Sure was happy about that... delicious!! Next time I pass through Texarkana, I may have to make a stop ??

This place is not a fast food place. It is a ole fashion dining experience. I love that you can go order a cup of coffee and done breakfast and just sit and talk with who ever is with you.. not a noisy place ,but a busy place . They have great service personal, those ladies up there are sweet, conversational, kind and friendly. I support it because it's a small business run by hometown people. #shortysforbreakfast

Besides the wait times, this place is great. There's a lot of locals who you can tell are regulars and for good reason, the food is great. The inside is kind of cramped but it's not a huge issue as the people and staff are really nice. They are a bunch to busy women busting their butts to get the job done and it shows.

It's been awhile since we've ate at Shorty's and it will be a while longer. As always, food and coffee was good but their service is horrible. I didn't get the oj with my breakfast and we Never got any coffee refills. Apparently you have to be a constant regular to not get ignored in there?! And yet they asked for a tip....I don't think so! Smh

The biscuits were very dry , the gravy was sour ( found out it was made 2 days ago, I take it that the biscuits were not freshly made either). The donuts were raw in the middle ( the large butter rolls donuts and apple fritters). I was deeply disappointed , because it was a once a great place to eat. The tables were sticky and unclean. We will not go back again. Praying Noone gets sick from the food and that they can pull things together again. God bless and good luck Shortys!!!

Great service, definitely worth 15% or more tip. Amazing crew here at this Christian establishment. Very clean and very clean cut friendly people. No need to go anywhere else for lunch if your passing by and absolutely no better place for breakfast.

This place has really great food but the customer service is beyond awful. You'll wait in the drivethru line for 30 mins if not longer before it's even your turn. Even when you get to the window, someone doesn't come to the window until an amount of time. We had to call and say we were at the drive thru window and still waited for a long time. While waiting at the window, 3 other vehicles left. Finally when the worker tara came to take our order she was arguing with the other worker courtney and telling us

Cold donuts who does that. Flat drink can and fountain took 20 mins to get our food we got 2 donuts and a fountain drink and can drink and they where rude

The bacon cheese burger is very good, would be better if the bun would stay together. I always try to eat lunch at Shorty's when I'm in the neighborhood. Quick service, staff does a good job.

Wow! What else is there to say, the place is a jam up! After being out of town for the past two weeks out of tejas, we felt right at home. The owner is something else! Made my morning, with her great character, joking around and the great food! ???????? EAT HERE FOR YOU DAILY DOSE OF GREAT Breakfast! ????????

What an awesome staff! They have the best taco salad. We used to own a restaurant and the sraff that work there are exactly the kind of workers we would have hired. Keep up the good work!

Always enjoy the homemade food and clean restaurant. Service is always great. They also have daily lunch specials.

Great place for breakfast. Service was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Could use some updating on the interior but it was roomy and comfortable.

Another Texarkana-staple! Family owned comfort food. Highly recommend the burgers. Their links are similar to boudin so a big heads up if you?re texture-sensitive.

Good place to meet old friends, have breakfast and conversation. The staff are busy but friendly and to get to know their customers, keep all the coffee cups filled and good, hot food out as it's ready. It's the breakfast place in Texarkana. Oh, and lunch too.

Got donuts and butter roll @ 830 a.m. Saturday 4/15/23. Very ,Very Disappointed. Donuts and butter roll were COLD. not freshly baked that morning. Used to go shortys and donuts would be still warm and fresh. Will not go back

Awesome food and great customer service. The waitress even gave me a wet wipe to get the egg off my sons face . Definitely will be dining here again!!

The breakfast is not worth the price. The toast was dry and burnt, the sausage was dry, and the hashbrowns were so Greasy .

Service was timely food was great highly recommend

Have only been there twice before the waitress knew exactly what we wanted or had something for us to try that she knew we'd like. Hidden Gem.

It's a lovely place to bring your family to eat lunch at.

We absolutely love Shortys the doughnuts are out of this world, the service is always top notch and the atmosphere is down home feel.

It has to be a new cook because i order the same thing when I go and its not been good the past couple of visit. 2x2x2 is what I get and my pancakes has been burned and bacon was kinda burn so I'm gone give them a break and maybe they'll get it together.

Great place! Food and service are great. I had a chili do for breakfast and it was bomb. My wife had an omelette. Solid.

The bread on the kolache was very dry on the outside and doughy on the inside. The old fashioned was good.. way too expensive for me $14 for 1 donut, 2 kolaches, and 2 milks.

I love Shorty's. My mom and I used to eat breakfast here. I miss my mom. Warm feelings when I walk in, the food is great, but the lady's are even greater.

Always the best food and don't get me started on the staff... They are the freaking best!

It used to be the BEST doughnut shop in town. But friday I bought a dozen mixed doughnuts. Got 3 big cinnamon rolls, 2 apple fritters, one glazed roll, and 2 small cake doughnuts. First of all that is not a dozen and second d of all the fritters and the glazed roll were RAW dough in the middle. Needless to say I won't be back.

I grew up in Texarkana, Shortys was awesome when I was kid and when I moved 20 years ago. I stopped in with my family from Wisconsin excited to try a childhood favorite and it was exactly the same! Thank you for being the best, and changing nothing keep up the good work I?ll be back.

They have what I love turkey sausage the fact that I can get turkey sausage with anything that I want they will give my business forever

Saw this place on Google maps and decided to stop for breakfast. Busy but great service and great food. Will definitely stop again next time in the area.

Love this place. The owner is on site and the food is great. Anyone looking for a great breakfast at a reasonable price should definitely stop in.

I had lunch here today. I ordered one dozen of the Pittsburgh hotlinks. They had a bad taste and I realized the meat was bad. I tried all day to call but the phone was busy until 3:30 at which time it just rang with no answer.

Always great food and even better service! Always friendly and like a home type feel place

A great breakfast and very friendly folks. I enjoy the fellowship of the crowd that join just about every morning. Everyone makes one feel right at home.

Food is always great and it's great to get good home cooked food instead of going to these fast food places and the price is worth it ! Good customer service as well!

Good food! Great donuts! Friendly owner and staff. Eclectic wall decor, definitely will be back.

We absolutely love this place, delicious food and a friendly staff. I love the breakfast burrito and the breakfast quesadilla.

The best diner in Texarkana. Everything is amazing from their breakfast to lunch. They treat you like family. Guaranteed to smile

Our waitress was super friendly. The food was not very good, though. Not even the glazed donuts were good. I was pretty disappointed.

The owner went out of her way, literally, to make things right with my orde . Made my day. Great customer service and great food!!

Christen invariant, Great service and people who take time to show their appreciation and love to their customers. Thank you for the cinnamon rolls. God is Good !????????

Haven't been there yet but I go to Covington every first of the month but July tha first I'm going to try it out but by looking at the presentations of food I know it's a five star

The kolaches and croissants are awesome. Would have rated higher but the service was lacking. Will go back and try again though!!!

Had the Pittsburgh hot links, with chili and cheese, very good like the hot sauce a lot, diet soda was a little flat.

Great service, great food, great prices. Cozy, old school diner atmosphere. Friendly staff. I'll be back!

I go by Shortys at least twice a week, freindly staff, great food, and great atmosphere. Gotta try them hot links. Stack them deep with all the fixings you won't be disapointed

Real food made from scratch. Awesome community atmosphere. Immediately made welcome by the regulars. Definitely adding as a must stop anytime I come through!

Best donuts by far. Great staff. Wonderful place to sit down and eat breakfast. Try them and you will always come back.

Cant complain some of the best donuts since i moved here to Texarkana. And the food is great also. Come visit and enjoy good food and the peoples are friendly and employees very nice also.

Went there about 11 today and had hot links chili cheese and a cheeseburger topped with chili it was the best in town

This is legit Southern style, my whole family enjoyed the links, we are still reserving the donuts later on our family picnic but we will definitely be back.

This place is old fashioned donut shop they're open at a split shift time during the day they get a lot of local business with police officers . A farmer that lives down the road and someone that leaves a very simple life as myself the donuts are absolutely worth a drive in miles! Bring the Family and stay around Texarkana long enough for LUNCH YOU SHOULD TRY SHORTY'S CHEESEBURGER I'VE ONLY ATE ONE I TRIED ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I HAD A FRIEND TO GO PICK ME UP A CHEESEBURGER THERE THINKING IT WAS A LITTLE TO

Oh my goodness! Yummy and the staff was exceptional! Cozy with walls covered with antiques and cute pics.

Great Breakfast Sandwich and amazing service always friendly. Highly recommend them for breakfast or lunch

Its the BEST PLACE to have Breakfast, and Lunch, hopefully they'll be able to be open for Dinner/Super. Love they're food, and donuts

My grandsons first visit. He said better than mcdonalds. He is 4th generation to eat here. Shortys never disappoints.

Delicious breakfast burrito, much bigger than expected. It was almost more than I could finish.
