Shaikh's Place

Shaikh's Place

Reviews Summary

The donuts are consistently praised for being fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced, with many calling them the best in NYC. Service is polarizing—some find staff friendly, but multiple reviews cite rude behavior, particularly from certain employees. The diner offers a wide, affordable menu, including tacos and burgers, though cleanliness and restroom conditions are criticized. While the old-school vibe appeals to many, poor customer service deters others, leading to mixed ratings despite the standout donuts.

Customer Reviews

Delicious sweet donuts i would eat them a million times, although the other food is alright but the breakfast is delicious. The seats are damaged although and it?s an old place but yet it?s good. Very cheap donuts and delicious i love this place. If you are looking for donuts and don?t want to spend three dollars like dunkin i recommend this place.

This is my go-to spot for late-night cravings. The deals are unbeatable?from the crazy donut special to the double bacon cheeseburger. I?m giving the food five stars because, for the price, it?s a solid 5/5. Let?s be real?you?re not getting a world-class burger with fries for $6.50. The only thing I wouldn?t recommend is the mozzarella sticks.

Good food and good service. The cheeseburger with fries was good, especially for the price. The bacon egg and cheese was fair. Next time I would ask for extra eggs cheese and extra bacon. The donuts are delicious and fresh. I was able to sit down and enjoy everything for a late breakfast. The food hit the spot. I would come back here again. The lady serving is nice. The cook makes good food.

Nothing really to complain about with the atmosphere and service. the donuts were very very cheap for the size they give. You can get a dozen donuts for 10 bucks. Not the best donuts ever, not as sweet as dunkin donuts, but again for the price it is totally worth it. When i went there was a deal for a bakers dozen for 10 dollars

I went to buy the breakfast and when I got to the store I found a customer before me he was an old man with short beard. His English wasn?t perfect. I was watching Bcs I was next to him on the line . The employee there was very rude and disrespectful. The guy tried to tell him what he wanna buy but the employee keep saying tell me what you want ( he want him to name which donuts he want) but the guy couldn?t . than the old man got a very fellings. Unprofessional what he did. And for me I didn?t buy anythin

Ordered delivery and received burned chalupa which is inedible, flavorless burger and wrong soda that I don?t drink. At least call and let me know that you are out of something and ask what I would like as a replacement.

I've been going to the restaurant & donut shop for over 50 years. These are the best tasting donuts around which are made on the premises....& fresh ones (all kinds) usually comes out around 1pm daily. My favorite donuts are: Bow ties, glaze, strawberry frosted, jelly, Bavarian, apple crumb, and many chocolate types which I don't do much, etc. They have counter seating & a couple of tables for their customers who have breakfast, lunch & possibly dinner (Google for their menu).

Local donut place with cash only. Good for breakfast and very cheap. I got eggs and croissant, hot coffee and end up with ice lemonade. Some of the menu on the wall isn't available because they didn't update. The charm of local place is you can experience the style of the store, how true the person is, raw reaction etc.

One of the few 24/7 places left after covid, in sheepshead bay/ Midwood. Prices are not inflated and wait time is barely anything. Food options range from quesadillas to burritos to donuts to Horchata or Jamaica, to burgers to tacos. Great night staff. Just avoid the 10 am morning time or you?ll run into a sassy Latino. Otherwise night staff are great, it?s social sometimes at night, and food hits the spot.

Terrible customer service! The cashier at this donut shop was extremely rude and unhelpful. She seemed annoyed when I asked a simple question and made the whole experience unpleasant. Definitely not coming back!

I order Doordash from here 1-2 times a week always excellent food and I've tried alot of their items

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Delicious, freshly made, and YUMMMMMY donuts... Our favorites include but not limited to: Old Fashion Crumb, Apple crumb, Boston Cream, Powdered jelly. By the way, their food is just as yummy! The tacos (especially chicken) & burgers (bacon & cheese) are outstanding. Prices are great, food delicious, and opened 24 hours!

I went for the first time here. The seller was very rude and unprofessional. The first and the last time for me to go there. U feel like u getting a free food but I?m paying you sir . Be respectful

Nostalgic donut shop kind of like the ones you used to see some thirty years ago before Dunkin donuts ruled the donut business. Donuts were very good but the service was not. The guy with the glasses talks down to you as if this was the 1970s. This is 2025 not 1975. Unfortunately they have that old school attitude and it's a matter of time before they get sued by someone. This should have been five stars unfortunately the attitude brought it down to two

based on my own experience, the cashier was discriminating. he was very rude to us and other customers, but was kind to a few other customers. he was super impatient and rude. wasn't accommodating at all. the food is good, but if you expect respect, i don't recommend going to this place.

This placed used to be a gem. Original owners made this place a staple in the neighborhood. Don't know who owns it now but ever since then the customer service has been terrible and the food has in my opinion taken a turn for the worst. The donuts are the only redeeming factor for this spot. Would come more often but I'd prefer not to be treated poorly just to buy a dozen donuts. Wish the old owners still ran the place

I?ve been coming here for at least 8 years. The staff is helpful and provides professional and precise service. The donuts are made in house and are amazing. The tacos are huge - pork is a fav. Bring cash! 10/10

Donuts Great, Coffee Great, Food Great, Pickles Great, Prices Great, Cook Great - but Holy Smokes the counterman! Never saw such uncompromising bitter rudeness before in one person. Other than that - this is a down-home five star everything else place of great character you don't often find in Brooklyn any more...

I just ordered from Uber because I'm not feeling great and was craving some french toast. This place? Perfect french toast!!!! If you enjoy a classic diner like french toast, they make it perfect! They even included room temp butter ?? thoughtful with high-quality! I will be in next week to buy myself some birthday donuts ?? ??

The glazed doughnuts are excellent and other pastries I've had are as good as or better than you'll find elsewhere. The sign says 4 doughnuts are $3.75, but they always ask for $4. WHY?!?! I'm a cheapskate because I don't want to pay more than the menu says??? Today, I got cheated by a dollar for getting incorrect change of a $20, but didn't realize it until after I left. NOT RIGHT, people. Not right.

Always come for donuts no matter how far I have to travel?today service sucked short Mexican lady with glasses was extremely rude and inconsiderate!!!! I ordered 10 donuts as usual?I then saw the Special was 13 for $10? so I asked for 3 more donuts and she refused to give me 3 more donuts for the total of $10 wanted me to pay an additional $3. Really not that serious I am very disappointed I hope she gets the helps she needs bc she def ruined my day !!

Imagine you are coming home from a night out with friends and you're coming out the train hungry. I went the Shaikh's place at midnight and ordered a Quesadilla with pork(the have other options as well) took 7-10 minutes to get come to plate and would have to say it's really good. I have had their tacos as well and that's great too for a well established price. Often when I want something sweet I would choose here. Get a few donuts and we are good to go. No pictures for now but will follow up with some.

Edited to now include review of employees. Donuts still a 5. The staff, however, get 3 stars. In my past experiences, they are never courteous. You say thank you, and they just stay quiet as if you never said a word. Original review: My review is mainly for the donuts. I was waiting for a friend and was drawn in by the smell of donuts. Decided to go in and hands down one of the best sugar donuts I've ever had. The jelly donut was pretty good, and the glazed were just delicious. Will definitely be coming ba

9.25 for 2 donuts, bacon cheeseburger with fries. The donuts (glazed & frosted strawberry) were so light and fluffy and most importantly, not overly sweet. Bacon cheeseburger and fries was your standard diner fare...cheap for the portion given.

Absolutely delicious, the worker is welcoming and warming, not expensive (only cash) and just an overall amazing experience. Older generations of my family have gone here and never changed and has always been amazing. Definitely recommend!!

I HAVE BEEN GIVING THIS RESTERAUNT THOUSANDS & THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS ORDERING 3 MEALS A DAY. THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT I SEE A HUGE DECLINE IN THE QUALITY. EXAMPLE #1) THE FRESHLY MADE APPLE TURNOVERS WERE THE BEST AROUND, ALLOT OF APPLES INSIDE, BUT TONIGHT, I GOT A FLATTENED OUT EMPTY TURNOVER WITH A VERY GREASY BOTTOM. LOOKED & TASTED STALE. EXAMPLE #2) FOR 2 YEARS I HAVE BEEN HAVING ALMOST EVERY CUP OF HOT COFFEE LEAK BADLY INTO THE SAME BAG WITH MY FOOD THAT GOT RUINED MANY TIMES.

Worse donut shops. The lady this morning was very rude. Long wait time, even longer wait if you order from Uber eats. Avoid at all costs. Oh and cash only seriously 2025.

Love these donuts.. Fresh, soft last for days. A dozen donuts under $10 bucks. Except it looking like an old greasy spoon donut shop ,these donuts are very good and fresh!

I grew up around the area and this place has had consistently great donuts my whole life :)

Bad service, not educated people, unrespectful to the customer, dirty place. I don't know how their get a B certified restaurant, they should have a C or in a vestigation instead of B, and also they table are dirty have fly flying anywhere including the place where they put the donut have insect flying and eating.... Dark place, place full of oil in the wall, The restroom almost look like never clear........ The only good thing is that their food is a on a good price of menu. This review is not punishing

The most delicious donuts in New York. I have had my share of donuts ?? and I can truly say these are quite a treat ??.

The guy is always not polite. Been there a few times to get donuts. Donuts are fresh but customer service is horrible.

Not only are the donuts fantastic, but so is the price !!! The Best place !

I wasn't going to make a review until I seen a recent review where a picture of a worker was posted and was rude to a customer. That same employee was ridiculously rude and disrespectful to me as well while I was with my son. I usually order on grubhub so I decided to go in person yesterday to check it out in person with my son, I asked for a box of donuts and the employee went on to ask how much donuts so I say a dozen where he responds look at the sign then come back to order (because a dozen there is 13)

"Happy ?? Day" - Shaikh's fresh doughnuts hit the spot. Made Fresh, Fluffy, and Savory. Cash Only in-store, but you can order via card on grubhub.

Classic donut shop with counter service. Donuts were simple, fresh and delicious. And only $1. Came on a Saturday afternoon, donuts tasted like they were made an hour earlier. Vanilla frosted was the highlight of my trip

The worst place ever to eat the guy with glasses was very rude to us yelling all the time and overpriced the bathroom was mad dirty had many roaches and flys everywhere it smelled so bad inside I ate 3 tacos with me and my mom and most of the chicken was mostly bones very nasty I couldn?t even eat the tacos anymore my stomach hurted at the end so bad don?t not eat in this place it is very disgusting do not recommend at all

Great prices at this nice 24 hour diner that sells nice soft donuts.

Old school deliciousness! I grew up in this neighborhood and it's one of the few OG shops still remaining. Yeast doughnuts are soft, fluffy and chewy. Cake doughnuts are hearty. Staff is super friendly and the prices can't be beat! Definitely a gem. Cash only.

The donuts are good but the guy behind the counter is very rude and disrespectful.

Never go to this place if you love your life and time. The place is disgusting and makes u wait forever. Even for just a cup of coffee almost 30 minutes wait with only 3 customers. Wow

The donuts are amazing take cash when you go is small place but is great

My gf and I were biking by and this fun little shop caught her eye.. and Im glad it did. Its simple - tasty. Cant beat a quality $1 donut! YUM!

Been sitting at the counter for an hour and the guy here is refusing to take my order. It?s beyond disturbing. There is only one other person here now and they already ordered.

No glitz and glamor here but Great food and truly reasonable pricing. Friendly staff. A hidden gem. Edit** prices are creeping up

IN LOVEEEE Very delicious food, bigger portions compared to other places, reasonable price

Takes me back to what doughnut used to taste like. Amazing veriety and flavors. Light and fluffy, never greasy and no wierd aftertaste like some major chains.

Hole in the wall and not much to look at but the donuts are what we're here for. Baked fresh daily in the afternoons I believe. Large variety, personal favorites are the crullers, twists and toasted coconut ??

Is the price good for the amount of food you get? Yes. Is the food good? Not really. It?s very bland. It gives me homemade vibes but not in a good way. I think you?re better off just not eating than paying to eat something that doesn?t really taste good.

loved it! great prices and quick service. man at the counter was nice as well. even better that it's open all the time. admire the work ethic!!

Best local donut shop. I love their jelly donut. They have a lot of fresh options. Also they have good coffee. If you want a lil more they also make tacos and food items like that. The tacos are decent.

Best doughnuts ?? in nyc Apple ?? crumble is the best. Hint when in NYC if the shop attitude is horrible. The food/pastry is top notch. If they are overly nice. ??

Delicious donuts. But sometimes the apple ones can be fermented never had a problem with the other donuts. The pork chop platter and various sandwiches are tasty

This is the worst place I?ve ever ever been to. They have the worst customer service . Not to mention their dining area is FILTHY ! Other than being somewhat cheap that?s it . There donuts are the only thing they have to offer . LASTLY THE COOK IN THE AFTERNOON /EVENING HAS SOME SORT OF ATTITUDE . He literally acts as if he hates his life and job because clearly it?s noticeable. The place is a mess . GET IT TOGETHER

The best donuts in NYC. The food is amazing the coffee is on point always fresh I love this place always worth the trip.

The shop is clean and staff was extremely friendly. They had a good selection of doughnuts/donuts and pastries. I would highly recommend stopping by.

Love them tacos Have some Donuts it a must Great atmosphere Best service

The guy was super helpful and patient while I was trying to pick out donuts. I?m a bit indecisive so it took me a couple of minutes to figure out which donuts to get! ??

Cleanness - 0 Courtesy - 0 Attention to orders - 0 Horrible. Saw a roach running across a countertop. This group of workers found each other. They are all delusional, rude, have personality disorders, one guy thinks he runs Pentagon. They all need serious psychological help. Maybe thats how they ran their business someplace else but its definitely not the right way of running it here in our local community. No attention to any order. I walked into the place to witness an argument of two individua

The guy had terrible attitude. I was with the family and the donut guy kept screaming. Disgusting behavior never coming back again. Thousands of donut shops around better to get a donut with respect.

Don't know how to be patient, don't know, communicate with customers, make up his own prices, and judges people how they look, especially Middle easterns. I wouldn't first responders and family and friends to this place. I was next in line to order, but I had a quick question to ask so the guy in the glasses decided not to answer my question went to take care the next customer in line by the way you're a scumbag for that and decided to rush me and not answer my question. Donuts were terrible and hard to che

Everything in the spot is fire. Customer service was shaky but that?s old school New York for you. The food and price can?t be beat. Best donut and sandwiches I?ve had in a long time in NYC.

Although the food was very good, it's painfully obvious that this location must have a multi-million dollar refresh... Handwritten signs written on paper that has become greasy from being posted for so many years. The bathroom is in horrible condition and the countertops are very worn...

Old school local diner with fresh donuts coming out. The more expensive baked goods are in the window but a dozen reg donuts are $10. The food is hot and fresh. Cheeseburger with fries are $7 add bacon and whatever it gets close to $10. Tacos are here too, which are two soft tacos holding either beef, pork or chicken for $3. Chicken leg with rice is the best bargain about $7. Jarritos soda is here. Restroom is gnarly though. Right off the Q train or take the b3 bus. Shop the Chinatown area afterwards

Came to get some coffee, was standing there forever. They just ignored me and kept talking among themselves! No one ever came and offered help.Terrible customer service

Best doughnuts ?? first time getting doughnuts from here best choice I ever made

Shaikh's been a neighborhood spot to go to for breakfast for me. They open very early hours and I can get a cup of coffee and yummy donut to go. I like the different donut and pastry options they have. Their selection is different from Dunkin Donuts or the Chinese bakeries, so I appreciate this unique and one of a kind place. I never actually dined in but I see patrons there that must be regulars, and I believe they serve diner/breakfast item foods. I'll perhaps give dining-in a try sometime. The staff seem

Foods good and cheap not the cleanest but if you can get around that and there open 24/7 The guy cooking is a wiz the guy who makes the donuts is good at making donuts but the poor guy can?t take Orders his mjnd is on his donuts. They do need help Saturday nights to take orders. But overall Great place and still 5 stars

Love this place. Have been getting donuts there since early 1980s. Shaikh has done a phenomenal job since buying the place many years ago. We were visiting Brooklyn from Michigan and had to stop to get donuts. We order 3 dozen in advance and bought a other where we got there. The cinnamon sugar donuts were amazing as always. We got back to Michigan and the donuts taste great a day later. We froze a couple of dozens crullers because they defrost and taste excellent!!! Shaikh Thanks for keeping the same d

Coffee is ok. But the donuts are all phenomenal. Prices are good as well.

This greasy spoon coffee shop is awesome. Fresh delicious doughnuts all day long. Counter service for short order plates of freshly made food. Shaikh's can't be beat. In a world where long standing diners are closing because nobody wants to pay $20 for breakfast, this place stands strong! Pay no mind to the haters complaining about rude service... THIS PLACE IS BROOKLYN!

Donuts are good but service is horrible. The employees do not cater to the customers needs but only to the cash register. They are rude and abrasive. You often hear them yelling at customers when a question is asked. Very poor customer service. If not for their donuts I would never go there again

The freshest, best tasting donuts. A world of difference from the chains. Terrific spot and speedy service. Hot, delicious coffee as well. And so reasonably(cheap) priced. Plus, I grew up in Sheepshead Bay. It?s great to see this place in business, busy and doing things properly aka. The old fashioned way.

This review is purely based on their donuts. Some of their donuts are average but they have some that are just freaking delicious. They don?t always have the ones I have out, probably cuz they?re sold out. Best glazed donut I?ve ever had, would highly recommend their glazed donut. Coffee here is $1 for the small size. They serve a variety of foods, although I haven?t tried any of it, it is still an impressive feat. I noticed some of the reviews mention poor service. I didn?t receive bad service, but in no w

The reason for 1 star is the EXTREMELY RUDE MEXICAN MAN at the counter and just as RUDE MEXICAN WOMAN. The donuts are delicious and it?s my second time going there. When I walked in, he was being very rude to an African American man. He can hardly speak English but was rude and abrupt with me as well. He said if I can?t speak English, he will say it in Spanish. The first visit, it was the woman working the counter. They are both stinking rude and this place will lose a lot of business if they don?t fire the

Some of the best donuts if not anywhere than certainly on this side of Brooklyn. The donuts are made fresh daily in the early afternoon so depending on when you go their offerings may be extremely limited to almost nonexistent. They also serve food at the counter for a reasonable price; reminiscent of an old luncheonette.

The donuts here are really well priced (~$1 a donut) and the quality is fairly consistent. To be blunt its not the best donut you'll get but it's to be expected given the price. Personally I would stay away from the jelly/custard donut because they are barely filled at all (roughly a dime drop within the donut). The customer service here is hit or miss but for the most part it is a miss. The cashier's are unattentive and rude, from my multiple visits I have seen the same thing happen time and time again. Th

Amazing little old school lunch counter. 24 hours, very reasonably priced, quick, good food, staff really nice. I mean the portions aren't huge but they're not tiny and when they're 5 bucks, just get 2!

Love this place. Would give 5 stars but fresh donuts come out at 1:00pm every day and that prevents me from being able to get donuts for the kids for breakfast unless I'm there by 6:00am. But they truly are worth the wake up. Very reasonable price food also.

My favorite late night spot. Can get good food for a good price. The donuts are pretty good too

Best Donuts you can buy from anywhere. They are 100% better than Dunkin Donuts and more economical. This small store has been around since the 1970's. I live in Brooklyn but I travel to Delaware to work and I brought in 2 dozen donuts to share with my co-workers and now they want me to place orders for them. This is how good their donuts are. I kid you not. I just hope they don't sky rocket their prices and keep it the same.

Terrible experience at this establishment. Counter person was very rude and condescending when I was placing my order. Worst of all, the donuts aren't even good. They have an awful after taste of old frying oil. If you're thinking of coming here, just go to Dunkin Donuts. You'll have a better chance at getting kind service and at least an edible donut.

It's a great place, I go there to get my breakfast. The people are kind and welcoming. However, waiting for the food occasionally takes a while (so order ahead of time) my orders do get mixed up rarely (but it's normal people make mistakes) the bacon egg and cheese is really good, but the muffins don't really taste like the flavor they are supposed to be...

Absolutely love this place. I ordered the egg, meat and home fries option, and an apple turnover. Very good. I even appreciate that they gave me a free donut with my order, because now I know I like their donuts, which is what I was afraid of. I just wish they would list on the app what donuts they have available, to make it easier to order a dozen donuts that I can choose from.

Got 13 dounts for about 11 or 12 dollars I believe. Amazing donuts.

I love the donuts, and I'm so glad that they're $1 here!! They're so tasty!! I also had Scrambled Eggs on a roll, and it was good!

Spanish guy with glasses has an insane attitude. Always fighting with customers over names of donuts. Pronouncing it himself wrong. People get confused. Tried to overcharge me many times. Always skipping people in line. Horrible, horrible attitude

Donuts are good- but after coming here last week there was an older guy in the front with glasses who was EXTREMELY rude to my mother (aggressive/rushing), and normally i don't care but you can't treat customers (or for that matter, people) like that. Safe to say if I see him again, I'll turn around and try to get diabetes somewhere where it doesn't come with a side of attitude, tyvm.
