Schuler's Bakery Inc.

Schuler's Bakery Inc.

Reviews Summary

Schuler's Bakery receives mostly positive reviews for its delicious doughnuts, cakes, and treats, with many praising their quality and taste. However, some customers express dissatisfaction with inconsistent freshness, limited customization for cakes, and occasional poor service. The bakery's closure on Sundays and Mondays and outdated signage also draw criticism. While many highlight friendly staff and nostalgic value, others note declining quality compared to the past. Pricing is mentioned as slightly high, and availability of certain items can be hit-or-miss. Overall, it remains a favorite for its classic baked goods but faces mixed feedback on service and consistency.

The sign broadcasting your intolerant views is enough for 1 star alone. I grew up enjoying Schuler's Doughnuts (usually on SUNDAYS) but had I known they were filled with hate I would have left them long ago. Now apparently they're also made with that same hate because they were low tier at best. Glad there's another option closer to me now.

Always love the chocolate Bismarck! My only complaint is Im always craving them on Sundays and Mondays. ??

I generally enjoy their cookies and love supporting local businesses. Especially ones that support our country and its troops. My problem here is that I came in to order some red velvet cupcakes with bright orange frosting for my kids' bday 2 weeks in advance and was told that I must have the white cream cheese icing. That I could not pay more for orange. That food coloring could not be used to turn the white cream cheese icing into orange cream cheese icing. Outright refusal. MUST. BE. WHITE. CREAM. CHEE

The chocolate donuts are awesome great chocolate frosting and lots on each donut.

Donuts taste like they are made with gritty unmelted sugar. At 8am they start to get stiff like they were made the night before. Back in the day Schuelers was good. Now their donuts suck and they close for no reason on Sundays and Mondays. Also... the sign they put in the door is just ignorant. In this country you shouldn't need to announce your intolerant views toward others at the door.

Attempted to order a birthday cake for my son, nothing fancy. I was informed I had to choose one of the cakes from their book and that they couldn't deviate from the designs whatsoever. Frankly, none of their designer cakes were attractive or even close to what I was looking for. I asked if I could get just plain white icing with colored roses, trim, and writing. Again I was told I had to order a cake from the book. Back in the day, you could order a Schuler's cake with writing and roses, no big deal. Right

Schuler's was the best. They've closed Sunday and Monday and closed all but two stores, so you think they would have items to purchase there. We just went to Derr at 6:15 on a Friday night. They have no chocolate cream filled doughnuts, chocolate Bismarck's, chocolate cupcakes, strawberry jelly filled, caramel cream filled and more. My wife asked if they had brownies and after a couple minutes she said we might have a couple of those in the back, which they did. It's going to be a rough couple hours with no

Visited 8/2/2020 Sunday at 5:30 pm, Original location. Blessed miracle! They still had chocolate covered cream filled donuts available this late on a Sunday. I also got cinnamon rolls. Buy a dozen get the 13th free. Delicious as always. I live in Columbus so this is a real treat.

Schuler?s is a Springfield classic that used to be a must-have every time I visited town. It?s gone really far downhill since my childhood. They?ve greatly expanded and, in turn, quality isn?t a fraction of what it used to be. Their donuts used to be so soft and you used to be able to purchase them early in the morning when they were still warm. Unfortunately, not now. Please bring back ?the home of homemade?.

Fantastic! The best ever! I love everything about Schuler's Bakery! The cupcakes, cookies, muffins and Cakes are truly Legendary! The customer service is always great! My wife and I totally recommend this place for birthday parties and other special occasions!

My husband's favorite childhood bakery. 20 years ago he moved over 1100 miles away. Since then all visiting relatives bring Schuler's gingerbread men with them. We even preorder a dozen whenever we make it back to town. Thank you for the yummy goodies and happy memories!

How can you be closed on Sunday's and Monday? This is not the Schuler's we grew up on. First you started using cheaper ingredients and cutting corners. You screwed up the quality. Now you close on Sundays and Mondays. I miss the days when schuler's chose people over insane profits. You are not Chick-fil-A . Shame on you.

Not only do they have great doughnuts, they have amazing staff as well. I work at an Urgent Care by Schuler's Bakery. Today, they came in with a box of donuts and stated that people always come in with colds and coughs so they thought they would come in with some donuts. This is a great thing for the company. We greatly appreciate your time and effort to make the donuts, and take the time out of your day to make our day! :) Great customer service! Thank you for making our day.

Donuts were hard and not many to chose from. Help want very helpful. Drove 20 min out of my way for these donuts everyone talks about and the were like cardboard. Had to take them back home and nuke them in order to eat a soft donut. Never again. They must pay the people who write reviews. All I read is good all I taste is bad

Love the gingerbread and glazed. To bad you can't get a honey crueller or apple fritter. And can we acknowledge the way the Derr Rd store front looks? Wow!

I?m soooo bummed. I?m not trying to get special treatment or anything but I love 30 seconds down the road and it was 758p and I didn?t realize they closed at 8p so I called really fast and asked if they?d stay open in time for me to get down there and they said if I?m in the parking lot at 8 they would let me in. It was 801-802p and they had locked the door and no one was in sight. For being a home feel type company they could?ve stayed open for two extra minutes considering I called and asked. Let alone th

It?s just a shame what happens to a local family business as it fades into nothing. We?ve gone here w my grandparents for decades and that tradition is almost over. Quality is down. Open hours are ridiculous (closed Sunday & Monday?!). It?s like they?re writing a book on how to self destruct.

Your motto is a lie. You can no longer be the home of homemade when your cakes are filled with icky ingredients. Polysorbate 60, propylene glycol among many other terrible for you and unnecessary ingredients. I have never once made a cake from scratch that had such a long and unpronounceable list of ingredients. Plus the ingredients for for your items really should be posted on the website, people should be able to know what is in the food they are going to be buying.

Amazing and always amazing!!!! I've been enjoying delicious homemade donuts, cookies and cakes since I was a little girl. I'm still a little girl at 35 and always get my cravings when I get in town from North Carolina! Thank you Schuler's for growing with me and sharing so many holidays together!!!

My favorite place to get donuts ?? and cakes best time to go is in the AM because it?s the most fresh. Also my friend went in here and they had a sign up saying that they took EBT OR SNAP and she got all Of her kids some donuts and went to pay and they now no longer except EBT OR SNAP so I had to help her out and buy them Why have the sign up if it?s not true anymore?? Take it down so people will not think that. And they could use some new people THATS not so rude

I?m very disappointed that they have chosen to close on Sunday and Mondays. Two of the most busiest days of the week and days that people would more likely buy donuts. Dunkin? Donuts is looking really good!

I saw a post on fb of the sign you have in the window of your bakery and wanted to say Amen and good for you. We need more courageous American businesses like yours. I live in California and will pray for your business. God Bless you and America

I was expecting to get fresh donuts but unfortunately the donuts were hard and unsatisfying. This place has changed over the years and is not fresh donuts like when I was a child.

The workers are really nice and the desserts are so cheap! A wonderful experience and I hope to go back soon :D

I?ve always loved ur donuts, pies, cakes, cookies, pretzels & just everything u make. U make this life a little bit better by ur store selling such delicious food. Thank you

They have awesome donuts. I wish they would open one in Columbus. The taste reminds me of the fair donuts.

Cream filled Donuts and Buckeyes are always in stock and are my absolute favorite!

Best donuts I have ever had. The chocolate bavarian cream filled, wholewheat and blueberry are all very good.

The seasonal pumpkin cookies are great. Always good service from the nice ladies there

They have great doughnuts. Just need to make cream filled ones.

Staff does not seem to like their job. They were "nice enough" tho. Cookies are good!!

Didn't make it through the door as the owner doesn't want business from people who show kindness to others.

My 2 favorites are the chocolate covered creme filled donuts, and the homemade noodles. Yum, yum, yum. ??

The best cakes, cookies and donuts in the Springfield area! The thumb prints are the best..mmmmmm
