It took me way too long to check this place out! It?s charming, delicious, and worth the price! Treated myself and coworkers to a dozen variety filled/unfilled donuts for about $19. This place is a must-try!

Back when I lived in Christiansburg, my family would get donuts from Route 8 every Saturday as a family tradition. The donuts were always top notch and I always looked forward to every holiday when there were themed donuts. We loved them so much that we even bought Route 8 Donut hoodies. Delicious! the reviews so I was a little skeptical. However they did not disappoint!! We got the cinnamon twist! One of the best I have ever head. Donut was nice and light, full of cinnamon flavor, and glaze was perfect and not too sweet. Key lime and lemon filled donuts were nice and light. Fillings were good but didn?t seem homemade but I could be wrong. Either way would definitely recommend.

We stopped by Route 8 today for the first time under new management. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the texture. When I have doughnuts, I expect them to be pillowy and light. Unfortunately, my maple doughnut was more like a tough sweet roll with icing. It was indeed very dense, hard to bite off, and chewy. My husband said his Bavarian Cream was so thin, it was like eating a tortilla with cream inside. I have visited their shop several times since opening under new management, as well as when they came out to a local festival! All experiences with staff and service were great! The BEST donuts! Because the dough is not overly sweet, it has that savory deep fried flavor to it! The sweetness comes from the glazes and toppings, which makes these very balanced in flavor and absolutely delicious. Was there a little before 10 and they were out of any specialty varieties, which I can understand as they're still trying to test the amount of business. But the dough is chewy. What a wonderful accidental find! This donut shop is definitely somewhere you should put on your list. Even if you?re traveling through (like we were) it?s worth a stop. First time visitor while visiting relatives. Stopped in and ordered a coffee and apple fritter. Fritter was fresh and warm. I don't think I've tasted one better. And this is one of my favorite treats. Wish this was place was close to home - I'd be a frequent customer.

They're sweet & tasty like donuts should be, and the people are friendly. That saves it from getting only 1 star. They're also very consistent. Absolutely delicious donuts! We got a few dozen just before a Virginia Tech game and finished them all! I highly recommend this place. The staff prepared our order very fast, and were friendly. These owners know what their doing! I stopped in, expecting a run down and old doughnut shop, but I was blown away with how nice this place is and how friendly the owners are!! The best donuts I?ve ever tasted in my life! We live in Roanoke and make trips there early in the morning to get our favorites! Definitely worth the trip, affordable and just so tasty!! We finally got to stop by today and are so happy we did! Route 8 knows their stuff. We purchased an assortment of cake and yeast donuts and they are all great. Also this location used to be an abandoned, rough looking spot and the Route 8 team have completely transformed it into a modern looking and very cozy setting. We are donut snobs and Route 8 more than meets our expectations! It's easy to tell that they use top quality ingredients. We are very happy with these donuts and will be repeat customers.

Very prompt courteous service. There was a great selection of donuts as well as apple fritters. Several unique spins on the donut theme like adding cinnamon graham crackers. We ordered a Maple, M&M and an apple fritter. The maple was lighter on maple flavor than expected but was tasty despite that. The M&M was fun, and the apple fritter was about 12" diameter and had apple in nearly every bite.

I wanted to love this donut shop, but everytime I've gotten donuts they've been very dry. Most of the time I've gone, even early morning, they've been sold out or only had a very limited selection. The donuts here are great! The problem I have is with the guy who runs the front. He?s quite rude and seems like he hates where he works. If you want a good donut these are good, but if you want a good donut and good service I would skip and go to Carol Lee.

Always great customer service. If you are looking for a particular type of donut, you either need to get there very early or call ahead and have them set them aside for you. We love the variety of donuts at they offer and enjoy sitting in there and occasionally getting to watch the make donuts.

Hot dang! I was excited that a new local donut shop opened in my old stomping grounds, but I was COMPLETELY unaware that they hired baker elves with access to magical-quality ingredients to produce confections on par with the muffins that ended the Great Unicorn Wars. They keep running out because people flock in droves to get these little wonders. I came in today around noon and got "the dregs" and tasted the best donuts I've ever had in the New River Valley.

I have never had a donut from Route 8 that I didn't thoroughly love. If grocery stores or Dunkin have shaped your donut expectations, you should really treat yourself to some donuts here so you can taste what a donut should taste like. Good donuts, very friendly staff, and you can buy local coffee to take with you and/or make at home. Gourmet donuts with extra decorations and toppings also available. Their "glaze" never gets crispy like I'm accustomed to from up north.

We love Route 8! We've been there on our happy mornings and our mornings that needed an extra bump to be happy. They are the nicest people with the most delicious donuts. Go there, you will not be dissapointed!

Very clean store and friendly helpful staff. However, doughnuts are extremely small, almost miniature in size and of average taste. Bavarian cream filled doughnuts had very little chocolate on top and only an average amount of filling. Regular store bought brand doughnuts are a much better value and quality of taste. Selection was also very limited as they had no cream filled doughnuts by 10 AM. I am not sure why so many folks rate these doughnuts to high as they truly are average at best.

Great place to grab some donuts and coffe. Convenient location next to I-81 on Route 8 at the edge of town. The only negative thing is the donuts sell out usually by noon. So the early birds get the treats. Friendly staff and free smells!

This is a must-visit destination every time I find myself in the Christiansburg area. Best donuts I can remember anywhere (especially the sour cream) but you must get there early for best selection. They are only open until they sell out.

Every other donut I've ever purchased from a shop was wrapped in wax paper. Mine was just dropped in a paper bag. Is that sanitary? Coffee was gas station quality.Prices are to high. They also run out by 9 or 10.
