Light and fresh donuts, tasty espresso drinks, and warm hospitality - what?s not to like? We really enjoyed our breakfast here during our time on the island and even went back the same day for another round of coffee!

We love visiting Roots and Leaves multiple times when we?re on Hatteras! The owners are amazing to chat with and their love of Hatteras?. Espresso and donuts are amazing!

By far the best latte I?ve had on outer banks. Definitely try the caramel iced latte made with Oatmilk! Also tried their maple glazed donut and it was amazing! Wish I would have bought a dozen. The only coffee I will be getting when I visit from now on! Owners were super nice and service was quick!

Great donuts, custom sodas, coffees, and teas. Everything is delicious and everything is vegan. It's best to get there early, as they sell out of baked goods by 9:30 on busy days. The environment is welcoming and friendly with a mix of locals and vacationers. The owners are great and happy to provide suggestions for visitors. The chocolate frosting is my favorite. I'm really glad I found this place!

Worth stopping in for some donuts and coffee. Both are great. We spilt all four today and we (3 of us) agreed, this is a can?t miss place. Donuts are light and fluffy. The yeasty donut was my favorite. The cinnamon roll was amazing. Coffee was perfectly brewed. Well done!

Vegan or not, these are the best doughnuts! Try the maple glazed, and I think you?ll agree. Peppermint Mocha coffee is a fun Christmastime sip! Always friendly and optimistic, the owners make any visit to their food truck a happy visit.

I brought my kids to the playground by the Pier and saw the Roots & Leaves truck by chance. I bought one of each donut flavor and an iced latte with a splash of caramel flavor. DELICIOUS !!! All of it. We LOVED the donuts- very light and fluffy (and vegan). What a friendly dude too! We will be back tomorrow morning!

Cute little food truck with the sweetest owners. Coffee was delicious, creamy and well balanced. Donuts were perfectly made and had a nice outer crust. Talked to the owners for a little and they were really funny and nice. Also the coffee is much better than others we?ve had in nearby towns. Highly recommend, this place is so worth it! And it?s vegan!!!!

Our fishing guide told us Roots & Leaves has the best donuts on Hatteras Island so we stopped in the afternoon after fishing. Donuts had sold out for the day, naturally, so I preordered an assorted dozen for the following day, had a chat with the delightful owners and got a delicious iced chai for the road. The following morning, the donuts were ready for us and upon pickup they gave my dad and me each a donut for the road so we didn?t eat the original 12 we ordered on the way back. Came here almost every morning for coffee & donuts. My husband is lactose intolerant, so this was an awesome vacation treat for him. My faves were the yeasty glazed donuts & the cinnamon sugar, he liked the chocolate glazed. And he LOVED the lattes. And the owners are so sweet! 10 out of 10 recommend!

This is the only place on the island you should be getting coffee! ? We tried all of the places during our 7 months in Buxton. Roots & Leaves has the best coffee and kindest owners. Don't waste your time trying anywhere else!

We really loved the coffee and donuts here. The vegan sausage roll was excellent and authentically aussie down to the tomato paste. The coffee was prepared perfectly both times we visited and I discovered a love of oat milk that I never knew existed. Beyond that, we really enjoyed chatting with the owners. They took the time to speak with each of their patrons and start your day with an upbeat vibe.

The owners of the truck are great to talk to and have a clear passion for coffee. You can trust them for a well pulled espresso and a delicious cake doughnut. They also gave us pointers to some local skate parks. Overall the experience was 10/10.

I will travel anywhere for vegan donuts when I am at home in NJ, including Manhattan and Brooklyn (which is the next galaxy depending on traffic) so when I found this place an hour away from where we?re staying, I was immediately down. He was hesitant about the oatmilk but after he tried mine, he went back to get another oatmilk latte!... it's that good. If you're looking for coffee place to stop at don't even bother trying any other place. This is the one. We were in OBX for the week and wish we found this place sooner. Food is so good we visited 4 out of 5 days we stayed in Avon. Twice we had gotten breakfast already and still stopped by for donuts and sausage rolls cause they were just that good! We were really excited to try these vegan donuts, but we arrived at around 11am on Tuesday to find that they had sold out and were closed. We decided to give it another try on Wednesday and arrived at 9:05am to order a dozen donuts. We drove an hour to get donuts and they were out. So we emailed and called twice the following week with no answer, so we just showed up in person - driving an hour again to get donuts. They were out again and said we needed to call, even though we called twice hours apart and didn?t answer. Very disappointing
