Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken - Durham Southpoint

Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken - Durham Southpoint

Reviews Summary

Rise is highly praised for its delicious, fluffy biscuits and convenient online ordering system with efficient pickup lockers. Many reviewers love the chicken biscuits, beignets, and unique menu items like the Nashville chicken biscuit and pimento cheese options. Consistency issues are noted, with some customers experiencing cold food or missing toppings. The staff is generally friendly and accommodating, though a few mention service mishaps. Recent menu changes and reduced donut selections have disappointed some long-time fans. While most reviews are positive (5-star), a few criticize price increases and quality fluctuations. I used to LOVE coming here with my boyfriend, for years. He always got the Buffalo chicken sandwich, and I loved that they had so many vegetarian options that were honestly the best I'd ever had. Recently both of these things (including the whole veggie section) disappeared from the menu without notice. We're both quite upset:/

I ordered through DoorDash & I was surprised at how fast it got here and I am certain that these biscuits were made somewhere in heaven if there is such a place!!! Perfection!! The art of making biscuits is a serious thing and whoever makes these biscuits is a very special individual lol!! ?? I've been in town for 3 days and I've eaten breakfast here everyday! I just ordered again after ordering already this morning ??got it ad4biscuits. ??

When you really want the best breakfast biscuit this is the place! Are there chicken biscuits are second to none and their sauces are really superb. There is nothing inside not even a little table so it is purely a takeout but the staff is friendly and helpful and you even pick up your order inside of a little clear face Locker

Really great service and a delicious menu of biscuits to choose from. Perfect for a quick bite or pickup, but not much seating indoors if it's cold out. I had the southern chicken biscuit and that pimento cheese did not disappoint!

YUM! You use a touch screen to self order and then wait. You can also order online and walk in and pick up. Pick up is from a locker. The lockers are genius! Limited seating inside and tables outside if weather is good. Lots of parking. Kind employees! Highly recommend!

My fries were delicious I thoroughly enjoyed those. Although the chicken biscuit was honestly a 1/5 the biscuit was dry and hard, the chicken was rubbery i?m guessing it was overcooked and sat out for too long because it wasn?t hot. The pickles were ok the best thing taste wise on the biscuit I only ate 2 bites before I just gave up on it. Everything is self service and I unlike others prefer it that way although I can understand the frustration for the pos asking for a tip?for what exactly ?

Order from here pretty often. All of a sudden was told that my order was already picked up. I have a very unique name and with their system you have to enter the entire first name and the last initial to pick it up out of the box so not sure how something like this happened.

They sent a coupon book that straight up just doesn't work - the codes completely do not function online. Not to mention, they got rid of 90% of their donut selection. No wonder they went out of business in Charlotte. Used to go here all the time a decade ago but not worth it anymore

It bothers me when places like this ask for tip and don?t default to 0%. In fact, tipping 0% required putting in a custom amount from what I remember. I tip for service, and rise doesn?t bring your food to you, bring you refills, or even initially fill up your drink for you. They don?t even take your order, everything is self service. I actually didn?t interact with a single employee while I was there. This is all fine, but don?t enable tips on your POS when you don?t provide any service. If your employees

Ordering ahead is quick and easy, they have your food waiting in a secure locker so it stays warm and no one grabs the wrong order. The staff are always friendly and helpful! This location is meant for take-out, no inside seating, so if the weather is nice we sit at a table outside.

Rise is relying on their reputation without delivering the quality that initially made them popular. Rise used bake a huge assortment of delicious and creative donuts, the best you could find anywhere. Today, the selection is less than half what it used to be as they are pushing other products like breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Not only has the donut selection dwindled, but so has the quality. Today, Rise bakes a very ordinary donut, comparable to a grocery store bakery. The one thing Rise has retained i

Rise elevates the donut shop concept simply by adding biscuits. So you can get a very tasty, but not too greasy, biscuit sandwich with a myriad of toppings/sides. I ordered a biscuit with bacon, scrambled eggs, roasted red peppers, pickled jalape?os, and pimento cheese. Your results may vary. I believe you can order a large or small biscuit, which is made in house from scratch, but a small one was more than enough for me. We also ordered the Oreo, Cr?me br?l?e, chocolate chocolate, apple fritter, cookies '

I ordered biscuits for my team at Meadowmont Animal Hospital and the experience couldn?t have been better or easier! I miss the old counter setup where you could interact with their staff but using the app was so easy.

So, this was a serviceable chicken sandwich, but Rise used to be such a local gem! At this point though, it feels like we could have gotten the same quality chicken biscuit from a fast food place for cheaper and with faster service. The chicken on their biscuit was thin and a bit tough - maybe it had been under a heating lamp too long? Either way, their biscuits are just not worth the price point anymore. It's so disappointing knowing how great they used to be, and realizing how mediocre they are now.

The most delicious biscuits contain runny eggs, Rise is the only local place I can find that has delicious biscuits. The coffee is always fresh and the pastries are addictively good.

My food was cold. The sausage was so nasty I could even eat it. They have a self serve kiosk and expect you to tip, pay your workers if you can charge this much for mediocre food you can pay a fair wage. The line gets held up because no one can work the kiosk and it?s only one.

I was running late this morning and accidentally chose the wrong location for my biscuit. I was super sad about missing breakfast but the staff was super understanding and helped me get my biscuit. Great service and understanding. Thank you again!!

Food and service was excellent! I appreciate the people who work there helping me with my order and preparing my food. I would highly recommend this Rise Biscuit location.

Love both the sweet and savory options but it can be busy at times so you might have a wait. Highly recommend the creme brulee donut!

Tried them out for the first time yesterday and was disappointed with the food I received. I called and the manager on duty happily refunded my money, and did offer another meal but I declined (was happy with the refund) and told them I?d try them again. Ordered biscuits this morning and they were delicious, and I believe the manager recognized my name on the order as there was a free donut in my bag. I?ll be returning again soon for a good breakfast and EXCELLENT customer service!

OMG! I thought this place would be overhyped by my friends who had recently moved down to Chapel Hill and I'm so happy to say that it was not. We ordered online in advance because this place is, rightfully, busy nearly every morning. Picking up the order is a bit unique because you go in and open up a locker that has your order in it; it's heated and keeps the food warm. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken and it was PHENOMENAL! The chicken was so juicy and cooked perfectly, the biscuit was incredible and the

Our food was fresh and hot. Great flavor combos for the chix 'n grits dang box and country blues biscuit.

I've been eating here since they first opened. It just keeps getting better. Their ability to serve a tremendous amount of people at once is mind-blowing. Right up there with Chick-fil-A if not faster. And omg that bacon, egg and cheese is the bomb.

It had been a while since I've been here, and it's certainly not the same. The donut selection used to be 12 or more donuts, now there's a pretty slim selection. The Maple Bacon used to be a bar with a full piece of bacon, now it's a tiny donut with broken pieces - and the dough does not seem as rich. The Apple Fritter has shrunk. My Fried Green Tomato Biscuit was also not as flavorful as before. The only thing that seems to have stayed the same are the prices.

I've been here a few times when traveling through the area and am never disappointed! I like the "Avocado Toast Biscuit". It comes with a slightly spicy sauce that's so tasty. I had this with okra for breakfast/lunch yesterday and recommend.

I love Rise, each time I enter the facility it?s clean and the staff are friendly. The food is always hot and my orders are made correctly. 10/10 recommend, the jumbo tater tot?s are the best item on the menu!

The best. Everything is good. Only complaint is the shop is small for how many people show up at peak times. They make up for it by offering free donut holes while you wait.

I am not a fan of biscuits, so I like that Rise allows you to build a breakfast sandwich on a potato roll. I got the Country Ham with fried egg and cheese. Delicious ?? Don't sleep on the fried okra! They are fantastic! Not sure but think they are fried fresh. They taste great! The outdoor seating area is nice.

The stories of the apple fritters have not been exaggerated! They are large and delicious! Been meaning to try their other donuts but no room after the fritter.

I have been a fan of Rise since it opened a decade ago. Mobile order is fast and easy. The biscuits are delicious. Fried green-pimento cheese sandwich is my fave.

Seriously the best fried chicken biscuit! I added a fried green tomato...it was amazing with the bacon and pimento cheese! They were super busy, which is typical for all the rise locations. The only thing that was disappointing is they seem to have less donuts than they used to. I know all the locations are a little different and sell accordingly. But it won't deter me from returning. I do want to try the cheddar biscuit the next time...how amazing would that be!

First time at this location this morning and I was surprised there were no display cases and only kiosks to order. I got home and opened my box to reveal this monstrosity that was supposed to be a cinnamon roll. It was burnt and hard as a rock. Had there been a display case and I saw what they looked like I wouldn?t have bought this. Donut and biscuit were ok. Won?t be returning to this Rise.

Love this bakery. I've been to 3 locations and the food is always good and fresh. The beignets are amazing!

The new self order station is very hard to navigate. They don't offer the cheddar biscuit upgrade for some of their options. If you want to customize your biscuit you have to order stuff on the side and add it to your biscuit yourself. The build a biscuit ends up being 3 or 4 dollars more if you try to build the one you want instead of ordering extra sides to add to an existing biscuit They also don't do any of their biscuit or donut specials anymore, which was part of the reason I started coming here y

My favorite biscuits in Durham. I love how they offer plant based alternatives. Yummy biscuits.

Scrambled egg and sausage. Sausage is dry, egg is wet. The one star is for the side of cheese grits, salty but not terrible.

I?ve been enjoying Rise for many years. From their donuts to my super favorite Righteous Chicken Biscuit with all the trimmings. It?s always enjoyable and fresh. They also have a friendly staff and great prices too!

Not bad for a breakfast chicken spot. I did enjoy my southern breakfast chicken sandwich. The cheese on it was a bit tart for me. But overall it was a good sandwich. I enjoyed the cheesy grits. The okra was not bad. The fried green tomato wasn't my favorite and I love fried green tomatoes. I wish the batter was more cornmealish.

Ordered the delicious chicken club and it did not disappoint!! It was so delicious, along with the rise seasoned tots!! Went to pick it up but the power had flickered so they hadn't recieved the order. All I had to do was let them know what was ordered/show the order and they made it right then and there! The workers were extremely friendly and fun! I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back!!

This place never lets me down!! The biscuits are always fresh & fluffy. Soooooo good!! No matter the choice, you will not be disappointed.

Ordered online for a delayed pickup and it was ready when I arrived. Good food, easy in and out, everything tastes great!

Unfortunately this was my worst experience there and it was quite surprising as I was one of 3 three people there. So it wasn?t busy at all. I was given the wrong order, it was burnt and cold. Really dissatisfied with the service this time around.

I ordered ahead and they were bagging my order up as I walked in the door and then handed it to me?perfect timing. My bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich was delicious as always?plenty of yummy bacon and melted cheese. It?s probably a little bigger than necessary but still enough to savor each bite.

The very best biscuits in the triangle. I?ve had these time and time again and they never disappoint. Amazing food, service, and love the ordering and pickup experience. When y?all going to expand to Pittsboro?

Amazing place, I highly recommend the build your own sandwich with lots of veggies. The fresh veggies pair perfectly with the savory eggs and biscuit. The drip coffee is amazing as well. I've been getting breakfast here every other week since I moved nearby and realized I haven't written a review. Highly recommend the beignets and apple fritters as well! All in all, a gem. When the weather is good, the outdoor seating is excellent.

This Rise location is best for takeout due to lack of dine in space. Otherwise, the quality of the biscuits and service from employees is great. I ordered online and arrived earlier than scheduled. It seemed quiet in this branch so the employees prepared my two biscuit order and handed it over soon after I arrived.

I haven?t been to this restaurant in years. But I got the cheese biscuit, cheese grits and the tater tots. The tater tots were too salty for my taste . The biscuit was good and the grits were good also. I am trying other things on the menu next time. The prices were decent and the service was good and fast. Everyone was nice and friendly.

Edit: 5 months later, they sent me another $1 coupon and I reluctantly gave it a go. I got the same item and was pleasantly surprised when it was better. Chicken was tender and pimento actually tasted like stuff. Biscuit was too dry and crumbly still. Compared to my last visit, either I caught them on a bad day or they've changed something. I've added on one more star. Definitely not an $8+ chicken biscuit, but maybe $6 or so. Original review: The chicken was tough and stringy and flavorless. The pimento w

We love Ross easiness for takeout. We always place our order online and it?s ready in a little storage container in the store when we get there food is always delicious and well prepared. Donuts are great apple fitters are delicious and the biscuits are the best!

Love the Chicken box with a cheese biscuit and tater tots. The food is always fresh and delicious and the staff is friendly.

The food was great; worth the price that you pay. The employees were helpful as well. I?ll be back soon. ??

The veggie strips have been replaced with a cut up veggie burger??! One strip is one sixth of a patty??? What the hell. Absolutely disappointed. Last strike

The blueberry, country ham and fried egg biscuit is my favorite! I love RISE!

I haven't visited the Southpoint location in a while. Went in with my son. We love their cheddar tots! The service was awesome and the food was ready on time and fresh!

Whenever me and my son are near a rise we always get the bacon, egg & cheese biscuit. It always fluffy and delicious!

Food is always fresh and yummy! I ordered fries, cheese grits and buttermilk bacon, egg and cheese biscuit online for pick-up. The food was ready super quick and my fries were fresh and hot. My grits and buttermilk biscuit are always so good! I absolutely love this place! I live only 5 minutes away and it is a pleasure to order breakfast for a quick visit.

I?m very pleased with the size of biscuits. The cost is good.

I typically order online and my food is ready within 10 minutes. The customer service is always pleasing and the area is kept clean and stocked.

It's okay, I don't get hype about it. The only donut or item on the menu I've ever felt was worth the hype was the creme brulee donut and half the times I've went it's gone. The price is a little high for a regular donut and then you wait to get just that .... A regular donut. We've tried the biscuits and beignets and they worth good though

Rise is such a delicious place for biscuits! Their cheddar tots are phenomenal and the beignets beat NoLa ones any day! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The Nashville chicken biscuit is my personal favorite, but all are amazing! Amazing local spot that has now expanded to other states as well.

This rise location was extremely unorganized and poor customer service. After ordering online and waiting an extra 20 mins after my order time, the food was cold. It took a total of 40 mins for us to get 3 biscuits. Never coming here again. The manager poorly managed the situation.

Always friendly, always delicious! Order online because they are so on point with timing!!! Remember to tip because these folks work hard with a smile!! Thanks for everything ??

I love that I discovered Rise. It?s very simple. Order online and pick up. The food is delicious. Rise doesn?t have dine in seating but the food is great. Service is good.

Best grits in the area smooth seasoned snd NOT GRAINY OR LUMPY!!! THANK U! I just tried a sausage egg and cheese biscuit and HANDS DOWN the Best one I have had! This is my new favorite place to eat breakfast!! Quality at a great price. Counter culture coffee a plus! Home run!!!!

Honestly the best breakfast restaurant in the Southpoint area. Staff is helpful and alway kind and fun to talk to. The music is great and the food is delicious. The which came first is unbeatable and the chix and grits definitely deserves a honorable mention.

Recommended to us by many folks, finally gave it a try. This review is for the south point location. If you?ve never been, the store front is very tiny. Everything is ordered either through a kiosk or you scan the QR code and place your order online. I love this business model as you don?t feel like you have to rush for the people in line behind you. We actually placed our order online while standing in line for the kiosk (we?re newbs, def faster to order ahead of time). On a Sunday morning it took about 10

I had tried this for the first time visiting the area and I was instantly in love. Their food is delicious. Best chicken biscuit I had ever had literally. Definitely recommend.

I ordered online and picked it up. Online ordering and pick up were very well organized and easy. My food was ready on time. I ordered some pastries, doughnuts and chicken biscuits, all were very good. I didn't have much interaction with the restaurant staff but they were friendly and helpful.

My food looks thrown together and a mess. Total of only 9 tots. For 9.75$ I expect better. Will NOT be coming here. Go to the carrboro one instead. They give PROPER portions.

Quick and easy to order online! Staff very pleasant and helpful upon entering store! Customer service is still alive! Thanks so much, will return soon??

Every time order everything is spot on. The blueberry biscuits are fantastic. Chicken tenders are so moist and juicy. I'm just sad that they're not open all the time

Update: 1 year later: Gave this place another try and it was as wonderful as I remembered the downtown location being! Food was prepared promptly and it was delicious. We?ll be back! Picked up a mixed dozen of donuts early Friday morning (5/21/21) to bring to work because I had to wait on an errand, and I was shocked how bad they were! They definitely hadn?t been made that day and had an odd aftertaste. They were edible but definitely not the quality you?d expect for paying $1.50 a donut, I?ve easily had

I?ve loved this place from day one! Years later they are still putting a smile on my face. Such incredible flavors, it?s the best there is!

This is the first time I've ever gone to a rise and not finished a donut. Ran in for a quick donut with the kids while wife was at target. First impression when I opened the box was that the sprinkle donuts looked under iced. No big deal. Then I broke a sprinkle donut in half for the kids to share and half the icing crumbled away. The sprinkle donuts tasted like day olds and the fritter was just ok. I guess 100% of effort has been put in biscuits afain

I've been going past this place for over a year and today, I finally decided to try it out. I went with the Chix & Grits meal and it did not disappoint. Taking the Mrs. next time I'm near the area

Great food! I will be back for more! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves like.Good old fashioned biscuits from scratch!

Donuts and biscuit sandwiches are very tasty! Online ordering makes it very convenient, especially for weekend mornings when they're super busy. Staff is generally pretty warm and friendly. My only complaint is that they used to have such a great selection of unique donuts, flavors and styles you couldn't find in the chain stores. About a year or so ago, though, they've become more mainstreamed and have cut back significantly on those rarer offerings, so I don't find myself wanting to go there as much.

Glazed donuts at $2 a pop only to be stale and dry. The beignets were tough but okay, definitely better than the donuts....overall: No thanks they were less than desirable. Not sure if it was an off morning as I've had them before and they tasted better . The woman who handed me my order was pleasant which is why the 2 stars beyond that i will pass. The experience was less than desireable.

always love Rise! especially the fried green tomato biscuit with an egg on top?the pimiento cheese is ??. also if you are someone who likes to dip breakfast sausage in syrup, the blueberry biscuit with sausage is an amazing sweet/savory, too! have enjoyed both the meat and meatless sausages on there. and then of course, the self-serve takeaway keeps things warm and SO quick when ordering online. such a yummy weekend go-to before running errands.

What once was a great place for breakfast has devolved into an impersonal ?modern? dining experience. You dont talk to anyone. The donuts are no longer hand made on site, and have significantly less options. My experience today has taken over 32 minutes for 1 biscuit and 3 donuts. I?m sure the original owners made some good money, and they did a great job. But this new experience is simply terrible. I?m calling to cancel my order now.

Mornings are busy - Love the ability to schedule breakfast the night before. Always kept warm, if traffic delays pick up. Staff is always friendly!

When I pay $6 for a ham biscuit that I order on a self-serve kiosk from a store that advertises that they pay a living wage, I really don't understand why I'm then asked to tip. I also don't understand why it takes 12 minutes to get a basic biscuit. If the biscuit had seemed fresh, I would have understood that timing. Overall, my first trip back in a long time and I won't return again.

Been going a lot in the past week. Easy to order. And great customer service. Just make sure you go early for the donuts. They are yummy.

Rise is one of my go-to breakfast spots! My favorite is the ?Which Came First? biscuit and gravy meal and I can?t say enough about the blueberry biscuit! YUM!!! Their food is consistently delicious and the online ordering process is so easy. I love the take-out food lockers?I can walk in and grab my order in seconds.

I typically don?t like to post reviews, but I felt this one needed to be done. I?m a vegetarian. I have been for a few years now. I went to Rise with my cousin about a month ago and ordered the vegetarian version of a Nashville chicken biscuit. I noticed that the ?chicken? was a bit large compared to other fake meat versions that I?ve had, and the texture wasn?t too bad either. With how close meat substitutes are to the real thing, I didn?t think twice about it... But then I ordered the same biscuit fro

We get rise about once a month since we live nearby. When they are on it, the biscuits are amazing and huge and perfectly cooked and the chicken is fantastic. But when they are not on it, they have forgotten toppings, chicken has been cold, etc. I wish they were more consistent. They still do a good job of changing up the menu and just launched a new menu about a month or so ago. Overall would recommend.

The Southpoint location is always reliable. They are efficient, they always get the order correct and the food is always delicious. The store is always clean and accommodating. If you need a biscuit fix, RISE is one of the best places to fulfill it.

I came with my dog, and they offered to bring my food outside to me so I didn?t have to leave her alone while I waited inside. Very nice of them
