Rise 'n Roll Bakery - Greenwood

Rise 'n Roll Bakery - Greenwood

Reviews Summary

Most reviews praise Rise 'n Roll Bakery for its delicious, high-quality donuts, particularly the cinnamon caramel, Bavarian cream-filled, and peanut butter varieties. Many highlight the friendly service and fresh treats, with some calling them the best in town. However, a few criticize dry or flavorless items, high prices, and occasional poor service or stock issues. Customer Reviews

So, we bought donuts, banana bread, whoopie pies and of course the little cinnamon donut things. I would have loved to have taken more pics but everything went so fast I couldn't. This place is amazing. Every time we stay in Indiana we go there... it's a must!

Went in for my monthly donut while I am in Greenwood. Left without it. Was trying to place my offer for one donut but another patron made it there entire morning to select a box of donut and had the staff member walking up and down the area so no one else could order or see what the offerings were. Maybe I'll try again next month or go to a different location. Not the establishment or staffs fault at all but I feel bad that people think things revolve around them. I just wanted one donut but would have bee

Staff is very pleasant to talk too. It's a very cute bakery and has so many options to choose from prices are a little bit higher than some places but for good reason the size of their donuts and baked goods are larger than most bakeries in town and so worth it in my personal opinion.

Our first time here. The service was great and the place was busy we were 10th in line. The donuts and whoppie pie are as advertised delicious. We will be going back to try the cookies and pies. They looked delicious but we didn?t try any this trip. If you have a sweet tooth you should give them a try.,

There's a reason this shop was voted, one of the best donut locations in the nation, and it shows. The donuts here are probably the best i've ever had in all my travels. It is definitely worth the drive if you're in the area or visiting there are several locations. I believe around Indianapolis. Put this one on your list.

If you have a hankering for a delicious doughnut, Danish, cookies or the absolutely best chocolate cream (milk) you have ever had i recommend you stop here. Your belly will not hate you!

As we entered the bakery there was this amazing scent of fresh baked goods. Then we saw the options for donuts at the counter we had a difficult time deciding. I sampled the Pecan Sticky Bun, and was hooked. I had to order one, as well as an Apple Fritter and the seasonal donut, Key Lime. The Pecan Sticky Bun is a dense yet light dough smothered in dark sweet, but not too sweet, syrup and fresh crunchy pecans. Then there is the Apple Fritter. This was delicious as well. A good amount of apples and cinnamon

I loved Longs Donuts, but this is competition. Very good. They are hearty and fill you up. Apple fritters, yeast, chocolate covered yeast, Bavarian creme (my favorite), and Jelly. I don't like a lot of powdered sugar but wiped most off, and it's a favorite, too.

I recently purchased an expensive cherry pie here. I was expecting a homemade style pie, but I was very disappointed. My cherry pie cost 3 times more than the same quality that I would find at our local supermarket. It was 60% crust, 30% sugary filling and only 10% cherries! My advice is don?t waste your money. This is not what I expect from a bakery that promotes themselves as an authentic Amish bakery.

Rose N Roll hands down has the best filled donuts I've had in Indy. Everything about these donuts are fantastic! The dough is sweet and dense, but not dry. The Bavarian filling is on point. There is no skimping when it comes to the filling. We've tried 4 different places around, and I think this one takes the cake. Highly recommend.

Been coming for the donuts since they opened. However, they never seem to have any donuts anymore. I always stop in around lunch time, and the last 3-4 times there's either very little or no selection left. A shame because their donuts are fantastic, especially the cream/custard filled ones.

Best donuts in town, bar none! Fried pies for your lunchbox, whole pies for your table, jams jellies, plus a LOT more! Staff is friendly, and the place is super clean.

Very good place to get some yummy sweets with some coffee, and just sit and relax for a bit

Went to your Greenwood location 15 mins before they open what do I same old donuts from Saturday being put back out, with bare hands of works touching them , the male work picks it up and eats it directly from pan. No gloves no hygiene. So I left went across the street to Pana donuts, opens at 5, and staff was very friendly with proper food service hygiene! I whether pay little extra for better quality then give a business that does not care about quality!

I found another Amish gem right here in town!!!!! The crew was so nice to us. They gave us samples and explained about their most popular donuts and pastries. Very polite!!!! The store was clean. There is a seating area and some neat displays. They have many items other than donuts. We bought pies, corn relish, ghost pepper cheese, bear jam, hot pepper jam, (big selection of jams, salsas and relishes) salsa, egg noodles, flavored popcorn, pumpkin bread, zucchini bread, and a big box of donuts and pastries.

I must be the only on in Indy that didn't really care for these donuts. They're better than Longs because Longs taste like grease to me but they aren't as good as Pana. RNR seemed gummy to me, not fluffy. The girl that waited on me gave the impression that it was a chore to do her job but the cashier was extremely nice. I also don't like how they have all their donuts sitting on the counters uncovered.

Great donuts. Only thing bringing Rise 'n Roll's rating down is the price. $35 for 18 donuts? That included 6 reg yeast. That cinnamon donut with apple pie filling! Fire

I just found this place last Tuesday. I am so happy now because it's kind of hard to find authentic Amish baked goods in Indianapolis.

Great donuts! We got a variety of donuts-6 for $7.50. My son devoured the chocolate covered donut, and my boyfriend said the caramel apple was really good. Customer service was very good, I went around 9:45, but they were busy so I came back around 11:45 and I was the only one in there. They still had quite a selection of donuts, not like most places who only have limited quantities and sell out early.

Amish not Amish, $2 lg Cappuccino not Cappuccino but he gave us free potato rolls! My cream filleds dough taste like a Paczki. Yum! I'll be back. p.s. - Very pro volleyball. ??

Love the peanut butter donut, store was very well laid out. Staff didn?t interact as much as the Nora location that I?m used to.

One of the supervisor's where i work insisted i try these Amish "crack" donuts. They are basically donut holes dipped in cinnamon and stuffed with a kind of creamy caramel. I couldn't resist and i tried one, i hate caramel flavored sweets/dessert but i fell in love. This is how my husband and i ended up driving to 45 minutes out to Greenwood one Saturday, to see what Rise n Roll Amish Bakery was all about. Unlike other franchise donut places , Rise & Roll serves not only donuts but they have their own bre

I was impressed at the selection and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Probably the best donuts I've ever had.

This is one of our favorite bakeries to go to. We have been coming here for a few years and have not been disappointed by the quality of their baked goods or the service. If you are looking for awesome donuts, I would recommend stopping by!!

I can?t imagine how anyone could give this place anything other than 5 stars. This is the best donut I?ve ever had. Can?t wait to try the banana bread and muffin I got as well! I got 2 donuts , bread and a muffin for 16 bucks. Seems like a great price to me!

Consider hiring an adult to run the store. I stopped in 7:30 Saturday morning. I picked up a box of donuts and wanted to get a couple of single danish. I waited a very long time as 2 young girls played with their phones and ignored me. After a few minutes I left and went to Longs. Poor service, put the phones down!!!!

Donuts are excellent. Not like other bakeries I've been to where the second day they're hard as a rock. These Donuts lasted for at least 4 days to 5 just in the container they were bought in and they were still soft and fresh.

Fried pies, cookies, donuts!! Need I say more? But.... they also have pickled goodies, sauces and jams... Oh yeah.. and drive up. Just in case you buy stuff inside. Then want to go incognito to buy more donuts... just sayin ?? The cinnamon rolls are made by angels(unverified. Just my opinion).

Always fresh, always delicious! Yeast donuts better than our beloved Long's Bakery, in my opinion :) Cinnamon caramel is the Holy Grail ??

This place is amazing. They of course have many varieties of bakery goods... donuts, pies, granola, cinnamon rolls, cookies, etc. They also have an extensive variety of other items, like candies, cheese balls (both regular and dessert), canned goods... the list goes on. Everything is fresh and very high quality. If you haven't been, you need to go!

Stopped in for a quick donut. Got a quick donut. I had some sort of fritter and it was divine. I also had some sort of fancy candy bar crumble donut and it was pretty good but so so so sweet. My wife thinks they have the best boston cremes.

One of my new favorite places. Everything is great. Love their donuts and the cheese ball is the best.

I've had Rise n Roll several times over the years and it never fails! I always go out of my way to visit their original location in Middlebury, IN when I visit. They're cinnamon caramel doughnuts (a.k.a Amish Crack) is what they're best known for and it's AMAZING! Too bad they don't have a location in FL where I'm from!

This place has some of the best donuts. Very fresh and buttery. Glaze is an original flavor and never does me wrong. If you?re wanting to go out of your comfort zone try the Peanut Bismark Donut !

These donuts are absolutely amazing! You must try the Caramel Cinnamon powdered donut, it is perhaps the most delicious donut you will ever try

This place is not just a treat for taste buds but also the eyes. Everything looks so delicious and it's always so clean. Staff is always friendly. Every item I have ever gotten is delicious. The peanutbutter fluff filled is my favorite.

I loved the downtown location but it sadly closed down so I drove 20 min south to get donuts at this location. I was surprised to find the quality to be lower than what I'm accustomed to (the donuts were dry) and i bought a half gallon of milk and it was CHUNKY! Expired! I paid a convenience price ($8 for a half gallon of milk) which I was willing to do, but not for expired chunky milk. Will have to give this location low ratings

Yes.... I don't care .. go.... Get the Carmel apple pie donut (not sure if it's real name). It doesn't matter what you like.... Just go!!!!

Hands down some of the best doughnuts I?ve had. Got half a dozen with various flavors and every single one was delicious. The dough was airy and light and the creams have just enough sweetness to where it?s not overbearing. Michael was very helpful and patient while we picked out our treats. Really great customer service. Can?t wait to try some other flavors.

I tried some of these and I can say the carmel cinnamon really soft and taste good. Disappointed at the bluberry ones... but they are not bad I am just comparing to another shop. The lemon filling glaze and powder sugar was too much. I love lemon or lime flavor and was expecting something more refreshing natural and fresh. Service was friendly what I cannot say about places, they were nice and fast and the place looks good wish they had more seating space. But nice looking and variety. Im sure most donuts a

ATTENTION: If you have not experienced one of their apple-filled doughnuts, you may just be guilty of a crime. Clear your conscience and buy a few of these. Seriously.

We drive 45mins just for this bakery! Sooo delicious every time!

If you want the best donuts in indy, check out this place

Hands down the best donuts I've ever had. I haven't gotten to try many yet though because the first one I got was the peanut butter filled donut and it is one of the best things I've ever eaten. That's all I want when I go now. The one with the toffee candy pieces on top is also amazing and it's literally like getting a candy bar in addition to a donut. I had a couple other local bakery donuts recently and there's just no comparison.

The store was very clean. There's so many donut options and they are delicious. I love that they make their donuts fresh daily. They also have jams, pies, noodles, breads and more. The staff was really nice. There's a small amount of seating inside so you have the option of hanging out and enjoying one of their yummy items. Prices are a little on the high side but worth it. Definitely recommend this place.

Donuts are always good and fresh. It's a bit pricey but worth the $$. The only drawback is that the apple pie donuts' filling wasn't a lot of apple.

I love going to this bakery! They have The Best donuts I have ever eaten. Everything tastes amazing. They are quick and friendly.

In all honesty, the donuts from here were absolutely fantastic. I had one with like a peanut butter (whipped) filling. Oh my gosh, hands down, the best donut I have ever tasted. I am a Longs donut fan too, but these donuts (the other had a chocolate frosting), were decadent and something you wanted to eat slowly, savor and thoroughly enjoy. This place is a "must check out". FYI, probably try it mid week, before late in the day, when selection may be best.

Have tried 98% of all donut shops around and by far Rise'n Roll has the best donuts I have EVER ate, especially love their chocolate iced custard filled but they are all good. Their cinnamon rolls are great to. You won't regret it, give them a try. Why only 4 star instead of 5? Not sure about this specific location. I have always been to the ones up north but decided to give the Greenwood location a try. When I arrived the place was closed and doors locked in the middle of the day mid week. Hours posted sai

The folks here were so nice and all the treats we picked up were delicious. The lemon crinkle cookies were AMAZING and anything with the bavarian creme filling was top tier. Hope to come back on my next trip to Indy.

The products were delicious, it was our first time there. Unfortunately the people behind us (who look like they were very familiar with the menu) had a hard time being patient while we made our selections and the girl at the counter was a bit sparky. She was probably having a bad day. We took home 12 doughnuts, 1 cinnamon roll, and 2 breads. They were great. The atmosphere and service not so much.

I stopped by to get their Granola bars and Chocolate chip cookies. I'm visiting my daughter in Las Vegas. She will be surprised to get something from home. Yes, they are that good ??

The doughnuts are on point. Get you some. I am typically someone who is quick to turn down sweets, but when it comes to the cinnamon sugar doughnuts from rise and roll, I just can't resist.

The parking lot is more holes than actual surface. The people were friendly. I tried an assortment of doughnuts. They aren't very sweet at all! Their glaze isn't sweet, so anything glazed wasn't sweet. One doughnut was piled high with powdered sugar on one side (not on the bottom), but the doughnut was dense and not sweet. So if you're not a fan of sweet treats, you might love it. As for me, it was my first and last visit.

I have been wanting to try due to all the positive reviews. Found prices extremely high. My doughnut had a funny metallic taste. Had to throw it away. I was very disappointed. Wish I had gone to Pana Donuts instead. Have never had anything bad there.

with out a doubt this is the best donut i have ever put in my mouth and i have eaten my fair share of donuts. staff was very friendly and made me feel right at home even from thousands of miles away. these donuts gotta be the amish version of beignets because believe me, the texture, the flavor, the environment, all of it was chefs kiss. from a texan, when in Indiana, go to rise n roll.

I've been wanting to try R 'n R for years...definitely not worth the wait. I went on a Tuesday morning and ordered an old fashioned doughnut, a blueberry doughnut, and an apple fritter. The doughnuts were so dry & hard they were inedible. I'm not sure how they justify calling the fritter "apple", there wasn't a single piece of apple or even the slightest hint of apple, it was just greasy overcooked flavorless dough. The ONLY thing positive about the entire experience were the 2 guys working. They were extre

The donuts here are fresh and delicious. I love a glazed donut and these are the best I've ever had. The inside is very nice and clean. They actually gave us a box of donuts to take with us for free. We will definitely be back.

Just all round great donuts and service. Also give lower price for day old items.

I think it depends on what donuts you get. I had a chocolate glazed and it was pretty basic, but super yummy. It tasted similar to a lot of other place?s basic glazed donuts. The specialty donuts are to die for. The cinnamon caramel filled with Bavarian cream was unlike any donut I?ve had before. It was very rich, super thick, huge and absolutely delicious. It?s my new favorite donut of all time.

finally a donut shop that can rival the better ones around the country. I have tried donuts ( about 100 places) . this place has good donuts

The staff was very friendly and informative. There were delicious free samples that definitely helped me make a decision on which treats to get. The cinnamon Carmel donuts are definitely as good as everyone says.

I?m convinced they have the best donuts in the country! You do need to get there early though because they do run out of some of their most popular donuts very quickly. Their cinnamon caramel donut is the absolute best!

I love the Amish bakery I don't get to have them very often because they close everyday at 5pm. I've never understood why any company closes at 5pm they are missing out on the 9-5 workers business and the 9-5 workers are missing out on your great product!

Got breakfast here on the way back from Indianapolis Airport and I must say they have the best doughnuts I have ever had. These aren't the kind that you'll stuff down five in one go and have that weird feeling left over in your mouth from the sugar. These are dougnuts that you have one, want another, but the first one was so filling you want to save the rest. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the place was really clean too. The atmosphere was very comfortable, and I most certainly can't wa

This place is so good. My coworkers love when I stop here. The pies are also so good. Staff always so nice to deal with.

Absolutely delicious! Recommended by a friend when we were going to our local bakery that we love. We decided to try rise n roll and my kids loved everything we purchased down to the chocolate milk! You'll have to try it to get the jist of the texture and right amount of sweet that's not overbearing. We will be back to our greenwood location ??

Very good but expensive. I have reserved items there in the past, Only to show up and have it Not available. Hard to count on.

Great doughnuts. I was very pleased with the doughnuts I got. Plus I got an apple pie and it was the best apple pie I've had in a long time. Excited to go back when I'm in the area.

We frequent occasionally but this trip was made spacific at request of Bride that we transport rolls and donuts to her wedding in New Orleans. You made her one very Happy Bride!!!

Amazing donuts! I'm picky about my donuts and don't give five stars for just a typical experience. Taste, selection, customer service, atmosphere, cleanliness, location... All excellent. Came for one donut, but left with a dozen to take home to the family. Mocha, apple fritter, chocolate glazed, cinnamon carmel apple, lemon raspberry... All tasted and given a ???? by all

Donuts here are delicious. We just stopped in to get some. Not even noon yet and the shelves in the lobby were bare along with the counter. A little odd. The person didn?t even greet us. We assumed they ran out of donuts or were closing based on this.

Lots of variety of cookies, donuts, cinnamon rolls to choose from! I picked out several kinds to try and liked most of them. And what I didn't quite like, my partner did, so it all got eaten very quickly. My favorite donuts were the filled ones - such as the peanut butter and I think cinnamon one. I'll have to try one or two of their ice cream filled ones. I was expecting a little more cinnamon flavor than I tasted but it was my first time there so it could be exactly what everyone else was raving about a

This was the first time I visited. I ordered a box of 6. The first bite of my glazed doughnut was like heaven in my mouth!!!! DELICIOUS!!! Customer service was great!!! Very quick, and nice and friendly. Highly recommend!!!??????

The Bavarians I got were pretty amazing. Unfortunately they were sold out of apple fritters which is my dad's favorite. The fact that they were sold out has me intrigued and curious enough to come back and find out how good they are.

Delicious and friendly staff. Try their samples!

It was my first time here! They were busy and had everything in stock. The donuts are so awesome and fresh. The crew was kind polite and very pleasant

What a nice surprise find! Cinnamon Caramel Donut Holes were a hit with the kids. Will have to hide the chocolate donuts from them so the adults will get a chance to eat some too.

This was my first time visiting an Amish bakery so I had high expectations regarding quality and Rise 'n Roll Bakery did not disappoint! There weren't as many donut options to choose from as I had hoped but that was because I went in the afternoon. The ones I did try were fantastic! The Whoopie Pie and Apple Fritter were my favorites. I also bought some Apple Butter that was delicious! I'll stop by again to try the other options soon.

THANK YOU for finally opening a decent bakery in Greenwood! This place is far and away better than any of the chain stores we have around. Absolutely incredible donuts and pastries. This place will certainly make the other places step up their game. The cinnamon donut is my favorite. They are a little pricey but well worth every cent. I will only be getting my breads/pastries from here now.

Everything?s amazing, but they?re best/most popular donut is the cinnamon caramel! Must try

Amazing. We always got their donuts when in South Bend and now I can get them close to home whenever I want! The good old fashion powder donuts are the most amazing donut EVER but they also have delicious baked goods. Get some zucchini bread!

Such a great place! My first time here and the workers were so kind this morning ?? so helpful and nice! Delicious donuts too!!

The best donut place in Central Indiana. Cannot be beat!! Fantastic food and staff.

Love this place! Highly recommend! Must try their cinnamon rolls!

WOW!! This place has the absolute best donuts I've ever had!! I also got some cheese dip that's delicious...not the sweet kind, I prefer the spicy kind. They even have free coffee and it's good too! This place is well worth the trip. You won't be disappointed ??

Got a Six pack of the famous carmel dipped with cinnamon sprinkled ontop. Best dognut in my opinion! Pana has a close runner up with thier lemon filled yeast dognut.

So so so so so good. My new favorite donut place.... overall better than LONGS.... but Longs plain yeast might beat their plain yeast... it?s a close call. All of the other donuts are better than Longs ?other? donuts. I wish they had a sour cream or crueller though. Everything here is great except the cinnamon rolls were a little disappointing... I tried it because everyone raves about them, but it was cold and dry and hard... and the cream cheese icing was too much... it wasn?t like Cinnabon cream cheese i
