Richard's Donuts & Pastries

Richard's Donuts & Pastries

Reviews Summary

Richard's Donuts is widely praised for its fresh, fluffy, and light donuts, with many considering them the best in Bend. Favorites include the maple bars, cream-filled donuts, and apple fritters (though some find the fritters inconsistent). The shop's cash-only policy is frequently noted as a drawback, but many defend it as a trade-off for affordable prices. Service is generally efficient, with some staff described as friendly. A few reviews mention occasional dryness or flavor issues, but most highlight the exceptional quality and freshness. The parking situation and limited payment options are minor complaints overshadowed by the overall enthusiasm for the donuts.

Customer Reviews

The only thing good about Richards Donuts ?? is actually the Donuts ?? Which is actually ?? the point right? Well one would like to feel welcomed when spending $26 for a dozen. Yes you read ?? that correctly, that Dozen Donuts ?? you see in the pics, cost me a hard earned $26, far cry from the days of $7 to $8 a bakers dozen. For that much cash, I would like to enter a establishment that is not treating me as if im full of contamination or coudies. From the roped off donut case to keep you a good 4 ft awa

A great selection of fantastic pastries. Greated by the sweetest woman ever (handful of doughnut holes). Went kinda crazy and was quite surprised by how reasonable the prices were. Goin back soon. Fantastic.

I had two maple bars and they were one of the best that I have ever eaten. To my surprise there were a couple of donut holes thrown into the bag. The only negative experience was that they are still so afraid of getting sick that they still have all the plastic barriers up and it was a little bit hard to communicate with them. Not only me but the customers in front of me were kind of getting louder and louder as they were having to repeat their coffee orders over and over. Still a good donut though, I will

What has happened to our favorite donut place of all times? So disappointing! Our family has been enjoying treats here for as long as I can remember! I?ve been twice now in the last 2 weeks to give chances for quality and taste. First time I just stopped for my secret Mommy treat while shopping- a few doughnut holes (my absolute favorite). I always have to have one as soon as I get in my car, and the first was dry and not as sweet as they normally are. Tried another a few minutes later- blah! This can?t be

Great place for donuts. Several flavors and kids love them. Staff is very friendly and I loved that they were very patient with my small grandkids ordering their different donuts. Only cash or zelle is accepted. Not credit cards. It is only for eating donuts. There isn?t a sitting area.

Great donuts! Super light and airy. Lots of different flavor options. Cash only. They provided some extra donut holes! We came here after a local said it?s the best in town and they were right!

The Best Donuts EVER! Everything was perfect! Fresh & light. Friendly customer service.

Bring cash! I am a very picky donut connoisseur and Richards is in my top 3 favorite donuts to consume (and the only one in Bend). The best pastries they make are their classic donuts, they are so fluffy and fresh, you won?t be disappointed. Their chocolate cream filled is incredible!! They don?t use the generic custard that most places use, but they actually make a delightful cream filling that is so light, it?s lovely! I have not found another cream filled donut that can rival theirs. My absolute favorite

Best donuts in town! Love their apple fritters and maple bacon donuts! Seriously try them out, but don?t forget to bring cash as they are cash only. Don?t worry if you forget they have an ATM there!

Fresh donuts are great, nice people, and great selection. Think of them as the farmers market donut stand in a run down strip mall, nice mom and pop operation - however prices are very high (mixed dozen literally set me back $28) and they do not acept credit or debit cards, only cash or venmo.

Great donuts, and open early. The employee who waited on me was either sleepy or not in a great mood, but she sold me some delicious donuts. Cash or Venmo only.

First time at Richard?s Donuts & Pastries. We were both happy with the selection and what we chose to eat today. We will be back!

Went in to grab 1 donut for breakfast and walked out with a whole box the variety was great and the girl behind the counter was very nice she explained what certain items were with a smile on her face and Imo the best fonuts I've found in Bend, absolutely fresh and delicious. I will be back in.

Id have to agree with the majority on apple fritters. They should be soft and pillowy with bits of apple swirled with cinammon instead of flat and greasy with little apple.make them smaller but thicker. Do it for a week and see what kind of feedback you get. Put a small sign up."rate our new apple fritters". I bet you'll be surprised!!

We came to pick up some donuts for Fat Tuesday 5 mins before they are closing thinking that the doughnuts will be not as fresh like in the morning but oh my goodness ?? we took all different flavors and all were delicious and fresh ?? it was so nice surprise to see the young man put some extra mini donuts too! We will definitely keep coming back ???? Thank you ??

Used to be my go-to, its been a year since ive been & it was just meh this time.. Donuts had a funny taste and were lacking something.. ??

Cash, checks, and venmo only?!?! Was really looking forward to trying a Bend staple. Had to drive across town for a doughnut because they dont use the most common source of payment.

Not good at all. Did not taste fresh or even day old. Hard to spend 30 dollars for donuts that are stale.

Yum yum yum. Walked over from the rv park during our stay. This place is amazing. You can?t go wrong here. I have not had doughnut this good in maybe ever. I would say this is a must if you stop into bend. Make sure you have cash!!! No cards accepted.

We love this place. Their donuts and other baked goods are always delicious and they are always super friendly.

Will be my go to donut shop now. Just a great donut...nothing fancy and just what I wanted. Service was efficient but not overly friendly but that's ok. They cranked through the line.

The maple bar is far the best maple bar in bend. The only place I go to get one!

Haven't been to Richard donuts in a long time had to stop in there and get me an apple fritter still the same place apple fritters are still the best

Didn't even know this place was in bed. Definitely got to get donuts here sometime

Nice people, killer donuts and mega cheap! Will be heading back tomorrow! Cash or venmo only

The absolute best doughnuts in central oregon must try

The fritter was pretty mediocre. I had high expectations based on the great reviews. It was over baked and very thin. Not enough apple or cinnamon. Cash, Venmo or check only.

Cash only no credit cards. Glazed donuts, twists and cinnamon rolls are fantastic. the apple fritter is the worst I?ve ever had, i?ve never seen a flat apple fritter before!

Excellent fresh donuts. Quick friendly service. Clean throughout. Likely, the best donuts in town. But, they only take cash.

By far the best donuts in town not even close. Will never have a bad thing to say about this place absolutely amazing!! The fridge chocolate custard donuts is the best I?ve ever had and the apple fritter never disappoints.

Doughnuts are good but it's cash only. They do this to save money on card processing but ironically, they probably lose way more money from all the people who leave after seeing the sign. Making your customers pay a larger ATM fee to avoid paying a much smaller processing fee is ridiculous. They also don't have any music playing and the employees seem miserable.

This place has great donuts. Bring cash or have venmo

This is my favorite doughnut place in Bend. 4 stars because cash only, and the parking. It was recommended to me by Mr. Bill Hedger, and when I'm in Bend this is where I go and recommend.

The best donuts in town. And they always have an abundance of donuts!! Really go get ya some!!

Best donuts I've ever had!!!

I used to get donuts here often but will never go back again. The donuts are OK and pretty much what you would get at a donut place from the 1980s. Some of the donuts leave a sort of waxy/chemically film in your mouth. I believe it is some of the glazes, perhaps the clear one. The older woman that is there regularly is fine but her daughter is obnoxious and vindictive. The daughter and I had a disagreement a couple times about a temporary store policy and she changed the donuts in my box on purpose while I

I took the kids here after school today around 2:30 for a treat and had great service and the best donuts! 10/10 recommend.

Finally a place to get awesome donuts. It's taken a long while for us to find donuts that reach our high standards and these have done it! So excited.

They don't take cards, but the donuts are amazing.

Best doughnuts in Bend, cash only, and they do have an ATM on site.

The donuts are great, but they won't accept credit cards or ATM cards. Required me to use an ATM in the store which of course cost me a service fee. I usually need donuts for a work event and buy several dozen and charge everything on credit cards so I can easily track my spending each year. Not accepting credit cards, or even an ATM card, is really bad and I won't be coming back.

These are the best donuts I have had in a long time. They are super fresh as well and more were being made as we bought ours. Wish I had gotten pictures, but they were gone too soon. The apple fritter was lightly crispy on the edges and soft in the middle with lots of apple...just as it should be. Reports from others in my group are that theirs were super yummy as well. Definitely want to remember this place for next time.

The best donuts in Bend, if not the world. Huge selection of different types of donuts (yeast, cake, French cruller, twists and fritters) and every one (well, I've tried most) perfectly executed. Friendly staff, patient while deciding. Fortunately for my waistline, but not my tastebuds, I live far away and only get here on visits to Bend, but it is the first place I go after seeing family.

Excellent donuts. Worth stopping by. Only negative is they don't take credit cards

Basic donut place. Weird you can't buy half a dozen has to be singles or a full dozen. And the cash only was a bit odd staff were ok not super friendly and kinda standoffish

Love this shop! Just perfect the wonderful mom and pop classic donut! We had the chocolate glaze donuts, cruller, and cake donuts and they did not last an hour in our hands. Loved how light and fluffy the donuts are and the girls behind the counter were so kind, friendly and helpful!

Best donuts in Bend and a local institution. Been coming here since they first opened over 25 years ago and were the only true coffee serving, sit down Donut Shop in town. The ownership has changed but the donuts are still light and chewy with a nice light crisp fried crust and never too oily. It's not the hipster or fancy donut stop but it's the place I love taking my family to.

Good donuts, below average service. I don't need a 18 year old make me feel like an inconvenience with attitude at 7 in the morning.

Who doesn't love Richard's donuts...I love thier flat crisper than crisp apple fritters.... Much better than a fritter filled with puffed air! The buttermilk bars are my favorite.... So yummy....crispy crust and a well flavored beautiful tender crumb. My favorite for donuts in the area for sure!!

Indisputably the greatest doughnuts I?ve ever had ? by far. I?m reeling & considering turning around for more. Absolutely incredible.

Absolutely amazing selection of the most delicious and fresh donuts I've ever had! Pretty traditional flavor profiles, but perfected! Great price too!

Soft, crunchy, delicious, great variety, great prices, large donuts, all day inventory :) definitely coming back

We are staying at the RV park next door and when we saw the reviews for this place the night before my husband set an alarm for 4:30 so we could get donuts. I am not a fan of sweets usually, but these are the most lovely donuts. They only take cash, but people complaining about that are ridiculous. I'm sure that has a lot to do with why they are able to keep prices more affordable. I love this place.

This place is filled with super yummy treats. It is very hard to choose what you would like. My husband and I ended up ordering three different donuts and splitting them. Everyone of them were delicious. And I think the maple bar was the best I have ever had and my hubby agreed. The freshes, light baked delight of maple goodness. I definitely want to go back next time we are in the area! I would be dangerous to my health if I lived close by this place.

Loved getting donuts and fruit pastries here! Quality desserts, and the lady behind the counter was very pleasant, would definitely come again!

Best donut place in central oregon by far and I've been to alot

The apple fritters are the best in town in the best in Central Oregon probably the best in the world. Really they have the best Donuts and they're a good price too. The people there work tirelessly to give us fresh donuts everyday. I'd like to thank them and send them an air hug of positive energy and sugar.

Hands down the BEST place to buy delicious, fresh donuts in town. ( we've lived here 20 years) Owner is soooooo nice, too and remembers locals who are regulars. She uses high quality ingredients and it always tastes like it was just made. Don't waste your money anywhere else because you'll just be disappointed. Bring cash. They don't take cards.

So glad we stopped here on a whim! It looks unassuming on the outside but such fantastic and fluffy donuts, and the donut holes are like little clouds of heaven. The ladies there were also incredibly nice and very easy to chat with, and both Mai and Kham (sorry if I butchered the spelling) were just absolute sweethearts to my wife and I. Very clean and accessible too, the only downside is that we don't live nearby!

Awesome!!! Everything we ate we loved. Long chocolate custard filled, raspberry filled, apple fritter, glazed twist and lemon filled. This is how I remember donuts being when I was a kid. These people know their craft :) Best donuts my wife and I have had in 20+ years. DO NOT DRIVE BY THIS SHOP. STOP AND ENJOY THESE GOODIES TODAY!!! :)

AMAZING!! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the donut selection was incredible even a half hour before close! We got a blueberry cake, apple fritter, and chocolate glazed buttermilk bar. The buttermilk was honestly one of the best me or my friend had ever had. Just the right density and not overly sweet with glaze. The fritter was BIG and so many crispy bits! The cake was delicious as well, although I think we were mostly obsessed with the buttermilk bar. I don?t know if these were out all day or fr

Hands down best donut shop in Central Oregon. Just remember to bring cash with you as no cards are accepted.

Great tasting donuts better than the chains.

Went to buy a dozen donuts this morning, told them the exact donuts that I wanted, so I thought and trusted them to get my order right so I left and when I got home to eat and enjoy my donuts I opened up the box and found that all that I told them was not there, no apple fritters, and missing 3 more donuts when I ordered a dozen I got 9. Do these people listen and do they not know how to count! WTH!! Ruined my desire for a donut this morning.

If you love donuts and you haven't been to Richard's you are missing one of the best parts about Bend. Their donuts are deliciously fluffy, so much that you can eat even two without feeling sick or guilty. Richard's has been a tradition for my family and, in my opinion, is by far the best donut in town. Their cream-filled have quite a reputation, but I haven't had a donut or donut hole there that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. Don't miss out on one of Bend's best breakfast pleasures.

Great doughnuts!! CASH ONLY!!! The inside needs to look a little more presentable by moving all the disorganized boxes and tables out of the front. That might change the energy inside to draw in more good vibes.

Beautiful selection of donuts! Friendly service and I really loved the cinnamon crumb cake donut. We didn't try the puff pastries but they looked wonderful.

I really like donuts. Lately however, it send as though not so much until I found Richard 's. Turns out to many donut friers are leaving me with too much grease which is why I didn't like them. Richard's however, are light and not greasy. We even ate one we had leftover the next day and it was still good.

I?m sorry the only reason they are the biggest and the best is because they are the only donut shop in town. By far the greasiest and bland donuts I ever had. Order 5 different kind they didn?t give me but 4 then took a bit of each one of them and was grateful I didn?t get the fifth. They absolutely had no flavor, and my husband isn?t picky but he wouldn?t eat them. We didn?t like voodoo donuts either but we still ate them. We threw these away. Save your money if your coming from out of town keep driving th

I Asked if I could get a donut off the cooling rack. Ended up with two bars, one chocolate, one maple in a side ways bag. The topping was so warm that I let it cool as I drove for a bit so that it would not run. Lots of fun. Next time I'll look in the cases but warm donuts are the best.

Donuts are great! Cash or venmo only.

The donuts here are only good after theyre made. If you wait 10 minutes, they lose much of what made them good. The dough is plain and has little flavor other than the icing. They taste hollow when bitten into instead of fluffy. Alos cash only is a little strange. I probably will not be coming back.

Grabbed a coffee and my son a donut this morning. The woman behind the counter was super sweet and patient and even threw in a couple extra donut holes for my son without us knowing. This was my first time in and what a great first impression it made! We will definitely be back.

Best Donuts in town!! Always fresh and large variety. If Duncan Donuts were here Richard's Donuts would be the ir competition for sure! 10 out of 10!

Staff has changed so much i use to hate going there because the staff was so unfriendly but not they are sooooo nice! Great donuts and cheap prices, the younger asian girl who works the front counter is so sweet and makes you feel welcomed and helps you decide what to order. Love coming here now. Will be returning with my husband.

Richards is an absolute institution. I've been getting donuts here since I was a kid. Still cash only which feels pretty antiquated. However, their chocolate custard/cream filled are worth the hassle!

Only the ABSOLUTE BEST DONUTS in town! You can taste the love in these bad boys! We have been patrons for so long now we always end up leaving with extra goodies - donut holes for the win! No other donut shop compares to this place. If you haven't been there yet...do it, go now!

Always have a great doughnut here, and never a bad experience. Staff has always treated me nice and been polite. Shop is always clean. This is the only place i go in town. They only except cash, shop there's that, but it's well worth the small inconvenience for their amazing doughnuts.

Pretty good spot for donuts in Bend. They open at 4:30 AM and are cash only. I like their sugar donuts the most, or the chocolate bars. The old fashioned donuts can be hit or miss.

This place has amazing doughnuts and wonderful people inside.

These are easily the best donuts in town, if not all of Oregon. Richard's is a local staple. Other donuts are taboo and it should stay that way. If you are from out of town, reading reviews, give this place a try. Their apple fritters and cinnamon twists are absolutely massive and taste amazing! I have been to Voodoo Donuts in Portland multiple times and they are incredibly over-hyped. What Voodoo does in gimmicks, Richard's makes up for in quality and care put in to each of their donuts.

Amazing donuts!! I thought a little bit on the pricey side, but worth it. Not 5 stars because they only take cash.

The only problem with Richards is there's not one in Redmond. I used to come in every morning because their cinnamon twists are amazing. Very friendly staff. Best doughnuts hands down in central Oregon.

Richards donuts has always been the best place to get donuts in bend. A community staple too. If you bring donuts anywhere the first question someone will ask is "are they from richards?" Better bring cash though that's all they accept.

There is no donut place that comes close to this. Absolutely delicious and my sinful treat. Yeah they don't take credit cards, so what. Keep a 20 in your purse and get over it. They are friendly and serve the best stuff

Great friendly staff. It was my first time in the shop and was very impressed. Would recommend for anyone who wants some donuts. It is cash only store but prices are great!

Been coming to Richard's Donuts for 15 years! There's a reason it gets the Best Donut honors in local polls. Great variety, very consistent quality, something for everyone!

Best donuts, bear claw is the best I've ever had. That said though, the owner Kam is the real reason I rate so high. She is wonderful, friendly, kind, and remembers everyone who comes through the door.
