Randall Bakery

Randall Bakery

Reviews Summary

Randall Bakery is overwhelmingly praised for its exceptional pasties (especially breakfast and Cornish styles), delicious donuts, and wide variety of fresh, high-quality baked goods at very reasonable prices. Customers consistently highlight the friendly service and nostalgic atmosphere. The bakery's raspberry tort, prune danishes, turnovers, and artisan bread (available Fridays) are standout favorites. While most reviews are glowing, a few note occasional stock issues (selling out early or frozen pasties requiring wait times) and rare order mishaps. The bakery's long-standing tradition, generous portions, and homemade feel make it a beloved destination, with many calling it the best in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Some recommend calling ahead for specialty items.

Wonderful tasty and large breakfast pasties! They were a first for us and left us wanting more! Lady who served us was so nice and even gave my son a bottle of iced tea while he waited for fresh pasties to bake! Other pastry goods were yummy, as well. But again, we will never forget those pasties!!

Eclectic and original. But the food...hands down the best pasty I've had. The flakey crust was amazing. The Cookies were also amazing. We completely recommend this place. No complaints. I personally prefer gravy with my pasty but I totally understand that ketchup is popular. With that being said the homemade spicy ketchup was good. Third or fourth visit, can't remember. Still amazing. Waited for pasties this time. As always worth the wait. I recommend getting some to go especially breakfast ones, air fryer

We come to visit every time we?re in UP. There is no other establishment in the area that compares when it comes to pasty?s. Flaky, well seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Piping hot if you get them on-site too. We also tried the frozen veggie pasty?s at home - they were outstanding! Lastly, their traditional bakery items (like the blueberry bread) was incredible. Go visit and support!

I love getting a hot pasty when I pass through Wakefield. Try Mr. Randall?s hot ketchup on one. Plus the tried and true recipe, atmosphere, and affordable price can?t be beat. Why reinvent the wheel, right?!

If you're in the area, you MUST stop at Randall Bakery! The food, service, atmosphere, smell, and selection are spectacular. We come once per year for breakfast and let the kids get everything they want, from donuts, to pasties, to unique heritage treats, it's all amazing. A foreign exchange student from Czech Republic was with us, and felt right at home; commenting that the Kolache was excellent! If you're still reading this, get off your phone and go to Randall Bakery! You'll be very pleased with you

Just left this place and had an amazing tasty traditional pastie and a couple glazed doughnuts ? for Breakfeast. Perfect Americana perfect bakery .. places like this need Rave reviews!!!

This place has some of the best pasties in Michigan, make sure to stop here if you are looking. The donuts are good too. Call an hour ahead if you want a speciality pasty.

Pasties and donuts. They ran out of cinnamon rolls just as I got there so I opted for a Danish and an original pasty. Both were alright. The pasty was pretty flavorless (like mostly boiled potato). Nice people, cute establishment.

Ordered the puff pastry what came to my table was more like a flat pastry. It was very dry and bland. I recommend going to other pastries shop in town if you can.

Got a hot breakfast pastie and loved it. Fun little bakery to stop by after you head out of the porcupine mountains.

Tried to order pasties to eat, but they were frozen and would have taken 45 minutes to bake. No matter. We picked up a bag of pastries instead. We had an elephant ear, Apple fritter, Bismark and something with whipped cream. They were all excellent. The server was very nice and attentive.

The cakes and donuts are amazing, don't drive by without stopping in. You won't regret it!

Vacationed in Ironwood last weekend got some vegetarian Pasties and they were amazing!! Bought extra to bring home to Madison, WI. Sad it'll be awhile before I get some again. Lady behind the counter was swamped with customers but very nice! Cozy little place, highly recommend a visit if your in the area. Also my partner's father got us all some cookies that were to die for!

OMG! This place is amazing! Loved the breakfast pasty.

This is a gem of a place. So authentic. Feels like a step back in time. Their food is delicious- Pasties and baking! The prices are very reasonable. Easy to see why this restaurant has such good reviews.

One of the best places on the UP when it comes to great setvice and delicious snacks. Definitely worth a visit, also because of the really fair prices.

The best pastys I have ever eaten.

Love this place. Always make detour to Wakefield when visiting western UP from Chicago. The best pasties, the best bakery goods. And who cares about the street construction. Visited yesterday and the temporary entrance was through the back kitchen! Awesome!

Stopped in after a morning out exploring the area. The maple pecan Kringle was fantastic. Enjoyed a freshly baked pasty as well. Also took a few to go that were easy to bake in the oven, they were also delicious.

I've been from one end of the UP to the other and my stop at Randall Bakery was one of the top highlights of our trip. The pasties were THE BEST we have ever had and the local vibe and history made it a stop I will remember for a lifetime!

Awesome bakery. Pastries were excellent. Lady that owns the place said she makes everything there and fresh. Would definitely stop in there next time we're driving through.

I come from a long line of pasty makers. I have to say that their Cornish pasty was one of the best I've ever had! I asked for ketchup, I didn't even need it. It was so delicious and moist! Had nice ratio of meat and veggies! I'm excited to try some of the other varieties of pastys they have!

Best Pasties I have ever had. I tried the Cornish and the original and both were fantastic! I had a great pumpkin fry cake for dessert. ?? I will plan my future travels to include this as a stop for sure! The lady serving was so great! She needs a raise!! We went yesterday.

Quite possibly the very best pastys in the Western half of the U.P. They have a nice selection of pastys (Traditional - highly recommended!) and breakfast pastys, too. Priced right, usually a good inventory of frozen pastys in stock (for the road trip) and always a friendly smile from the servers there. A couple of tables and a "pasty bar" if you're staying to eat a fresh one... the crusts are perfection - precisely what you'd expect from the best bakery within 50 miles or better. Don't forget to grab some

Best bakery EVER! Awesome breakfast pasties! A must go & perfect prices!

Came herefor the first time after camping in The Porkies and had pasties for the first time and they were delicious! The lady at the counter was very nice and helpful and their donuts, rolls, and cookies were good too (I've had better tho). Definitely worth a visit foe the pasties if you're in the area!

People come from Chicago to this place. Every time we are in town this is a "must" stop. Come early, once they sell out, sometimes before noon, that's it. Grab a breakfast pasty while you are there.

The best Bakery anywhere! Great cinnamon rolls & turnovers. We went back 2 days later and got more. Never seen such large chocolate chip cookies for .75 cents! We got bags of goodies to go. Great reason to live in the UP. 2 years later and we stopped at Randall bakery again. Got Pasties to take home, more rolls and cookies. Still the best.

We stopped at the Roger Randall bakery as we were passing through town. We had two delicious pasties one traditional and the other breakfast. The traditional pasty was better. We recently discovered this traditional meal in the Northern Upper Peninsula. Love it. The bakery has been in existence since the early 1900. There are several pictures on the walls.

Great selection of tasty baked goods, and very nice staff. Fresh bread, buns, cookies, donuts and other delicacies. They have fresh pasties which smelled delicious, but we haven't had any to date. You can always call ahead and order. They have some seating. Definitely worth the stop!

Super friendly staff and absolutely amazing pastries and pasty?s! 10/10 recommend, would go back if I lived closer

First time ever having a Pasty (got the vegetarian one) and it was delicious! They also make a really delicious doughnut!

We arrived an hour before closing, but were still greeted with a cheery 'you here for pasties?' Indeed we were and they were plated before we were settled in. One pasty may be enough (classic pork, Cornish, veggie, breakfast), but save room for bakery cookie, sweet roll or fruit tart. Seating is right out of the 1950s, baker makes great pasty crusts and classic muffins. THIS place is worth the stop, prices are very good and bakery and service are out of this world. They accept cash, debit and credit cards

Awesome bakery! The person serving was very kind and the prices are very low. The food is great! I would recommend it definitely.

This place looks pretty beat up from the outside, and the decor inside is also old and worn, yet this somehow adds to its old-timey charm. The real treasure here is the friendly waitress/salesperson and the unbeatable baked goods! The pasties are the best I?ve had, and the donuts and cookies are real treats. Day-old and even end-of-the day donuts are sold for $1 a bag, which contains at least half a dozen. The steady stream of customers shows that others appreciate this bakery/coffee shop as well.

Excellent bakery for custom orders. Beautiful and delicious.

Very good pastys and other bakery items. Friendly staff too! Definitely worth stopping by for anyone traveling through.

The best donut of my life!!!! They're glazed donut is better than all of the specialty donut shops in St. Paul & Minneapolis. I wish I would've bought more than just one glazed. The pasties are also the best I've had of 4 other shops in Michigan. This place could make a killing if they expanded to Instagram & shipped. Incredible. Stock up on their frozen pasties hardcore! There awesome for making dinner parties tasty & easy.

Wow! Delicious pasties and super yummy baked goods. Plus, it seems like the prices are stuck in 1997; 75? for a cookie!?

We are new to the area and stopped in on a Tuesday for a pasty. This is a homey little bakery with a diner vibe. Fresh baked bread and pastries, coffee and a great selection of pasties. Eat in, take out fresh or frozen or call ahead to pick up an order. Real gem of a spot. Bring cash, I didn't see a credit card machine ??

Awesome old fashioned bakery! Always stop here when in the U.P. Did I mention the pasties are the best anywhere! They have them frozen or you can eat one there. My favorite is the cornish style. They have great cookies, donuts and breads as well. Super nice people!

Amazing pasties. Love that they have a vegetarian option, and the jalape?o is fabulous as well. Called ahead to have them heat up our order, and they forgot, but they heat up wonderfully from frozen at home, so no big deal. Bought more later in the week to have in the freezer and share with friends. Don't miss out on these hearty, convenient meals, just save a few for me!

Best bakery in the UP. Their raspberry tort was a dessert staple of family get togethers. Their prune danishes are fantastic for breakfast and their raspberry turnovers follow along that same line. Everything in the counter (bakery wise) always seems so inexpensive for what it is. I've tried to spend $40 here on cookies and treats to bring to family get togethers and it's always amazing how much food I walk away with even when I've not hit that $40. The pasties here are also some of the best I've ever had

Stopped in during our vacation trip in the UP to buy pasties for back home. The pasties are excellent. Among the best pasties I have eaten. And the other bakery goods (cookies, blueberry Danish) were equally great. This place is a gem from a bygone era.

I drove hundreds of miles the long way en route to see my family just so I could come through Wakefield to get a pasty. I've been dreaming of their pastys for the 8 years since I first had one. I just finished one and I'm so full. It was even better than I remembered. Flaky, perfect crust, tender, juicy, flavorful filling. I ordered 3 hot and 2 frozen to go. Got some Bavarian creme donuts too. I'm still sitting here and I'm already sad that I won't be here tomorrow.

Old school, small town bakery frequented by the locals. Grabbed a couple of pasties since I couldn't go to the UP without trying the local version. There were only a couple "flavors" available hot and ready to go, but there was at least a half dozen other varieties available with an hour's notice. (Call?) Donuts and cookies too. Pasties were good: dense, hot and filing. Cookies were good too.

The person at the counter was incredibly friendly and patient to anyone we saw her serve. When we asked if there were any apple fritters, she checked in back to see if they were ready and grabbed us one. Make sure to ask if you don't see them because you'll want to try one! Best apple fritter and I really liked their breakfast pasties. We'll be going back this week to try more! Prices are unbelievably reasonable. Oh and one more note, they have frozen pasties to go! In case that's your thing.

We were passing by Wakefield from Lake Gogebic to Minneapolis. Randall Bakery was 3 blocks off the main route. Boy, were we glad we took the detour! The donuts, cinnamon twists, cookies and everything else be bought were absolutely delicious. And fresh! This place has baked family owned recipes for 78 years. It is worth every minute of your added trip time.

Everyone told me to go here for the pasties. I was impressed by how busy it was and yet I got my food quickly. They have a family recipe that is kept secret and it definitely shows. It was my first pastie and a great place to try it for my first time. They are busy for a reason and you will not be disappointed.

Grandpa taught his grandson how to make great bakery. Fantastic! Unfortunately Grandpa did not teach his grandson how to operate a business. There is a reason that HELP WANTED is constantly on the door. There is a labor shortage and employees can now determine where they want to work. When ?RUDE DONNA? is the accepted standard. The quality of perspective employees hits rock bottom. Servers choose where they can make the most tips. With ?RUDE DONNA? chasing customers off. It is simple. The good tips leave w

Best bakery around! Mouthwatering pastries, doughnuts, pasties and two words: Artisan Bread. An old world recipe that requires days of dough proofing, resulting in the most delicious loaf of unbelievably delicious goodness. The bread is only available on Fridays...that's how special it is! The staff is incredible as well. Get there early folks!

We followed the signs for this bakery after emerging from the Porkies on our way to Black River Harbor. They have wonderful donuts and fritters and cinnamon buns. Plus, the price is low for these excellent products. The coffee is decent and does its job. Ten out of 10 would go again!

Incredibly Delicious Pasties, Donuts, Pastries, Cookies and a great variety of them. I wish I would have bought a loaf of bread too. Friendly and efficient. Do not miss this scrumptious place!!

So good and tasty! Amazing prices! Believe It! All the Best!

If you find yourself passing-through Wakefield do yourself a favor, grab yourself (and your family) some pasties!! In short, so good!!! We grabbed a Cornish and Traditional pasty both of which were fantastic. Mel was great (and easily convinced me to get some pasties frozen for later).

Great small town bakery. Donuts and pastries were great. Love the pasties i took home frozen. They were very good. Will stop again when in the area.

We drive 1.5 hours out of the way on vacation every year just to visit this bakery. Great baked goods. We love the environment in the bakery. Everyone is super friendly and you can tell it is the local hangout. Usually a few people waiting and only 1 person working the counter so prepare to take your time.

Very friendly even though there was a line and she was the only employee there. The pasties were delicious and stayed hot for the 20 minute drive home. Can't wait to try the pastries and cookies I bought. :D

The breakfast pasty was one of the best things ive ever ate. Happy we stumbled on this place

Breakfast pasties are absolutely the best i pick up at least a dozen every time I'm in the area

Great pasties and amazing customer service! The waitress was very polite and she did a great job helping all the customers in the middle of a power outage. I highly recommend them and will definitely be stopping again next time I am in the area! :)

I was told about pastys by a friend of mine from lower Michigan. So when I saw the sign I had to stop. Not knowing that you can call ahead, I waited about 20 minutes to get my order... but they were very much worth it. Nice warm fresh potatoe meat mix inside a nice flakey crust. They definitely made me a fan of pastys.

We were so excited to see the bakery open. It seems we always go by sunday late afternoon after skiing. We bought a 1/2 dozen cookies and a couple Pasties for dinner at the campground. Fantastic! We will make a point if hitting you up before skiing!!!

Stopped in for a few pasties to go, and they did not disappoint. Cant wait to come back and try some of the other baked goods.

Great old fashioned bakery. The potato rolls are the best we have ever had. The pastries are delicious, but our favorite are the pasties! We have tried pasties from other places, but none are as good as Randall's.

If you have some dry and bland impression of pasties leave it BEHIND and go to Randall Bakery. We had the Breakfast and the Cornish and I am already dreaming of the flakey crust and savory filling. Did I mention the pastries? We had a cherry donut with chocolate glaze, a cinnamon twist and roll, and my favorite, an apple fritter that dissolved in my mouth.

I received my 3 dozen pasties today? I was waiting for the Ups driver like a little kid on Christmas!! I wasn?t disappointed they were beyond delicious!! Thank goodness I ordered 3 dozen !!

If only I could live there. The pasties are the best I've ever had and the bakery goods are just the way they should be. If only I could order a case full online. I'll always plan a stop in Wakefield all because of Randall's Bakery. Thanks again ??

Don't bother to place your order ahead of time. Take what Pasties are there to choose from. Delicious Pasties and baked goods. Best elephant ears I have ever eaten!

Great donuts.....coffee sucks...two creamers made my coffee white, literally poured it out full and stopped at the gas station for more.

I've had pasties from many different places. These pasties r by far the best of all. A must try. They also ship to anywhere starting sometime n November thru winter. Everything tastes good and homemade!

We tried a breakfast pasty, traditional pasty, and a blueberry turnover to go. Perfect quick, hot meal on our road trip. Everything tasted wonderful!

Some of the best baked goods anywhere. One star off for not so great worker. Very unaware of her job. Shmoosed a bunch of donuts in a too small bag. Let another go first while I waited before they came in. Acted like I wasn't there. Young and dumb. Hard to get good help I guess. Do go in though! Great bakery otherwise.

Best pasty in the UP. Their strawberry rhubarb mini-pie was superb! So many other baked goodies like turnovers, fritters, cookies, danishes and more, all baked to perfection. Yum!

Wow, what a walk back into time. A truly old fashion bakery located in the old downtown of Wakefield. They have a bar w/ stools where you can enjoy coffee and baked goods [I never see that setup anymore]. The cinnamon roll I had was amazing. Great texture, not greasy & the perfect amount of frosting. Also purchased a couple cookies that were great. I hope this bakery keeps truck'n for many years.

Cute place. Stumbled upon it randomly. We went very late in the day, and there wasn't a lot left in the bakery. But we did get was very good; cookies and a few cinnamon rolls. Very nice woman working the counter.

The breakfast pasties were the best we ever had and the original ones were excellent as well. Donuts were fantastic, great prices, excellent service! What a gem!

Randall's bakery is a great hometown bakery, everything is freshly made on a daily basis. Donuts are wonderful and pasties are delicious.

I tried to buy a pasty here, but the warm ones were already sold out. There was a fairly long line today, so I hope to get a chance to try their treats soon.

This is a definite stop in Wakefield, MI. We had fantastic service and the best breakfast pasty, ever, and for dessert, an apple turnover! Go here! You won't regret it!!!

Best pasty of my UP trip! Looking forward to ordering some for delivery. The sweets were good too, and reasonable prices.

I just had my first breakfast pasty, and wow what a treat! I do not know how I haven't had one of these in the last 30 years... Also, the bread, donuts and pastries here are as good as I have had anywhere.

Found this place by accident and so happy we did. Best bakery items and breakfast pasty we?ve ever had!

I ordered a blueberry pie the morning of 8/13. I said I would pick it up after 3:30 and was told that would not be a problem. When I went to pick it up there was no blueberry pie. I was told "they must of forgot to tell them to make it". The worker also said "maybe it was sold'. I was told there was an apple pie. This was ordered for a gentlemans 77th birthday. Blueberry is his favorite pie. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Left with no pie. If I ordered it, why would someone sell it?

Love this place for quality of food but don?t depend on them for a birthday cake. May show up and get ?it wasn?t made, I don?t know why?

Decafe coffee wouldn't make a pot because they were running out for the next day customers ????? Go buy some .

A diamond in the rough, this place has incredible pasties and pastries!

Opened early for me (I didn't realize I'd driven into New time zone) great service, kind staff and lots of locals who didn't mind me evesdropping, glad I noticed the billboard
