Queen Donut

Queen Donut

Reviews Summary

Queen Donut is highly praised for its fresh, delicious donuts and kolaches, with many highlighting the glazed donuts, cinnamon sugar twists, and sausage kolaches as standout items. Customers appreciate the friendly, efficient service and family-owned atmosphere. While most reviews are positive (many 5-star), some note inconsistencies in kolache quality or service over time. A few mention kolaches being slightly underwhelming or donuts losing freshness later in the day. The blueberry cake donut, croissant sausage rolls, and jalapeño boudin kolaches receive special mentions. Minor critiques include a $5 credit card minimum and occasional stale items. Overall, it’s a beloved spot for quality, quick breakfasts with a loyal following.

Before I leave for Dallas I decide to stop at this little shop that specializes in donuts. I get 4: 1 chocolate, 1 caramel, 1 chocolate with hazelnuts and 1 with chocolate and a mixture of corn flakes and fuffetti. The donuts are well filled and nicely decorated. The dough is a cross between a classic donut and a doughnut. Yummy, maybe a thoughtful thread, but yummy nonetheless. The place is really simple, with a display case that shows off the products nicely. Service is fast and friendly. The price of the

Loved their jumbo kolaches and efficient and friendly service. The kolaches were served warm fresh out of the oven. What made them stand out was the fact that the bread was slightly crusty/flakey and the hotdog was larger than usual, making for a more balanced bread-to-meat ratio. I?ve had fancier juicer sausages, which probably taste great on their own, in kolaches but for $2.80, the Queen Donut ones are a winner!

I've been getting donuts and other breakfast items here for years and never misses staff is very kind and let you take your time and don't rush you when you're trying to make a decision on what to get. They also have a really good variety of flavors for donuts or cake donuts and their meat donuts are really good to you if they see this or you I recommend that they make a version of their meat donuts but where the breading is glazed and then everything else is stays exactly how it is highly recommend check t

Came to try the maple bacon. Would give a 4 It was good but was missing something. Maybe the bacon wasn't crispy enough. But was not bad. Cheese sausage croissant was good but little soggy. Jalape?o cheese sausage kolaches had the best flavor but too much bread to stuff ratio for me. The apple fritter was probably the best as far as flavor. Big selection and open 7 days a week. Friendly staff. If you are in the area go but not worth traveling for.

I've been eating their kolaches since I was a kid. I always get the jalape?o and cheese. I prefer donuts from Shipley's. Their donut holes are the best though.

I never noticed this place. Before today, but my friend was needing a sugar fix . There are no vegan options here this is donut shop classic donuts and kolaches. The clerk told me independently owned for over 26 years. I noticed a core of locals coming through. It is clean service fast and friendly. There is ample parking

This place makes me so happy ? I go almost every Sunday and my pup loves riding with me every time. I have a sweet tooth only for donuts, and of all the donut shops in town (I have tried almost all of them), I their glaze is the best. The cinnamon sugar twist is out of this world good. They have amazing prices, good hot breakfast items / kolaches, and a pretty on point selection of cold drinks including sodas, Red Bull, even strawberry milk. Friendly staff and super quick service every time! Clean restauran

Best donuts and kolaches I?ve had in a long time. Definitely coming back.

I tried the kaloche for the first time so my review is strictly based on that. I did not like it. There was waaaay to much bread and what's being called a sausage on the kaloche eas more of a hotdog. The service wasn't great but it wasn't bad either buuuut this was a first and last for me.

Guys - I felt in love!!! I was looking for a Starbucks / DD place around the are and I found this place!!! OMG it is full of colors, friendly and delicious ?? Also I felt proud of supporting our local business!!! ??

UPDATE: Things have improved since my last visit last year. It looks like new ownership again. But I recently visited on Saturday Feb 8, 2025 and the donuts were as delicious as my prior visits there over the past 10 years. They changed the recipe to be like the original. This used to be my favorite donut place. They used to be so good. But my last 3 visits have been very disappointing. The donuts were dry and stale. I usually try to catch them when the donuts are hot but there isn't a consistent time to d

This place is a staple of the community and a local favorite. They do get busy but the wait is never too long. Everything on the menu is delicious, and everyone needs to have the meat donut! Is a donut stuffed with eight sausage bacon or ham, with egg and cheese inside!

Always fresh! Always fast! Always friendly! Love swinging by on my way to work. Cheers guys

Fantastic all around, but the apple fritters in particular are to die for!

Delicious donuts and kolaches! The dough they use for the kolaches has just a tiny hint of sweetness which is extra delicious with the savory filling! This place is no where near my home, but worth the drive! There's extra parking in the back. Line might be out the door, but don't let that deter you, it moves quickly.

Delicious and fresh donuts and kolaches. Quick and friendly service. Favorites include the blueberry cake donut and the croissant sausage roll.

Those kolaches are damn good. The boudin and the cheese jalape?o in particular. I come from The Woodlands for those. Well worth the trip. It's located across a gym and the bayou trail so you can treat yourself and work it off. I shall return!!!

Went on a little excursion today to sample some donuts - had the simple glazed, maple bacon and a sausage cheese kolache. Didn't really care for the raised n glazed or the kolache but the maple bacon was tasty! Service was friendly and fast!

I was very impressed with Queen Donut. I purchased three breakfast items, all were quite good. The prices are very reasonable. The service was quick and friendly. This place is definitely a cut above the other donut shops.

We get breakfast from here at least once a week. Always good! SCS

Very kind staff. He was funny when I asked where the name of the shop came from and we joked about missing the King in the name. The staff seem happy to work there, like they enjoy their jobs. I'll definitely return when I'm in town. I ordered cinnamon buns and sprinkled donuts. I'll get them heated up next time so they are warm.

I love the apple fritters from queen donut. Probably the best apple fritter in the heights now that hugs and donuts closed. The kolaches are also tasty and come in more variety of flavors and sizes than many other spots. Support a local business and come try out queen donuts one day

I love this place. The owners are friendly and quick, and the donuts and kolaches are fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back!

Excellent boudin kolache and Vietnamese coffee

Jalape?o Boudin kolache is perfection

Awesome donuts. I will definitely be back again!

I tried Queen Donuts for my first time. We went early Sunday. The display case was full and there were plenty of smiling servers. The spicy boudin was very tasty. Cinnamon rolls were fresh from the oven and about as tasty as can be. Mrs Donuts on Memorial is the best in town that I have found, and Queen may tie them for the top spot - I will need to return a few more times to decide!

This place is absolutely a hidden gem ,the kolaches are soooo delicious and fresh everyday,I am addicted to this place now!

Been coming since 2001 Best Donut Place since childhood but recently I haven't seen the owner and the quality isn't the same. Different faces are in the front and it doesn't feel like it was when the owner his wife and son where there. Anyone know what happened?

Queen Donut Shop makes the best donuts in Houston. The boudain jalapeno kolaches, meat donuts and maple bacon donuts take the cake.

Moved recently into the area and been searching for a spot AND this is it! This is a hidden gem. Pastries so fresh... you can taste the butter. Prices are very reasonable and the staff very friendly. Well definitely be my go-to spot.

Born and raised in Houston and have always loved Shipleys. I went to one about a week ago, got 2 donuts and 1 kolache, just sausage and cheese. Cheese was runny, poor quality sausage and stale bread. Didn't finish it. They've gone down hill unfortunately. I was kinda heartbroken lol. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have Queen Donut. I live very close and have been numerous times. They always offer to warm up your kolache. Better quality ingredients, you can just taste it, trust me. Small shop, and s

They have THE BEST sausage cheese kolaches in Texas. I love that it?s not overwhelmed with bread like other places. The sausage piece is huge and delicious. Anytime you go there, even late in the morning, the donuts are warm and fresh! The staff are super friendly as well and it?s a clean joint.

Edit*** (02/2024) Something has changed. The kolaches aren't as good, and the service is not as friendly. The donuts are still solid and the meat donuts are pretty good. The kolaches aren't worth it. ******** This is the best kolache bread in Houston. I wish there was a little more cheese in them, but bread is amazing. ?? Upgrading this to a 5 star. Their meat donuts are amazing. Try a sausage and egg.

BEST donuts in Houston (or really anywhere). Kolaches are amazing. The kolaches are made with sweet bread so if you don't like that...what's wrong with you. Service is excellent and the family that runs the shop work harder than anyone. Other trendier donut shops in the area charge 2-3x what these guys charge... go support a small business!

My favorite independent donut shop. I've been going here for many years and the same people have been cooking up and serving those glorious rings of sugary goodness. These folks work so hard and are always so gracious. Just great, simple, non-fussy donuts and kolaches. Near perfect apple fitters and my favorite old fashioned donut anywhere. Their glazed donuts, especially when hot and fresh are second to none. Support these fine folks, even if you don't eat donuts. Buy a box for friends, or buy a box and m

Love the donuts & good value, however, it's very small & there's regular a line out the door so don't come in a rush

My favorite donuts, especially the donut holes - they remind me of the donut holes I would get as a child and they?re perfect! The blueberry cake is also always great.

I?ve been going here since I was a kid and I?m in my late 20 now! I literally just tried a new donut shop and was so disappointed that I had to come here immediately afterwards to cheer up my spirits from it lol food never disappoints, I?ll never take you for granted Queen Donuts!

Wonderful selection if donuts and kolaches. Friendly and fast service. My family thinks their kolaches are better than Shirley's which says a ton! Definitely give this donut shop a try! They also accept Google Pay.

I can't believe I haven't been here before! The first time I came across Queen Donut was on the busy Easter weekend were I had to take a selection of donuts and kolaches over to a Sunday brunch. Where as people were queuing up like made everywhere else, here everything was so orderly and smooth. Got in quickly, got some excellent kolaches and donuts for the family and got out without loosing to much in time or in the wallet. Definitely going to return and suggest you'll check them out too. The staff is so n

The blueberry cake donut is my favorite. This location is great for a quick bite or for donut birthday orders. Staff is friendly and efficient. Don't be afraid of a line out the door, they get everyone through fast and happy.

I love queen donut. The food is great. I have been going there for 30 years. The food had never failed.

I love this place I've been coming here often on for about 6 years. They have great donuts and a good selection also. It's family owned they're really awesome and they couldn't be friendlier. This is exactly the kind of donut place everybody wants! Queen Donut is king!

The best kolaches I ever had. Open 7 days a week but you have to get there before 12:00. Everything is always made fresh

This doughnut place is awesome! Great kolaches, croissants, and definitely doughnuts! Great customer service. If you are near drop by you will not be disappointed. My favorite is the ham and cheese croissant. it just melts in your mouth. Now I want one!

Yay! I am happy to have found a donut shop near my residence that is excellent! I have visited this location several times and each time, I was satisfied and grateful! The donuts are always fresh and very delicious! The selection and variety is always great. I like the employees as well! They are friendly and pleasant. The prices are good for the donuts also! Thank you Queen donut!

Best donut shop in Houston, family owned and always slangin donuts that are amazing.

Great selection, friendly service. My family's favorite donut shop in Houston. Love the blueberry donuts and sausage biscuits.

They have the best apple fritters I have ever had. I have searched all of Wisconsin, near apple country, and nothing comes even close. The owners are gracious, kind and friendly. What's not to like?

Always a pleasant experience. Been going here for a decade off and on. The food quality is always consistent, and the menu evolves a little bit over time. Highly recommend.

I have gone here for over 15 years and until recently it had been amazing. But, the owners are no longer at the location daily or they have sold and and the food quality and service have gone down hill.

The line isn't out of the door for no reason! This morning hit spot is a locals favorite. The family owned business makes you feel more than welcome in their establishment. It's enough energy in the visit you feel motivated before even taking a sip of your coffee.

Consistently great pastries, sure. But the friendly folks who run this place along with the neighborhood clientele make this a no brainer for your regular family tradition or bringing a smile to your coworkers' faces.

Hidden gem! Infinitely better than Dunkin, everything was FRESH and FLUFFY, maybe the fluffiest donut I ever ate! I took 4 extraordinary sausage jalapeno rolls to go with me back to Dallas. Even tomorrow they will probably be better than what's near my house. I didn't try their baked cinnamon roll w/cream cheese icing (because a guy bought the last one right in front of me), but next time I'm in HOU I'll get here earlier!

Employees are awesome. Food too notch. Incredible selection. Get there early to get the hot ones! Worth the wait.

Danny is awesome is open during the freeze!

Always a good time. Fair pricing. Quick even when the line is around the corner. Best cake donuts around. All the donuts + kolaches are great. Friendly staff.

Been coming right around 4:30-5AM for years. They have consistently great food and smiling service. The blueberry cake donuts and ham and cheese croissants are my favorite. (I miss "Queen Dairy")

My children and I love their donuts. They are lightweight, fluffy, and always fresh. People who work there are so kind and courteous as well.

Fantastic donuts, so much better than the chain places. Friendly, fast service. And family owned and operated. Every patron who walked in seemed like they've been coming there for years. What more can you ask for.

Idk they were okay average at best. I had old fashion, glazed, sausageKolache. Not real sausage it?s that hot dog inside a ton of bread. Can never find the Chappell hill type sausage anymore. I think Shipley is still way better at least they serve warm donuts if you go early. I went here at 830. Not warm so idk basic if u ask me

Best staff on Earth, best ham croissants on Earth, NO WHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD has flaky melt in your mouth glazed donuts like Queens! My favorite place hands down.. I don't know what kind of magic they have back there in the back but LAWD ????????

Great donuts and kolaches. Good prices too. The family that runs this place is really nice and their pride really shines in the food they provide. Amazing Apple fritters, cinnamon rolls and old fashioned donuts.

A millennia ago, baking donuts was my first job out of college. In my 3 month career, I sampled the product, quality control and all. I learned that a raised donut more than 3 hours from the fat changes texture and mouth feel. I try to stop for them in the morning before 10. I happened on Queen donuts for the first time as I drove by at lunch time. I sampled the basic glazed which was a light tan in color showing that it had been cooked quickly and had been exposed to the fat as little as possible so not he

If you want an apple fritter this is your donut shop. They are HUGE! They are JUICY! They are AMAZING! If the other options are anywhere near as delicious, this is probably your best bet for a good donut in the Houston Metro Area

HOLY CRAP this place has the best doughnuts I have ever had. My wife had the kolaches and after her first bite she proclaimed it as fresh and the best kolache she ever had. As this is a family owned doughnut shop they only have the one location. In a way that makes me sad, but the upside being I won't gain 20 lbs.

The jumbo jalape?o sausage are my favorite kolaches anywhere. Pastry is so soft and there's the perfect combination of subtle sweet to compliment the succulent meat. Service is second to none. Even when there's a line you can be in and out in a few mins.

For those of you that like the more cakey donut (hence Dunkin, or Shipleys) you will be disappointed. However, if you like the more moist melt in your mouth type of donut (think Krispy Kreme) then this is your place. The staff is amazing. In and out in less than one minute. The selection is wonderful- donuts, kolaches, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and even old fashioned donuts. They taste fresh! Not old. The icing on the donuts is to die for delicious. I hope this place stays open forever, it's amazing.

Service is awesome, staff is very friendly. Weekends can get busy, because these are the best donuts around. Try the meat donut and apple fritters you won't regret it.

I?ve been on a mission to find the best donuts in Houston and I think these guys are it. They are fluffy and wonderful. 10/10 recommend.

Queen's is a neighborhood staple - its always so quick and seamless to order and they have top tier quality food.

Donuts were excellent. At least as good as Shipley?s? better even, depending which Shipley?s you compare to. Kolaches were so-so. Service was fast. I took off a star for the Kolaches and the $5 min credit card charge.

Excellent Kolaches (soft dough) and donuts too. Fresh and the office loved them all. Only disappointment was they only had meat kolaches. I would have loved some fruit/cheese but I'm going back again anyway :)

Came down from Dallas for work and looked for a great breakfast joint. Stumbled upon Queen Donut shop and boy was I impressed!! Clean, great people, awesome food! Definitely a 5 star!

Friendly staff! Good kolaches, sweet dough. Not the real deal though. Donuts are good when hot! Don't get donut holes after 11am. A little expensive just in general.

I will never go to Shipleys again! The donuts and kolaches are the best I have had in a very long while

First time here, kolaches didn?t disappoint !!!

Very friendly. Great tasting donut holes, kolaches, and chocolate donuts! Opens early!

Honestly I have always been a Shipley kind of person but when I happened to stop by here one day, I fell in love. Donuts are so airy and soft and they just melt in your mouth

Im kicking myself. I have lived by this place for 4 years and barley tried it for the first time few weeks ago. Doughnuts are awesome. Also try the breakfast doughnut with egg and sausage. Really good for people on the go. In and Out.

Best donuts in town! Even have Boudain Kolaches (so wish I ate meat still). I've been going to them for years for my hospital team and they love them!

Queen donut is my all time favorite doughnuts place.always friendly and reasonable prices. My favorite place to stop by in the morning and order a bacon and egg croissant and they're very nice people over all.

Boudain Kolaches. Ham and Cheese Crossiant. Standard Glazed Donut. And the best donut holes the city has to offer.

The best kolaches around. These are not traditional kolaches but the pigs-in-a-blanket or sausage roll variety. I wish they stayed open all night!

By far the best sausage and cheese kolaches in Houston. Low prices. Highly recommend for a great, quick, inexpensive breakfast.

OMG the sausage and cheese croissants and the powder sugar donuts are off the chain...I don't like kolaches so the croissants are my go to here. They also have great customer service.??

Not bad. Donuts were cold. Staff was ok, pretty quick. Convenient location. I'd go there again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
