Primo's Donuts

Primo's Donuts

Reviews Summary

Primo's Donuts is widely praised for its exceptional buttermilk bars, described as crispy yet soft with a perfect balance of flavors. Many highlight the shop's family-owned charm, friendly service, and fresh, high-quality donuts, particularly the glazed, blueberry fritters, and vegan options. The coffee also receives positive mentions. While most reviews are glowing, a few criticize pricing or occasional service issues. The shop's legacy (since 1956) and cozy atmosphere make it a beloved West LA staple, though some note the interior is unremarkable. Overall, it's considered one of LA's best donut spots, with standout items worth visiting for.

Got a Dozen of Some O.G donuts ?? I wish That I could've ate more but I did enjoy the 2 donuts I ate. The lady behind the cashier was very Nice. Highly recommend stopping By. Side Note why isn't there A Military Discount

Maybe my expectations were too high, the glazed buttermilk was a little dry. The butterfly was decent but would not be my top choice.

Cop'd a couple of donuts from an LA staple. They tasted okay.. Definitely could have been fresher!

Some of the best donuts in LA! Family owned and operated. The buttermilk bar is so yummy!! A must. They have a wide variety of donuts and cinnamon rolls. All of it is so fire!! Put this on your list of must stop donut shops in Los Angeles!

Delicious vegan donuts. On the weekends they make also fluffy vegan ones. These people know the art of donuts for sure.

Primo's was recommended to us by a local, as the "best donuts in LA", and they sure lived up to the it! The cake donuts aren't dry like some places, and the icing flavors are delicious and full of flavor. Support a local business and swing by!

They claim to be the best donuts in LA and they are 100% correct. Picked up a half dozen for my office on the way to work and they were still warm when I got to the office. Their cake donuts melted in my mouth and the buttermilk were off the hook! Definitely a must try if you're a donut connoisseur.

I have been here 2 times. Not a fan of their pricing. Their donuts seem to be overpriced and are not anything special except they are thicker than a usual donut size. Same with their ham and cheese croissant which has the same quality as other donut shops. Just not an affordable place to frequently visit since you can buy the same stuff on other places that probably taste better and are half the price. I don't mind paying a lot but I prefer getting my money's worth. They have good parking space in the morn

Yes the hype lives up to it. Buttermilk donut is by far the best donut I've ever had and clearly why people line up at opening for this. Cake donuts are heavy but filled with flavor. Guava filled donut is slightly over sweet but the dough balances that nicely. Secret here is definitely the coffee. Crazy good coffee and would not suspect it.

Yummy donuts ?? and coffee ? for $6, love this place ??

Before going to Primos?s Donuts I looked at the reviews and I was skeptical of the high rating of 5 stars, it is true. Crisp, flackery, dense, full of flavors. The buttermilk was magnificent and will go soon because I want to try the Custard, it had already finished everything and it was only 11:00 in the Morning. I can imagine these Donuts with a very hot coffee, before work, there is no way to go wrong. I recommend it!

All the donuts we purchased tasted excellent. Prices are not low, but what is in LA? Parking was easy behind the building.

Believe me when I tell you this, there is something different about these donuts. They are dense, with a little chew, but in the best way possible. They are not overly sweet like all the other donut shops. These donuts are made with love. All donuts are made fresh every day, so you?ll never get a donut made yesterday. The coffee was fantastic, most donut shop coffee is a little watered down, but they have a light, medium, and a full body roast. Probably some of the best donuts I?ve ever had from a mom and p

I felt like driving around today at a leisurely Sunday pace. Primo's was on my radar so I found my way over there. These are legacy donuts (1956) and are excellent. It is quite far for me to get to their locations but I am glad I stopped by at least once.

Buttermilk is pretty unique. Would get it glazed, it's pretty heavy. Otherwise donuts are good, solid donut shop

Best buttermilk donuts on this side of town. Go early when everything's coming fresh out of the kitchen - the smell is just heavenly! Don't stop at buttermilk though, they have amazing cinnamon rolls, yeasted donuts, croissants and more. Plus there's usually three or four different brews of Stumptown coffee on the side. Service is always warm and friendly, feels family run.

This place has been in business since 1956 by the same loving latino husband and wife. I onced lived in this area over 10 years ago. I banked at the nearby Chase and shopped at the Ralph's and Riteade across the street. However, I never knew about this place. I guess I just wasnt a donut kinda girl then. Especially coming from TX were Shipley's Donuts still reign suprem. I was recently introduce to this little corner nugget by a co-worker. I decided to go and see what the hoopla. When I entered I was instan

As a donut connoisseur, this donut shop has been a family favorite for generations! When I?m in the neighborhood, it?s hard not to stop by for 1 or 2 donuts. You can tell that the family truly cares about the products they make daily.

It's a really cute and charming shop filled with a variety of freshly baked donuts. We usually judge a doughnut shop by their glaze, so naturally, my boyfriend and I gravitated to those. We were planning on grabbing a doughnut each, but after speaking with the owner Ralph, we actually ended up going home with a box of 8 (2 of which were on the house). Ralph was super friendly and made a simple doughnut run into an awesome experience. He gave us a little background about the history of the shop and guide

They live up to their claim of being the best donuts in LA, definitely check this place out, their excellent donuts are matched by their excellent service. If you are there on a Friday be sure to check out a blueberry fritter.

Absolutely love Primos! We lived right around the corner from them for years and we had a ritual of getting them every weekend. We recently moved up north of the Valley so I don't get to stop every weekend but any time I am near Primos or getting people from the airport, I make a stop. Buttermilk bars are to die for and I haven't found a better croissant since I was in Paris. They really are the best.

SOLID neighborhood doughnut institution. A really small store front, so we almost missed it, but there is ample parking in the back! We opted for the classic glaze and it did not disappoint. Pro-tip: definitely go earlier to have the whole selection, because once they?re gone, they do not make more.

The best donuts in all of LA. I know their buttermilk bar is their signature donut, and it's great! But my favorite is their basic glazed twist donut. Their sugar glaze is just perfect, and the donut texture is kinda crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Not the cheapest donuts, but definitely some of the best!

Very delicious donuts. Love the buttermilk. Staple of the community. I don't see the elderly owners during this Covid time but I hope they are alright.

Primo?s is the real deal. The buttermilk bars ignite your palette. The pillowy interior contrasts the crispy exterior. They also exclusively serve Stumptown coffee for a perfect pairing. We met Primo and loved his story of opening the shop. Easy parking. Payment is easy with Apple Pay. Line always moves quickly.

Best donuts in LA! Fresh baked, you can smell them in the morning before you even get into the shop. Once you do, the hype is immediately understandable. Everything here is amazing!

A testament to good food served by good people. They even served us fresh warm donuts just because they came up right then!

Best donuts on the west side imo. I moved yo5 LA from the Bay Are,a and I was looking for a place to replace my trusty Colonial Donuts. Primos staff is super friendly; whether in person, or over the phone to correct ubeareats orders, they have always been amazing. Here is to many more years for this business.

All i will say is The Glazed Buttermilk!!!

Wrong Hours - Considering that store hours might change on Veterans Day I decided to call early on the morning to ask what time they will be closing today. A gentlemen that answered the phone informed me that they would be closing at 1:00 PM due to Veterans day. I drove all the way from Anaheim on my day off just to make it on time for this famous donuts just to find out completely CLOSED at 12:25PM. The whole point of me calling was to save myself the gas and time of driving all they way thru traffic...I

fancy donut with sprinkles: 5/5 (fluffy, light, sweet) - crumb: 4/5 - maui with nutella: 3/5 - maui with pumpkin: 2/5

Primo doughnuts Blueberry, cake doughnut but was not dry and had a nice blueberry frosting Pumpkin, this was like eating not pumpkin bread but a pumpkin cake Churro, was a cross better a cake doughnut and a churro. Had a nice simple taste but nothing Uber wow Old fashioned, had an odd shape but was a typical old fashioned, just lacking the chrispy edges Butterfly cinnamon roll, i.e. cinnamon roll on its side Long john, chocolate bar All where more most then an average doughnut but not overly so and all did

Last working today was super nice! Great donuts as always!

Loved the cinnamons roll at my favorite Donut place on Sawtelle. It was freshly baked so few lucky ones to taste it feesh off the oven o #Donuts #coffee #croissants #espresso #donutshop #bakery @primodonut

I was so excited when I got there because I've been wanting to go there for a while until finally I was able to go to CA but when I went inside after waiting for 15 minutes outside practicing social distancing I come to the surprise that the guy in the back who is preparing the dough or doughnuts is not wearing a mouth cover and they have a sign on the door saying you can't go in if you're not wearing a mask Lol and when I mentioned this to the cashier, how can this be possible were they are making us wear

I love their vegan donuts, both yeast/risen and cake. Blueberry is an especially great flavor. They also regularly have vanilla, cherry, cinnamon, glazed. Can?t go wrong. Vegan donuts only available on the weekend. Employees are friendly and quick and parking is easy with a free lot.

I've been driving by this place for years and never stopped by. I finally decided to give it a try I had a glazed and glazed buttermilk donut which both were very good. Limited parking on the street and parking available in the rear. Very friendly staff.

This is exactly what you want a donut shop to be. Mom and pop shop on its 3rd generation. Friendly service. Good prices. GREAT donuts. Surprisingly good coffee. Would have taken a photo but I ate them too quick. Delicious! Will be back

Delicious donuts and friendly advice! Their buttermilk biscuits are amazing.

Best apple fritter I've ever had. Crunchy yet soft and full of apples. Other donuts also solid.

An underwhelming experience, especially for the high price point. I ordered and picked up a dozen fancy donuts and they were underwhelming.

I go here whenever in LA. The donuts are such a treat.

The best buttermilk bars you?ll eat probably. The other donuts are good, though it?s the buttermilk bar that?s truly special. Crispy exterior but soft interior with little pockets of moist goodness. It?s the rare food item where you try it and immediately go ?you know what, this might be the best version of this thing I?ve ever tasted?. Not open late but I?ve always gone during mid day and it hasn?t been too busy.

Expensive for Donuts. Hope the workers are getting paid decent at least

I love this place! It feels very classic. I go weekly for their amazing buttery croissant. I?m also in love with the frosted cinnamon roll. The ladies are always super nice!

Buttermilk minis are fun for the whole office!

Joclyn had the best customer service with answers to my queries on varieties of donuts . The chocolate custard ?? was delicious ?? It wasnt sweet like was expecting .It contains 310 calories so good way to start morning #Donuts #coffee #croissants #espresso #donutshop #bakery #ad #thumzup @primosdonutsla #Donuts #coffee #croissants #espresso #donutshop #bakery #ad #thumzup @primosdonutsla

Small mom and pop shop. Seemed like small selection. Buttermilk bars okay here

The donuts are amazing! When you walk in, the place doesn?t look like much. Wonderful donuts. Came back once again on 9/9/22, and I must say, this place is #1 on my list. The donuts are thick, huge in size while still favorable! This place is a hidden gem for sure! Wish I lived here, this would be my location every day!!! Customer service is also excellent! She really took her time describing all the donuts. Never rushed us at all! Thank you again for making this experience great once again

Stopped on the way to drive back up to San Francisco and got here when they opened. Friendly staff who helped me and recommended the fresh new sourdough donuts! I had the chocolate one and a regular glazed that were perfectly hot. Super fantastic spot, I would definitely return!

Freaking ?? are delicious. Good prices, good variety. Everything is from the same day, last day tops. Just go and try it yourself.

Went there cause they are ranked best donut in LA by so many food YouTube channels! Never liked donut but these are indeed some goodness!!! The level of sweetness pairs perfectly with coffee and overall not too oily. The cinnamon roll wasn?t the best I?ve had but all the other donuts were amazing.

Best donuts in LA. Although if you?re looking for a Krispy Kreme-style donut (90% air/10% dough) this is not your place. Their specialty is the buttermilk cake-style donut which will knock your socks off. The blueberry buttermilk and cinnamon roll donuts are also top tier.

Buttermilk donuts are must try if you are ever nearby. Definitely top place to go for donuts

Some of the best donuts I've ever had. The buttermilk donuts are truly fantastic, and the cinnamon butterfly is close behind. Had some of the twists which were also terrific. Other varieties are very good, but stick with their specialities to really get your mind blown. Super friendly service, rarely busy, and fair prices make this place a west side gem.

Some of the best donuts in town. My benchmarks are typically chocolate old fashioneds and apple fritters. Both are excellent and so are the rest of their other donuts. Their online ordering process is painless. The staff is incredible and ultra helpful. I have not been disappointed as of yet. They truly are an LA treasure.

All of the donuts were amazing but the first bite of the glazed was the best bite of a donut I?ve ever had.

Liked their top selling Buttermilk and Cinnamon donuts.

$43.55... Is that right? I feel like we got double charged. We got 3 of those "butterfly cinnamon rolls", one of the cinnamon rolls with chocolate on top, 1 jelly, 1 chocolate (classic circle), 1 glazed (classic circle), 6 glazed donut holes, 5 cinnamon sugar donut hole, 4 chocolate top donut holes. We were in a rush and didn't stare at the price list, but even if the cinnamon rolls were "premium" at let's say $5 each and the jelly filled also $5... (Which seems overpriced) $43.55 seems more than excessi

I went here because I saw a food video that raved about the buttermilk donuts. We went around noon to get donuts and there were only a few buttermilk left, understandably. I got one and a few other types of donuts. I couldn?t wait to heat it up at home and eat it. So I ate it cold. It was still good but I wish I would have heated it up. It probably would have been 100x better. My suggestion: go for the buttermilk only if you are just going to see what the rave is about and if they are cold wait to eat them

Came to Primo's over the July 4th weekend. By far the BEST donuts I've ever had in my life!!!! They weren't super sweet, the texture was soft and moist. I HIGHLY recommend stopping by if you're ever in LA. Henry was amazing! He had great customer service skills, was friendly and funny too. I'll come back if I'm ever in town!

Best donuts in the world . Theme style donuts most imaginative, LA DODGERS for example . Simply the best . Wonderful family run business, big part of W.L.A. True treasure . Thanks ALL SO MUCH !!

Literally my favorite donut shop in the west side! Make sure to get the ham and cheese croissant, they ask if you want to heat it up... Do it! It's warm and buttery goodness which gooey cheese, this is the main reason I go to this place. Also if you go early in the morning the donuts are fresh, warm and soft. It's better to go earlier because there is a line most of the time

Two words, BUTTERMILK BAR. Delicious donuts, not too sweet.

I have been going there for the past 15 years or so, although just once in a while, since I am pretty health-conscious. If people like me who do not particularly care for sweets, must go for donuts, Primo is the place. Their stuff is seriously good. People are very nice. The service is good. And there is a plenty of parking in the back. My recommendation is plain ones like cake donuts, twists, and buttermilk, but I am sure everything is delicious. Definitely the best donut shop in West LA.

Primos has the very best buttermilk donuts. They're a must try!

?? are too expensive I was charged $10 dollars for 3 Bacon dounuts! I could have had a double cheeseburger fries and coke at IN N OUT BURGERS for $7.50??

I went in looking for a donut with bacon on it. They had one and it was so fresh. I couldn't ait to get home.

Has become pretty average. Prices have gone up to almost Sidecar levels. On a Saturday morning they're sold out of most donuts... at 9:15am!!!! Why are you even open then? Time to find something new. Shame really, loved it before.

Several videos on YouTube recommended that I come here.. I can't believe on all those videos no one ever talked about the cherry glazed donut!!!!!! The cherry glazed donut is the best donut I've ever had in my life! The lady who helped me was extremely kind and friendly.

I don't even know what to say. The donuts are so good. Thankfully my house nor my work are anywhere near this place. Otherwise I would go every day. The buttermilk bar has to be my favorite, I don't even know if that's the correct name. And they serve good coffee as well.

Alright! Been hearing and seeing the reviews that Promo?s Donuts are the best in Los Angeles. Small store front with plenty of parking in back. Twice the cost for a normal dozen of donuts. Maybe it?s the Westside of town and the donuts look yummy. I?ll let the family decide when I take them home to the Valley.

I walked in this morning expecting to order two dozen freshly baked blueberry buttermilk bars but my dreams were shattered when it was revealed to me that the shop would not be making blueberry buttermilk bars this weekend because they were ?too busy with online holiday orders?. If Mr. And Mrs. Primo were there, those blueberry buttermilk bars would be stacked to the ceiling. I?m going to try again tomorrow with the hopes that the shop thought better of their decision and will be making their weekend specia

Locally owned donut shop in West LA. Donuts are great, the employees there are nice, and it?s a small but cozy donut shop. Would go there if wanting to support a locally owned business

Primo's makes the best donuts. I love a classic glazed raised donut, but I would say the maple long johns are my favorite--pillowy, warm and sweet. The only challenge is like most bakeries, they close pretty early, but the upside and tip: if you arrive close to closing time, they are so kind an give you an extra donut for free.

Delicious donuts! The crispy buttermilk donuts they're known for are really good, and so are the regular frosted one! I got a blueberry frosted donut and it was delicious! The dough is so soft! Also really nice cashier and staff!

Shockingly bad customer service by the tattooed and pierced woman at the counter. Immediately starts demanding to know how many donuts I'll purchase. I guess I was picking too slowly for her because then, as I'm choosing my selections, she starts making what she thinks are invisible gestures to her coworker in an attempt to mock me. I know she didn't think I noticed, but I did. Impatient and rude service for the first time in many many years that I've been going to this shop.

It's a decent donut place, with good donuts that are better than your local corner donut shop. However this is not some crazy good donut shop or one of those more unique donut shops with creative flavors. But as a standard donut shop with good pricing unlike the more expensive specialty shops, it's hard to beat this place for getting a couple dozen donuts.

I've had the best donuts of my life at Primo's. Their old fashioned donut is my favorite. One time I saved a donut from Primo's to eat later in the day. I forgot about my donut and ate it the following day. It was still moist. It tasted as if it had just been baked that morning.

I love these donuts, but the service is so bad! I always feel uncomfortable here. They awkwardly stare at you while you order, then it seems like you're bothering them when you ask questions. They are also usually out of everyone's favorite donuts and you're left to choose between weird flavors nobody else wanted. Get there early for the best selection.

Not really the best in Los Angeles but very good. I don't believe these donuts are worth twice the amount that other donut shops are selling great tasting donuts for. $1.10 for a glazed donut is just too much, despite how cute the 90 year old behind the counter is.

I just found out about this place through a bunch of online lists and decided to check it out. Primo's Donuts is a small shop on Sawtelle & National. AND There's parking behind the store! Definitely worth finding this place to try out their famous buttermilk bar! The other donuts we had were pretty good too, but the buttermilk one was definitely their standout. It's like a combination of a rich buttermilk biscuit + lightness of a glazed donut. What a combination!

Gluten Free donuts are back!! At <$3 each, they feel like a steal, and taste great! There were 4 flavors this morning and some were Valentine's day themed.

The donuts are fantastic! The store set up is a little meh. They may not be interior designers but its clean and their donuts are so soft and so delicious.. Also they have lots of coffee options. Thats nice.

There are thousands of donut shops in LA, and this one claims to have the best donuts in town. I do have to say however, that the donuts I picked up at Primos were pretty exceptional. And the coffee was good as well. Recommended!

Don't get there late, they are gone fast!

My family and I came here because of my daughter's excitement to try the highly rate Primo's Donuts. I was excited to try the cinnamon roll. To say the least I walked out with nothing. Before we stepped in (with masked) the female employee aggressively asked us to wait outside. My family and I understand what's going on and the need for social distancing it's just her abrasive tone that made our experience unpleasant. I'm not interested in trying anything from this establishment after that experience.

Best chocolate bars! Discovered this wonderful place 15 years ago when we moved into the general area. We now live out of state, but come in for a dozen nearly every time we make it back to the West side of L.A. The owners are great people too.
