Plaza Donuts

This is a donut shop I used to go to as a kid. It's still here well into my early 30's. It should speak volumes of the amazing doughnuts they have here. The Vietnamese iced coffee is my go to. The croissant sandwich is a great choice, and they have lots of flavors for ice cream as well! Must try if you see this place.

Today we experienced Plaza Donuts fir the first time and love this. The ladies working are so nice and friendly, I think we would come back just for them. Their donut cases at the counter are fully stocked with beautiful donuts and croissants. We ordered a ham, egg and cheese on croissant and a ham bacon egg and cheese on croissant. Definitely my to go spot for a good donut and ice cream cone, the ice cream texture reminded me of my childhood when the ice cream truck will drive by my street, literally taste the same. The waffle cone and ice cream scoops are a fair size which I prefer personally over the giant waffle cones with huge scoops in other ice cream shops. My go-to donut place; I've tried multiple donut places and this has been my favorite so far. Always so fluffy and flavors are a hit. Roughly $2/donut, or $22-24 dollars for a baker's dozen.

We bought $3 Donut Holes, to our surprise when opening the bag there was a BIG Flea sitting with the donut holes, When my husband went to go get a refund/exchange they refused and said that it was my Husband fault that the Flea was in the bag. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

First time going to this donuts place and I got to say it?s worth it. Donuts were delicious and the service 10/10, they gave us one free donut.. I definitely recommend it !!

Sometimes I go five times a week, sometimes I go once a week. There are only a few working behind the counter in the morning. The owner who in my opinion is just a witch, uptight, no sense of humor and rigid not a person to be behind the counter serving customers. Plaza Donuts is a solid mainstay in the South Bay. The donuts are always fresh and it's always nice to have an option to have a breakfast sandwich as well! The people that work here are always friendly and courteous! Overall great donuts. Eat up!!

My 88 year old Mom who lives @ Fredericka was craving donuts. So I went to Yelp and was presented with various donut shops with varying reviews. Landed on Plaza and am definitely a fan. Sweet older couple behind the counter, LOTS of fresh donuts at 9AM and 11 bucks for a bakers dozen. The donuts were super fresh and really delicious. The cake donuts were even airy and not too dense.

I came in the day prior to make an order of 2 1/2 dozen mixed donuts for my class. The gentleman that took care of me was very nice and the donuts were fresh! Highly recommend the donuts were amazingly delicious and addictive!

Wow! Quite possibly the BEST sugar donut I have had in my life. Only wanted to have a half and ended up eating all of it. The glaze was very good too. They were very fresh. I plan on returning hoping the are just as fresh because they were really good! Worth the visit!

The chocolate glazed old fashioned donut is tender, moist, and delicious with just the right amount of crunch. The service was fast but friendly. You get a dozen plus two free donuts. I paid $18.50 cash. I think there is a charge to use credit. Left a tip in the jar for good service once she taped up the box. Got home and saw that she added three glazed donut holes.

Was visiting from out of town and stopped here on the way back home. These donuts were so good and I thought the prices were even better. My friends and I were very satisfied with the whole experience. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again and recommend this place to others.

Expensive as h***!!! $19 for 12 donuts and then if you get another donut that is not on there doesn't dozen donut list they charge you extra money and don't tell u. Plus they say you get 2 donuts free but its not free its actually more. I asked for the maple donut with bacon they didnt tell me and went ahead and an extra dollar. Their donuts aren't that good? You can get a dozen donuts the sames taste at Sunny donuts down the street for $14 & better service. They don't charge you extra for any other donut!!

Donuts are delicious at a great price! A dozen is actually 14 donuts. I really recommend this place. Coffee is also great. Being eating their donuts since i was a kid. Staff is also friendly, always following their dads legacy. Update: donuts are still great and coffee is very good!! I just went there again last night, I moved away from sd, but when I go back to visit, I make sure I stop here. It's fun to tell my kids that my dad used to bring me here when I was also a kid.

I've been coming here for over 10 years. Not often because it's a rare treat to get a doughnut or ice cream but often enough. The kindest staff in this family owned and operated shop. They have Thrifty ice cream by the scoop! The make a ridiculously good pastry cream filled doughnut that is a must try if your lucky enough to find it, It's not too sweet and very light. My boyfriend always gets the croissant breakfast sandwich and he's pretty pleased with it. I want to try the pistachio cream shake next time.

I was very pleased to see enhanced measures in place due to the current pandemic at a recent visit. Something that maybe others wont notice, is when you are served your donuts, they use one set of gloves. Then when it is time to charge you, they use a new set of gloves. Whomever is working behind the counter is friendly and helpful, and more often than not I walk out with and extra donut, or two, that they just threw in there. What's not to like about free donuts!! Great apple Fritters! Customer service was really good by the female owner. I was there for the fritters but she offered complimentary holes, and they literally melted in my mouth. Although it wasn?t on the menu, she was willing to experiment and made a great coffee flavored ice cream shake.

On May 31, I was given a donut in celebration of "Donut Day." It had been many, many years since I had had a donut. I enjoy it so much, that I inquired about the place where it had come from? Was told, & guess what, we drove all the way to National City, Highland Ave., & 16th St., from North Clairemont! We're so please, we'll definitely go back in the near future. On a search for donuts for the last 3 months the last 3 doughnut shops I've been to in the National City area have been stale and tasteless. I finally resorted to yelp which brought me here. I give this place 5 stars for 2 reasons. The fast and friendly service and for the quality of the doughnut. They were nice and fluffy and very delicious. As for the guy that helped me, he was very playful and shared my sense of humor. For $9 I received the Bakers Dozen aka 14 donuts in which I only selected 13 donuts

Was visiting San Diego during fleet week and while staying at the Howard Johnson in National City I got tired of hittin the Jack in the Box drive thru at 5:00am, so while searching for something different I dropped in at this place and I was so blown away at the croissants that I ate one in the store and ordered 5 more for the family.
