Probably one of the best and most affordable breakfast spots on the island. You can get delicious food without breaking the bank. We went twice, and there was always a long line outside, but the service was fast, and the staff were super nice. They have outdoor seating and a bathroom. We tried the malasadas, Mexican and turkey sandwiches, and both were very delicious. It's definitely one of my favorite places on the island.
This little gem of a place!! Wow The people friendly, busy !! So busy which you know is a good thing. Everything we had so so good.. MoHo Local my son was the best in Kauai, the donuts!! Omg heavenly puffy and filling amazing. If u in Kauai you loss for not stopping by.
Passion Bakery Cafe is very welcoming and the team members are super friendly. There are many options for breakfast and pastries. We ordered The Hawaiian Breakfast Sandwich, Pineapple French Toast, and a Mac Nut Latte. We also got Turkey Pasto Ma Nut Puff Pastry, Macadamia Nut White Chocolate Cookie, Banana Bread, and a Cinnamon Sugar Coated Ube Malasadas. They are all super delicious.
Passion Bakery is one of the best breakfast spots in Kauai. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, the smoothies were so fresh, and the malasadas were absolutely incredible. The lychee flavor was my favorite - the filing tasted like cotton candy. The service was a little slow, but understandably so, since the bakery is quite popular!
The Passion Bakery Cafe had amazing malassada in many different flavors. We loved experimenting tasting each one. We also tried every kind of sticky bun. We loved these so much we returned a second day to enjoy the treats before we left Kauai. The atmosphere and service was fun and we loved it.
They have amazing baked goods here, the speciality is malasadas. They have so many different types of filling for them, and the dough or is crunchy sweet and delicious. Almost comparable to Leonard?s malasadas. They also serve great breakfast and lunches with Glen free options.
Great spot for morning coffee and breakfast sandwiches provided you go early in the morning. The aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air, making the bakery smell absolutely delicious. This place is quite busy and the food takes about 20-30 mins to arrive. We ordered mango malasadas, mango bread and the hawaiian breakfast sandwich with sourdough bread. Malasadas and sandwich were fresh and tasted delicious - highly recommended. Mango bread was decent.
Be sure to stop here if you're staying in Kapa'a! The line gets long quickly but moves fast and the staff is super pleasant. No trip to Kauai is complete without a POG malasadas. Literally the perfect donut! We returned 3 times during our trip. No shame :)
Cafe that can satisfy your sweet tooth with delicious pastries. Try their Malasadas, apple turnover, and cookies. Plan to stop by 7:30 am, the lines were forming by 8 am. They close by noon.
Malasadas were warm, fresh filled, and delivered to our table outside even! The employees were very friendly. Easy parking (free lot). Lots of hungry chickens waiting to take your food if you give them a chance
The place has the best malasadas that we found on the island during our week long stay! We tried almost all of the different flavors and each one was better than the last key lime was a favorite, as well as the espresso and pog. Just be aware that the malasadas are only served on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The breakfast sandwich?s are awesome as well. Huge servings and delicious! And all of the staff are so joyful! Love the atmosphere! We hope to return to Kauai someday and this will be on
We came at 9:30am on a Saturday morning and most of their specialty pastries were gone. We got malasadas which were all delicious! The filling is pretty runny so prepare for mess!
Made to order Malasadas. So so good. That's what we went for but everything else looked yummy.
The malasadas were perfect, so light & fluffy. Eat them fresh & warm! I loved the coconut filling with cinnamon sugar.
Cute place with delicious food! We loved the panioli breakfast sandwich, and guava French toast with coconut syrup!
They serve Malasadas every day now!* Friendly staff and quick service. Saw reviews saying it took forever, so we came around 7:30 and didn't have to wait long. They are made to order, not your typical donut shop. The early bird gets the worm, don't complain if you sleep in and come when it's busy. ?? Ordered the vanilla bean malasada and the coconut. Vanilla was my favorite! Vanilla had more filling with a sweeter flavor while the coconut was less and more subtle. Would definitely come back!
Enjoyed the Malasada and my espresso but couldn?t order a breakfast sandwich because after 20 minutes in line found out the wait for an egg sandwich was half an hour. Definitely try to call ahead! My buzzer went off so I went inside to grab my food and coffee and an older woman (owner maybe?) was pretty rude about me having to wait outside.
our jalape?o popper egg breakfast sandwiches were really good! the employees are really nice, especially napua!! she?s super sweet and let us know that we could have some bakery items for free since they were wrapping up for the day. you can definitely tell that these ladies do a good job and care about their customers here. thanks guys !!! & thank you napua!!
The malasadas, specifically the POG flavor, are to die for! The egg sandwiches and loco moco were also delicious. You really can?t go wrong. It was our favorite breakfast we had during our week on Kauai! I wish I could eat the malasadas every day!
Extremely slow service. Case was mostly empty by 10:30am and there was no coffee available. Took over 15 min to brew a new pot - a bakery cafe should plan to have coffee and baked goods available in the morning? Additionally, the staff member yelled at the guests in line that this is not ?fast food? and we should all ?expect to wait?? not very hospitable or welcoming - we had not even finished ordering our food. Unfortunate.
Such an incredible restaurant. Make sure you get there early to get the full layout of pastries. The guy that was running the front counter was really nice and engaging and their way of picking up food was great.
Passion Bakery Cafe was walking distance from where my husband and I were staying during our Kauai holiday vacation, so we ended up going there a few times over the week. There were so many malasada flavours to try so we'd pick a few different ones to share each visit - POG was definitely a favourite! Timing seems key here as there was always a line when we went - sometimes the line was shorter and sometimes longer. That being said, most people seemed to order to-go, so we never had trouble finding a seat
Wonderful little place with great food. Have to get the malasadas (filled donuts). We had the POG, Vanilla Bean, Key Lime and Apple Cinnamon. All were wonderful!
We stopped here for breakfast, but the malasadas were the hit of the meal. The wait can be long as it is a popular place, but it was well worth it. It was my most enjoyable breakfast while in Kauai.
#1 Recommendation is Get There Early! We tried 3 times to make it to the bakery. Due to limited work force, the hours of the bakery fluctuate. Malasadas are only sold on certain days, and they often sell out. 1st attempt, they just closed at noon. 2nd attempt, no hot food (bakery items only). I bought 2 cinnamon sugar malasadas and an Americano coffee to go. DELICIOUS! 3rd attempt, success! Bought basic breakfast sandwich and chorizo and egg with potato sandwich. Plus 2 lilliko filled malasadas. Sandwic
We got malasadas and coffees here, arrived around 8:45am. The malasadas are made to order so they were nice and hot, very good. They're more expensive here than other places but they are super fresh and there are so many flavor options, I'm really glad we spent the extra money here for our first time having them. We tried 2 of the coconut, one chocolate, and one POG (passion fruit, orange, guava). The POG was my husband's favorite, he really liked the flavor. The coconut was my favorite. The coconut cream w
It took them 30+ minutes to make a the Mexicana breakfast sandwich to go. It is listed on their menu as one of their best sellers so it was crazy it took that long to make. Also the a?a? bowl hardly had any a?a? in it. It wasn?t the purple color that a?a? bowl should be, it tasted mostly like mixed berry. Also they did not have their normal to go bowls so they put it is a cup, which was not ideal for eating a?a? and seemed like a smaller amount that a typical a?a? bowl. It wasn?t ridiculous to pay $15 for t
Saw a long line and had to investigate. Well worth the wait! Didn?t get to try malasadas, but we?ll be back for those. Macadamia sticky bun topping was amazing. All the pastry dough texture was flaky and delicious. Mango filled hand pie was my favorite.
Was on the hunt for malasadas today after landing in Kauai. Found them! Passion bakery and cafe had them and they were made fresh to order for us! Delicious! We will be back. Check their website to see what days they are available.
The food here is really good, but MY WORD, the wait! We hung in there for closer to an hour for a Loco Moco and some french toast. Granted, it was really good. But we won?t come back. The seating is nice, outside with plenty of shade. But in general, I wouldn?t recommend coming here.
Cute little island bakery with a large selection of cream filled malasadas as well as other pastries and sandwiches. We only tried the malasadas and they were delicious especially when warm. Get there early as there seemed to be a line every morning when they opened.
What a gem! This place has hearty breakfast sandwiches and tasty malasadas. The lady bringing out malasadas was so sweet. She even provided an extra one for us free of charge. Thank you! One tip is to get here early if you can. When we arrived shortly after 7 AM, there was already a line!
Worst experience ever. We went there and expected great things due to its review. We paid for a coffee and 2 sandwiches. The coffee was empty and they had to make it. We waited over 30+ minutes and they still had 1 order in front of us. There are other people who also waited 30 mins+ and they were behind us. The older lady who worked there was rude and told everybody to wait outside and ?that?s why we give you a beeper.? We finally asked for a refund because our food wasn?t made and we had to go to an appoi
This place was delicious! We ordered a Chorizo sandwich and an a?a? bowl and both were fantastic. Looking forward to having this mango hand pie for a snack later. The food came out really quickly (note we were here on a Wednesday morning) and the staff was really friendly with some great recommendations. Would definitely come back here again if our stay were longer!
Staff was incredibly kind, restaurant was well kept and clean. We ordered the sticky buns with macadamia nut topping. Literally the best ever!!!
Come here specifically for malasada. It is only offered tues, Thurs, Saturdays. The popular flavors go fast. We arrived 10:30, popular flavors are gone. I don?t really like matcha, it has some sour taste. The cookies and cream is better, it is just too sweet for me.
Loved this place, food, and staff. We were welcomed with great customer service. The staff were all happy and singing, despite the busy breakfast rush. We ordered the iced chai latte (best one ive had!), "the bomb" rice omelet (huge portion that fed 3 of us!), and 6 malasada donuts (espresso was my personal favorite, however, others loved the POG and coconut ones). Definitely recommend this place. ???? ??
Malasadas were fresh and coffee was good, but not the best I?ve ever had. There was an after taste that tasted like they were using old oil for the malasadas. I might give them a try on another day to see if it was just a fluke.
Food was amazing! The best malasadas I?ve ever had!
Greatt vibes in this family spot! I see why the reviews are high with a chef who?s back there singing her heart out, aunty calling out orders for everyone and these hot creamy donuts being pumped out along with some great food. My breakfast sandwich (The Hawaiian) was a great way to start the day along with the key lime malasada! My friend got the bacon puff and a chai hand pie and loved that as well. Come support
If you're looking for a quality Hawaiian breakfast and baked goods, this spot is a must. It can get busy around 830am but the staff serves everyone super quickly. We enjoyed a Paniolo breakfast sandwich, a HUGE loco moco and a lychee filled Malasada made fresh to order.
I was on the island for a week and came for breakfast 4 times. The workers are all super nice and friendly and their egg sandwiches are amazing!! we also got their malasadas on thursday and got to try 6 different flavors since they have such a variety- all were delicious. I do recommend getting there as close to when they open as possible (especially on the days they do their malasadas) as the wait gets longer the later you go. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an easy yet filling br
Tasty! Stopped by on a Saturday morning around 9am on our way to the airport. I?d read about there potentially being long lines, but thankfully there were only three other people in front of me when I arrived. There?s a nice selection of cookies, scones, various other pastries and of course malasadas. They were pretty good and very fresh. My personal preference is more filling, but still glad I got to try them!
Wow what a treat! I?m glad we were close and it was open. Hands down the best malasadas I?ve ever tasted. And that?s not they have great wonderful treats and brunch/lunch menu. The staff is super nice and so accommodating. I asked them if they had half loaf of bread since we are leaving the town and won?t be able to eat the whole loaf- they were able to pack one for me! Seriously the best people ever! Thank you so much and hope to eat again here soon! Mahalo!
Get there early, cuz they run out of pastries fast! We were there at 9 AM and many items were already sold out. Pastries were delicious and ranged from bite-size ones for $2.50 to $5 for a bear claw. The Chorizo Potato Egg Sandwich was spicy and delicious! Super friendly staff!
The best. We went here 3 times on our 6 day vacation. Service, food and coffee quality are 15/10. Food is fresh made to order and the coffee is strong and delicious. Service is impeccable, everyone is so sweet and I love that they're singing their little hearts out. You know everything is made with love. We really love the Mexicano breakfast sandwich. Chorizo, potatoes, egg and cheese on fluffy brioche. Big, filling portions too. Get it with the aioli! YUM. Malasada days... Yes. Just yes. We went a bit be
Nice little shop with a decent selection of pastries and breakfast items. The mac nut stick buns were great and even better when they warmed them up before serving them. We also got a coconut scone type thing. Can?t exactly remember what it was other than delicious. Employees were friendly and helpful. Seating options available inside and outside.
Asking nicely where your sandwich is after 30 minutes when everyone around you has gotten served isn?t a crime, is it? Manager seemed more interested in flirting than figuring out what his staff was doing. Bummer.
I passed by here while on a run and saw a line out the door, so decided we must try it! It was worth the wait. They serve Malasadas on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday. We wanted to put in am order, but there was an hour wait, for which we did not have time today. We instead ordered a variety or goodies. Everything was delicious. The breads were flaky and the fillings flavorful. We will call ahead to malasadas this Saturday to try. Today we ended up with jalapeno cheese pastry, guava puff, mango hand pie, Turkey
Ordered ahead online which was easy. Pick up was first thing in the morning but there was a line already. Worth the wait. Everything was cooked fresh.
If you?re near Wailua, run to Passion Bakery. The loco moco was insanely phenomenal ? rich, savory, and comforting in all the right ways. The beef was charred and fresh tasting. The gravy....oh the GRAVY. Their POG malasadas are airy, dreamy bites of island sunshine, and their breakfast egg sandwiches? Massive and unforgettable. My family and I loved this spot. And we didn't actually wait long at all? Maybe the secret is to go around 11am.
One of the best malasadas on the island. Soft, fluffy, not greasy. Filling is delicious. We love POG and vanilla. This last time had a little too much sugar and they forgot our filling :( They are always pretty busy so be patient and know what you want when you get to the counter. They?re all working their butts off! Malasadas only three days a week so prepare accordingly if you?re only on island for a short time.
This was place was walking distance from our hotel. Cute little spot behind the gas station. Great customer service. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly. They have plenty of options to choose from. Anywhere from breakfast and lunch plates to muffins and sandwiches to cookies and coffee. We ordered two mini loco moco's and a guava muffin. The mini loco moco was not so mini. It came with 2 scoops of rice, one delicious burger patty, egg and mac salad. I ca
We went around 9:40 a.m. on Friday. Many items were gone, and the shelves were almost empty. The food tasted okay, but it took some time
The best malasadas on the island. Made fresh to order and you can fill them with delicious. Super friendly helpful people work there.
This was our first breakfast spot on our trip and it was amazing. Just the smells coming out the bakery was enough to make your mouth water. Amazing sandwiches, great portions and wonderful and friendly staff! 10/10 would recommend.
Food was ok at best, bad coffee and cold chai. Very expensive for it's quality ($11 smoothie!?!?). Chai and coffee were thrown away. Malasadas were good .
We had a Malasada, acai bowl, coffee, and "the bomb" omlette at Passion Bakery. Malasada was excellent, fresh and super yummy. Coffee from kauai coffee Co was good, standard fare and cheap! Acai bowl was so yummy, a little cold but to be expected as it's noted it's a frozen berry base. Omlette was the star, not only was it terrific, you could probably share 1 for 2 people's breakfast it's so big. Place was hopping busy so a bit slow but definitely a good choice for breakfast if you're staying in the area. A
Pastries pretty good, but customer service terrible , The bakery is stuffy and lacks ventilation; there is no exhaust system, which creates unfavorable conditions for staying in it. If you?re sitting outside waiting for your order, after possibly half an hour of waiting ? no less ? a lady will come out holding the food and shout your order. You wave or raise your hand in response, but she won?t even come to your table. She?ll just point at the lunch box and gesture like, ?Get up and get it yourself!? Why d
My wife and I discovered this bakery during our last trip in Kauai at Aston Islander on the Beach and we've been talking about how badly we want to go back to get the Malasadas (pictured) AND WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK. I was honestly a little worried that we'd overhyped it in our heads over the two years but nope, it was just as good as we remembered if not better. The non-malasada items are great too, I recommend their macadamia* cookies, the POG muffin, the guava pastry, and the breakfast sandwiches if you'
I loved the food, service and the atmosphere. I had the greek eggwich, and the egg was so fluffy! The only thing that I wasn't fully satisfied of was the price because the sandwich was a pretty small size for pricing over $12. But overall, super worth it and tastes great!
I don't have a basis for comparison because this is the first time I've ever had kalua pork, but the kalua pork breakfast locomoco has been the best thing I've had on the island in the past 6 days! I live in the southwest so shredded pork just makes me think of carnitas so I haven't been too quick to try it, but itsmuch different and super delicious! Had a consistently good experience coming back to this spot on the island, best food!
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays you can get the absolute best malasadas in the entire state of Hawaii here. Yes there is a line, get there early or just wait it out. And yes, get more than you think you want/need because then you won't have the regrets when you've finished and realize you shouldn't wait in the giant line again!
The food is fabulous ?? The pastries are the best?? The lines were pretty long but well worth the wait. The house coffee is a must. Bring your appetite and Aloha spirit to enjoy the outside eating with the Rooster and friends.
Go early on the days they have malasadas and thank me later! Our absolute favorite was the ube. The coconut was second. Nutella was not as exciting as we had hoped, but it?s still sugary fried dough, so you know. Will go back everything we are in Kauai for certain! The cashier also recommended the coconut latte with macadamia milk, and it was delicious. The breakfast sandwiches weren?t as out of this world, but they did the trick.
Do yourself a favor. Eat here. Just do it. Malasada was amazing. House-made chorizo was out of this world. Edit: We came back to get more Malasadas. The store was expectedly busy. The staff were all busy filling orders. The person taking orders was unbelievably rude. Lost a star for poor customer service.
Absolutely loved this coffee shop! We had breakfast and/or coffee here every day of our trip. Staff was lovely, friendly and helpful. We saw lots of locals coming in as well as people on vacation like us. Favorites: raw cacao mocha (not very sweet and lovely flavor), breakfast sandwich with the chipotle sauce was perfect on the go, and OMG the grilled cheese (the great bread really makes this amazing). They also have gluten free bread options and are great with food allergies.
Small little bakery but a good variety of pastries to choose from. We have the bacon stick bun and the mountain apple hand pie and both were delicious.
Great loco moco and malasadas. it was a bit crowded inside as it seemed popular. malasadas looked so yummy we forgot to take a pic. I was so happy to get some ono grinds.
My favorite bakery out of the several that I have visited. Malasadas are the best on the island I think, just be prepared for a little wait. The jalape?o and egg breakfast sandwich was awesome, especially the brioche bun. The beef hash loco moco is a must.
What a lovely place! Staff incredibly friendly. I got a coconut scone and a pineapple shortbread cookie for breakfast. The scone is absolutely delicious. It is light and fluffy with chunks of coconut inside and toasted coconut shavings on top. Best scone I have ever had, hands down. (Sorry....ate half of it before I shot a photo!). The pineapple shortbread cookie is yummy!! Can?t wait to go again!
Ordered Malasadas 5/5 and veggie sandwich 3/5 with tofu. Their malasadas are must try. Visit this place if you are in area and expect a wait for the food which speaks itself.
We were staying close by and saw signs for malasadas and decided to get some. Went there at 8 am and got lilikoi, mango and vanilla bean. They were delicious! The only thing strange was the mango had a lot of filling vs the other ones. Went back the next day to get feta eggwich, guava puffs. The eggwich was really good and the guava puffs were really good too. On our last morning there, my husband stopped by to pick up a couple of macadamia sticky buns that we brought back home and they are totally worth th
Malasadas are delicious that we came back for them another day! Breakfast is also really good and big portions! Definitely split your meal!
Fantastic bakery: serves everything you need for breakfast and lunch. I had a local breakfast loco Moco, a regular ham and eggs sandwich and of course malasadas with cream. For updates about opening hours and when malasadas are served, check the bakery's front door. Better to allocate some time for waiting: before ordering and after.
I think we had just about everything on the menu! We were staying across the street so malasadas were on our list Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Thanks to Michael for the tour. What a very special spot. Don?t miss it!
We decided to go try some malasadas. We got there at 7:25 and there was probably 20 ppl in line. Line goes pretty fast. We decided to try the chocolate, vanilla, POG, cookies and cream. We got a cheddar an ham croissant it was okay. We got a 2 coffees one latte with macadamia nut & one mocha. Make sure you add the sweetener. The malasadas are amazing warm and filling inside you must try.
I have never had a better fruit smoothie than the one here. Combine that with delicious malasadas, good coffee, and the wonderful staff; this is a must-visit if you?re in the area.
Missing this bakery on a Malasada day would be one of the biggest mistakes on your trip to Kauai. Made to order with a range of mouthwatering fillings. Excellent, friendly service as well!
Be prepared to wait. If you like waiting 20-40 min for a breakfast sandwich, then this place is for you. Sit back, relax, don?t book anything else for the morning. Food?s good.
Great bakery that servers fresh baked pastries. We ate here a couple of times. Tried different pastries each time. Our favorite was the Pecan Sticky Bun! Need to arrive early, they do run out of pastries. Very friendly staff. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Kauai!
Got to the bakery by 9:30 on a Tuesday. Already a substantial lineup with off and on rain showers that didn't deter anyone from waiting outdoors. You go in one group at a time. Already the counter had run out of several selections by the time we entered to order. With this being our first visit, we tried a sampling of several bakery items and breakfast sandwiches. Awesome! The Marsaladas we ordered were cream filled and delicious and warm! Other dishes coming out looked equally appealing but we will have to
Only been once, but really enjoyed it. I had the loco moco with Kahlua pork that was unbelievable. Definitely recommend it! I went late however, so most of the baked goods were already gone, and it was still packed with a line snaking through the place to order. The cookies and scones that were left looked really good, and the service was still pretty quick despite how many people there were.
Great sugar malasadas at this little bakers. Right now they have them on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You can get them plain or filled. They also serve breakfast and lunch. Would certainly come back again
The staff is super kind and we liked the tucked away location! My unsweetened raw cacao mocha was delish (they?ll sweeten if you want). Malasadas were a hit!
Get there EARLY (within 30-60 mins of opening if you want to get your hands on their sticky buns. Though I wanted to try every single one of their pastries, I got a few variety and I must say my favorite were their Handpies (really flaky puff pastry and filling - my fav. was blueberry) and their Maca. Sticky buns. So delicious with their sticky topping. I was a little underwhelmed by their Malasadas though - good donut but the fillings were either too sweet or just lacking. I'm spoiled by the amazing malas
Be prepared for long lines on Tuesday,? Thursday and Saturdays because on those days they are selling Malasdas.? This is a much sought-after commodity.? Seriously,? long lines that move slowly. Is it worth the wait. My wife would say,? "Yes!" Me? I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I can't answer that question. Don't be surprised after standing in line for a half an hour to hear an announcement that they have run out of Malasdas. That happen to us on Tuesday Very popular place for locals and tourists a
The cream filled malasadas are a MUST TRY!!! I got all flavors (except express and matcha) and I was in love with each one! 15/10 recommended
