Lexington, Kentucky 40503
LOVE LOVE LOVE their Gluten free donuts! They are seriously incredible. Be sure you check their website for which location has gluten free available on which days!
11/4/24 My husband and I Tried this donut shop for the first time, as we?ve been on a donut kick lately, but sadly, it didn?t live up to our expectations. The donuts were overly dense and saturated with a thick, sugary coating that was just too much. Couldn?t finish even one without desperately needing a drink to wash it down. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was casual, perfect for nomadic people. Unfortunately, not a place we?d come back to.
North Lime Doughnuts on Clays Mill is hands-down the best doughnut shop in Lexington! Conveniently located in the same shopping center as my office, this place is an absolute gem. They open early, so it?s perfect for grabbing a treat to start the day or meeting clients, friends, or family in a cozy, welcoming setting. Their doughnuts are always fresh, with a great mix of classic flavors and unique, seasonal creations that never disappoint. Whether you?re in the mood for something traditional or adventurous
We recently rented the Clays Mill location for a baby shower. The rental price was affordable, and the quaint space was the perfect size. Two baristas stayed throughout the event, and management prepared three dozen specialty donuts (with pink icing) in honor of the baby girl whose upcoming arrival we were celebrating. If you need a special event space, contact North Lime Coffee & Donuts on Clays Mill Rd.
I used to like this place a lot but feel that it has gone downhill. On my last visit I stood for several minutes without being greeted while the staff chatted amongst themselves, purchased 2 donuts and 2 cold brews for a total of $17. Took the donuts to the kids and they were stale to the point that we ate a few bites and tossed them.
I come here often for the gluten free donuts. I bought half a dozen and when I went to open them I was disappointed to find a bug stuck on the icing on one of the donuts.
Great Donuts! But the issue is they run out of donuts. Let me explain last week they were out of chocolate covered today out of glaze and chocolate too. The gentleman at the front said, well you can always call ahead to see if we have them. I looked at him and said ? your a donut and coffee shop that?s all you sell you should not run out. Then I said that?s like going to KFC and them telling you they?re out of chicken I mean come on. Must be more prepared this not acceptable.
Great chill local coffee shop. We love the homemade donuts. They have several different types to pick from. We enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin selections. There is a nice outdoor patio area to just relax and chill. The employees are warm and friendly. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Follow us for more great reviews ?
20 of us strolled into North Lime this morning and we were greeted with some delicious donuts and great service. You simply cannot top these donuts in my book and when we swarmed the location with the beginning of our Christmas celebration, they took it in stride and delivered some great service. We got it all and loved it all. Great coffee and great donuts. They put it in their name and the make it great. Well done folks!
Hands down the best place to get coffee in town. Oh yeah and their donuts? amazing.
I LOVE this place. As a person with celiac, it?s quickly become a part of my weekly routine to drive up from Richmond for gluten-free donuts every Friday or Saturday when they?re available. The coffee and staff are both wonderful too! Can?t wait for the next trip!
North Lime makes the best cup of coffee in Lexington (and beyond, as fas as I'm concerned). ...and the donuts are really good too! But the greatest thing about this place is the staff. They're a wonderfully friendly and hilariously funny group of folks and I cherish every opportunity to pay them a visit.
Love this place. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Donuts were so tasty! Thanks for the great Sunday! <3
Fun atmosphere and even better donuts + coffee. Each day brings new specials so you?re always tempted to stop by and try a funky flavor!
Coffee was amazing! (Iced white mocha latte with oat milk) the pumpkin glazed donut was perfect. They had a long line but they are on top of it. Fast Service & very flavorful! Highly recommend!
This place is AMAZING! We came here a little later than usual and understandably so they were out of most donuts. (That?s a good sign!!!!) since they were out of our favorite Glazed & Chocolate Iced, we tried something new. The cinnamonkey was amazing and this was a perfect reason to try something NEW! The staff was getting bombarded by people not happy about the supply and demand issues of these delicious donuts, but they handled everything with class and respect. Will def be back many times!!!!
I can never rant enough about this place. Their customer service is quick & their donuts are SOOO GOOD. I got their gf Derby donut & oh my gosh, I was in heaven. The coffee took a second to get to me, but it was during a rush, so I wasn't complaining. It was definitely well worth the wait. Keep up the good work, you guys!
Get a fresh, warm, plain glazed, and it may be the best in town. Their specialty flavors are not always for everyone but that's what makes north lime so great, unique flavors other places don't have the courage to even try.
Night owl is my favorite iced vanilla Latte in town. The donuts are great, the coffee is fantastic, and if they had longer hours I'd probably visit twice in a day. They have some great looking merchandise as well, overall my favorite coffee shop in Lexington!
We don?t come here often but when we do it?s always a special treat. The donuts are AMAZING. Favorite is the chocolate glazed, the choc is so warm and sticky and sweet and rich I could eat 100 of them. The outside sitting area is nice too
I want to like this place, but getting coffee and donuts here is like playing the lottery. Sometimes you get fresh donuts and well made espresso, sometimes you get what are clearly donuts that have been sitting out for 3-4 days, and a half-effort drink. Most recently, I asked for a larger size for my drink, and what I got was a larger cup that wasn?t even remotely close to full. Looks like they prepared the smaller size, and just dumped it into the bigger cup. I?m probably just not going to keep coming
Love coming here. The staff always seem very happy to work here.
You can?t go wrong with North Lime for coffee and donuts! I love the blackberry filled and the Doissants. They have delicious coffee and I love their limeades in the summer.
I wasn?t going leave a bad review after one past unpleasant experience but this recent experience has changed my mind. The person behind the counter wasn?t very polite and never asked me what I I wanted to order (I?m not going to assume the gender but let?s just call her a She). She just stared at me until I ordered the ?specialty dozen?, then after never said a word when I paid . I received the donuts and was on my way I was dumbfounded of how rude my experience was but I just thought maybe she was having
I came on a Saturday morning and the place was packed. There was a line but the employees were quick and kept people moving. It seems like they have a really good system in place to get orders out. I got a cinnamon cake, funfetti sprinkle, glazed, and maple bacon doughnuts. I thought the doughnuts were ok. I will say that their specialty doughnuts are really creative but the maple bacon didnt blow me away. The staff said most of the doughnuts are cake but I think they are somewhere in between a regular flu
By far one of if not the best coffee shop I've been to in my life. They have a great selection of donuts and coffee flavors, and a wonderful staff. If you're coming to Lexington or Louisville you need to stop at one of their locations.
As a first time customer, I ordered a dozen of 12 donuts and was not impressed at all. I opened the box and the donuts were all over the place, not packed neatly and completely different sizes. Absolutely nothing like the photos listed on the website. The donuts tasted old and were not good at all.
North Lime is an amazing, eco-conscious donut & coffee shop. They now roast coffee beans themselves and have a very good Ethiopia light roast!
The donut and hot tea selection is great. We got the cinnamon sugar and chocolate-covered donuts and "Cup of Serenity" tea to-go after a little run in nearby Wellington Park. The donuts were heavenly after getting heated up in the microwave a bit. It made for the perfect indulgent morning.
Great coffee (they rotate a coffee from a local roaster every month), amazing donuts, and really nice atmosphere. Good spot to meet up for a business meeting.
Had this shop recommended to us by a friend and was not disappointed! The donuts we're amazing as well as the coffee and drink selections. If you like funnel cakes, also try their funnel cake donuts; they're amazing!
Absolutely the best donuts in Lexington. I always get greeted with a smile and the place is always spotless. Great job North Lime! My #1 spot for donuts and my customers always specify that I go there
Both the donuts and coffee were really good. Service was great as well. Would recommend a stop if you?re in town.
First experience. Lawd have mercy. Boston Creme and Coconut Lime (?) were exquisite. Definitely must return. Very patient staff too.
Very hopping place on a Saturday morning! The coffee is pretty good, especially the whole roasted beans you buy for later. The doughnuts, though, are where it?s at! The dough is super dense, simple yet flavorful, and delicious! This doughnuts taste like the authentic doughnuts we made as kids with Grands biscuits in the deep fryer at home. Probably one of the best doughnut places I?ve ever been to.
Awesome little local coffee shop with handcrafted donuts. I love to support local places over chains and this did not disappoint!
Great, local donut shop. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and very, very good donuts.
These donuts are so delicious! It?s impossible to have only one! At this location the team is efficient. I?ll definitely be returning because the donuts are just too good!
The first time I had North Lime donuts, I was in middle school doing a camp at the LASC. Over 10 years later and they are just as delicious! The staff at this location is absolutely wonderful as well. Highly recommend!
I live within a half mile of this place and I have to seriously pace myself when it comes to how often I stop in. One of my favorite local shops in Lexington and everything is delicious, no matter food or beverage! Usually I just stop in for coffee or a latte, but the donuts are to die for. And I never use the phrase "to die for" because I think it's absurd, so that should tell you something. NLCD hack: take your donuts home and put them in the microwave for roughly 8 seconds. You'll thank me later. Serio
Best donuts in Lexington and great kind service.
My BF said that they were too expensive. PS. It would be nice if North Lime location opened at 6:30 am.
If you want doughnuts in Lexington this is the place to go. Always an interesting variety. Here is their Halloween offering. Something to do with slime. Good coffee to go with that doughnut. Agent Cooper would be most elated!
The people were very nice and were extremely helpful. The donuts look, smell, and taste amazing. Their funnel cake donut is perfect, tastes like the real thing
Refreshing my review as things have gotten worse. Last two days I checked again and still no gluten free even though was Friday and Saturday and today they had no internet. Who is running this place?! Previous post: been here several times and many of these times they were closed so hours are not really conducive to afternoon coffee drinkers and staff is not friendly. I have to give two stars for their lack of friendliness and limited open hours though coffee and most times donuts are good. Last time I
Speedy, delicious, and great Covid protocol. Got the blueberry glazed, cinnamon and sugar, a cinnamon roll, and the PB filled (not pictured, RIP). Each one was great!
Really good donuts. Ordered a coffee black, wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad. I'd come here again for sure if I had one near where I lived.
So...... just left there and got a plain glazed donut... and now I'm in a parking lot trying to decide how fat I'm going to be today. In the future, when I say I want a donut, that's what I want. It was devine, almost like beignet. The staff was so nice and helpful, I'm trying to get my life together right now.
Great Local Business. Donuts are fabulous! My favorite is the Funnel Cake Donut, I even think theirs at this location is better than the location downtown. Plenty of parking. Great Friendly Staff. 2/7/19 Update: I no longer live near this location and went across town this morning and wanted to stop by and get some donuts for my coworkers. I felt unappreciated by the girl taking my order. She never said anything when I said thank you multiple times when she took my order, when I paid or when I got my donut
Always great coffee and exceptional service!
Very chill vibe. Employees are always very kind. Chai is top notch here. Very bold.
Best donuts ever tasted! I crave their coffee and have to force myself to only treat every so often or I'd be there daily!!
Great donuts and coffee. the servers are friendly. cool atmosphere.
It's my favorite coffee place. Delicious coffees, and don't get me started on the donuts! So good. They have multiple locations and their donuts are delightful ??
First time at North Lime. Great service. Doughnuts are different from most as they are heavy but tasted great! Had the chocolate iced with a plain cup of coffee. They have all the fancy stuff but I?m a sugar/cream in regular coffee girl. The lighting is wrong as there were spots that shined right in your eyes. My husband was very uncomfortable. We were sitting by the wall right by the shelves with coffee and cups for sale. He was facing the counter. Thanks for caring!!
The best coffee in Lexington. Excellent service!
I absolutely LOVE this local donut shop. I'm so thankful to have this location so close to home and work. They have delicious doughnuts and coffee (my favorite treat is the iced caramel macchiato). During COVID they have smart and effective distancing procedures in place with marked areas to stand outside and great curbside service. Their special doughnuts are excellent and fun to look forward to as well.
I absolutely LOVE this place. Delicious donuts, amazing coffee, wonderful service. You won't find a better donut shop in Lexington.
There are so many great donut places in Lexington, but North Lime is the only one I?ve found to have great donuts AND great coffee! We stop nearly every time we are in Lexington, even if just passing through town. Great selection of classic drinks and donuts as well as unique flavors that rotate weekly.
Coffee was hot and the donuts were square and delicious
usually the line is near the door and there?s only one cash register so it can be slow but the donuts are some of the best I?ve ever had. Fluffy, sweet, the icing isn?t messy at all. it?s a bit crunchy and super sweet. the coffees are unique and always so interesting that I never have a ?usual? because I want to try them all!
I just ate a regular glazed donut here and it was very yummy! I like the ambience here, and I think the owl logo is cool. To drink I just had a black coffee, which had a little bit of a sour / acidy taste and I wasn't too crazy about it. But I would come back here! (Probably for donuts more than coffee though.)
This more-suburban location lacks some of the charm of their original location downtown but makes up for that with sheer excellent service. There's plenty of room to spread out and work on your laptop (if you are willing to risk donut glaze flakes getting in your keyboard). The donuts are my favorite in the whole world, I still haven't found any other place as good as North Lime. The coffee is also amazingly delicious. If you haven't been here you should go right now!
Never again will I go to Starbucks. As a mail carrier I NEED coffee, and having found a place with such a local, cute, eclectic vibe where the employees remember my name guarantees a good start to my work day. The drinks are amazing, and the donuts are to die for! With new flavors all the time, you never get bored. Having said this, they could serve me literal trash and sewer water, and I?d still go back because they?re that nice.
The donuts are some of the best in Lexington. You can?t go wrong with one of the classics and the fun flavors are usually delicious too! Their pickup system has been really slow (had to wait close to 20 mins past my pickup time), so you might just want to walk up and order.
The reason I am giving 3 stars is for a hygene issue I witnessed. The person assigned to donuts has gloved hands and this customer came up with what looked like her own tumbler mug from home and placed it in the workers gloved hands who was on donut station and complained about the coffee she didnt like it (employee handled well) HOWEVER I watched this employee walk around holding the customers cup and then eventually sets it down on the counter and goes back to filling donut orders WITHOUT changing her glo
One of my go to when in Lexington, iced coffee is great and always consistent and are some good specialty coffee selections. I also really enjoy their limeades. Their specialty doughnuts are really nice as well, a little pricier than getting them from a donut shop for same quality but worth the convince of a one stop shop and they have really nice options.
Alright, I'm leaving this because I think North Lime often gets a bad rap on their Donuts. While they are a thicker consistency than most, they are at least creative. So often they produce new taste and sometimes themed donuts. That's much cooler than most donut shops who push out the same product every day. Also, their coffee is better than any of the other shops around and the wait staff is absolutely fantastic.
Very busy place. Line moved slower than it should IMO. The donut was good, very small compared to example at counter. It was a Peach fritter and had a real Peach flavor. Though for price and size would expect peach pieces in the donut. Latte was okay, again separate wait time for drink. This kept people in constant flow pattern near the counter.
I had the National Coffee week special drink, the Country Bumpkin. It tasted like a typical fall drink. It contained pumpkin and was a caramel and apple butter latte. There is plenty of seating inside and out, and adequate free parking near the store. The free Wi-Fi signal is strong and there are a few places to use your computer. It would be nice to have a few more places to charge your phone or laptop, though.
We live in the neighborhood and come here pretty often! The coffee is really good and fairly priced and the donuts are always fun. I like that they have a lot of seating, even though it's a small space. Highly recommend.
Love the donuts and coffee, but there was one employee that was very rude. She had glasses and was rather older then everyone else. She was very rude to other employees in front of customers. As a customer I should not be witnessing a girl cry and being mistreated. Yes She was hard working, but didn?t have very good social skills or teamwork. I didn?t feel comfortable bringing my kids with all of her yelling. They were frightened. Other than that, great place!
I am a bit disappointed by my experience today. I?ve never had refrigerated Donuts from a donut shop. I ordered 2 cinnamonkeys and 2 chocolate glaze (because for some reason they were sold out of glazed by noon) for $6, a good bargain for local fresh made donuts. I bet these tasted great when fresh but they were served cold which made them less enjoyable. Might give their original location a shot.
Not a very welcoming place. I?ve went back because the donuts are great (if you get fresh ones), but the person up front makes me feel like I?m bothering her. I don?t like feeling rushed when there isn?t even a line behind me, especially when you?re paying what they charge for donuts. Ask questions... you just get made to feel stupid. I think this trip did it for me, I?m done.
This is my favorite spot to grab coffee in Lexington. The donuts are tasty as well. I had an unfortunate experience there, the last 2 times they have sent out customers through email- and I have yet to be able to use them there. The last coupon I received was for 25% off I was so excited to purchase some coffee, Nate's Coffee is the best, went to buy the coffee in the bags, get to the counter and was told that the coffee bags were not eligible. I still bought the coffee. In the future if sending out coupon
Your staff is outstanding! Friendly, always cheerful (at 6:00am no less). They work hard to meet your every need, with a smile. Best in town (clays mill).
Cute coffee and donut shop with pretty good flavor. Kinda pricey on some of the drinks, but not any worse than Starbucks.
Went in to get coffee this morning. Ordered two Crissa espresso drinks to be put in one cup. The barista handed me one. I said ?I ordered two.? His response, ?well, you got what you paid for.? I turned to the cashier and said, ?Did you get my order for two?? She turns to barista and said it should?ve been two.? I asked ?Do I get two?? His response, ?No.? Garbage, juvenile attitude and nothing was done to get my other drink. Ya got one star cause the donuts are decent. Do better on your company culture. They
Our favorite donut/coffee shop in Lexington... maybe ever, so far! Dark chocolate latte.... yum!! Our coffee is on point every.single.time. Friendly staff. Every donut is amazing, right down to the plain glazed. Fun fact, they are square shaped!
The coffee brewed here is delicious as are the donuts. Lots of variety in drink options and usually at least six kinds of donuts are available every day. They change what flavors are available each day, but there are often very interesting and not too large.
Need to hire someone else to take orders in the morning, as the pine is out the door. Great coffee, and one of the best donuts in town. But, I can't stop here anymore until it doesn't take an extra 25 minutes to get in there before work, especially for the price. I'll happily pay the price of the coffee and donuts if I didn't have to wait so long for it.
You guys have some quality coffee, but it?s too acidic to go well with donuts, but maybe that works for you since you, respectfully, don?t seem to know how to make donuts. All donuts have a certain quality that yours lack completely. I would suggest you take a field trip to Franks a few blocks over for an example of what a real donut tastes like, because theirs could be improved upon but you are far enough off the mark I?d not call what I got here donuts.
First timer but would definitely go back. Some of the best donuts we've had
Excellent place, great atmosphere and great donuts and coffee. Would recommend anytime you're in Lexington Ky.
North Lime?s plain glazed donut is the best in town, and their coffee is tasty and brewed strong. I particularly like this location because it is right across the street from Wellington Park - lots of pet owners at the dog park on a Saturday morning with coffee and donuts in hand!
What a wonderful crew showed up right before closing..personable, service with a smile engaging did all the extras to welcome me..donuts are excellent, great coffee will return soon!
The coffee is good, the donuts are great. I would not suggest sitting inside. The music was not ambient, it was kept loud so it's difficult to have a conversation, read a book, listen to your own content, or work on something requiring thought.
I have had their donuts many times before, but this was the first time I have been there in person. I know nothing about coffee and rarely drink it, but was in the mood to try theirs today. The two girls working were very friendly and helpful and explained the difference between the types of coffee they had available today. I ordered one of the hot coffees. The previous customer (who had already left) ordered a cold brew iced coffee and the girls realized that they accidentally made an extra one so inst
