There is nothing like warm, melt in your mouth, glazed donuts. It's been over a year since I've visited the legendary Nelson's Donuts. I stopped by at 5:00 a.m. today. I ordered a dozen glazed, expecting hot donuts or at least warm donuts because I was there bright and early at 5:00 a.m. The donuts were room temp. It's almost like I got left over from the day before donuts. I was really disappointed. I've been to many other donut shops early in the morning and it's a for sure thing that you'll get warm donu
I visited once for a half dozen glazed/chocolate. The glazed were warm, soft, melt in your mouth. Service was as expected when younger individuals work. Only complaint is the donuts come in paper bags like most American owned shops. I personally don't like them to be mashed together. Not good for sharing, it's cheaper I get but no thanks
I?ve tried donuts around the country, and outside too, and Nelsons has the best. We always pay this place a visit when in town. I?m always impressed by the quality products and speed of service.
There glazed donuts are the absolute best! My only complaint is the stuffed donuts don?t have enough filling. Delicious donuts on country club over stuff there filled donuts and are amazing. If Nelson?s would add more filling, their would be no reason to go anywhere else.
They didn't any croissant sandwiches nor biscuit sandwiches but the donuts were delicious. I would come back.
They are rude and I stop at 445 am and get cold donuts which is probably yesterday donuts
Stopped by for a dozen donuts for my crew. I said I wanted assorted and they gave me 5 cake donuts. There was a few jelly filled but 5 cake donuts felt like too much. It takes a very particular taste to perfer cake donuts and we ended up throwing 3 of those away.
Have randomly visited this place throughout the past decade plus. Always friendly and help service, always fresh and tasty food.
Insane hole in the wall place to find the BEST boudin kolaches in your life. I only trust Lake Charles people to make my boudin anyways but I specifically drive all the way from Houston when I visit friends and always make sure to stop by here. Have to hurry before 11am that?s when they run out of god?s little gift to kolaches.
Went for the sausage and jalapeno kolaches, but they were out of those, which was fine. They told me only boudin kolaches were available, so I ordered 2 of those instead. When I got home and opened the bag, I saw that I had something completely different which contained ham and cheese inside instead of boudin. I just took it as a loss as I did not feel like driving back. I only left 3 stars because the glazed donuts I ordered were warm and really good. This was my first time going to this place since I move
Pros: They really are the best-tasting glazed donuts in town, and they come out all warm even late in the day. Cons: Overpriced Monster Energy Drinks ($3.50/ea), and they started putting cheese in their boudin kolaches.
Literally the BEST donuts around!! Can't be best. ALWAYS sweet, helpful, staff. That breakfast donut sandwich is a complete game changer... blows McDonald's Mcgriddle out the water!
Don?t understand all the rage about the kolaches (micro-kolaches). They?re half the size of all the other places for the same price. Would have had a more positive experience if the guy at the window would have been remotely friendly when they were all out of everything at 0900.
Best fresh donuts in town. And best housemade chocolate filling. Most other places use the pre-made that taste like chocolate pudding. There's is soooo much better. Very good but not over sweet. Do yourself a favor and try the chocolate filled king cake, and thank me later.
Tasted just as good as I remember them! I got there later in the morning so they only had glazed but I was able to walk right up to the window to get them. Can't wait to go back for my favorite, chocolate covered. So glad y'all are back!
My dad has been going here to get donuts since he was a little boy and he is 57 years old and I have been going since I was a little girl and the same with my brother, Nelson?s Donuts is so good and I recommend if you are trying to get a really good breakfast that are donuts Nelson?s is the best way to go. Overall they make such good donuts and they have great customer service. 5/5 stars
I had a chocolate cake donut as cake donuts are my fav however not all donut shops have goooood cake donuts! It was so moist and the chocolate actually tasted like chocolate i also had Bavarian cream donut omgggg! It was hands down delicious! I love donuts i wish this place was open 24/7?
Nelson' s is not only the BEST donuts in town, but they're nostalgic for me. I've gotten donuts from here since I was a little girl. Now, I take my family every Sunday before church. We're carrying on the tradition. LOVE this place!!
This place is by far the BEST donuts I've ever tasted in my 60+ years ! I've tried most of the donut shops in this parish and I can tell you these are THE best. Try their filled donuts and blueberry donuts if you can, you won't be sorry. I really can't say enough good things about this place.
Bought a box of mixed donuts and some kolaches. Both were cold. I understand not able to re heat the donuts but the kolaches could have at least been thrown in the microwave. For $25 and cold food? I won?t be returning.
Don't know what happened to Nelson's Donuts but ever since they reopened it hasn't been the same. The boudin kolaches shrunk smaller than a chihuahua paw and are so flat like a steamroller ran over it. And the other kolaches are so very small way to expensive for the size of the kolaches.
Love Donuts from here. I usually get some sprinkled, some fills, and some chocolate donuts.

I just recently located to LC from Alexandria and this is the only place that comes even close to our doughnut shop Shipley's. So glad that I found you guys because the Shipley's here is not the same recipe and very disgusting.
I was given an entire dozen of lemon doughnuts... didnt realize till I got home... brought them back and they put them back on the rack to be resold... so gross. Delicious donuts on country club is a way better shop, fuller donuts too.
This is the best donut place in town. They always have amazing melt in your mouth donuts and donut holes and their service is always courteous and friendly. Would go here all day everyday if I could!
The best donuts I have ever had. I grew up eating them and now I live in Utah and really have dreams about Nelson' donuts. I hope they have reopened when I come to town the end of June!!!
Nelson's donuts has the BEST glazed donuts in town. Go early in the morning & get them hot. They literally melt in your mouth!
I bought lemon filled donuts ask for extra lemon and milk. The milk was spoiled and donuts very little lemon plus the inside in middle was not cooked all the way, couldn?t eat them.They told me when come back next few days they give me both free when I come in. Well they said no we can?t help you but for mil free. So check them before you leave
There?s something extra special about these donuts. I?ve lived in Lake Charles for 1 year & several people told me to try Nelson?s & WOW ! Amazing, these donuts melt in your mouth ! I have sampled a lot of donuts across several cities/states, in my 30-ish years, & I haven?t tasted a donut that comes to close to Nelson?s ! I mean really, Krispy Kreme & Southern Maid have nothing on Nelson?s. Nelson?s recently caught on fire, my kids and I have been devastated. We bond over our weekly treat to Nelson?s donuts

Nice to have Nelson's opened again. I used to stop in after school a few times a week when I was in elementary/middle school across the street at F.K.White. Enjoy these every once in a while now.
I keep the donuts hot till about 10a.m. it's under new management. Come by and give us a try for some fresh hot glazed. Or some kolaches made fresh every day
Boudin kolaches shrunk since my last visit... just wasn't the same as it remembered. Inside was good but bread bottom was a little hard
We just got a king cake (plain) and it was absolutely delicious. I had two pieces and am considering a third. I highly recommend.
I'm from the east coast and it's amazing how people here are raving about these donuts. They are alright. I guess I'm used to hot krispy creme or Dunkin' Donuts and much better southern cuisine. No diss to the food here tho.
