Our favorite donut & kolache place in Austin. They have egg-free donuts, awesome for school events. Reasonably priced. Owner is very friendly.
Perfect texture. Liked that they fill them when you order. No mushy donut guts!. Owner is loveable and kind. Showed up an hour before close and everything was fresh. Half a dozen for $5 and change. As another review stated... They didn't make it home. Doubling up my order next time. Ive been back several times this month. As always really fresh. They even did the fruity pebbles as a topping. Must try when theyre fresh. The Thai Tea is amazing! Plus you get a free donut with it. I love this place.
I?m not the kind of person that just goes out. Looking to write bad reviews. I love writing good reviews but this place doesn?t deserve one. This morning I ordered a large kolache and a chocolate covered donut, and both had to be at least a day old. The lady behind the counter was very sweet and that?s about the only thing this place had going for it, because the donut was not.
Pass by this shop all the time and finally stopped to check it out. I was not impressed, donuts are extremely oily and not fresh. The breakfast tacos are small and they use a microwave to heat it up, should at least use a griddle. The lady helping me out was really nice but the food was just not good.
You shouldn't charge a card and include a fee without telling the customer. If u say the prove I'm paying is one thing and then you charge me a dollar more tell me before you do it. Instead the horrid lady pointed to a small sign off to the side like I should have known. On top of that all the donuts we got this morning tasted old and stale. That was my first and last time going there. ATX donuts is way better and they don't illegally charge you.
Great kolaches, fresh donuts and great assortment of pastries. Excellent customer service as well!
My Husband & Son went 2 this place on Thurs 8/1/24 about 3p.m. the doughnuts were retieved OUT THE BK of house, NOT from the front diaplay! Doughnuts were Very Old, limp, Oily & downright ??. & after this unthinkable transaction of Doughnuts & glancing over the reviews! I NOW see the place MUST be doing business in The Twilight MATRIX??MOST Reviews are from different ppl whom have had a very common EXPERIENCE!! I can hear Gordon Ramsey asking the Owner/Baker... But do U EAT IT? The Product? If its nasty 2 u
yeah these donuts are ok at best. pricy for being so small and not that fresh $1.15 each. the chocolate glaze is pretty lame. empanada was not good either. didn't taste fresh and not enough filling. I'd go elsewhere.
First time in here. Probably the last time. I hate to leave a score like this, but the donuts were underdone and very greasy. I also had a beef empanada that was very dry and bland. I hope this can be changed because the shopkeeper was very nice.
Cake Donuts felt soggy and undercooked. Smelled and tasted like pure oil. Regular donuts were just ok, still pretty oily. Could be the oil wasn?t hot enough, or old oil. But taste isn?t good. Would not recommend.
All visible sausage kolaches looked at least 1 day old. Ordered the ham & cheese and took 1 bite and immediately spit it out. The ham was old and had the most pungent smell to it. Will never come back here. Stay away
Good selection of donuts. Also banh mi sandwich?s! Yay boy.
UPDATE 1/27/23: I Just noticed that there is a nearly 4% fee for using a credit card on my latest transaction from this donut shop. If I had not asked for a receipt, I never would have known that the cost was actually $7.14 instead of the verbally quoted $6.87. there is no sign at the register that they charge a fee for credit card use, and it was not told to me when I whipped out my card. I definitely would have noticed a sign, because I was twiddling my thumbs for around 5 minutes while they needed to get
Absolutely delicious!!! The cake donuts are phenomenal, the kolaches are delicious, the tacos are good - you just cant go wrong here. This is easily one of my favorite places to eat at least once a week.
I see a lot of reviews that say that it's some great donuts and kolaches. I got a donut, some small pigs in a blanket, and a breakfast croissant sandwich before 6 am. The sandwich had moist bread, sour tasting lunchmeat, and an extremely thin layer of egg white that was stiff, like it was cooked a while ago. The pigs in a blanket had hard sausages, chewy bread, and were extremely bread-y in terms of ratio of bread to sausage. The donut was a chocolate cake donut, which tastes like, oddly, nothing. Even the
Paid $50.05 for 12 kolaches and 12 donut holes. The kolaches didn't have any gold in them unfortunately. Online menu is wrong. The prices are almost double now. Take your hard earned money somewhere else.
Got two dozen donuts for a work potluck. They were well received ("better than this-place or that-place"). I personally sampled the lemon filled, chocolate topped, and Boston cr?me filled. Very delicious! The apple fritters are the best Ive had. The lady is very professional yet friendly.
I went here because of the great reviews. I bought a dozen of the ham and cheese kolaches. When I made it home I noticed that they were hard like they had previously been refrigerated and weren't freshly made. I then warmed them up in the microwave because I thought that may help. I took a bite and the ham inside tasted old and rancid. In fact the whole thing tasted like it was 3 or 4 days old. I didn't even eat 1 of the dozen kolaches that I spent $20.00 on. Instead they went straight into the garbage can.
Absolutely magical jelly filled donuts, so light and perfectly glazed, your tastebuds will be astounded. So many combinations and flavors too! Reg or Choc glaze with your choice of filling! Can't wait to try some new combos next time!
I stopped here once before on a weekend to grab a snack and there are a good variety of items. I stopped again today to get a dozen donuts for work. It's a little hard to get in and out of during morning traffic, especially since I was going the opposite way. The service here is always super nice. I ordered a dozen glazed, mini kolaches, and donut holes. The donut holes were very light and fluffy, they were large for donut holes too. The mini kolaches were good the dough was good. They have a ton of kolach
Way better than I expected. Honestly I thought they would just be average hole in the wall donut shop. No, these donuts were AMAZING. I got a dozen of various flavors and such, every one of them was fantastic. I loved the maple donut, the blueberry cake was also fantastic.
I?ve been on a donut kick for the past few days. N?Star?s donuts are evil. They?re evil, because I would eat well over a dozen, if humanly possible! The donuts are fresh, not all stale and nasty. They offer up other food options (bacon egg and cheese sammich, anyone?) if you?re not feeling sweet. Recommended!
Found a new donut spot!! I order regular glazed, chocolate glazed and cinnamon twist (with cinnamon glaze) It was the absolute best I've had in a while for a decent price. I have two small children who love donuts so I've tasted my fair share.
I go here a few times a week after work. Not expensive. I usually pay $3 for a filled donut and a small kolache. Selection is better if you wait until almost 9 am. Friendly staff. The location isn't the best. Go to late in the morning and Palmer is hard to get back into. Small parking lot.
Nice service. Donuts are thin and had a crunchy outside, nothing special and not exactly what I look for in a donut. Also found a nice long black hair in one of mine. Honestly don't think ill go back. Dunkin is about 3 mins up the road and much better, which I know their awful too but definitely better.
To say this place only sells donuts is an understatement. They also sell kolaches and other pastries. Prices are very reasonable and affordable. I was also surprised to find out they also offer banh mi, Filipino pancit and other side dishes! Alas, i was full, I'd need to revisit this shop to try these other dishes. They're also active supporters of St. Albert the Great parish.
Cold, as in refrigerated, donuts that don't taste good. Skip this place. Was hoping for at least warm.
OMG!!! The donuts! Just the plain Jane glazed are heavenly!! No joke - simple yet simply the BEST EVER!! These melt in your mouth treasures make Krispy Kreme look / taste like store brand packaged pastries. Oh, they also have great kolaches & fancy donuts that are the BOMB!! As well. People are friendly & welcoming. Great little hidden spot for yummy rnorning munchies.
I dont give reviews that often but the donuts and kolaches here are no joke. Honestly the best cake donuts Ive had in a long time, maybe ever. The empanadas, coffee, and bahn mi are good too, where else can you get donuts and bahn mi? Everything is well priced and staff is always friendly.
Went this morning, not too bad I'd say. Apple fritters are huge and very rich. Glazed are okay. Could use regular chocolate covered Boston Kreme(got an eclair instead) but overall a good donut shop.
Donuts are not fresh, kolaches are not fresh. Donuts are too sweet not enough dough won?t order again. Just wanted to try them
The most disgusting kolaches and donuts I?ve ever had. Also spent more than I ever have before at a donut shop. I will never come back to this donut shop.
Everything we have tried here has been delicious. The donuts, the breakfast tacos, egg sandwiches, empanadas - it's all great. The kids enjoy coming here and the women who work here are always welcoming and kind.
1st time visitor, and everything was good and fresh. Ordered the mini kolaches, donut holes, a cinnamon roll, and a cake glazed donut.
A family-owned, tucked away jewel! They will make you fresh breakfast sandwiches on homemade croissants--for vegetarians too! They have about every drink that you could want, every pastry and roll, breakfast tacos?... everything! So yummy!
The BEST donuts I have ever had! They just melt in your mouth. I'm so sad that I only bought 2! I'm buying a dozen next time I go back!
Got some donuts 10 minutes before closing and they were still fluffy and delicious. They make a very good, simple donut and the owner is so nice.
It's a donut shop that has donuts. They were really good but nothing special. I'd go back again for more if I'm in the area. Clean shop and a nice server.
The best place in town to get your morning started! Great kolachies and donuts, and the owner nini is the nicest lady you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. I would give 10 stars if I could.
Never ever in my life I have had a donuts like this hard cold over priced rude the biggest of all fake old donut selling place ever
Its Friday and we opted for breakfast on the way to work...a kolache and a donut. The kolache was hard and shriveled and the apple fritter was a hockey puck. THEY DO NOT SERVE FRESH FOOD
Service was great, donuts were tasty. Will be back!
Perfect texture on the donuts, soft with just a hint of the fried crunch. So good! And kolaches are also delicious!
I would rate this higher if I could! The staff are wonderful people and they sell great bahn mi sandwiches on weekends. I always leave this store happy.
Unexpectedly great. Fresh donuts, great customer service. Took in a dozen variety for coworkers and it was all snapped up. Delicious!
Very knd and quick service, but the donuts just weren't very good. Wouldn't go again, but appreciate the nice clerk!
Its my 1st time to go to this place and she is really nice and friendly.. On top of everything i love the donuts one of the best donuts in town..
We love this place! Great glazed donuts, apple fritters, kolaches & croissant sandwiches. Friendly service always
Kolaches/tacos were pretty bad. I think i might have been served yesterday's batch
Omg if you like coffee you?ll the smooth scent as you walk in. The atmosphere has a hint of like an old jazz bar it?s very welcoming.
Shopping center they are in kind of sucks in terms of getting in/out and parking but, other than that the donuts are on the better end from what I've had in Austin.
N'Star has become our default for doughnuts in North Austin. The doughnuts are almost always perfect, and it's location is unbeatable for my family and I.
I love this place. Donuts are rich and fluffy. You can really tell there is passion in the baking.
Great staff and tasty donuts! They offer a variety of other delectables. Best donuts for miles!
The prices are great and the croissant sandwiches are SO GOOD!!! All of the donuts are tasty and adorable too
Their donuts are the best I've found, so much better than Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, Shipleys and any other spot that sells donuts.
The donuts were a huge hit with my associates! Thank you much for making 12 dozen fresh, ya'll rock!
All of my coworkers said that these were the best donuts that they've had in a while!
Amazing donuts and so warm people with amazing attitude... Besides they sell some asian food dishes.. ??
I was looking for a good donut spot to have breakfast with my family. This place is good and everything we needed it to be.
I gave this place 2 stars but that was being generous. Worse donut place that I have ever had.
This place aint it, cheif. Over priced , stale kolaches and smashed donut holes.
Amazing kolaches & donuts that can be filled on the spot with any deliciousness of your choosing!
Stopped here for donuts this morning they were awful, greasy, and crunchy but the lady at the counter had great customer service.
The lady who helped was very friendly, the prices are great, and everything was delicious. What more could you ask for?
Good standard assortment of donuts and kolaches with the latest hours in the day I could find.
We love this doughnut shop. Our family comes every week!
Quick friendly customer service. Great selection and delicious donuts.
You've got to try their cake donuts! By far the best in Austin.
Best cinnamon rolls I've ever had!
This place is amazing and the staff is so nice! Everything is so fresh and so good!
Do not recommend! The entire selection was at least a day old.
So disappointed very small donuts for the high price No recommendations for this place.
Some of the best donuts my kid loves them
Totally awesome affordable and greatest apple fritters ever!
Really good doughnuts, I'll definitely be back!
Probably the best Kolache I?ve ever had.
Playing "stand in your love" on the radio when I walked in! Nice
Great donuts, cinnamon rolls, and kolaches!
Today was my 1st time and all I can say is it won't be my last ??
Maple glazed cake donut is so so good
Friendly at.osphere and great service.
Good but some items are overpriced
Great apple fritters and smoothies.
Best glazed donut ever!
Great kolaches. Great service.
Phenomenal Donuts and great service
Bad food not worth it
