My Old World Bakery

My Old World Bakery

Reviews Summary

This bakery is beloved for its friendly, family-owned atmosphere and homemade treats like donut sticks, pecan rolls, and cherry pies. Many praise the fresh, delicious pastries and excellent service, with some calling it the best local bakery. However, a few note inconsistencies—some items can be stale, dry, or overly oily, and popular items sell out quickly. Pricing is generally fair, though a few find portions small for the cost. While most reviews are glowing (especially for specialty items and custom cakes), occasional quality issues and limited availability of favorites keep it from being perfect for everyone.

Customer Reviews

Incredibly sweet owner with very tasty bread and cakes!!! Sometimes there's also doughnuts although she's not making them right now (the doughnut sticks are the best in the Hilltop!). The cookies are delicious, sometimes on the crunchy/chewy side but always tastes amazing and perfect with a cup of coffee or warm hot chocolate. You can also go in and make custom orders, as Terri makes adorable cakes (I've gotten cakes with wildflowers, ghosts, and Kirby so far)! I'm grateful to have such a lovely little bake

Disappointing experience at Old World Bakery. The pastries were stale, the bread was bland, and nothing tasted fresh. Worse, the owner was unwelcoming and dismissive, making the whole visit unpleasant. With so many better bakeries in Columbus, I won?t be back.

Sour dough bread is excellent. Chocolate cake also excellent. Carrie is wonderful.

The owner was lovely and everything I purchased was really yummy! I bought raspberry paczkis, donut stick, a family sized cherry danish, and cinnamon bread!

Noticed on maps so stopped. Big selection of donuts ,cookies ,breads, and pastries.got creme filled with chocolate icing and plain creme filled. Great taste, filling almost marshmallow taste. Donut not usual texture, closer to a fry bread texture. Different but tasty. Very friendly atmosphere.

Our family& I really enjoy the family feel here! The staff's warm and inviting. My kid's love the donuts,&I can't get enough of their homemade pies! It's nice knowing that we're supporting a long standing neighborhood, family shop like this! Anyone can go to a chain grocery store for just about anything, however, I love being able to take my girls here on their way to school for a job well done &know that I'm creating memories that will last. The service is faster than any chain, &it's nice seeing the same

May be a little run down on the outside, but we have gone twice within one week of discovering this bakery because it is so good! Plus everything is extremely well priced. We loved the donut sticks, pecan rolls, honeycomb, and the maple peanut cinnamon roll. Definitely worth trying!

Doughnut bakeries are a dime a dozen but this Bakery is something special. They sell homemade bread that is amazing and will even slice it for you. Their pastries are also amazing and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

I thought the pastries were small, about 1/3 less in size than a regular donut and the price was 90 cents each! I can go to Meijer and get better tasting donuts for 60 cents each. The lady told me that they make their donuts the night before, so I guess that explains why they don't taste vary fresh. I got a creme horn and it had meringue in it instead of a sweet creme filling. The only good thing that I would go back to eat again was their pecan rolls, they were quite tasty.

Friendly small-town bakery! I ordered a few pies for my wedding, and a baby shower cake. Amazingly affordable prices and really good donuts. Love the pecan roll (when they aren't sold out)! Some items are a little dry, so I recommend buying any items early in the day. All in all, a great little local shop.

I think she has some of the best doughnuts and extremely reasonable pricing. I doubt any of the negative reviews are realistic, mainly because I've been going there for years and have never once had any "dry cupcakes" or problems with the size of the pastries. I swear people who are bored with life will go after anyone anymore. But seriously, if you're looking for a good baker and you're in the area, give this one a try.

Husband and I went there, about 15 to 20 mins ago. Our first time. Nice small shop. Nice owner. I just tried her cinnamon roll with white icing, it was mouth watering delicious. Loved it. And it's only 5 minutes driving from my home. ????

Donuts are kind if oily. I love donuts. I love trying all donut places, but unfortunately these donuts all had an oily taste to them the day that I tried them. They do have more than donuts. They were very friendly. I just wouldn't get the donuts again.

They no longer make donuts. The French horn I bought was terrible and very stale! I won't be back. I did call and complain and she offered me a refund.

Went for the first time today after reading the reviews and it was a mistake. The cupcake was hard as a rock!! The icing didn't even transfer on your finger. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 is because I also got a toffee pretzel and it was ok. The owner did make it right by giving me my money back.

I ordered a 2 tier wedding anniversary cake for 165.00. Cake was so dry you needed a gallon of milk to wash it down. Not very tasty.

I used to come here on my way to work a lo g time ago and me and my coworkers would all meet here and enjoy!!! Now the pastries are of the poorest quality ,extreamly small in comparison to other pastries and quite stale really really stale I had a friend in from. England and I had bragged about this place to him for some time and the morning after he arrived stateside we went here and I was actually embarrassed extremely embarrassing

For a week i tried to get a cake made for my daughter's 4th birthday.... I called and was told to get ahold of them through their Facebook page as well as asked when I needed the cake, which was 8 days later from when I called and was told thats plenty of time... Then on their Facebook page I only got an answer to a question every 2 days. We are new to the area and this place was recommended... unfortunately we didn't like the first experience and won't be trying to get anything from them again

We really enjoy the glazed fried Danish, peanut crispies, cherry ?? turnovers, beehives and the delicious breads always a wonderful experience we return often for more of our favorites.

I love this place. They are so friendly and everything we've tried has been delicious. Their cinnamon bread makes the best French toast ever!

My wife and I moved to Columbus about a year ago and we have loved their donuts! Highly recommend. We always get friendly service as well!

Would be 5 stars if I could get the donuts I liked more often than every 1 in 4 trips, if you don't get there when they open the regular glazed are always gone by before 7 am don't understand why that is a regular thing and they don't make more of the most popular ones, best glazed donuts there are but a 5 minute window a day to get them

I love this little bakery every thing is nice and fresh they are so friendly the pecan rolls are amazing. Highly recommended.

This is a very traditional & wonderful Bakery, it's the best! Pies, pastries, bread & specialty items I've havery never been able to get from anywhere else.

Great old bakery taste, plenty of assortment of donuts, cookies and specialties. The donuts are rather small though

I love this place. It is the best mom and pop shop aroud to get your bake goods. Best tip is to get there early as things sell out quickly.

Absolutely the best donut sticks...taste like a fluffier funnel cake! Everything else is also first rate

Great pastries. You can call a day ahead and place your order for pickup.

Bakery closed due to cancer illness....should change internet listing...I'm sure it's a great bakery ..
