Mr K Donut & Kolaches

Mr K Donut & Kolaches

Reviews Summary

The reviews show a generally positive consensus with many praising the friendly service, fresh donuts, and kolaches, particularly the sausage varieties. Several highlight the local, family-owned aspect and good prices. However, some criticize the quality of certain items like breakfast tacos, kolaches with hotdogs, or overly salty flavors. A few complain about inconsistent availability of popular items. While most rate it highly (5/5), some lower ratings cite subpar food quality, preferring alternatives like Shipley's. The kolaches and donuts receive the most praise, with minor complaints about portion sizes or cheese amounts. Overall, it's a beloved local spot with strong loyalty despite some quality concerns.

Customer Reviews

Had their breakfast tacos today and they are probably the worst breakfast tacos I?ve had hands down. Seems like they had frozen French fries?! Tortilla was hard when I bit into it and had to warm up in microwave to soften it up. On top of that as I was eating there were pieces of egg that were inedible very tough and rubbery. Very cheap quality food. Would not recommend.

I?ve been coming to Mr. K since they had a location down the street! No kolaches compare to the ones here, the breading is soft hot or cold.

The lady?s in there were very nice. They even gave me free donuts. I did buy four dozen but they gave me two free bags of donut holes. It was very nice.

Support this local business fresh donuts and kolaches at great prices truly recommend. ????????

Oh no what a shame. New cook? New employees?? Just not the same as it used to be. Oh my God I?m so bummed out. I loved this place. I used to buy donuts here and bring to my customers to try and promote. Won?t be doing that anymore. Unfortunately I won?t be buying anything here anymore. Really bummed out.

I got the jumbo kolaches. The sausage was big which was great and the bread was perfectly sweet. A bit more cheese would have made this 5/5! Definitely recommend if you like sausage kolaches with a good sausage to bread ratio.

Support your local businesses!!! This awesome neighborhood donut & kolache shop is seriously good! Love the local owners ... Always friendly, helpful, happy!! Great prices, lots of variety! I partial to the Large Sausage & cheese Kolaches, but the donuts are fantastic too!! ,

I've been going here for 5 years and never had a bad experience taste wise. Nice staff. A little sad this morning.??. My Apple fritter is not ready yet but my second best is the cinnamon roll. I love love the Apple Fritter ..its one of my favorite. It's not too sweet sweet..it's thick and delious.I'm there twice a week looking for my fritter and vitamin water.

I visit here quite often. A friendly neighborhood doughnut shop that offers your typical array of sweet and yummy along with other items such as croissants stuffed with bacon, eggs and cheese, doughy buns stuffed with boudin (highly recommend these) and even kolaches. Throw them a tip and I can pretty much promise you that they'll throw some sweet treats your way to return the favor. Owned by very nice people who always smile and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed.

They are always out of the Chapel Hill sausage kolaches. Since they sell out so early, seems like they would cook more each day. The other kolaches.... the weiners are just too salty! Apple fritter was over-fried.

Great big banana nut muffins for a $1.75. Not always ready though. Chapel Hill sausage kolaches. Neighborhood place, local owners ... Support your local businesses, your helping to support their family, not some multi millionaire chain owner ....

I keep telling myself to stop going here, bit it's the closest to my house. This, and Mr. K #2, have the same substandard, odd-tasting glazed donuts that are always a bit on the hard side. Their sausage kolaches are hot dogs and American cheese slices, and their breakfast tacos are instant eggs and hot dogs again. Their jelly donuts are skimpy with jelly, too. I'm done with these two places! Nice people, horrible food. I'm done today. New Owner: cheap food. Go to Shipley's for quality & taste or McDonald'

Kolaches are labeled as "sausage" but then have chopped up hotdogs inside absolutely disgusting. Donuts were good tho.

Me and my family have been going here for probably 16-15 years, and they are nice, friendly people who serve great food at great prices. I have never had a bad experience here, the only thing I don't like is that you need to pay cash only if its under 5 dollars. but hey I guess it'll help me get rid of spare change.

Love them!! Honestly they surpassed Shipleys Donuts, Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. An I've been going to those chains for years. Shipleys was my fav. But now its Mr.K for my donuts and Kolaches. The cake donuts are my go to every time. An the fact that the prices are always low just makes me a even bigger fan.

I live in the neighborhood so it's an easy stop for me and my family . their service is always amazing , the donuts are donuts (there's really not a wow factor) but they're priced reasonably and Ive always enjoy the kolaches. Overall they're wonderful !

First visit today but not my last. My new favorite close to home donut & kolache place. Bought a few varieties of donuts and kolaches. We loved everything. And friendly service too.

Best donuts ever with awesome service. We had two dozen donuts and kolaches, breakfast burritos everything was very good ??

Great places and nice selections. Fresh and warm donuts. Egg croissants are good.

Once was good, but now barely edible. Sausage kolaches or nothing but salt and just hotdogs not sausage
