Not worth the trip . Baguette was hard and felt old. croissant was flavorless Donut looked like they were sitting out for hours . And the girl behind the register was so emotionless and clearly didnt want to be there answering questions or helping anyone. Couldn't even bother to give a "have a nice day" .... Its a shame this place looks so cool I wanted to spend all my money here
Overrated. The Egg and cheese over brioche bun is Terrible. Like, if you told me they took it from the frozen aisle of ShopRite and reheated it in a microwave I'd believe so. Dry and stale and flavorless but comes with a price tag of $10. The donuts and croissant are okay ish. Wished their buttery notes were stronger. Not sure if I would choose the donuts over Krispy Kreme, again for the price per quality point. The Croissant from their partner down the street is more pliable than flakey and rather small.
Stopped in Monday morning to pick up 6 donuts with my daughter and we were very pleased with our choices-2 maple bacon donut-Nutella donut- a morning glory muffin and a mocha donut and apple cider donut. All lovely and very generous in size. I love that they?re not too sweet and I also appreciate how kind and gracious and attentive the owner was to everyone that entered the building. I will absolutely return when I?m in the area. I wish them well.
Montclair Bread Company knows how to do food right. Sat outside with my girlfriend and our two dogs, basking in the sun like royalty while devouring some top-tier eats. The outdoor space is perfect, but I?m still mourning the loss of their outdoor ordering window. Why retire greatness? The staff seemed like they were battling the final boss of brunch rush, but hey, they got the job done. Dogs were happy. Humans were happy. Will 100% be back.
Donuts to make your soul happy. Got the Oreo one and loved it. Very fresh and tasty. Next time I want to try the jelly. Good iced coffee as well. Get in my belly!!
Great donuts and some of the best pizza you'll have when they pop up! You need to check it out especially the pizza project NJ on Instagram. Love this place
Nice little place. We came to get donuts bc the reviews are so good but they were just stale. Maybe we came at the wrong time (early afternoon on a Sunday) but I feel like they should taste good and fresh any time. Everything else was good, iced latte was great and the croissants looked fabulous so we?ll try those next time.
Great staff, AMAZING ICE CREAM!! I got the sea salt caramel and it was so so good! They have vegan options too like the coffee cake with oat milk!
Loved the egg sandwich and also the vegan chickpea sandwich. The rainbow donut was amazing. Ample space to sit outside. Would have loved to see the umbrellas opened outside for an added touch. Great location.
Montclair Bread Co.?s donuts are insane! So soft, super tasty, and the flavors are next-level. 10/10, totally worth it!
This is a great rustic brick structure.. the different flavors of Doughnuts will amaze your taste buds. 22 different Ice Cream flavors to choose from.. this place will not let you down. The owner was very kind, Great atmosphere
I waited online for 30 minutes, asked if the doughnuts I liked were still available and they were, I waited another 10 minutes for my order to be packed, while watching customers after me pay and receive their much larger order. I finally see my order being packed and they removed one doughnut from order and give it to a guy who ordered after me. Then tell me they don?t have one of the flavors I wanted and ask me to pick another flavor. I will never be back. To watch them complete other much larger orders a
My daughters and I love to stop in a few times a week to buy a doughnut and have a cup of coffee. It's a really cool space and the pastries are delicious! Also we are excited to try their Pizza day (every other Sunday). Just need to get lucky enough to stop in on the right day.
Fantastic Donuts and Breads! Highly recommend if you?re looking for high quality baked goods! Staff was very friendly and the espresso was great!
I really wanted to like this place but my first visit was so disappointing given all the great reviews I read. This was a Sunday around noon. Got the apple cider doughnut but it was stale and dry. Ordered 2 regular iced lattes which took 25 minutes and several customers after me got their orders and left. By the time I asked about it, the place was empty with me just waiting. The reason for the wait was the person didn't know how to make the drink so just didn't make them (?) until the cashier came over to
Been coming here for years, and I absolutely love the donuts! The Nutella is one of my favorites, and I also love to try new things such as the s?mores and what was an amazing apple crumb! Real whip on top. I love the little details that really matters! If you haven?t been to this bakery, yet, you need to go, they also have sandwiches fresh baked bread, other things!
The staff here were all very kind and patient with me and I took forever to order. Luckily it was kind of empty when I went but it soon filled it up very quickly. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on a brioche bun and it came out amazing. The egg was fluffy and well seasoned. I used mozzarella cheese and that complemented everything beautifully. The space inside was a little small which could get crammed with people fast during the colder days but I imagine this place is amazing all the other seasons where y
There hasn?t been a single time we have come and had a pleasant experience. We come for the donuts but the customer service is horrendous. Staff doesn?t even acknowledge you when you come in. There?s always multiple minutes at a time that they aren?t helping anyone but not saying anything like ?give us a minute and we?ll be right with you?. It?s Mother?s Day and there is almost nothing left and the girls in there were just miserable. We just walked out. Forget the part that it?s filthy in there. You?re a sm
Easily some of the best doughnuts around. I'm glad they changed the name back too lol... Hopefully, this summer, they will make more summer berry doughnuts! They were sorely missed this year, and they've been my favorite.
Montclair Bread Company offers an exceptional array of delights that cater to diverse tastes. The selection of donuts is particularly impressive, ranging from timeless classics to seasonal specialties. Their inventive flavors, such as those reminiscent of childhood breakfast cereals like Fruity Pebbles, add a delightful twist to the traditional donut experience. Beyond donuts, their offerings extend to delectable croissants and, true to their name, a variety of freshly baked bread. The quality, creativity,
It?s such a shame this place does not live up to the hype. on a Saturday morning the service was painfully slow. The doughnuts were too bready, the toppings fairly flavorless the only redeeming feature was the coffee. The inefficiency and disorganization of the place kills anything positive they have going for them. The kicker is, this place is so popular despite all the shortcomings - so I guess why bother trying to improve.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Montclair Bread Company, and I must say, it was an absolute treat! From the moment I stepped inside, the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods enveloped me, promising a memorable experience. Let me share my highlights: Horchata Sourdough Donut: This unique creation was a revelation! The chewy texture combined with the subtle horchata flavor made it an excellent choice. A must-try for any adventurous foodie. Triple Chocolate Donut: If you?re a chocolate lover, this
There isn't much to the atmosphere, but the food has always been on point. They usually just have one person working at the counter. So when a large group goes in, it's a long wait. But it's worth the way, especially for their breakfast, sandwiches and their tres leches donut.
TLDR: fun array of flavors, unique sourdough donut texture, decent beverages with coffee iced cubes, cute outdoor area when it?s warm Longer description: Donuts/baked goods: There?s the usual vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles and the like, but the best baked goods IMHO are the yum bun (decadence in cinnamon sugar-rolled dough form) and mini Nutella donut. The donuts have a heavier texture than the usual yeast donut (but it?s not a cake donut either), and there are special flavor sourdough donuts (like
I love this place... the tres leche donut is amazing
I was in the mood for something sweet and wanted to try this spot while in the area. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked up to a cute outdoor seating bakery. I walked up and ordered the peanut butter donut with a very nice man. It came to about $4.25. I paid and left and when I got to my car I dug in and it was very tasty, messy but tasty. It was nice and thick and sweet. I enjoyed.
I went at 10:30am on a Sunday for the first time wanting to try the donuts. I will say that the chocolate mochi donut is one of the best donuts I?ve ever had. The other donuts I tried were just eh. They were too doughy and almost stale. I would not get the maple bourbon sourdoughnut again - that was the one I liked the least. The strawberry w sprinkles and the apple cider donut were just okay. The two little tables and chairs inside were smeared and covered in donuts sugar and grease. That was pretty gross
Deliciously moist baked goods. I had the tres leche and glazed donuts, as well as the blueberry and morning glory muffins; all yummy. The customer service was superb! There is limited parking available in the lot aside the bakery. Outdoor seating is also available. I will surely be back to try the infamous breakfast sandwiches. **the vegan sandwich is a waste of money. Just veggies (beets, carrot, hummus) on thick ciabatta bread; no protein for $7+
Donuts were just okay, not worth the price. They sell out really fast on weekend mornings, but I?m not really sure why. Donuts are overly chewy and while I know they?re baked fresh, they almost taste like they?re a day old. The employees are nice, but work incredibly slow so make sure you order online ahead of time. Sourdough bread loaf was good.
So much hype with super high expectations with this place. I have heard so much about Montclair Bread Company for so long and already had ot in my head that it was going to be amazing. Now I can only speak on the Donuts, this has nothing to do with the bread. Having tasted hundreds of Donuts at Bakerys around the state, I have been exposed to the best. The $3 Boston Cream donut here was good, not amazing. Was expecting so much more cream and the donut itself tasted more like a cream puff. The cinnabon was a
Not impressed by the two donuts I had, glazed and the triple jam. The glazed just didn?t have much flavor and they didn?t seem fresh. Sorry, but not worth the money.
Cozy little bakery for pastries and doughnuts! The doughnuts were around $5 each. The doughnuts are kinda sweet and are pretty big and filling. I do wish that they had some sort of bundle or discount when buying dozens or half dozens. Since all doughnuts vary by price, they explained they had no discount. I ended up getting an apple cider, mango, peach cobbler, and tres leches doughnut and a sour doughnut. Super yummy and great for those who have a sweet tooth!
I moved to the area 2 years ago and this has been the one place I can always rely on for delicious treats and great breakfasts. The baking classes for kids are also wonderful and my girls both learned so much while getting to bring home goodies for us.
I ordered two loaves of sourdough bread using the line app, which requires you to leave a tip when I showed up at the store shortly thereafter they had sold one of my loaves. They gave me a credit for the eight dollars for the missing Sourdough, but did not give me the credit for the mandatory tip The Sourdough was not up to my standards like the Sourdough from my Sourdough Dealer connection. Will not return
First and last.. the donuts were very hard, and dense, they tasted old. I spend over $38 for three donuts and a coffee cake ?? ?? ??, and three ?? ?? ?? and and grill cheese ??.. waste of my money..
Yummy donuts and wonderful staff and service at Rabble Rise Doughnuts. The flavors and use of sweet, sometimes salty, and savory makes each bite unique. The coconut, Boston creams, glazed are must too!
10/10 would recommend. The tres leches donut is a personal favorite but I haven't met a Montclair Bread Company donut i didn't love ??
Previously Montclair Bread Company, Rabble Rise is always a required stop for me when passing through Jersey. I kid you not, I will literally get off the highway just to scoop up some donuty goodness. Even more excited with the new, New Paltz location as it makes stopping that much easier. By far my favorite donuts in the area.
Loved the doughnuts and the coffee here, just missing chocolate milk. ?? actually, that's an inside joke. Check out chocolate milk & donuts on Google if you're into VR, and don't forget to bring your pup here and grab a breakfast doughnut. Great outside space, variety of delicious doughnuts, we will be back!
The caramel ice cream at Montclair Bread Co. is rich and creamy, with a deep, buttery caramel flavor. Perfectly smooth and just the right amount of sweetness definitely worth trying!
Tasty, fresh and quite large donuts at a great neighborhood spot. And really helpful customer service - it?s a birthday tradition for all 4 members of my household!
Fresh and flavorful, definitely recommend giving them a try. The tres leches donut is AMAZING!!! Their coffee is super delicious too!
Fantastic selection of donuts and fresh pastries - located in the heart of Montclair. A must visit!!!
The people taking your order are very nice and patient.. I came for the tres leches donut which was $4.50.. I recommend trying it at least once but if you had the cake, your not really missing out.. the glaze was good as well...
I thought this stop would just have been an average coffee experience but oh boy this place is a slice of heaven! A bit pricey, but for a good reason! The coffee is enough reason to wait in line. The bread is warm and softer than a cloud. We indulged in a Nutella and a Strawberry donut ?? with an iced coffee (that comes with coffee ice cubes). A wonderful breakfast spot to catch up with old friends! ??
Some donut items not available (including classic glazed donut) and it's only 11 AM.. Donuts were surprisingly not very sweet, which I think is a plus. Definitely on the pricey side, but nice atmosphere. Edit, in response to owner: If freshness is the goal, it might be better to bake more continually throughout the day. The ones we had (black forest and apple cider) were both definitely baked many many hours ago (again, at 11 AM).
Great doughnuts! Highly recommended it! Lots of different flavors. Some of them are for limited time only. Should get there early. The line can be long and the doughnuts do sell out!
I saw a video about this place and thought, ?I have to try it!? So, I went the following day. We ordered two sandwiches and two donuts. The bread for my sandwich was so hard that I could barely chew it, and the donuts were so bad that we couldn?t even finish them. So disappointed.
Three times in one month I?ve gone for mufflins and they?re out before 10am. Similar feedback from others. Seems if you?re constantly out of item you would plan to make more. Disappointing
This was my first visit to Montclair bread company! The doughnuts were good but a lot of the flavors I was looking forward too were already sold out. I would recommend going earlier than 12 to make sure you get your pick. The doughnuts we got were good, light and fluffy. My only note would be the speed of service, We waited in line for about 20 minutes and it took about 5-10 min for them to box up the doughnuts. Would visit again! Give it a try but make sure you've got some time to wait in line! EDIT IN RE
Tried out the doughnuts. Had my first ?sour? doughnut?maple bourbon. Definitely can taste the sour dough. Didn?t really taste the maple. I preferred my cousins Apple cider doughnut. I had a bite of the maple bacon and it was tasty too but not real mapley.
What to say about this place? There it goes my diet. Never been there but my hubby brought me this delicious pumpkin muffin and a apple/pineapple I think danish to die for. Sooooooo delicious and fluffy and flavorful. Sorry for the pic with bites on every little pc but my son decided to taste them all since they looked very very good. Definitely will go by and order some more pastries..yummy!!
Outstanding staff, delicious bread, amazing croissant egg and cheese sandwiches. We stopped in today to have one of their croissant egg and brie cheese sandwiches. After we received our order we sat outside and in the sunshine on the partially covered patio. You really need to stop in and enjoy a coffee and a donut or sandwich. And yes they bake a nice variety of breads. The ciabatta is my favorite.
I've been a regular for almost 3 years. Unfortunately, the place has gone downhill under new management. The food is still great but the service is spotty and getting worse every week. On top of that the layout makes for a bottle neck of bodies. I'm starting to think I need to find a new weekend place. Update 12/24. I placed an order last week for a variety of their holiday baked goods. These are all made to order items. Paid for them in advance. I got there to pick them up today just an 1/3 hour before
Me and my nice and nephew our first time there. Let me tell you that atmosphere there was good the server was helpful. We got the yum yum cinnamon bun that was so good we didn't finish it that's how big it is. You have to try it. We got other donuts that we going to try later. We are going back this going to be our favorite spot to for donuts ?? ??
Accidentally vegan sourdoughnuts yes please!! Beautiful texture + massive size + tasty flavors = 5 stars in my book. Pictured is the chocolate frosted, blueberry, and maple bourbon. Friendly staff and cute outdoor/indoor seating. Will definitely be back for more doughnuts!
Great local donut shop. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. The donuts are huge and taste great. We love trying their seasonal flavors. They always so creative with their selection.
Donuts were yummy. My son also enjoyed his strawberry ice cream. The young lady who scooped the ice cream was very nice. The lady who boxed the donuts and took payment was not very friendly. I tried striking up a conversation asking about the donut flavors but she barely wanted to give me answers. Told her i wad excited to try the donuts after seeing on TikTok but again no answer or interest. Customer service must not be her thing.
I?ve been going to this place for years and I love it!! The donuts are delicious! Everything else is amazing! The outdoors seating area is also very pleasant! I 100% recommend it! These are the last donuts we got a couple of days ago! :)
Montclair Bread Company is a hidden gem! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, from the fresh pastries to the perfectly brewed coffee. The space has such a warm, homey vibe that makes you want to stay and savor every bite. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. This place is a must-visit for anyone in the area!
I only purchased 2 doughnuts so I don?t want to leave less than 4 stars for such a small sampling of their products. But wow what a disappointment. $10 for 2 doughnuts! And I?m not lying when I tell you we took a bite of each and then tossed them in the garbage. I?m not a vegan but I eat everything and I?ve had vegan baked goods before that were delicious. This Sourdoughnut was basically like day old bread with fancy topping. The Irish Cream one was better but not amazing and for $4.50 I expected amazing
I just had the best cup of drip coffee I've ever had in Montclair. Completely unexpected! This place is known for its donuts and other baked goods, and I just went in because I discovered they had a coffee pot sitting in the corner and were open past 6. But what amazing coffee!
Fantastic bakery. We tried the homemade donuts and the 'fun bun'. Me and a friend could not finish it. Wish I lived closer so I could get their fresh bread daily. Wish there were more places like this around, but if your in the area, please stop by. They have great ice cream and coffee too. Great place to bring the kids-they have plenty of outdoor seating.
The staff is very kind and friendly, donuts and other offerings delicious, and atmosphere cozy with free WiFi!
Visited in mid-October on a weekend. While the entire establishment is very inviting and the outdoor seating is beautiful as are the doughnuts, I actually found the pastries to not be as good as I expected. I bought 10 and for $30, I?d expect these to be most delicious doughnuts I?ve ever eaten. Unfortunately, I found they were rather inconsistent in quality and by and large bready rather than moist. I suspect they are baked rather than fried given how dry they were even after just 24 hours. Naturally dough
Great flavors, kindest staff ever!!
Fantastic artisanal baked goods and refreshing made to order drinks. Can't beat them.
Friendly staff, awesome donuts & best muffin I think I've ever had! Only wish there was more space inside to sit & enjoy a coffee/ donut on a rainy day. Donuts are a bit pricey ($3- $4) but worth it ~ lots of unique flavors!
Best donuts my mother and I have ever had? and we?re from Boston. Everyone was super nice too.
The five I?m giving them is for the ambience. Doughnuts are good- one should be split between at least three people. They are fresh. The staff was very polite. The only issue- they don?t serve hot lattes. I don?t get that part. You have doughnuts and drip coffee- but no espresso or lattes? Moreover their selection of anything else is limited to bread and a breakfast sandwich. This is a place to grab a quick coffee and a doughnut and maybe relax for a few minutes.
The juice ain?t worth the squeeze sadly. Paid $10 for 2 doughnuts which were dense and fairly stale (which is surprising since we ordered at noon). Super nice staff but genuinely not worth the price or the 20 minute wait.
Update: My message to owner?s blas? response is attached via photo. Also other reviewers have reported to me that they aren?t able to see my photos I?m referring to, so not sure what owner has done with it with Google (deleted my photos?) I called ahead of time before I finalized checkout on their online order for pickup next day to inquire if dietary restrictions can be accommodated/vegetarian. The person whom I spoke with said that they understand the situation and to go ahead and place specifically on t
The staff was a bit aloof and overwhelmed with their list of tasks to do while tending to a line of customers? I feel for that but the orange juice we ordered online (supposed to be Natalie?s fresh squeezed OJ) ended up being a Tropicana. Also the cold brew we ordered was not ready upon pickup and took about 5 minutes to make and was mainly milk? the donuts are good don?t get me wrong. A better experience to be made is the reason for the rating.
Quality products not found in any corporate chain. Dedicated people bringing the best products.
I've been here dozens of times and loved getting donuts decided today to try a breakfast. Placed an order ahead online it was not ready when I arrived 5 minutes after pick up time despite the place being empty so early in the morning. The cold brew was awful and the spicy breakfast sandwich which was supposed to have jalape?os and no meat came with no jalape?os and bacon (the person eating it is a vegetarian). Very disappointed!!
I had hopeful expectations in trying their goods for the first time due to the high ratings and some recommendations. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. The peanut butter and chocolate cookies tasted a but like dried dirt and the nutella and boston creme donuts at $4 a piece, barely had any filling in it and the iced coffee wasn't great and had one iced cube in it. So sad because I really wanted to like it!!
OMG! If you?re ever in Montclair, this is the spot to come to for donuts, coffee, sandwiches, bread, ice cream, deliciousness, energy and all kinds of good vibes and goodness! Yum yum yummy!
I was so excited to try this place out after reading all the rave reviews on the internet. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I chose to try the brioche bun which turned out to be stale but it did taste like it had potential when fresh. I also purchased 3 [pricey] donuts: dulce the leche, Nutella and maple bacon. All didn't taste fresh. Tres leche was the most dissapointing ...I am Spanish and have tasted my fair share of delicious homeade tres leches cake and this didn't even have a hint of rese
I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2 PM, hoping to try the well-reviewed donuts. I sampled the Tres Leches, vanilla with sprinkles, strawberry with sprinkles, and a triple jam-filled powdered donut. Unfortunately, each was more disappointing than the last?dry, hard, and bland. I was particularly let down by the Tres Leches, which I can?t believe won an award. Maybe the quality has declined over time. I dislike criticizing local businesses, but these donuts were so unappetizing that my kids actually spit
Great place to get your doughnut and bread fix. Can't wait to make it back to try some of their wood-oven baked breakfast pizzas.
Friendly service and a smart, outdoor pandemic setup. The breakfast pizza was really good, but the star of the show was the maple bacon doughnut. Texturally, the doughnut is about as perfect as it gets. The maple and bacon add a perfect balance of sweet and salty to compliment that.
Donuts are expensive but delicious. I've tried, glazed, maple bacon (favorite), chocolate frosted, apple cider, jelly, and fruity pebble. They also offer coffee (not a fan), breakfast sandwiches, bread, pastries, drinks and some savory bread foods. The staff/service is super friendly and orders are processed fairly quickly. They offer the option of ordering ahead thru their website which is a good option because things sell out quickly. You should absolutely stop by for the brioche donuts if you're anywhere
Natia was there when we stopped in and she was amazing! Her incredible personality and magnetic smile lit the room up. Her ice cream recommendations were spectacular and truly helped me have the perfect dessert. The doughnuts were phenomenal and the bread was amazing. Natia helped my niece with some choices in such a kind and caring way that I told her she had made the Montclair Bread shop my new favorite dessert shop.
The doughnuts was amazing, we got the Just chocolate and Fruity pebbles.
I just picked up my order of Ube donuts. This is not an ube donut. It?s nothing like the photo you post . This is misleading and false advertising. First of all it isn?t a purple color like Ube which is in the photo .Then next it doesn?t even taste like ube. And finally it?s not supposed to have chocolate on it. I?m very disappointed and dissatisfied. I paid $21 for chocolate donuts instead of ube Donuts. Did you guys run out of it then gave us this instead?
Unfortunately, I only got to try the donuts ony trip here though their breads and pastries looked amazing, too. The coffee was delicious and though it was busy, the guy who waited on my was patient with me and super friendly. Whenever I'm in Montclair, I'll definitely be back.
Great food, amazing service and the inside is even better
The service is great. The donuts taste like bread.
