MoDo Hawaii

Reviews Summary

The mochi donuts receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, with most reviews praising their fresh-made quality, unique flavors, and perfect texture (crispy outside, chewy inside). Black sesame, pandan, matcha, and lilikoi (passion fruit) are frequently mentioned favorites. While some find them pricey ($2-$15/half dozen) or occasionally too sweet, the consensus highlights their exceptional taste and consistency. Negative reviews focus on service mishaps or sold-out items. The donuts are best enjoyed warm, with many considering them superior to traditional donuts. Minor criticisms include portion size and occasional flavor mix-ups, but most agree they're worth the indulgence.

I love their mochi donuts!!! Super delicious and I ordered it via DoorDash and it was still warm when I got it! The matcha, earl grey, and chocolate ones are really good! Haven?t tried their cookie flavor and sesame flavor but they look yummy already

I am not not a big mochi donut eater - my wife and daughter are. BUT I have to say MoDo mochi donuts are delicious. In particular, their donuts can easily pinched apart so you can enjoy one round 'bump' at a time.

Cute place for a quick snack. Love that the dohnuts are made to order! The staff was amazing and flavors really hit the spot. Definitely a spot worth trying!

If you like fresh hot mochi donuts Modo Hawaii is good for it. There are no pre-made donuts on display for sale. When you order the staff will make and dip fresh hot mochi donuts for your order. I like that they're not too sweet. You can also buy drinks, ice cream and poke bowls. Just make sure you bring some wet wipes as the donuts can get messy to eat from the icing but still really tasty.

If you like mochi donuts, I don't think you need to try these unless you are trying to catch them all. The dough of the mochi donuts are all the same so you are simply paying for different glazes. Now, those I find to taste quite similar but I don't have the most refined taste buds. But I did notice the texture of the icing to be more sticky than solid. It is probably due to the donut surface having gobs of oil. As for service and cleanliness, the other critical reviews have said it all. There are also no

My favorite place for Mochi Doughnuts!!! Fresh made after you order them. Light, Soft, warm, and delightful Flavors!! They also offer delicious ice creams and other drinks here too. All of the flavors are great but some of my favorites are Hawaii Passion Fruit( Lilikoi ), Pandan, Matcha, Ube, and Black Sesame. Glad I get to try the new Pumpkin Spice for the Holidays Season??

Sweet workers! Donuts are always delicious when I come by. Not overly sweet and different variety. Bought a dozen for Valentines day.

Went yesterday, and wow?Modo Hawaii absolutely delivered! We tried Cookies and Cream, Ube, Apple Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice, Milk Chocolate, and Pandan. Now, full disclosure: I?m not even a ?sweet tooth? person, but these flavors hit differently. Every bite was a vibe, but Pandan and Ube were total standouts. The interior is super cute, too, with fun anime-inspired artwork and a cozy vibe. The staff took the time to explain every flavor, which made it even harder to choose (in the best way). Honestly, these

I'll be honest: I'm not a fan of donuts. When offered a donut, I'm one of those people who says, "No thanks." I don't like the taste that lingers in my mouth after the first bite. However, this was a completely different experience. These donuts are made to order, not greasy, and are golden to perfection, light, and "melt in your mouth." The selection of flavors is plentiful enough not to be overwhelming but enough so you can try one of each. The amiable staff works hard to prepare your order as quickly as

I came around 6:30 pm and ordered the tiramisu mochi donut. The staff was very friendly and made my donut fresh to order. It was the first time trying a mochi donut that was still hot. The fresh mochi donut was really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, not as chew as when it is cooled down. I was a bit surprised when I bit into it as I was expecting it to be soft and chewy all around. I think I preferred my donut cooled down a bit more as the flavors would settle and would be more chewy. I think

We try to stop in when we are in the area. Solid mochi donuts. This last time we ordered a few and instead of the cookies and cream, they mistakenly gave us tiramisu, which wasn?t our fave. Didn?t realize they gave us the wrong flavor till later. Now we know! ????

Modo Hawaii has the best mochi donuts! My absolute favorites are the strawberry, black sesame, and churro, but they offer so many delicious flavors to choose from. Every donut is perfectly chewy and flavorful?definitely my go-to spot for a sweet treat. Hands down the best donut spot around!

I recently visited Modo Hawaii in San Jose, and the donuts were absolutely delicious! They are made fresh to order, so you have to wait about 5 minutes, but it's definitely worth it. The freshness and flavor are unbeatable, and if you have the time, I highly recommend giving them a try. The wait only adds to the experience, knowing you're getting something made just for you. I'll definitely be back!

I recently ordered donuts for a work event and everyone loved the donuts. I used doordash, and they arrived in a timely manner, still warm! So so delicious. I highly recommend the lilikoi, black sesame, cookies and cream, and churro flavors.

Everyone has their favorite - I?m a total Ube fan - matcha and likikoi are good - cookies and cream if you get bored - can?t really go wrong here - they are pricey but they have discounts midday - 10-noon I think

Hands down the BEST mochi donut around. My quest for the perfect mochi donut is over! Super friendly accommodating staff. FRESH cooked to order is worth the wait to get that perfect outer crunchy texture paired with the soft inner with a little chew. The glaze while sweet isn't ridiculously sweet like others I've tried. Love that you can get them plain for those that can't have extra sugar too! Checkout Instagram for the current flavors of give them a call. Choices rotate. Give them a try. They are amazing!

Melt in your mouth best mochi donuts I?ve had! I?ve never had ones that were straight out of the fryer but that?s how I got them here and they were so freaking good!! When warm the sauce melts a bit over them compared to when it settles and has cooled down. I don?t know if I can eat them another way anymore. Even after a couple hours they were still a really good mochi donut. I got the lilikoi (passion fruit) and pandan flavors. Both super good!! Not too sweet and I really like the fruity tang of the lilik

I like their Lilikoi mochi donuts and Ube ice cream. The dark chocolate donut is my second favorite. Lilikoi ice cream tastes like mild mango ice cream. Donuts are made to order. Best when eaten fresh while still warm; a bit crispy outside and soft and chewy inside.

This place is so cute and I love the anime art on the wall! I came here around 8am in the morning so there was no line to pick the donuts. I was surprised that they actually made them fresh and that the donuts were nice and hot when I picked them up.

MoDo?s mochi donuts are phenomenal if you like mochi! The texture of fluffy yet sticky on the inside, and the flavored dip on the outside is very on point! My favorites are by far the matcha and black sesame ones. Best part is that these donuts are always warm and fresh every time I get them! They also often have special flavors like strawberry matcha or pandan - highly recommend trying! Pretty quick service, and there is seating right outside as well.

Amazing mochi donuts! Their donuts come in many different flavors, and this time I ordered chocolate. Super delicious and flavorful, and I would highly recommend Modo due to the great experience and tasty donuts.

Donuts are really light and airy and crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. The icing flavors are very good. The drink flavors are exotic like Pandan or Ube or Matcha. Just a fun place to have dessert and drinks. I think they could use a smaller container for one donut however to save plastic ?? ??.

So excited they finally have a store front in the Bay Area! Been a fan of this place when it first opened a pop up in mitsuwa. It makes all the difference when you eat these fresh. They're constantly making fresh donuts in the back and even when you go to the store to order they freshly dip them. It gets a little messy with glazes because the donut is still warm but it is worth it. Donuts are soft and chewy while the glaze and sugar add just the right amount of sweetness. You can order online (at least 1

A nice twist on traditional donuts, they have unique flavors as well. I found them to be a bit too sweet for my preference, however quite good. For $2 per donut, the size was a little too small. They are freshly made and better when still warm. I wouldn?t go back regularly but will definitely indulge in some when I have a sugar craving.

The donuts are fresh and made to order with delicious sauces and toppings. Pandas is a favorite between the kids and adults. Ordering online was easy and pickup was quick. They have separate lines for online preorders and walk-ins. There was only 1 person ahead of us on a Saturday morning pick up.

Best donuts I?ve ever had in the states. Everything was handmade, so you got to wait if you didn?t place the order beforehand. They had some special flavors, not on their regular menu. The one I had was taro. I loved the sesame the most cuz it wasn?t too sweet but flavor-wise was really good.

Was craving the mochi consistency and didn?t want ice cream so why not donuts?! Good selection of different flavors. Pretty filling (they?re donuts, after all) so they?re definitely good to share!! The matcha and black sesame were great, as was the seasonal strawberry!

Best mochi donuts ever! What makes this place great is that they make the donuts fresh with every order, so you?re pretty much guaranteed to get fresh, crispy, airy donuts every time. It?s also surprisingly affordable compared to other donuts (mochi or regular) both in the Bay Area / SoCal (as of this post, the donuts were about $2.60 I think). Favorite toppings include: - Matcha: creamy and thick with strong matcha flavor - Lillikoi (passionfruit): creamy with strong passionfruit flavor, tart in a good wa

Came here to take advantage of their current deal - buy a drink and get a mochi donut for free! I saw they had the ube soy latte and just had to try it! For $5.50, it's a pretty good deal. I didn't quite taste the ube in my soy latte but it does have a delicious sweet taste. I also wasn't sure if I'm supposed to get any coffee in the latte... but I didn't taste any. It was a satisfying cold sweet drink anyway! For my free donut, I got a green tea matcha flavor one. It was freshly fried so it was very crispy

I like their mochi donut. If you get them warm, so good. I tried a few flavors, and my favorites are sesame and lilikoi. My kids like cookie&cream and strawberries. I think the flavor can be improved because not enough real pandan flavor and that the fake scary green color just doesn't look good.

Super delicious mochi donuts! Some of the flavors are really good, such as matcha, and passion fruit. Ube flavor was not very strong. The donuts themselves are all the same and flavors come from the dipping. I like them because they are not as sweet as a regular donut and the chewiness of mochi is very fun to eat. I would have rated them 5/5 if I didn't get my donuts 15 minutes after my preorder pick up time:( This place does get quite busy so be prepared to wait a bit!

Exited to try this place from seeing social media posts. Sadly the only good thing I have to report is that the donut was hot. The service was poor, I waited in a line for a while with just one person in front of me as the one and only employee. There was busy filling online orders and not even taking ours. If that?s the case, then they should have more employees. The latte I ordered did not even have coffee in it and was extremely sweet. And the place does not even have a trashcan inside for customers to t

BEST MOCHI DONUTS EVER. They were fresh out of the fryer and the flavors were strong and not too sweet. The wait wasn?t too long either. Highly recommend the pandan and black sesame donuts! Heads up that the lilikoi does have a sour kick to it, but I found it nice :) There is only seating outside, but the inside is well-kept - I liked the wall art and the artwork sold on the side. Must try if you have a sweet tooth (and even if you don't have one) !! I will never have another mochi donut anywhere else?

The donuts are off the charts! Particularly, the lilkoi flavored donut was just the right sweetness with a little fruity tang on the glaze. The texture of the donut although different from a regular donut just as delicious, if not more so. Really killed the sweet tooth craving and ended the evening right! Everyone enjoyed their selections. Would recommend!

If you come early they currently have a discount for a half dozen so it's pretty nice. Freshly made and tastes solid. Worth the pricing if you come early.

Donuts made fresh practically, so warm and moist. Drinks are delicious too. Service is quick and friendly. Parking is the trickiest and can be tight.

I love their mochi donuts, especially the matcha and taro ones. They?re not too sweet. So delicious when it?s fresh! It?s warm and crispy!! So good!

Best Mochi Donuts in the Bay Area. Made to order fresh and hot. Most mochi donuts places, the donuts are already made and who knows how long they have been sitting out for. I've had my share of hard, day or two old donuts and this is not that place. They make them to order. I was in heaven getting these fresh, hot, chewy mochi donuts right out of the oil. Can't beat it. Loved them and will be back over and over again.

Was so stoked to try these donuts! Haven?t ever had an opportunity to snag this type of donut in Texas, and the flavor profiles they offer aren?t the norm down here either. We went for a half dozen with a variety of flavors. The Black Sesame was insanely good! But we found the coconut and passion fruit to be our favorites!

Now that I've had Modo mochi donuts, I'll never eat any other. Lol I've had other mochi donuts and was not impressed. These were made fresh and very flavorful. Even the next day after being heated in the air fryer, they were still light and flavorful. I'm a forever fan. Got matcha, chocolate, churro, cookies and cream, pandan and earl grey. ALL YUM.

Been to this Modo location a few times now. This time around, ordered ~18 donuts. You get a slight discount if you order more than a dozen. I had the staff add a few of each flavor so that I could get a variety. Me personally, I enjoy the churro one the most. I'm not the biggest fan personally of the frosting on most desserts, but everyone I brought the donuts to all enjoyed it! The location can definitely get busy during off hours since there may be less staff working. I've been a few times, so it could

Please don't ever close down. This is the only place that makes hot fresh donuts made to order, and that makes all the difference compared to all these other mochi donut places with stale donuts sitting out all day long. I go here every month to try new flavors. I heard the one in Hawaii closed down, hope this location doesnt!

First time having these. I had the cookies and cream + many of flavors. Nice staff. Prices a little high for ingredients served. Reminds me of homemade donuts. Very nice and clean area. Seating outside.

Went here after seeing this place on YouTube. This place does not disappoint, the people who work there are super nice. The donuts are made to order and super fresh. When you get your order it is piping hot. I liked all the flavors couldn't really tell you which one is my favorite lol.

I would rate the food but I can?t, we called to see if they had poke left, and instead of simply looking to see if they had it, they said ?please order online, we can?t take phone orders? so we did, drove across town. Only to arrive and be told that they were sold out, AFTER we placed an online order and they took our money. We CALLED to ask and instead of turning hair heads to the left to see if they had poke left they chose not to look, not to do their job, wasted our time, took our money and then when we

They REALLY need to get a self checkout. The employees struggle between making dough, frying it, adding icing and taking orders. I think the employees would appreciate one less task that interrupts their whole process.

They make them fresh made to order without a long wait. They are delicious, not too sweet and so worth the try. I?ve even had them in Japan and they are so similar!! They have specials and we tried the sour plum flavor and it was so awesome and tasted like Chinese plum but subtle! Review of flavors: Black sesame - my favorite. Not too sweet. So much flavor !! Lilikoi - a bit sweeter but second best Matcha - tastes like real matcha!! Churro - no glaze so not too sweet Raspberry - sweetest but still good

The only one left. First time trying this place was in Hawaii. I'm glad they kept a location open. Mochi donuts are bomb. All the flavors they got are good. rotating seasonal flavors. Service is fine. It's very casual. Overall: will return for mochi donuts

Maybe come here for the donuts? Idk. I saw this advertised on Instagram. The place is warm inside. Almost humid. I saw the post?its saying they were Sold Out of almost everything. The cashier was waiting for me to order so I politely asked what she recommends since it seems most of it is sold out.. at 12pm on a Monday.. she said ?We have everything.? She watched as I scraped the sticky notes off to even be able to read the menu. The atmosphere itself is not what I expected. Most asian cafes are clean. The w

Sorry nothing to see here folks! Empty box because I ate them all before arriving home only 10 mins away ?? The most delicious donuts I've had the pleasure of meeting...I mean eating! I'll try not to get addicted but honestly I don't mind if I do, I mean, I wanna do my part to keep them here, keep them in business ya know????? It's a tasty job but somebody's gotta do it. 3-word description...Wow Wow Wow!!!??

Soooo darn delicious, holy smokes. Crunchy on the outside, soft within, and the flavours were unique and so tasty. Black sesame was the fan favourite for us! I just love how easy these are to share, just pull them apart and carry on! Plus, grab them between 8-9 and a half dozen was only 10$

I love their donuts! They make them only when you order. Really fresh with crispy outside and nice chewy inside.

We got the matcha, cookies and cream, and black sesame flavours. Made fresh and so DIVINE! Unique design allows for sharing. Doughnut is soft, fluffy, and deliciously chewy. We will definitely be coming back for more ?? just WOW

So so delicious! Freshly made and quick service. At most was a 10 minute wait. I recommend the ube latte and the matcha, pretty decent flavor and not too sweet! Today I had pandan and churro. Delicious too!

As a long-time fan of MoDo donuts ever since they set up a pop-up shop in Mitsuwa, I was extremely excited to learn that they now had a brick and motar store. MoDo is here to stay! If you're curious about their flavor options, you can easily check what's their everyday flavors as well as their rotating flavors via their website. When you go to their website be sure to select the correct store location so you can get the most up-to-date flavor information. They usually have about 5 or 6 every day flavors wi

As a Winston-Salem native my wife said something sacrilegious while eating a donut. "Better than Krispy Kreme" (ws is home of kk). They make a delicious donut.

For a company that?s donuts depends on presentation they should probably do better. Probably start by training their staff better. The donut dough was also too dry and their malasadas too doughy and not enough filling. Save yourself the trouble and go to another place to get some mochi donuts.

I ordered Uber eats and my colleagues kept asking me where I bought these donuts! This place never disappoints me! Highly recommended! Love black sesame and Lili koi the most! I mean others are pretty good too!

I?m a huge fan of modo. I?m glad there?s a reservation option now and we don?t have to wait 30-60 minutes anymore. I hope this spot gets a lot of customers and my favorite flavor is dark chocolate. I want dark chocolate on the daily rotation. All the flavors are good. I recommend this spot especially if you?ve never had mochi donuts.

This is officially my new favorite doughnut spot. First off, they're made fresh to order/when you take your first bite they're still warm! I ordered, they fried and glazed them in front of me, and omg you can taste how good they are FRESH. I'll absolutely be coming back here! Staff is also friendly, quick payment, space is clean, and lots of parking.

My favorite mochi donuts in the Bay Area. Made to order, fresh, and chewy.

Delicious donuts; japan mister donut anyone? Though, because of covid, you will have to wait if you plan on buying any during peak times. Also, some flavors are only available on certain days so be sure to check the website and see if the one you want is available.

Online order for Cyber Monday deal. 6 donuts for $10. Freshly made after arriving and selecting the flavors.

How cute are these donuts?! Awesome flavors too - highly recommend the lilikoi and sesame. The best part is its texture - just the right amount of chewiness, they're addictive! ??

These are the best donuts I?ve had in a long time. Black sesame and matcha were my Favorite but all of them were amazing.

Love mochi donut. It?s fresh and warm. My favorite is black sesame. Passion fruit is good too. Will go back to try ube.

Probably not the dozen donuts you buy everyday since they are double the prize of your cake or raised donuts. You buy these donuts because you want to indulge on the weekend and you can spare the extra calories. These are so light you'll quickly eat half a dozen and reflect on what just happen and how you let yourself go like that. But it's the weekend, who cares. They are made fresh, so you'll have to wait a bit for them to be glazed and flavored with what's on tap for the day. More reason to eat them as

I always love their donuts but the way they do their promo is just shady. Their price list says $23 for a dozen but during the promo, they're charging individual donut pricing even if you purchase a dozen. So instead of $20.7 (10% off $23), you'll be charged $21.6 per dozen which is $1 less saving per dozen. I tried to escalate to the manager but they said there's no one they can escalate to and just ask if I want to cancel the transaction instead. Definitely don't appreciate such dishonest business practic

I don?t like donuts personally, but after my first MoDo in Hawaii, MoDo really changed the way I see donuts. The matcha and the black sesame always satisfied my sweet treats desire.

The donuts are made warm and dipped in front of you. They?re on the pricey side, but so delicious.

When they?re still warm, the donuts are perfection! The texture is perfectly chewy and bouncy. The flavors are bot too sweet ? just right!

So tasty and novel! They make the donuts to order and the fresh, warm treats are worth the wait. They?re only accepting card payments right now. Our favorite flavors were plain, black sesame, pandan, churro, and lilikoi (passion fruit). We went to their pop-up shop this past summer and are so excited they have a brick and mortar location now.

Fresh and made to order. They had 7 flavors, and they were all delicious. Suggest grabbing 2 of each, cut in half or quarters, take to a get together, and try all the flavors without feeling as guilty lol

The tiramisu mochi donut was one of the best flavors I tried. Loved trying all the different flavors.

Best mochi donuts I?ve ever had - and I?ve come multiple times and they?re always consistent

Yea they finally have dedicated store in Santa Clara. I usually did online order when they?re were at Saratoga Mitsua market. I decided to just walked in on Monday. There was a line but it moved very fast. You make the order and they prepared immediately so it?s warm and fresh. Highly recommendation. We are back for more modo ??????

I seldom write reviews, but the guy serving me was super chill and nice. Made the donuts fresh, which seems to be the norm. Add to that, donuts were really good.

Friendly staff, freshly made donuts, love that they offer plain ones at half price, great treat for kids if you care about their sugar intake.

Not bad...especially the chocolate and cookies and cream! I DO NOT recommend the yellow (Leiliki) flavor at all. Pretty pricy too - $15/half dozen. Fun when you're craving a sweet treat.

Light, chewy, and not super sweet - [warm and fresh] mochi donuts are a joy to eat! The black sesame and matcha flavors are top notch

Best mochi donuts! Soft, chewy, and flavorful. Black sesame is our favourite.

delicious fresh donuts with a fun variety of flavors! we came right before closing and they even gave us a couple free malasadas. one of the best mochi donut franchises out there

The best mochi donuts we?ve ever had!!! Sooo crunchy, chewy, flavourful.

Super friendly staff. Order some donuts coming out fresh. Light and crispy with delicious flavors. Tiramisu was amazing, as was the cookies and cream. Definitely a different style than I'm used to from other Mochi donut shops, as I enjoyed these donuts much more.

Can?t recommend this shop enough! Best mochi donuts I?ve ever had and quality is very consistent. Donuts are always made fresh so you get a crispy outside and warm chewy inside. Matcha and black sesame are my favorite - very flavorful but not too sweet.

Good variety of mochi donuts. We tried matcha, chocolate, passion fruit, oreo flavors, all of them are good, with matcha stand out. They smell really good, we were so ready to dig in that we forgot to take photos.

I love mochi doughnuts! They are fluffy and crispy at the same time...melt in mouth and has chew to it! Love it...the flavours are fab too! Black sesame, passion fruit and raspberry for the win ??

The best mochi doughnuts I?ve ever had!!! They?re perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. My favourite flavours are the black sesame, matcha, ube and lilikoi. The staff are also really friendly. I would highly recommend this place!
