?? Chocolate Mochi Delight: I decided to try the chocolate mochi donut here, and it was fantastic! The texture was wonderfully chewy and soft, and the chocolate glaze was really tasty. Even as someone who doesn't usually go for mochi, I thoroughly enjoyed this treat. ?? Would Return: If I find myself in the Mountain View area again, grabbing another one of their mochi donuts will definitely be on my list. It was a delicious and satisfying snack.
Really nice texture but extremely sweet (even for my sweet tooth). Taro, black sesame and matcha were great (in that order).
Great donut! Flavors were on point and delicious. Loved the grapefruity one though i forgot its name.
If you're gonna commit the sin of eating a donut at least get one from a superior shop like this place. Very light batter and low on sugar, these treats are a guilty pleasure but not nearly as bad for you as a ?mainstream? American donut. Their chocolate and strawberry donuts were perfect and go well with Japanese tea or a regular latte. Excellent service here; love this place!
Mochi donuts are a unique type of donut, super soft, and fluffy and there are over 25 flavors to choose from. A higher price point than your average donut but is worth it. Highly recommend it on any day of the week!
First time try and so delicious ??. I took around 15 minutes to get in line on weekends. The mochi donuts are chewy texture. I tried black sesame / matcha and taro with dried coconut ??. Those were great ??. Highly recommended
Delicious pastry to enjoy after a delicious meal in Japan Town! The matcha was delicious, as was the cinnamon and fruity pebbles! Something about mochi texture and consistency makes this taste better than any doughnut ever before.
Mochi donuts are made with rice flour which gives these donuts their light and chewy texture. The flavours lean towards more typical Asian flavours which I love! For instance you?ll find flavours like taro, black sesame, and matcha. 6 for $18, otherwise the donuts are $3.30-$3.50 each. No wait at all during the week around lunchtime.
Heartbroken experience--biting into a waffle from Mochill Mochi Donut broke my front tooth due to a hidden pebble! After my son purchased a waffle from their store in San Francisco's Japan Town, I bit into it and encountered a hard object-- a piece of sand or stone--which resulted in my front tooth chipping and a cut on my lip. This occurred just before my daughter's graduation, and due to dental appointment delays in SF, I cannot have it repaired in time. The presence of a foreign object in their food rais
These mochi donuts are delicious.. they?re chewy and sweet. Prices range from $2.00-$2.50. After that, it would be 6 for $12 and 12 for $24 I believe. Out of all the flavors they had, I think my favorite would have been the matcha milk. Pictured (top to bottom) ? Matcha Milk ? Fruity Pebbles ? Pumpkin Pie ? Chocolate ? Kinako ~ soybean powder
I had never heard of a mochidonut before! We saw a girl walk by with them and decided we had to check them out! .... And now I can't imagine my life without them! Chewy, sweet, these are AAAAMAZING! I highly recommend trying as many flavors as you can! So yum!
Very soft and chewy mochi donuts! There was always line but it was fast and smooth. Tried out their black sesame, matcha, taro with dried coconut, and chocolate flavors. They were still nice and fluffy the next day! My favorite were chocolate and black sesame. Highly recommended.
I found an inch long metal needle (stapler like) in my matcha waffle. Food is average and cold but didn?t expect much since it is franchise brand and it was the last one left on the shelf. Staff was average as well. But I found a metal needle while chewing and I could have injured myself if I swallowed without noticing. Terrible food safety.
Love, love, love! Favorite flavors were Berry Berry and Dark Chocolate, but Nutella and Cinnamon Sugar are close runner ups. I thought the texture was a little like a cruller (my favorite). Ordered online and picked up at their pickup stand in the Peace Plaza in under 10 minutes (during the summer of covid). Will definitely go back when I can!
Light and fluffy donuts which literally melt in your mouth. These mochi donuts are a variant of the regular donuts we eat, but are so soft and not as sweet which is a huge win in my books. Got the chocolate, cinnamon and soya bean donuts. The bean one was meh but the cinnamon and chocolate were really good. Strongly recommend. Lines were long. This place is located in the closed malls in Japantown.
I've had a bunch of different mochi waffles and donuts and whatnot because I love mochi so much. But it never really feels like mochi to me when it's mixed with another baked good. Mochi waffles taste like just regular waffles to me. BUT THESE ARE SO GOOD OMG. They're not good the next day, so eat them same day. But eating them the day they're made? Pure magic. The matcha was by far my favorite of this variety pack I had, but we liked the strawberry, salted caramel, and reese's flavor too. The strawberry is
We ordered a cookies and cream doughnut, and a matcha. I did not enjoy the experience, the line took over 45 minutes. If I can choose between a regular cake donut, or mochi donut - I?m definitely going to choose cake. The mochi does add that expected gelatinous texture however the icing has no thickness it melts just in your fingers it?s not good. the actual mochi cake I don?t know what the point of the bulb shaped ring is. However The mochi doughnut is a very unique idea and a lot of people do like it so i
I got the strawberry mochi donut. Yummy and chewy and looked cute.
Love the mochi donuts from here! They aren't cheap, but the chewy mochi dough is so good and definitely worth it for a treat every once in awhile. The Black Sesame flavor is the best! I love the variety of flavors they have, as well as the seasonal flavors they come out with. Staff are helpful and informative on which flavors were the limited seasonal ones.
The staff was really nice and polite and that's definitely important. However, these didn't live up to the hype. I guess I shouldn't trust reviews. I traveled to this place specifically because i had been wanting to try it. They're like weird chewy cakes with frosting. I understand they're not supposed to resemble classic donuts and I'd be fine with that if they were good, but I just didn't like the texture. To think I carefully carried a box of these home just for them to be "meh" is so sad ??. I had to st
i tried the fruity pebbles mochi donut on a whim because it looked good, and i definitely was not disappointed! i was half expecting it to be a regular donut but there is actually mochi on the inside. it?s sweet but not sickly and the texture is great! also at only about $3.50 each it?s not a bad price.
Happiness. The taste, the colors, the texture. The donuts here are amazing. They don?t feel oily and are not too heavy as a result. I liked the black sesame, strawberry, and matcha flavors. They keep well in the fridge and are delicious when toasted!
Ordered a matcha, black sesame, and a dark chocolate donut. Extremely unique texture made with mochi flour and it?s unlike any donut you?ve ever had before. Lovely the nice chewy texture and the unique shape is fun as well. As for the toppings, the dark chocolate and black sesame were my favorite. Not as big of a fan of the matcha although it was still good and my friend who liked matcha said it was tasty.
Delicious mochi donuts and they are so different than your typical donut. Highly recommend the matcha and chocolate!
this was my first time trying mochi donuts and they?re completely different from normal donuts - get them especially when they?re warm and fresh when the glaze isn?t fully hardened - they?re chewy and flavorful ?? - i liked the matcha flavor the most
Currently this is the only spot with mochi doughnuts in San Francisco that I know of, and unfortunately that means long lines. Imagine my surprise when I walked by in Japantown one Saturday and there were only ten or so people in line. I hopped in line to try them, as mochi doughnuts are my favorite type of doughnut. This place offers classic flavors such as chocolate and matcha, along with seasonal specials like dark chocolate and berry. In general, the dough is tasty and perfectly chewy, though a little c
May be my new addiction?! I was pleasantly surprised at how chewy and tasty these are ?? they?re not super duper sweet like a traditional donut which I really love. I?d never had the kinako flavor before but I actually ended up loving the slightly sweet, nutty flavor of it (almost like a peanut butter)! Yum!
Extremely unique pop up shop in Japantown! I got dragged into this line when I randomly saw people lined up and wanted to see the hype and had time to kill. I also love both mochi and donuts and just had to try it! You?ll probably be waiting in line for 20-30 minutes as I did on Saturday at 3 pm but most of the wait is due to people buying boxes of 12 or 24. I got the taro flavor and absolutely loved it. It?s warm, it?s flakey, but chewy and leaves you wanting more bites! I don?t usually like donuts but lov
Mochi doughnuts are better than regular doughnuts. You have to try this doughnuts. The place is small and clean, it usually has a line but it goes by fast. They have different flavors and options to try. I would recommend this place, especially if your a tourist.
Loved the matcha mochinut- light, warm, chewy, and not overly sweet. The frosting on top is creamy and smooth. $2.50 for one is a great price. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors.
Stood in line for 30 minutes, but it was worth it! Wow! We loved these donuts...not too sweet but great flavors. We got one of each offered flavors and like them all. Cookies and cream was our favorite though.
I love the mochi donuts here. They have mastered the technique down with the donuts having the right texture. The matcha one was very well made and I highly recommend it. They can have a long line at times, but goes by pretty quick.
I love their Mochi Donut Matcha flavor. Trued their Takoyaki it is the Bomb! A must try food in Japantown. And bring more patience to wait. It?s worth the wait too
I went on Thursday right after work and got there just before 6 and had to wait 25 minutes. There were only about six parties before me and only one party ordered more than 1 dozen. So I deducted a star for the slowness. Everything was still available when it was my turn and I purchased a dozen for my family. The donut itself is chewy and yummy and I like the flavor options. I would love to go back and try the black sesame when they have it available. It?s literally a hole in the wall next to the Takoyaki
Love the texture of the donuts and that they didn't taste too sweet. Black sesame, strawberry, and yuzu were my favorites.
Yummy mochi donuts, different flavors-sesame seed, matcha, taro, chocolate, brownie, strawberry, strawberry crumble, coffee, cookies and creme, then on the other side thy also sell korean meatballs, 6 for $18, inside japantown mall
I prefer them over regular donuts. The chewy texture and consistency, I believe they are Gluten Free as well...don't quote me on that. I could be wrong...not that it matters to me. Fortunately I don't have a Gluten allergy...Gratitude. Mochill Mochi Donuts aren't overly sweet either. They aren't sugar bombs like some other donuts or desserts. The Mochill Donut stand / storefront is located in Japan Town SF. Mochill actually shares the space with Takoyaki Yama-chan. The donuts are made fresh daily and regu
Pleasing staff attended to us. The donut is i cant explain it but just about right! Not too sweet but also chewy but not too chewy that hurts your jaw chewing. Anyways, mu verdict is to try it!!
tasty and low-fat like regular donuts. convenient form. there are many different fillings
Great donuts. We tried the taro, the cinnamon sugar, and the fruity pebbles. Light and yummy. Price was great as well at only $3.00 a piece. Friendly service. Only complaint is the pick up line for the restaurant connected to it is in front of the donut place. We stood for a while thinking the people in front of us were waiting to order.
Wanted to try this place when visiting because I always saw their mochi donuts on instagram. Glad we had time to pick some up before dinner because they were actually pretty good. I didn't know the flavors of the day, so we were just going to go with whatever they had. If I remember correctly, they had 6 different flavors, but we ultimately went with their berry, chocolate almond, and matcha. My favorite was the berry as it a good tartness to it as well as sweetness. The matcha surprisingly didn't have a s
The mochi donuts were delicious. The taro and Nutella were perfect.
We saw a long line and decided to get into it. It took about 10 minutes to get to ordering. They had about 6 different flavors for about $2.50 each. We got a hojicha one and it tasted very good. The mochi donut was interesting: a bit chewy but good.
Delicious? however afterwards your teeth feel like they had been covered by a thick layer of sugary Saran Wrap. Green tea > strawberry > fruity pebbles.
The staff are friendly, really cool location and in an awesome area. Fast service The Mochidonuts were beautiful, but no mochi feel/taste in them. They were incredibly dens and dry. I'm not sure if that's how they normally are or if the ratios of the recipe were off that day. I've had the mochi style donuts at plenty of other locations in other States and the mochi characteristic is always present, but here it was not.
I like their mochi donuts a lot. Its flavor is on the sweeter side. I minus one start because the chewiness is inconsistence, sometime I find it more chewy which taste better.
This place is just what they needed to add to Japantown! Got a great selection of mochi donuts and snacks! The mochi donuts are THE BEST I've ever had of it's kind. You can't miss this spot in the heart of Japantown!
Long lines but don't be discouraged it goes by quickly! Love these mochi donuts ?? my favorite thing to get whenever I'm in SF.
Popular mochi donut spot. Donuts are typically soft and warm as you'd want, but you can also ask for them fresh!
Variety of mochi donuts. I got their special donut that had chocolate frosting and sprinkles. It was good. Staff was friendly.
Usually about a 10-minute wait in line, but worth it! You really can?t go wrong with any flavor here - black sesame, fruity pebble, matcha, cinnamon sugar - all delish! It?s definitely a treat to get a 6 pack to share with friends.
got the matcha mochidonut and it was delicious! the donut is really fun to eat because it has a great blend of textures. it?s my personal right level of sweetness. also the service here was great. they had a delay in my order and gave me an extra donut!
As a Taiwan native who grew up with Mister Donuts I was thrilled/impressed to hear that there was a Mister Donut-inspired donut shop in town!! I guess we?re calling it ?mochi donuts?. The employees were insanely nice and the donuts themselves were perfect! Not too sweet, and super chewy. Please come out and support this shop because we need more of it!
AMAZING!!! Inside the heart of Japan Town Mall. Long Line due to practicing social distancing, keeping the public safe, thank you. Definitely worth the wait. I had a Mochi doughnut in Seattle at a place called Dochi and they were amazing so I had very high expectations and only bought one doughnut from Mochill, the fruity pebbles, and it was THE BOMB!!!!!!! I?m from out of town and only in SF for a few hours before heading back to Sacramento. I left but I had to come back and buy a 12 pack for my cowor
This is my second time getting donuts from here and there was no wait! I have tried all their regular flavors before. If you don't like your donut too sweet, the black sesame is it! It is probably my favorite so far. The matcha oreo tastes way better than the regular matcha milk - more depth in flavor and texture. They were the flavors on rotation for that Saturday so not sure when they will have those flavors again. I want to try their strawberry one next time!
These ain?t donuts. Donuts can possibly taste sooooo good. We tried motcha, chocolate, double chocolate, mango, and a ?special?. They are all super delicious. If you pair them with motcha or green tea, these would be just heavenly. Don?t skip these when you come to Japantown.
Best mochi donuts I've had! Highly recommend the strawberry milk - super strong strawberry flavor!
I?m absolutely obsessed with this place! Those donuts taste like literal heaven! I stop by every time I?m in the city ??. You need to try them now!
I always get the 12 pack for parties at my house and they?re a hit! Every flavor slaps. I would make sure to allocate time for pickups because there?s only one attendant and if you?re behind someone getting a lot of donuts, you need to be patient.
Quick, fresh, and delicious. Mochi donuts have just the right amount of chew and sweetness. I regret not getting the fruity pebble flavor, but the strawberry got me coming back.
Love this place! Fun flavors and the texture is awesome. They run out by the end of the day so get there earlier than later! 6 for $18
First time trying Mochill donuts. So so delicious. The right amount of sweetness and super light. I tried the matcha milk donut and I absolutely loved it.
This place was fine. I enjoyed all the flavors, especially the cinnamon sugar one. I think I still prefer the classic yeast raised donuts!
So many choices and great donuts. There?s a lot to choose from and you can make a variety pack. Would get again
Not a line around 12:30pm, I saw the flavors and decided on the black sesame mochinut. The doughnut texture is interesting, chewier than a doughnut but not as chewy as mochi. The black sesame flavor was great, not too sweet. All in all, a very solid doughnut
Chocolate , black sessame , matcha and mango. I absolutely love motchu donuts !! It's the best thing ever !! Nothing taste like this donut ????
Tasty quick mochi donuts that I love! Parking here is not a nightmare and theres so much to do in the plaza! Lucky i had no line. They run a little between $2-3 a piece.
Great mochi donuts! Not too sweet and oily.
Such a yummy treat while shopping in Japan center. We tried several flavors and the texture is chewy and satisfying!
First time and is delicious! Brought it home and threw in freezer for 30min. Brought it to a whole other level! The match and pb&j is tasty.
Delicious mochi donuts with a wide range of flavors! Prices are fair and definitely worth the wait.
A great donut! Tried the sesame, green tea, and fruity pebbles donuts. I love how the donut is shaped in small balls so it?s easy to tear-off and eat.
Disappointing after trying all six flavors. It was too dense and cold. Mochi donuts should be soft & chewy.
Yummy mochi donuts in a variety of fun flavors. Try and come early because they often sell out by the afternoon!
these doughnuts were incredible! you have to try them if you?ve never, idk what i was expecting but it was better than my expectations. so good!
Absolutely fantastic idea, nice selection of flavors! Love the yuzu and black sesame seed too bad they close so early even on a Friday!
Great donuts! Such a nice texture. Wow, black sesame!
Yummy, but their stickers are difficult to rip off. I had to ask one of the nearby stores for scissors.
Tried the strawberry flavor, it was delicious; tangy and not overly sweet. The lady at the front was wonderful!
The best donuts I?ve ever had. Highly recommend the strawberry and the matcha.
I finally went on a day where there wasn't a massive line and now I know why there is a wait and it was delicious! Yummmm
Went early afternoon. Luckily, it wasn't that busy. We were excited to try because of all the good reviews. Perhaps the donuts were out too long. They weren't as chewy as other mochi donuts we've had in the past. Texture was more dense and dry
These donuts are so delicious!! Definitely craving some right now. I love them best when they?re warm because it?s so gooey and the icing is sticky, but also still taste good after it cools down. Texture becomes more dense but still very delicious!
This place helped me survive the pandemic. *mic drop* Simple and strong like THAT. so good. Wishing the best for this place to thrive in biz
I think it's a little sad when you try something for the first time and it still remains to be the best you've had even after all this time. Only because nothing can surprise you anymore. But the good trade off is, hey, you've found The One. I've tried other places for mochi donuts around the Bay Area but Mochill is still my favorite. Don't get me wrong, Modo is good too. But Mochill donuts has the flavors pinned down. You know it's matcha at first bite. With others, you have to kind of "find" the flavor,
I've never had Mochi style Donuts before trying this place. If I had to compare them to something I would say they remind me a bit of beignets but with donut frosting on top instead of powdered sugar. If you happen to be in the area you should definitely give this a try especially if you haven't had it before. My friend and I split one but it was so good we decided to buy a sampler to take home for family and friends.
Consistently great chewy mochi donuts, variety of flavors
Super delicious! I can best describe the flavor of the cinnamon sugar donut as similar to a churro
