I visited from out of town and I heard this was the best place to get a king cake. I haven?t tried one so I definitely wanted to try it. I had it filled with Bavarian and strawberry just to go all out for my first time. I have no regrets, it was so light and not overly sweet at all! It even has shimmer on it! 10/10 wish I could get this again back home. This king cake was nearly overfilled and so so good! I even had an opportunity to meet the owner, he was welcoming and very polite. Not overly sweet and so
Best donuts on the planet! And during Mardi Gras, it?s my go to spot for a King Cake in Abbeville. I no longer live in the state so coming here is the only place I can get real donuts. Dunkin? and Krispy Kreme could never come close.

Stopped in and we were greeted by the sweetest lady. Explained that we had never had a king cake before and that we were from Missouri. She went on to show me the different ones. And I picked the chocolate and Bavarian. She said that was a good choice her favorite too lol. If you are ever in Abbeville Louisiana stop in at Meches and pick you up some sweet delights. First time at this location. Customer service was great. There's not a very large variety but the donuts were great. We ordered a beignet which we found tasted very plain. Tried the chicken tornado which was very good. I'll definitely be back again.
Used to be the best doughnuts in Acadiana. I visited last week bright and early around 4:50am and was sold 28 bucks worth of cold product. Sausage was cold and cheese was not even trying to be a part of that biscuit, with every ounce of its being yearning so deftly for a lack of connection to the sausage that you'd swear it was trying to avoid covid or something...... Tl;dr (nah)
Loved the hot glazed donuts. The beignets were a surprise because, compared to Cafe du Monde, they are huge and slightly more dense. On the other hand these did not have to be hot to be good.
If this store is associated with Meche's in Lafayette, there are some quality issues that need to be addressed. The staff that we encountered were as nice as can be, but the food is not on par with the Lafayette locations. So, if you're a Lafayette Meche's fan and find yourself here, beware.
Picked up a dozen glazed this morning along with som eclairs and som Bavarian filled. They were great. I miss being able to go to Meche?s now that I live out of state.
The Meches in abbeville is nothing compared to the ones in Lafayette!! If I could give zero stars for this rating I would. I ordered donuts that were ICE COLD and they were out of kolaches at 7 am!! That's the kind of treatment you get when you try to support locally owned businesses. I will ALWAYS choose Donut Palace over the abbeville Meches, at least they never run out of product and I know my food will be hot. DO BETTER Meches in abbeville!!
Don?t buy the kolaches, got some this morning and they were bad. Sausage is all slimy and has a disgusting taste to them. I?ll just keep buying mines at donut place
I called ahead of time to ask if they had fresh donuts on the line the lady said yes I got there to receive a box of cold donuts...Never going back there again in life!!!
