When I first moved to Texas, this spot was the greatest.They were really good not to mention the people and the atmosphere. I'm not sure if they changed owners or managers, but the quality has gone down quite a bit. The donuts are not as fresh s they used to be and seemed to have changed shape and taste. The employees are not as friendly as they used to be either. Lastly, they used to run out of glazed options well before 12p, and you could order some the day before, but now the order time is 2 or 3 days ah

This place was bustling to say the least! We ordered a dozen different donuts and a couple kolaches. The donuts were incredibly soft and delightful, despite a 20+ mins drive home. The kolaches were tasty and fluffy. I definitely understand what all the hype is about because these donuts were really top notch.

I could not wait to visit this place after being gifted donuts at work. It did not disappoint! I even gifted to two friends to pay it forward! Delicious donuts- just like the small town bakery in North Dakota! The apple fritters are crunchy and moist, the eclairs and cinnamon rolls were huge and soft, the raspberry filled were incredible and the cake donuts were perfect!

I moved to Allen in 1992 and have been a long time customer of Max's Donuts. My family and friends used to set down and for an amazing breakfast. It is my opinion the new owners have little or no regard for keeping the store as it was from the beginning. This place use to have hot donuts 85% of the time and was the best shop in Allen.The new ownership has cold donuts 85% of the time unlike previous ownership. I got to find a new shop that serves fresh hot donuts.

I really wanted to like these donuts, but they're an odd texture (and shape) and have WAY too much icing to donut ratio. Generally, a chocolate frosted is on a plain donut, but these we're frosted on top of an already heavily glazed donut ?? My son and I can normally eat 2-3 each, but we couldn't even finish one. Not worth the wait in a super long line, imo! There are much better quality donut shops in the immediate area.

Max?s is actually the only donut shop that I would drive 30+ minutes across two towns for. When I tell you the donuts are crazy good, it?s crazy good melt in your mouth type of donuts. I wouldn't call Max's Donut Shop a donut shop. I would call it a little taste of heaven. I have had many donuts in my life time, however these are very different. It's almost like a cake. Very fluffy, however with substance to them. A friend of mine says they are the best donuts in Allen. I would recommend you to stop by and give them a try.

I first had these in 2015 while visiting and they were very good. I tried them again today and they are still as good as I remember and pillowy soft. They are very busy and apparently only make a certain amount of donuts a day despite operation hours. You must go at opening if you want to experience the entire selection. I?ve been going to Max?s since a kid, growing up in Allen. I go every Friday morning to buy donuts for some of my employees and my wife picks up donuts for their church on Sunday mornings. We have never had one complaint about the donuts and everyone always tells us they are the best donuts they have had. On Sunday mornings our dogs get to go on a truck ride with us to pickup the donuts. They are always super excited because they get their own donuts holes!

when you walk in, there is a modest setting, but as you start to order, you realize how generous and kind the staff is. additionally, the donuts are absolutely wonderful, they are just melt-in-your-mouth good. the perfect amount of glaze to dough ratio. we love this little neighborhood donut shop, and we will certainly be here again.

Saying the donuts here are amazing, is totally under - selling it. Their donuts are like the softest fluffiest clouds with a light, crisp, exterior, and the perfect chewiness, that just melt in your mouth. They are larger than any donuts I've seen elsewhere, and one or two will fill you up, while leaving you craving more.

Max?s donuts are not only delicious, but their staff is friendly, fast and efficient. Which is important when you can typically find a line. A testament to the above mentioned delicious donuts.

As someone who has been to many donut shops and bakerys. Max's Donuts offers some the best, donuts and kolaches. They are soft and delicate in texture. Taste sweet without being overbearing. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. Its worth your time and money.

Drove half and hour here to try them out a second time. The first time, they had run out and only had cake donuts. Cake donuts were okay. This time I got there a bit earlier and they had glazed donuts. The chocolate and glazed were way too sweet. Not enjoyable at all. The ladies working there were nice.

Max's donuts are by far the best donuts in Dallas. When they make donuts, they use the good donut flour. You need to get there early, and there will be a line to the door or out the door. Remember, there are people behind you. Know what you want when you get to the counter.

Easily the best mom and pop donuts in DFW. They always have friendly service. Each donut is super fluffy and airy but with the density of a great donut. I was there this morning 7:10 am for my son?s birthday. The last three times ive been there they just dont have enough donuts. This is not rocket science. It you've sold all your apple fritters by 9;30 am make some. more. I went to this donut place for the first time because everyone had such positive reviews!! I actually thought they were pretty expensive for donuts and kolaches.I had an ?clair which was so incredibly sweet, I couldn't even eat it!! I grew up in Allen and used to go here all of the time, so many memories from my child hood. I had not had it in years and went this morning and man I was so disappointed. No tables to sit at, all the little league plaques that used to hang, gone. The smokies, are not smokies, they taste like every other donut shop. I am so sad about this and its so disappointing.

1.50$ for the smallest kolaches I've ever seen. Order only kolaches, surprised that this is the first place to ever not heat up kolaches and served them to me cold. Needless to say won't ever be returning.

Probably the best donuts in this local area that I have discovered, and on top of that great prices as well. The downside is that they get super busy so go early. My only nitpick (that is personal preference) is I wish they weren?t so overwhelmingly sweet. Most of the flavors get lost because the sugar is so dominant. They glaze EVERYTHING.

I finally tried one of these donuts after so many people have said that they are the best donuts in the area. I seriously do not understand why this is the thought! I tried a glazed donut. Completely disgusting full of oils and soggy and just gross. No flavor whatsoever, just pure powdered sugar mixture. Wasn't flaky. Wasn't airy. Not a good donut just a soggy cake. As soon as I ate it, stomach was upset and my teeth hurt. Glad others like this place but I suggest going elsewhere.

Just stopped this morning expecting to get the same donuts I loved from a few years ago. Wish I had read the reviews here before wasting my time and money. The donuts I got today are horrible. They're bad Krispy Kreme knock-offs. If I wanted Krispy Kreme, I would have gone there. It say a lot for the attitude of the new owner that they thought changing the recipe is what their customers wanted.

By far the best donuts I've ever had. I'm not sure what it is about these things, they're dense and saturated with flavor (and equally awful for you, I'm sure). The "old fashioned" buttermilk style donut is amazing. And the best part is, even though they know they're the best in town, they dont charge any more for their donuts than anybody else.

Glazed and chocolate glazed are their main staples and the other types of specialty donuts sell out quickly on weekends. There can often be a line but service is usually quick. The inside is nothing special but the donuts make up for any lack of atmosphere.

Max's Donut shop is one of the best donut shops I have been too. I have come here for years and their quality is second to none. Voted one of the top donut places in the DFW metroplex there is something here for everyone. I enjoy their maple bars but their donut holes are excellent and come with glaze or chocolate. Their cinnamon rolls are as large as an adult's head (which is a steal for the price). I would highly suggest a visit while in town. You wont be disappointed.

We have attempted to come to this place 4 times this year. Considering the drive needed to get here, it's really disappointing that we've only been able to successfully get donuts 1 time. Arriving almost an hour before they say they close- on a Sunday, which I would think would be one of your biggest donut days of the week- they are already closed. Why not honor your hours? If the hours no longer match what you're willing to produce, then change your hours.

The quality and the taste of the donuts has really gone downhill in the past year or more. I could not taste (nor see) cinnamon in the cinnamon roll and cinnamon is a pungent spice. Cream filled was gooey and gross with little to no flavor. Threw most of them out and fed the rest to the dogs. Smokey joes were good though.
