I just kind of randomly stopped in to grab a coffee and ended up buying a jelly filled something because it looked alright and the place smelled good. Dang! It is is so good! If I was from this area, I'd make this a place I'd come way too often I didn't take a before pic because it only looked alright, and I didn't really expect to be too impressed, but once I realized it was delicious my hubby had already taken some large bites (he agreed - it was good!)

The wife and I did an Airbnb there a couple of years ago. We hit this donut shop, THE most amazing donuts I?ve ever had. I think I would make the 4 hour trip just to get them lol

Listen, this place lives up to the reputation! These doughnuts are fantastic. The people are super nice. Made fresh in front of you and still warm when you get them! Did I say Amazing?

When in Geneva, Madsen Donuts is a must stop. A donut shop that has been in business since 1938 is remarkable. We tried several different types of donuts and all were yummy.

Madsen Donuts is my favorite donut place in the world. I love them so much, that I had them make red, white, and blue donuts for my wedding! They turned out beautiful, and tasted like heaven. My #1 favorite is the chocolate round, with glazed coming in close at second. Billie was great to work with and the employees are always so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this place! 3 generations of our family have enjoyed their super delicious donuts. We drove 1400 miles to arrive today to get our fix of this delicious sugary confection. Even in todays times, we were able to get in, and pick up 2 dozen for the family get together.

Another icon of the GOTL strip. There is usually a line out the door, but it moves quickly. Don't worry about forgetting this place. You will see many of the blue and white boxes being carried around the area. Fresh and tasty, you must get one to eat there and then some to go! They have both, raised and cake donuts, to please all tastes.

Donuts always fresh, the "cream sticks" are the bomb!...the milk pairs well, because it is ice cold. Only advice is get here early because they sell out daily and when they're gone, they're gone till the next day.

Madsen Donuts is one of the staples of the Geneva-on-the-lake strip. It?s smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the busy area, and there?s always a line. We went early in the morning and found it less crowded. They have a great assortment of baked goods and great coffee as well. You?d be hard pressed to walk more than 100 feet without seeing someone carrying a Madsen Donuts box. Make sure to visit if you?re in the area but try to go early!

Melt in your mouth isn't just an expression here. Even the next day they were so delicious! I know my donuts, and these beat every donut I've ever had by a mile....yes, even Amish and farm donuts...it's truly not even close. Worth the hour drive for us.

The wife's family vacationed in Geneva on the lake Ohio when she was young, and she takes me there at least once a year. Not to vacation, but as you may have guessed, to visit Madsen donuts and grab a dozen cream sticks, aka sinkers which ate awesome. They have been an anchor there since 1938 Great donuts!

The best donuts along the shores of lake Erie, moving into the spot with the closing of Frosty's in Erie a couple of years ago. A must stop and try location if you're anywhere close or even just traveling by on I90. It is a cornerstone of the GOTL charm and throwback 1950's atmosphere.

Half of the cream sticks were placed facedown in the box, all the chocolate came off when trying to take one out and then I had to scoop it all up and spread it on. A sprinkle donut was stacked on top of another one and all of its toppings were stuck to the lid. Donuts were good but not enough to come back for that service.

So i have been waiting to try these donuts for almost 6 months....today i finally got here....the jelly (raspberry) donuts are. Delicious! super tender dough ..filled perfectly lightly sugar dusted .. Cinnamon sugar cake donuts are by far the best of the best i love them!! Best donuts I have eaten since the government mandated cooking oil change. Got there early and watch them frying them as I ordered. Got the glazed donuts and cream sticks tasted just like the ones we use to have as kids. Ps. If you get there early, try the cream sticks without frosting you won't be disappointed.

Always have great doughnuts. It has been a generational tradition for my family to eat here. I would absolutely recommend the cream sticks here. They're a little bit greasy, but I can't express to you how good they are. It's fried dough, so what do you expect?

Madsens is the only consistent thing in life. The last 2 times I was there was 1972 and 2004 and nothing has changed since then! Thank God! I went today and their donuts are the best there are. I will drive there soon even though it?s 2 1/2 hours to pick up donuts, they are that good!

Been going here since I was a young kid, 20+ years of good experiences, good service, and even better donuts. Try to come early, if they run out of donuts for the day, they close up. Every single thing I have had from here has been fresh and delicious thanks to this being a place that sticks to their roots no matter what, and would rather sell nothing at all than something subpar.

I gave it 2 fair shots on 2 different occasions in 2 different seasons...but they just don't make a good donut. On top of that, the staff is unfriendly. I actually THREW OUT the donuts after trying them on my second trip. They truly are terrible. My family from out of town was also sorely disappointed. We will definitely not be back again.

I've passed this place hundreds of times while bike riding down the strip in GOTL. Yesterday, I finally decided to stop in and get myself a treat. These donuts are simply THE BEST I have ever had! I grew up in Geneva and have since moved away but every summer when we come back we have to get The amazing Madsen donuts.

I've had Madsen's Donuts for several seasons. I can't say they are really good or that they are bad, they are Madsen's. They are fairly unique. The stick style donuts have a slight gultinous bite to the dough with a bit of an under cooked texture. They will sit in your stomach for a bit. They are always very fresh! The peanut topped cake style donut was fairly standard fair. You should just go for yourself. (~);}

TERRIBLE ! I was up here yesterday June 30th around 5pm . No one was making donuts ! Three teenage girls talking and giggling , doing a lot of nothing . The donuts in the case looked so OLD . I am in my 70's and have been going to "The, Lake" since I was a kid. I have also been known to make a donut run just to get Madsen's. Yesterday was my first of the season. Bit into a glazed on the way home to Cleveland and something just tasted different. The Madsen flavor wasn't there. Same with the other donuts and cream sticks. Not sure I would do another Madsen's run. Just saying.

When I was little, my grandpa would get donuts from here, every day for a week (we would spend a week at Geneva-on-Lake from the time I was a baby, until I was about 8). They were great when I was little, and they're still great!

This was our first time to Geneva-On-The-Lake (GOTL) and we were told that Madsen's was a must. We went early, about 9am, while the town was still fairly quiet. Madsen's totally did not disappoint! Their donuts are amazing, made fresh daily. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The shop itself is small but the picnic seating right on the main street was fun, even as early as we were there! Madsen Donuts is definitely one reason why I want to come back to GOTL!

A nice little donut shop that will let you get a taste of the past. It's neat to read the historical markers in GOTL, but it's so much better to be able to experience the original shops. This is a must stop place when you visit GOTL.

It was my first time going to Geneva and this was the only bad part. My glazed donut was all thin and dented, and falling apart. Not to mention it didn't taste that good either, my boyfriend said his cream stick was disappointing as well. Not to mention the girl at the counter (short and blonde) was rude. When we came in she said "What do you want," when we were done all she said was "bye" and walked away. Waste of $2.
