Local Lion

Set out to try as many local Cafe as I can while in the area and Local Lion did not disappoint. Had the Blueverry Jasmine donut and Local Lotus with my Cortado. Because why not? ???? The? donut was soool yummy and the Jasmine scent really came through, yet in a sweet suttle way. The lotus was like... Imagine a donut and a cinnamon roll had a baby. Not too overly sweet. Friend staff. Quick service. Lots of seating available. Outside seating area is nice too.

I graduated AppState in 2021 and came back for a visit. The Local Lion never disappoints! The staff is always wonderful, helpful, and knowledgeable. I recommend the Bee Balm, Queen Anne's Lace, and the Turtle coffees. The Maple donuts are awesome, but the Sugar and Cinnamon donuts are the best! Very fluffy and filling! We love going to the Local Lion whenever we're in the Boone area! We love the Donuts & other goodies & the coffee. It's a beautiful place to have coffee & a light breakfast or a mid day coffee break. ?? They have their own (free) parking lot & they have a drive-through. We love to bring our dog & have our coffee & Donuts outside on the lovely covered patio! Awesome place, great staff & service too.

Local Lion is my FAVORITE cafe in Boone! They have delicious donuts (my favorite is Lavender Glaze) and other pastries. The drinks are always incredible and there are a lot of options for flavors, which I love. I usually get an iced latte, but lately I keep going for the strawberry matcha. Local Lion is also a great place to get some work done. The inside of the cafe is very cute. Get some good treats here, you won't regret it!

This place was fantastic! Amazing coffee and great donuts. Prices were very reasonable as well. Service was awesome, the folks behind the counter even gave me some hiking recommendations. If you're in Boone, it's tough to beat this coffee spot.

Donuts were doughy and dense we liked the icing flavors but they were lost in the mouthfuls of dough in each bite. Barista needs to learn how to make late foam. We didn't finish our coffees.

I just tried Local Lion?s matcha latte for the first time. It is fantastic. I have tried matcha lattes from many cafes and this is by far the best one I?ve had. It is clear they use ceremonial grade matcha powder ??.

Cozy coffee shop-full of people but everyone was very happy - some chatting and some working. People were kind to each other when they saw someone without a seat and offered to give their seat up now since they were leaving. The drip coffee and the Queen Anne's Lace latte were both great. Finally was able to get by here for their Gluten Free Fridays!!! I was nervous because we got there about 1pm & I wasn't sure if they'd have anything left. But they did!! We got a mixed dozen & goodness gracious my belly was happy!!! I haven't had a donut in years & their GF donuts were fantastic!! I personally loved the cinnamon & sugar one the most. Local Lion is a great place to unwind and have great coffee and donuts. Far from typical, their menu boasts original craft coffees, lattes, espresso and more. Don't sleep on the home made donuts either! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We didn't get to stick around long, but it appears to be a great place to get work done, but also to meet with friends. Will definitely be going back!

Great place for coffee and amazing, freshly made donuts. The cheerwine glazed is incredible and truly tastes like cheerwine. The local lotus is not over-baked and is moist as so many similar pastries from other places are not. Last fall they had a limited edition ?Ring of Fire? donut. coffee is good but their smoothies are NASTY. they use some fruit concentrate blended with whole milk and it tastes like drinking strawberry jelly. they didn?t ask me for a milk preference and i don?t drink whole milk- i obviously didn?t know the smoothie was going to be 99% whole milk. Cute little cafe in the walking distance from ASU. Good coffee and delicious donut. We actually stopped by at the gas station nearby and saw the cafe as we were filling our tank. Glad we checked this place out.

I am visiting from out of town and wanted to try the donuts here. I grabbed an original glazed and chocolate glazed. They looked very good but Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed with the donuts :( The texture of them wasn?t quite right, the chocolate one even had an edge that was kind of crunchy. Everything about this place is wonderful! It's beautiful inside and outside. The coffee is so stinkin' good! The glazed donut was better than any I've ever had and my British husband said their cheddar and herb biscuit finally tastes like the scones he remembers. Since we are full time RV?ers and lover of donuts, we search for donuts wherever our travels take us. While this was our first time here, NC is at the top of the donuts ladder! The donuts here are amazing! We came back every day we were staying in Boone. The price was also very reasonable. The chocolate sprinkles and maple glaze were our favourites. Coffee was also great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A mediocre experience. The coffee wasn?t that good and the doughnut was spongey (in a bad way). Also, the doughnut didn?t taste like the chocolate icing or the sprinkles - it tasted only like dough. Next time, I?ll go elsewhere.

I normally go to the drive thru but it was closed in the evening. This was sometime last week. I went aside and the barista was super friendly and made the effort to make conversation. I also think the prices here are the most reasonable of most coffee shops in Boone. I was shocked to find I could get an espresso drink and a donut for $6. Usually, I'm paying $6 for the drink alone. I have been back several times and will be back some more. I love their donuts and coffee. Plus, the place isn't expensive, especially for the quality of food, drinks, and seated area. They also have a drive-through if you want to go faster. The outside seating is amazing, too.

Their doughnuts are really tasty. A doughnut and a drip with cream is safe territory. I ordered an iced dirty chai though that had at most a tablespoon of milk. It was so overpowering and didn't resemble a chai latte at all - just a dark watery mixture.

I love this place. It is usually my first stop when I come into Boone in the mornings. Great coffee and treats. I always grab a bag or two of their beans they roast in house home with me. They have a drive thru if you're on the go. Parking is tricky and usually full.

People, in general, have some weird ideas of what a "great donut" is, and it's usually an "OK donut with lots of sugar and sugary toppings." But that's not this place, these donuts were delicious without needing a bunch of stuff on top. I've only found one other donut shop that I'd put into the "great" category, so now I have two in that spot.

Local lion is definitely my favorite coffee shop in the whole world. The vibe inside is spectacular and they make their donuts in house at 3 am that day and they taste fantastic. All the drinks are really good too and they're very reasonably priced. Definitely a must visit in Boone

Absolutely loved this coffee shop in Boone. The staff works incredibly hard between in house customers and the drive thru, and we really enjoyed the teas and espresso we enjoyed there. Great service, the kind that makes you look forward to a return trip on your next vacation.

This place was really amazing! They have the usual coffee drinks, lattes, etc. I had a coffee which was good. The thing to come for, though, is the donuts. They have a selection of 4 or 5 different flavors of homemade donuts. I tried two flavors and they were both excellent. The texture of the donuts is out of this world.
