Jolly Pirate Donuts

Don?t know who the man was in there last night making the donuts but they know what they are doing, best donuts I?ve had from them in years. The maple nut tarts pictured are really good the next day heated up in the air fryer.

Employees are always kinda rude. Every time I go. And who puts a dozen donuts in a small box? This is what my donuts looked like when I got home. Smh, just kinda gross. And sure maybe they?re okay to eat, but they don?t look appealing at all.

We stopped at Jolly Pirate Donuts on our way to Columbus for the weekend after hearing about it from their neighbors at Smile More Laundry and Tan! The donuts are very very good! So good we stopped again on our way back home to grab some for family to try! Both times we went, the ladies who were working were very kind, patient and helpful! 10/10 recommend trying! Our family recommends the maple stick, peanut butter filled, and the chocolate with sprinkles!

I really wish I could rate this location higher as I love the variety of really good donuts they offer. I simply can't give them a higher rating due to their customer service. I went to Jolly Pirate in Newark because of their high ratings. I was met by an employee that seemed rather annoyed I even walked in the doors. The best apple fritters in the world are made fresh 2x a day, but they go quickly. Open 24 hours a day! Only closed Christmas and Thanksgiving. Nice people running it. Plenty of doughnut varieties for everyone. Good coffee ? and conversation if you eat in. Baking times are 4am and 4pm. It's right near the railroad tracks on 30th street...hard to drive by without dropping in. :)

I love their vast selection and that they stay open late. The best thing about the atmosphere is the smell and sight of freshly baked donuts! The service Aaaarrrrgggghhhh always helpful and I never feel judged, no matter how many donuts they fit in my adorable treasure chest box!

YAY I'm home. Just moved back to the Heath/Newark area after almost 15 years. Nothing beats this these donuts. There is another Jolly Pirates that was right down the road from where I moved back from & no thank you. Donuts ALWAYS seemed to have an OLD OIL taste. Trust me I'm a donut junkie ... This is the third Jolly Pirate location I have tried. Absolutely love JP donuts, personally I think they are some of the best in Ohio. Stopped in at about three o'clock in the afternoon so there wasn't as wide of a doughnut selection as I was expecting, but the ones we did get were very delicious. They have a few tables and an old school diner bar for seating. The woman behind the counter was very nice and the prices were good. Definitely glad that we stopped here to fulfill our sweet tooth. The sign said that they were open 24 hours, so I could definitely see myself stopping here for late night munchies if I lived in the area.

Fantastic Donuts that are actually made on site and not frozen, shipped in, thawed and heated up like other places. They do have a baker's dozen of 13 Donuts that they call a pirates dozen. The ambience in the place is 1970s but I actually really like it :-) They are open 24/7

It was my sons birthday and we all were in a happy mood. And the lady at the counter with blond wavy hair was helping us and she had the worst attitude, she was short with us and when my daughter asked her a question about what kind of donut one of them was she made her feel stupid. Her vibe was so bad and she was acting inconvenienced, we only got 10 dounts. Then she goes to the back and starts slamming dishes or pans. It was awkward and ruined the whole mood. Meh, it's okay donuts here. We ordered a dozen (13 donuts) for really good deal. We had the staff pick half a dozen for us. I think I enjoyed the peanut one the most and that was like a day after we got it. The jammed ones are just way too sweet for us but it should be great with a cup of coffee. I'd rather go elsewhere but it's definitely a cheaper option if you're craving for some donuts.

Very prompt and friendly service! There is always a great variety of fresh donuts, coffee and other tasty treats. It's very easy for my family and I to have no interest in going anywhere else than Jolly Pirates!

They've always had the absolute best FRESH HOMEMADE donuts! My father would take me here as a small child. We'd sit and eat a donut and I always had chocolate milk while he had his coffee and read the paper. We'd get a dozen to go and take home to my mom. I've tried all these other places and brands of donuts and nothing and no one beats Jolly Pirate Donuts formerly Jolly Rogers Donuts EVER. I?ll give a star because the donuts are great. However, the staff is awful. Extremely rude, and they all act like they are miserable. Apparently they all lost a loved one at the same time lol. Strangely enough, they are ALL that way. Doesn?t matter who is working that day. Guaranteed garbage customer service. So weird.

This place brings back memories of driving down to West Virginia to visit my family... Yes, it's an older donut shop. Yes, they have patience while you look at the dozens and dozens of jolly filled donuts. You can sit down with a jug of milk or bottle of water. Order yourself some coffee and just enjoy the morning. Or take it to go and share it with the family. It doesn't matter how eat them, just enjoy them when you do because there aren't many Jolly Pirates left.

My favorite donuts! The donuts taste amazing (their white coconut and the apple filled are my favorite & no one else has anything comparable), prices are reasonable (even w recent increases- and there is a discount on Tuesday), staff if very friendly and involved in the community, and I love that when you buy a dozen it's a baker's dozen (13).

What was available was great.... Got there on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm. Was greeted by a cute blonde that acted like she would self destruct if she smiled. Not too many places like this left in the area. The bar - style seating is cozy. You can roll in to grab a quick breakfast or grab a couple dozen donuts for meetings or events. I like the coffee here. Always nice folks in there, both the workers and the folks hanging out eating. My kids love this place.

Listen I have a MAJOR problem with Jolly Pirates. Why was I not made aware of how delicious y'all's donuts are. I will probably never get Dunkin Dookies again honestly. I got home to see my wife bought donuts and I was like oh dope. Grabbed one, took a bite, and I was IMMEDIATELY sent sky high. That was the best donut I have had in honestly well over a decade. My major problem with you is that you should've done better to get buy y'all's donuts instead of me suffering with donuts from everywhere else.

I always feel like I step back in time when I walk in the door, you feel like you just belong there because they treat you like family even if it's your first time there. They even do special orders and have them done in 15 minutes or less. Just wonderful service and the donuts are to die for.

I traveled to Ohio, and was so happy to see Jolly Pirate Donuts was still there. I had to stop so my daughter could try the donuts. She loved them, too. Awesome childhood memories here.

These are the best donuts bar none! They are always fresh and delicious. The service is smiles all around. If you want a good muffin, they have those, too. The prices are more reasonable than other doughnut shops AND these are far superior in taste and quality. I drive out of my way for these wonderful treats.

The last couple of times, I was in no apple Fritters. The young guy that was working had no smile . Like he didn't want to be there, I get it u don't.. but at least fake it! I got some donuts and a cappuccino. I asked if he would check and see if it needed new vanilla, which wasn't very sweet, He said no, they changed it. Lol ok I guess I'll just keep this nasty cappuccino smh I'll go elsewhere!

Such a treat to find a good 24 hour donut and coffee shop! It is impossible not to smile when trays of fresh donuts come out and the coffee is fantastic! Expect to take some home with their "bakers dozen" special and they still use the treasure chest boxes! Thanks for all the good memories from childhood.

My grandma worked here in the 80?s and early 90?s and that?s when I fell in love with these donuts. As they have become a family favorite, even now they still remind me of my favorite grandma. That being said I would like to give you some feedback. My favorite all time donuts are the jelly filled ones, please make sure that you are giving a full squirt of jelly in them. I got donuts from you yesterday on south 30th street in Newark and they barely had but a tablespoon of jelly. Which is depressing.

You never know what donuts they will have here, but you can bet they will be good. I had a chocolate cake donut and a chocolate peanut butter one and they were both excellent. They're open 24 hours a day which is great when you need a donut. You can call ahead in the morning and reserve donuts to pick up later which is great.

Usually their doughnuts are pretty fresh and tasty. My last visit though was sort of disappointing though. The doughnuts I got tasted like they've been sitting for a day and sort of hard. Hopefully next visit is better. If so I'll be updating my review.

These are the best donuts I have ever had. The greatest thing about this place is that it is open 24/7. They have the softest, puffy donuts. The variety is astounding. They have cream filled, banana & chocolate pudding filled, apple pie filling filled, bear claws, pumpkin, raspberry filled, cream sticks, doughnuts and cake donuts. My sister and I went there this morning and the girl working the counter was being very rude to the people in front of us. When we got up there to order, she was extremely rude and downright nasty towards us. She kept acting like we were stupid when we would ask a question. They have delicious donuts but we may never be back just because of her and I will be telling everyone about my experience.

Used coupon: buy 2 get 1 free. I tried birthday-cake donut. The sprinkles in the batter gave it that name. It was good, but not spectacular. Then I tried banana cream. It was good, but not enough filling to taste banana! Gave the free donut--a black-raspberry jelly filled to my 86-year-old mom and she LOVED it! I will try that with next month's coupon.

I really like this spot - the staff is friendly and the donuts are fresh. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've heard that's not bad either. I usually take my food to go, but the stools at the counter look clean and are open full.

Fantastic Doughnuts! It is pretty hard to eat a doughnut while wearing a mask, glad I have the choice to take mine off while eating here. Never once have I ever had bad service. Sometimes they may have been out of the delicious type of doughnut that I came in for, but I get over it quickly since they have a wide variety. Keep up the great work!

Ok, I haven't bought donuts in a few years but Jolly pirate from my memories had better donuts than what I got today. A dozen cost almost $18 and although the Bismarks tasted alright, Jolly was skimpy with the filling. For as expensive as donuts are today you obviously don't get your money's worth. Darn shame, they used to be pretty darn good.

I've been craving JPD for months. My husband surprised me today and drove the family to buy a dozen donuts. I am so happy. There's not a bad choice when it comes to choosing what donut to buy. Every single one is so yummy. My kids don't normally like donuts. When they got home we had to stop them from eating them all. They are that good. Honey dipped and maple long johns are my favorite. My sister used to bring me to Jolly Pirate Donut when I was younger. So it brings back fond memories. ??

I've traveled a lot and I've gone to a lot of doughnut places but i honestly feel that this one is the best I've ever been to. I've had an opportunity to try most of their menu and have loved every single thing I've had. The have amazing puff pastries, cake doughnuts, cream filled... It's all amazing.

Visited this place on Labor Day since the kids didn?t have school. They were pretty busy and I felt bad that they had to work the holiday. Got a dozen mixed donuts and they were delicious as always. Staff could be a little friendlier but considering the circumstances on this particular day I get it.
