Welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. I grabbed a quick coffee and donut to-go while on a morning walk with my dog and the staff added a donut hole to the bag that I found as a little surprise for her when I sat down on a nearby park bench to enjoy the snack. I ordered off two good to go and the workers were extremely friendly and for just 5 bucks we got two full bags of donuts (around 10 donuts and plenty of donut holes). The inside is really cute as well. Will definitely be back!

For 14 years I had a "favourite" donut shop because of locatiin and convenience. Today, Jhonny's Donut shop showed me I shouldn't compromise on flavor. These are HONESTLY the best damn donuts I've ever had. The flavour is just right, and they have this crunch on the bottom that no other donuts have. I'm hooked. I'll be coming back.

A lot of times when ordering it feels like if you don't know what you want you have to choose fast or get out of the way as they keep demanding to know what you want. I used to come to Johnny's when I was still in high school. It was a mainstay of my young adult life. I came back today while in town to visit family and got an ube (Japanese yam) glazed donut. The folks behind the counter threw in some extra donut holes. So nice! So tasty! A mainstay of Lafayette! Keep up the good work!

When a donut shop has a line out the door, you know it's good! Drove out of my way to get donuts from here and it was totally worth it. Only bad thing- cash only, but CVS is right next door for a cash back purchase.

Great donuts and great people. They have a pretty unique maple flavor compared to most places (been to over 50 donuts spots from all around the Bay). It has a roasted, buttery flavor that isn?t overly sweet and makes you crave another one. They also usually have donut holes on deck for those who like their holes and sometimes cronut holes available.

The best donuts I have ever had in my life, and I?ve had a lot. It?s fluffy and delicious. It doesn?t upset my stomach like the others. It seems they use wholesome ingredients. Definitely will be back for more.

This place uses the cleanest fry oil! The donuts are so great! The yeast dough is soft and fluffy, and the cake dough is perfectly crumbly. I would drive 1 hour to get donuts this good.

I love Johnnys donuts. They are so fresh every morning?no matter what time I go. The staff is friendly and cheerful. I know some of them by name and they always remember me, which is nice because it makes me feel like a regular! The donuts are delicious, too. My favorite thing to get is the sugar donut, it is so soft and fluffy. They have so many different options that you can't go wrong if you're trying to find something new to try.

Love that this place is open early. My son and I were able to get a couple donuts each, enjoy them and talk about our plans for the day before having to leave for my morning commute. The donuts are nice and soft. The filled donuts were thoroughly filled. My son had 2 jelly filled and I a custard. Didn't have one where it is empty or half filled on one end and only full on section. Every bite had filling.

Best donuts I've ever had. Bar none. Growing up it was a family ritual to go for donuts at Johnny's every Saturday, and the quality is every but as good as I remember if not better. If you want a real treat show up when they're still hot and enjoy how the freshest hot ones just melt in your mouth. I simply cannot recommend this place enough 11/5 stars would gladly enjoy any time!

Maple bar - can barely eat half, it was way too sweet. I have eaten too many maple frosted donuts/bars from many donut shops, this was just on a whole different level of sweetness. Raspberry filled - way too sweet. Custard filled - not bad actually. Regular sugar sprinkled, and glazed donuts - quite decent! I cannot go back for more, they're just too sweet for my liking. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is that the lady is super incredibly nice! They seem to be very well liked by the community too.

While doing work in the area, this local donut shop was a bright spot in my morning. Friendly people, good coffee and an amazing assortment of sweet baked goods. I've only tried their custard filled chocolate round donut and it was good. I love how the custard is not overly sweet, and the chocolate is more dark vs milk so it balances well with the custard. Excellent dough to custard ratio. What I really wanted was to try their apple fritter but it was huge and I was too full from breakfast. Definitely next time. I've tried many of the bay area donut shops and I always find myself coming back to Johnny's. I would recommend getting there early so you have a selection! My favorite donuts are the maple bar, the apple fritter and the boston cream. The donut holes are also a hit. I'm pretty sure every time I've gotten them, they're still warm and they melt in your mouth. Don't sleep on Johnny's Donuts!

Best donuts in the East Bay and Lamorinda! The apple fritter is especially great. Best of all is the filled chocolate bar IF you get one fresh from the oven and have it filled seconds before you eat it. The "gourmet" donut shops are poseurs. I love Johnny's. Great donuts and great prices. Not a chain. Few tips, cash only and they are usually closed for Chinese New Year. But, I eat there maybe once a month and just love the owners and atmosphere.

Show me a donut without sugar and I'll show you something that's not a donut. "No pastries." Yup, once again, you're at a donut shop - not a bakery. If I wanted a pastry, I'd go to a bakery, not a donut shop. I miss going to Johnny's! It was my go-to Donut place pre-COVID for our office meetings in San Francisco! Our staff loved and looked forward to them. It was so convenient that they open at 5 am. Can't wait to have COVID behind us to have meetings where we could enjoy Johnny's donuts :)

Very clean, great customer service, a lot of differend kinds of tea. However donuts are not good, much sugar in there. It was so much sugar, that sugar taste just overwhelmed everything else. There's not much donut variety either. No pastries to choose from. There're many places maybe not as clean and not as much tea to choose from but at least they don't put buttload of sugar in.

I try to avoid Johnny's for health reasons, however when I do get a donut it's the only place I go. I think the San Francisco Chronicle rated this the best donut in the Bay Area at one time.
