John's Donuts

I've been trying various donut shops in the area over the last few months. I decided to give John's a try this past Saturday. I was blown away at the selection, one of the largest out of the shops I've been to. The guy who helped me was super friendly. I especially enjoyed the glazed pretzel, raisin square, apple fritter, lemon cake, and the cake donut topped with chocolate and coconut. There is ample free street parking at the location. The neighborhood is quite. The exterior and interior of the location were in good repair. The associate was friendly and was able to answer my questions. There were a variety of donuts available and they had a daily special. The donuts we purchased were fresh and flavorful. They take cash and credit cards but you have to spend more than $5 to use a credit card. I would return to this location and recommend it to others.

So finally little brother got into this donut shop. The hours leave a little to be desired, as it's 4 am to noon. If he sells out he closes totally. Nit use to a donut ship having such short hours. As Donut Drive-In hours are 5 am to 10 pm and some nights 12 am. OK let's get down to the donuts. The Apple Fritters are smaller than we are used to, the twisted cinnamon glazed is ok. Best Donuts in St. Louis. Very buttery rich and good flavors. The Apple Fritter is brilliant. - My favorite is the Chocolate Coconut Icing. I don't believe there are any steps so the building is accessible. It's all take away/ carry out now. (Before the pandemic there were booths and tables and kids studying for exams and friends sitting around reading newspapers. This is a rich historied donut shop every kid and person in St. Louis should visit.) Love this place.

It has taken me forever to review this establishment. I have gone here for over 10 years and wanted to keep them my secret. It was really selfish of me. These are the best donuts in St. Louis. The recipe has not changed since I found them. Always fresh, always delicious, always kind and caring employees. I recommend all of them! Of course I have my favorites but you cannot go wrong with anything you pick.

John Donut is the best! Anytime we want donuts we go to John?s. The apple fritters are the best ever, and I highly recommend the St. Louis (Boston) cr?me, chocolate filled, and glazed old fashioned. The rest are great too, but those are the favorites for our household. To avoid missing out on the high demand items go before 8am, as they open a 4am and close at 11am.

Super friendly, pleasant & prompt service. They had exactly what I needed to provide a delicious morning treat to my co-workers as a random act of kindness. Needless to say the donuts were devoured. Packed in a cute box. Priced appropriately. Variety of options along with beverages to wash the sugar rush away. Clean, COVID friendly. Masks required upon entry and worn by employees. Classic spot. The menu is just fantastic. Very affordable place to go for breakfast and coffee. The staff were super helpful and polite. This place is worth going to after driving by many other chain coffee shops and "fancy" local coffee places. Get here before noon because they will sell out fast. Great donuts! The outside looks a bit shady but don't let that scare you away from going inside! When you go up to order, you should be ready. One of the guys is likes to be efficient and if you fall behind he'll get irritated. The glazed donuts last a week in the refrigerator. Their danishes last 5-7 days. Definitely drink some milk with the donuts, it will taste much better.

Best donuts in St Louis, and honestly the best I've had in the United States. I rarely lavish praise, either. The donuts here are light, chewy, and not too sweet. I have been coming here on late nights since 2010 and honestly they have only gotten better since. Skip all the other donut shops and go to John's.

This was my first John?s experience because someone brought two boxes into work. Apparently their lemon filled donuts are pretty good because, lets say Jane, forgot to buy those and there was quite a commotion. Back to the donuts. They were light and not at all greasy. Recommend the chocolate long johns and don?t forget the custard donuts either.

Founds myself on south broadway at 11am on a Saturday killing time, and came across this shop. Picked up a few to take home to the family. WHERE DID YOU GET THESE?! We get donuts semi regularly, and from all the popular places in town, but I?ve never heard my family yell out loud asking me where I got these fantastic donuts. We are definitely fans and will return as often as we can. No place to hang out, you just get them and go, but we don?t usually hang out at a donut shop.

The absolute best donuts in STL, maybe even the world. I will tell you not to go there because it will ruin you for every other donut you'll eat. The staff is so kind and amazing. When you have a long, terrible night, Johns donuts are a saint covered in glaze.

So we moved to BP a few years ago and this ment that Donut Drive-in was no longer on the way to work (or near the house). Sad times for my belly. The great news for us was that John's is as good as any other South Side donut shop. You will not be disappointed. PLUS you get a great Arch view!

Wow what a great donut I've had their donuts several times and they were always fresh and they are amazing and the people are very very nice as well the only problem is I wish they had doordash so we could do delivery we would probably get them every day for my work because sometimes it's hard to get away but it is definitely worth it and they have great hours if you need donuts at 4:00 a.m. that's the only place you're going to get it I would definitely recommend you trying this donut shop fantastic.

I have patronized this place ever since I moved here from upstate New York. Post pandemic, the donuts are scant in filling; the amont of specific donuts are unavailable and I'm told "we only made a few" when I inquired of the counter staff who dismissed me as if I was talking to their wall; customer service is non-existent and product availability just as bad, even after arriving 10 minutes of their early, early opening,. Not good and I will take my business elsewhere. Gone downhill very badly.

This place is a St Louis staple! It?s corky and fun look are very misleading, because these are hands down the best donuts in the downtown area! The staff is ready to roll super early, so I called them at 5am to place an order for an office get together. They had it all ready by the time I swung by. When you open the door to the shop it smells like bakery sweets heaven! The staff is friendly, and the prices reasonable.

The open sign was on. Go in two big box of assorted doughnuts. No other doughnuts, but they did have muffins and some kind of brownie. They said sorry no doughnuts while offering the women in front of me both boxs at a discounted price. And the the women behind the counter made a rude comment. That was awesome!

I?m sorry but I went Monday and I could knock in the donuts I received. They were cold and hard. I?m sure they would have tasted better warmed up, but I was on the go to work. So I was expecting some soft fresh donuts at 8:40 in the am. I may have caught them on a bad day.

My all time favorite late night donut stop. My kids favorite donut place. They open late, as they start making the donuts. I try to get there around 1 a.m. if I am looking for warm fresh long johns, otherwise I shoot for after 3 a.m. when they have a lot of the different varieties ready. The donuts are amazing, nothing weird or strange or edgy, just fantastic straight-up donuts. The staff is always friendly as are the other patrons picking up a treat.

Love this place!! Was put on to them 2008 shot out to my big cousin for this Diamond in the ruff!! Highly recommend this place great fast service no matter how crowded, pastries always fresh warm and soft, and the employees are so helpful warming and welcoming!! Peak time's start around 5/6am but I usually slide through around 2:30ish 3AM.. Go grab you a dozen or two and leave or sit have a coffee, a couple of those donuts you bought, and enjoy some great company and conversation with the locals!!!

I come back to my hometown of St. Louis all the way from Florida to get the best Apple Fritters in the world! They melt in your mouth! My Dad?s favorite donut stop for many many years! He would get a variety, mostly Long John?s, for everyone. Nearby, convenient, dine in, fresh, and always tasty. Not a small or cramped donut shop like some are. Awesome people!

John's is the best place in the city for donuts to expect to find at any donut shop. They aren't going to have some crazy bacon marshmallow concoction, but their old-fashioned buttermilk rings, raspberry-filled glazed, soft and fluffy long johns, and delicious apple fritters are absolutely amazing. Not open on Sundays, but otherwise go here first if you're looking for donuts in the city.

I frequently go here for catering. The staff is very friendly, and always helps me carry the donuts to my car. They offer a large selection of your typical staple donuts (nothing too fancy), and they make them very well. The cake donuts are textured perfectly, and are 2nd to no other cake donuts that I've tried in St. Louis. John's Donuts will not let you down!

I live in south county, but sometimes work downtown. I usually pick up pastries in the county. Highway 55 is being worked on and the traffic varies. I had a few minutes and picked up a couple doughnuts for my coworkers. It had been a while since I had just John's doughnuts. The were delicious and all were gone before lunch. I will continue to go there for downtown treats.

I ordered four dozen donuts. They were ready when I got there. I even got a receipt. Not that we need to bring ink and paper into this. It's a donut.

This is a great local donut shop. The donuts are excellent. Lots of variety. The store is very clean. The dining room is small, bit most folks take the donuts to go. I bought two dozen donuts for $24. The even have a superman decoration theme. We were really happy with the quality, too.

It's what you want a donut shop to be. Friendly, small, full of regulars, and with amazing donuts. Great prices, great donuts, mediocre coffee, and good service. I'll be back often. Be aware that they close mid-day so make sure to get your donuts in the morning.

Donuts were very dark the last time I went there. The donuts otherwise are pretty good. The jelly donut with the white icing is the reason I will return_ sooooo good!

As a black woman, as soon as I stepped foot in the door , I instantly felt like I wasn?t supposed to be there. The lady was rude and rushing me to order, even though I was the only customer. It?s like she literally did not want me in there. The donuts were good, but the service was horrible & I most likely will not come back and spend my money in here ever again. John's Donuts are a right of passage in St. Louis. You absolutely have to come here at 11:00 PM for some freshly baked donuts. Make sure that you get the freshly made donuts (because obviously those are the most delicious). I highly recommend the chocolate donuts and the apple fritters. First, BEST APPLE FRITTER IN ST. LOUIS. We have been going since our twins were little and we would get up early and go with them still in their pajamas . They are 9 and it is still the tradition to go in your PJ's. We love their donuts and Alice is just the best. I can't even think of a donut I don't like there. The donuts are 5 stars. This rating is for the blonde lady that works there. She was very snooty and snappy at me as it was my first time being there and the fact that it was dead at 11pm surprised me. If you want happy customers, hire people that aren't crabby because she obviously needed sleep or anger management. I will certainly not walk in there again. Worst service, ever.

I came right in and got greeted. The baker was very nice and helpful picking some great tasting donuts. They were Reallllly great especially the regular glazed and blueberry glazed!! The building was packed, but service was super fast!

Never been a ?donut? guy but heard of this place from coworkers. We all switch up turns bringing donuts in on fridays. I realized you don?t know how good donuts can be until you get some from a place like Johns. Gas stations, Dunkins and grocery store donuts are not even close and honestly suck compared to Johns donuts.

Great donuts, and we love the folks here. But today, the young woman working the counter had her mask pulled down under her nose, covering only her mouth as she served food. The gentleman preparing donuts had his mask pulled down under his chin, so no coverage. So disappointing.

Exactly how a donut shop should be! A bit of throwback nostalgia and a ton of delicious donuts. The apple fritter was wonderfully crisp on the edges and super soft in the center. In and out in no time flat, nice crew to boot!

A biweekly stop because it is so good. The apple fritters are the best I've had. You will end up eating more than you planned and taking some home. It is extremely cheap too. Donuts were pretty good, service was horrible. The kid behind the counter cutting the dough had a real attitude on him. I would make sure to call ahead and let them know if you plan on getting more than a 1/2 dozen donuts because they don?t like you just coming in without a heads up.

This is located just east of Soulard Market on Broadway. Stop in if you get there early enough. Very friendly people and very good donut options. We have been here before and will return with each visit to the area.

Crazy delicious these glazed (or frosted) round morsels of heaven. I don't like apple fritters, but my friend insisted I try one. Instead of hard, crunch varieties I've been accustomed to, I got treated to a warm, soft, delightfully glazed with a hint of apple awesomosity. Where have you been all my life? I bought some to-go donuts, which lasted roughly 3min from unpacking my bag. Go. Stop reading this and go.

By far the best donuts in town. The texture of their donuts are divine. I usually just get a sugar donut because the dough itself is so good it doesn?t need to be hidden behind distracting toppings.

Has been known as the best donut place by St. Louis locals, definitely lives up to the expectations, the only downside is they changed their hours when COVID hit so you either have to catch them in the middle of the night or in the morning.
