Hook & Press Donuts

We came here because we were discussing locan spots to eat and a local stopped us and said Hook & Press has amazing donuts. Now thats advertising! Beautiful and spacious, but most importantly, delicious. I had the Cookie Monster and Lemon Berry Old Fashioned donuts! They were excellent.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Back in LA and STILL thinking of that Everything Bagel donut!! A must stop when you are in SB! DOGS ALLOWED: Yes! Patio seating, but they also allowed dogs inside. AMBIANCE: Noise level is average. Cute aesthetics with the color scheme, decor, and plants! ORDERED: [5/5] Everything Bagel: cream cheese filled and sOoOoOo yummy!!! Who doesn't like a lil savory and sweet treat?!? [4/5] P.O.G.: Passionfruit Orange Guava with guava filling. This was good! Just a tad bit sweet for me. [3/5]

If you're into gourmet donuts, this spot is definitely worth a visit! I absolutely loved the Everything Bagel donut ? the soft, creamy cream cheese filling was such a nice surprise. I also tried the Blood Orange Creamsicle and it was really good ? sweet, tangy, and not too heavy. Just a heads up, these donuts aren't your typical $2-$3 donuts ? they're more on the gourmet side, but the quality and unique flavors make them worth the treat. Plus, the shop's cute aesthetics make it a nice little stop!

The unique flavored fancy donuts are on the heavier side but they are delicious. The breakfast sandwiches are equally tasty and a little bit messy to eat. The service was good. It feels a bit cramped in the dining area when it?s full of people and the tables are a bit small when you have four people.

Best doughnuts not just in town but in world! Nobody does what hook & press does. Tremendous creativity and talent at work here. Imagination 101. They change custom flavors monthly and they are just absolutely ridiculously orgasmically delicious! The Friday apple fritters are unique. It's a hip place for sure. Or is "hip" no longer cool? What to do the kids say? The place has got aura? LOL. Anyway, on a Sunday morning, my teen son and I, visiting from out of town, sat down for our favorite breakfast food - sugar dowsed donuts! Plus some tea ro chase it all xown. Had a nice chat about mysteries of why the red velvet donut, as decadent as it looks, isn't at all sweet like the rest of our donuts. And how the orange earl grey isn't his favorite tea selection. Yum. Lots of options. Dough is so fluffy. Doesn't leave nasty deep fried taste in mouth for hours like most donuts. Great ingredients. Some can still be too sweet for me.

I know everyone comes for the donuts, but the avocado tartine is AMAZING and deserves a shout out! I could eat this everyday. It has the perfect amount of seasoning and ingredients. So good. Please never stop making this.

I am a usual customer here (since Hook & Press started on state street), i?ve always loved these donuts and coffee and continuously recommend them to anybody I know, my absolute favorite are the POG donuts, they helped us make a custom order for our wedding in SB courthouse (pictured below), but today, for father?s day, it was especially great. i want to give a very special thank you to the owner for going above and beyond to sit our family down and accommodate us, thank you all dearly!!!

Incredible selection of gourmet donuts, but they did not offer a single gluten-free donut. There were two vegan options, so I was very sad to discover not one donut that I could eat. They did offer a gluten-free waffle for those hoping to enjoy breakfast. I came with out-of-state company but will choose more gluten-free friendly options next time.

Once again the aptly named Meathead was my le choix du jour... savory cheesy and delicious to the last bite a favorite in will always get my sweet choice was a creme brulee with an eggnog cream filling... another resin to get back to the gym tomorrow... luuuv it!

Beautiful store and the doughnuts and drinks are even more beautiful! I got the Samoa and the passionfruit jasmine tea. The Samoa was a little too sweet for my taste, but the iced tea was perfect. The donut itself was a great texture, brioche desserts are the absolute best. There is ample space to sit and I had no problem studying here. This was an overall good experience.

There is nothing I love more than a good donut and Hook & Press has it DOWN. Their donuts are extremely fresh, fluffy, and delicious. I tried multiple of the seasonal flavors: blueberry crisp, raspberry peach, lemon olive oil--there was not a single I didn't like! The donuts are also not super sweet so perfect for the adult palate. Their espresso is fantastic and we even ordered the dog donut! A bit too hard for our pup but very aesthetically pleasing ??The staff is very friendly. All around fantastic spot!

Hook and Press donuts are delicious. The unique flavors and freshness are amazing. That's even though more places are doing specialty donuts these are really good. The deliciousness even extends to their breakfast meals. The sandwiches are amazing light and fluffy and tasty. In the heart of downtown Santa Barbara you have to try this place.

Obsessed! Without a doubt, my favorite donuts in SB. Not only are they beautiful, but the flavors are incredible too! If you?re a Santa Barbara local then you know that this place is what the locals are talking about. This is my first experience and so far incredible. I ordered caramel crunch donut and a breakfast sandwich. So fresh, so moist and so delicious I can?t wait to come back. And the cutest patio.

Well, I thought this place closed down because I didn't see it in the shared space with Buena Onda. But after casually riding down Fig, I noticed this location. We happened to find this amazing Donut & Coffee Shop during our recent trip to Santa Barbara and we're SO happy we did! The donuts are so unique and absolutely delicious; I had the savory "Everything" donut, and my husband had the "Browned Butter Caramel Old Fashioned". It's also a great place for a quick break - plenty of comfortable seating in a beautifully-designed space. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We can't wait to visit again!

Fun little gourmet donut shop in the same location as Jeanine's once was located. Good selection of donuts, sandwiches and drinks. The GOAT sandwich was a perfect compliment to the sweetness of the donut. Definitely a fun place to go with others so that you can gut up and share a variety of the donuts.

Bright and inviting space with a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Relaxed, beachy. I really liked the buttercream topping on the doughnuts. However, I wish the doughnuts were hot and fresh. There?s a restroom, but the toilet handle was broken when I visited. Works but needs a repair. Overall, a nice spot to enjoy a treat with family.

Excellent donuts and espresso drinks. Donuts constantly are being refreshed with new flavors and designs which are always lovely. All the employees are super friendly and helpful. Excellent merchandise as well, I bought 2 shirts and a mug! Highly recommended, you will not regret trying their donuts!

Surprisingly good stuff here between the everything bagel and the vegan breakfast sandwich which was much better than most vegan sandwiches! I got the tea which they had honey and cinnamon and other addins if you want. Friendly atmosphere, prices were a bit high but that's to be expected in Santa Barbara.

The donuts are good but I?ve had better at local lesser known mom and pop shops. Maybe I had a stale one but they tasted average and they were huge! The worker was so friendly to us and and our dogs. We bought some doggy donuts and enjoyed it outside with ours.

I am not one to leave a bad review of a local place, so first I will say that this spot is very cute, a great location with a great patio area, and delicious food. I have had multiple poor experiences with the coffee bar, unfortunately. The baristas do not greet me or acknowledge my existence. I have ordered ahead online on two occasions. Yummy , Special, delightful donuts. A star missing because there isn't any decription about each donuts, would be helpful to have descriptions about each donut so that while customers are waiting in line, they can read and make better, faster choice, instead of holding up the line by inquiring at the cashier.

DELICIOUS donuts...so light, fluffy and fresh. I had the classic, chocolate dipped with sprinkles and it wasn't overly sweet. The other flavours sounded delicious too (lemon raspberry cruller, browned butter)....but I was only 1 person. I would highly recommend this spot for coffee and donuts. Beautiful atmosphere too.

Great donuts, coffee, and food alert baby. They have a nice variety of creative donut flavors. So we had a few of them thangs. They also have several savory non desert options. I got that avocado toast, fire. Full coffee bar as well. Inside and outside seating. Highly recommend.

Their vegan donuts and breakfast options taste like they weren?t vegan (delicious) & were worth the price. Only complaint is finding parking in the designated lot structure can be annoying, especially weekends.

The donuts here are perfectly balanced. The light, airy dough pairs perfectly with their intensely flavored icings. Their selection of flavors is excellent, featuring a mix of elevated but classic flavors like twix as well as some unique flavors like golden milk and P.O.G. (pineapple orange guava) both pictured below. There's also a nice patio area to eat at.

The staff are very friendly and happy to explain the different donut flavors. There?s nice indoor and outdoor seating. They have donuts still into the afternoon which is very convenient.

The doughnuts themselves were delicious. The dough was perfectly cooked and amazing. We tried 4 different flavors and were only impressed by two. The lemon olive oil flavor was good but nothing special, the peach raspberry flavor didn't taste like a peach or a raspberry. Just pure sugar. The maple bacon flavor was very good but the S'mores flavor was hands down our favorite! Marshmallow and chocolate flavors with Graham cracker crumble. Would eat several of those alone! While I love the new location with its airy design, something has happened to the donuts. These used to be the best I had in my life and now they are just average. Still creative toppings but something has changed with the dough. I waited and waited for the reopen this spring but it?s just not the same as a year ago ?? For most people it?s probably still great but I?m a donut snob?

Hook and Press occupies a bright, airy, high ceilinged spot previously occupied by Jeannine's, nestled deep in Santa Barbara's scenic Paseo shopping street. The interior decor isn't much, and the service feels institutional and cafeteria-like... but.... but... these donuts will change your life. They are like a religious experience. I can't describe them...you have to go see. Go.

Got a Boston Creme, was not very creme filled. I was able to scoop out 1 spoonfull and show were the creme was after I cut it in half. If they cut the doughnut in half, then filled it, would be 100% better. ADD To your reply: I did mention this on your fb page, with pictures and you deleted my post. On August 15, 2024, we arrived at your establishment at 3:20 PM, believing we had time to get a donut since the posted closing time is 4 PM. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found that the shop was already in the process of closing, and there were no donuts left. Additionally, two of the employees did not acknowledge us when we inquired about the availability of donuts, seeming to ignore us completely. Please consider adjusting your closing time to better reflect when your products are actually available

This place is cute and super clean.. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing. The donuts are different, I would say not a traditional donut, the dough isn't sweet, more dense.. they are decorated beautifully... Their cruller dunuts are my favorite they are sweeter, I had one with a champagne butter cream glaze, sooo good... I wish they had that one all the time.

Used to be a key spot to stop when going through SB but this time nobody was doing retail, the workers in the back ignored my attempts to get their attention, finally someone came and started helping someone who had just walked up regardless that I had been attempting to get service for over five minutes (the donuts used to be worth it). The retail person didn?t care that I had was ahead of the other and so I left. Do not go here unless you want miserable service.

Picked up a Sausage Egg + Cheese and latte today. Requested that the herby avocado mayo be left off the sandwich. Apparently they put it on, realized and then tried to scrape it off. Unfortunately I dislike the mayo and could still taste it. Tossed sandwich away. Latte was lukewarm. UPDATE: Just wanted to add the owner had replied immediately to my post and offered a reimbursement (I didn't take). Good to see an owner/manager respond to a post, especially in such a timely manner.

We had the brown butter, vanilla bean, and red velvet donut. All were amazing. The brown butter donut is next level.

In town from WDC and OMG this place is amazing. The best biscuits and turkey(!) gravy I?ve ever had, and I?ve had them countless times in the south. And forget about the donuts- to die for. My favorite is the brioche brown butter. You won?t be disappointed!

I don?t get the hype. The donuts are overly fancy and ridiculously sweet. The layout is confusing with different counters for donuts, sandwiches, and coffee. Their breakfast sandwiches, which consist of egg, bacon, etc. I figured would be savory, but it came out on a donut which totally threw off my palate. I?m addicted to them! Now, my review has to do with the attitude of some of the employees. Their attitude at times can be uppity. As if they are above me. That?s ok. Went here this morning for a quick snack w my toddler. Lovely atmosphere and the gentleman working the counter was extremely helpful with recommendations. My coffee was nice and strong, and our breakfast biscuit sandwich was delicious. Can?t wait to go back!

Very impressed with their donut and the brunch! The biscuits sausage sandwich was amazing!!!! Not dry, crisp outside but moist inside. Lavender latte was not as outstanding but still very good. If you come pass noon, you will have fewer options of donut. Come early!

If I could give it a 0 star then I would horrible customer service the barista was really rude as ignoring my request and complete ignored me the owner was very rude never going her again.

Such a lovely place to hang out or study/work at! The donuts are absolutely to die for, as well as the coffee and other breakfast options. Our favorites so far are the browned butter donut, GOAT sandwich, and peanut butter cup latte! It does get a little busy/loud, so be sure to come at a good time. Outdoor seating is also available and very nice! We've been in SB for less than two weeks and have already been back to Hook & Press three times--that's how good it is!!

The coffee here is surprisingly delicious and the donuts were amazing! I really enjoyed this place. I ordered the Gibralter Espresso and the blood orange doughnut, my husband had the everything bagel and we shared the coastal fog! They were all good! Definitely will return!

I stopped by with my wife and daughter on a Friday early afternoon and we ordered six donuts. My favorites were the Maple Coconut Bacon and Butterscotch Brittle. The donuts were light, soft, and perfect. The glaze was incredible, not overwhelming, and delicious. These are the some of the best donuts I?ve ever had - better than Psycho in San Jose and better than Sidecar in Santa Monica.

Gourmet donuts are my thing and they have THE BEST! Flavors will run out if you are there after 10 on weekends but highly recommend the brown butter & s?mores. The fruity specialty donuts are also good and beautifully made, almost artistic. Plenty of outdoor seating in the front and the back. I wish they were cleaning tables in between people during these times but they don?t do that ??. Also wish they enforced the 6ft rule inside. It gets a little crammed.

A long overdue addition to Santa Barbara and I love it! The coffee was awesome and the donuts hit the spot. Yes donuts, I couldn?t pick just one so I had 2. Don?t like to leave negative reviews but here it goes. Went for burger week and ordered two of the burger week specials. Really busy and it?s understandable, not upset about that. Got my burger and it didn?t have the pretzel bun that was advertised. I was really hoping this would be a lovely place. The food was below average and the owner/staff are atrocious! They are so condescending and arrogant, and won't even take accountability for a mistake they made. I will never go back and hope you avoid at all costs! Don't go and get food poisoning!!!
