Half and Half Doughnut Co.

Half and Half Doughnut Co.

Reviews Summary

Half and Half is widely praised for its exceptional donuts, particularly the old-fashioned varieties, pineapple fritters, and cream-filled options, with many calling them the best in Seattle. The texture—crispy outside, fluffy inside—and creative flavors stand out. Coffee receives mixed reviews, with some finding it average while others love it. Service is generally friendly, though a few reports mention rudeness. The shop's cozy, welcoming atmosphere and dog-friendly policy are highlights, though some note cleanliness issues outside. Pricing is considered high but fair for the quality. Consistency and unique offerings keep customers returning, despite occasional critiques of sweetness or filling ratios.

I never had a pineapple fritter until this shop, and it was absolutely delicious! I also recently tried their raspberry old fashioned and that might be my new favorite. The frosting is made from real raspberry puree made in the shop. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Half and Half was awesome! I am so glad that I found this donut shop! I had the black and white flavor old fashioned donut as well as the La Canela flavor old fashioned donut. Both flavors were delicious. I am usually not a fan of an old fashioned donut, but these were different, and I am a fan! The donuts were fresh and had a delicious taste and were moist. It is a small shop with a very hipster type of vibe and my wife and I loved it. I definitely recommend half & half for delicious donuts!

Stumbled upon this shop today, 11/23/24 and saw the donuts through the window. It?s a small cute shop and the donuts are delicious! In the photo (yes I have tried each) are the triple chocolate, the vanilla old fashioned, the chocolate covered vanilla old fashioned, and the Georgette. All of them taste fantastic!! 10/10 no notes!

Great glazed mochi and banana caramel Bismark donuts. The old-fashioned was dry, but had good yuzu flavor. I was hoping for a greater selection of donuts, especially on National Donut Day. Drip coffee is good. Glad we could try it on our trip to Seattle.

Delicious fluffy creamy cream filled donut. Spendy ($6 a donut) but on par for what you?d expect on Cap Hill. Excited to come back and try some other donuts! Also, the little cafe chairs outside are super cute and it?s nice to just sit and eat your donut, sip your coffee, and watch the world go by.

Delish old school donuts. The dough is so good, makes me think of getting donuts when I was a kid and the flavors are a mix of old and new/curious. They had the classics: glazed old fashioned, maple bar, Bismarck?s etc and newer ones like bacon maple bar, Nutella filled Bismarck, apple cider old fashion, vanilla glazed old fashioned and the best one yet, a maple glazed old fashion. Cole get your donuts here!

Great donuts! I really like the "boston cream-filled poppers" I'm not sure what they're called at your store, but i will try the Bananas Foster next! Thank you! :)

I really enjoyed the donuts from Half and Half, I would recommend them even if they're on the road pricier side. I personally really like the Mexican chocolate original and the pineapple fritter most but the chocolate hazelnut donut was also pretty good. The filling wasn't that sweet, which is what I really liked about this place. The dragon fruit one wasn't my favorite but if you like sweets I think you might like it. I personally don't love the tea here, they could have a better selection but what can you

Love their large old fashioned with different fashions! The plain have crispness on outside, and moist spoungey on the inside! They are all that and a donut for a dunkin'! Great coffee and breakfast biscuits as well! Gotta get in early if u want to have a variety of choices as they get down to slimmer pickin'z later in the day!????????????????????????????????????????

I come here at least once a week and they're always great. I especially recommend the fritters, the raspberry old fashioned and the cinnamon old fashioned (please bring back the lime donut!!). Coffee is great too - they make one of my fav iced mochas in the area!!

Half and Half is one of my favorite spots on the hill. I only recently discovered they have food options, after two years living off their bombas. Their hours are short, so get there before noon to get the best assortment of donuts and treats.

Delicious place to go to for breakfast. Very, very few places both open as early as 6AM and are worth going early for. The maple glazed old fashioned was nothing special, but a solid bite. The buttermilk biscuits with jam is the hidden gem. The breakfast brioche is average and has a fatty texture to it.

This was my second time here but last time we got just some breakfast sandwiches which I remember were okay. This time we took a plain vanilla which was not that good to be honest. Left a lingering feeling of oil(or some fat used to make the doughnut) in my mouth. The lemon glaze was better and we also took the maple bar which was the best among the three we took. We took a cappuccino as well which was pretty good.

Been here greater part of a year and Id recommend no one more. They have the best coffee in seattle and their biscuits and egg bites are phenomenal. If you're new to seattle do try them! This is a unique menu and authentic Seattle.

Loved this place. Was the first time I stepped foot into this place of business but let me just say some of the most patient people, for I ordered hell donuts for my culinary classmates. Will be back soon. Donuts were super good!

Loved it. The donuts were fantastic. Lots of great selection. Some of the best donuts I have had. Everyone loved there's. The store is really cool inside. They have these wood paneled espresso machines that look awesome. Location is great to sit out on the street and enjoy your donuts. If you drive a lot of parking is close by. Staff is amazing as well. Very friendly. Overall great experience.

Everything was really pretty good. Not amazing but they have unique and interesting flavors. I got 6 doughnuts and tried a few bites of each along with a hot chocolate. The pineapple fritter was very yummy. The churro doughnut didn?t stand out, basically a churro. The old fashioned was my favorite! The filled are also good.

After walking by an unmentionable amount of times before an open date sign was put up, I'm excited that I finally got to try some donuts from Half-n-Half! *Highly* recommend the Old-Fashioned donut. The current flavor was the Chai Old-Fashioned, and it was spiced to perfection. The bananas foster was a solid banana creme inside, but the dough seemed a little heavier than I expected. The pineapple fritter was a fantastic change from a usual apple. I wasn't a huge fan of the chai latte, but I might have to tr

Fun flavors in different shapes and sizes. The dough is fluffy and the flavors are unique. I am a big fan of the passionfruit and bananas foster. They have some traditional flavors like chocolate and plain, but the fun ones are the best part. Its more spendy than top pot or QFC donuts, but thats because its unique and tasty. Staff were friendly and was in and out quickly.

A little known secret about me is I?m obsessed with donuts. I really really enjoy them and I would eat them everyday if I could without consequence. Half and Half Doughnut Co has been on my list of donut shops here in Seattle to try. We happen to walk in right as they put a nice row of fresh glazed raspberry old fashions on the shelf, so I had to order one of those. I also ordered a black and white chocolate donut and a cream filled donut as seen in the pictures. The women working the counter was extremely

super sweet staff and a yummy old fashioned donut! not anything mind blowing, but good. happy to support a smaller business over top pot or mighty o. nearly $4 for the donut which felt a bit much, but it was a good size. overall, good breakfast treat!

Visited to grab a doughnut with my daughter. A staff member asked a question to her which she didn?t hear and nicely asked for them to repeat. The staff member was very disrespectful and told her she shouldn?t be on her phone when someone is talking to her (she was not ordering, just standing next to me). Generally disrespectful and unnecessary behavior. Additionally, the donuts were also not a favorite and overpriced. Hours of store are also not dependable and frustrating.

Donuts are good, nice unique styles and very creative flavors. Cute shop with friendly staff. Espresso was just okay, not very strong. But definitely worth it for the special donut types and flavors.

I?m on a slow going mission to try every donut in seattle. I got one of each of the 10 donuts they had available. Half and half is aptly named, because half of their donuts are INCREDIBLE and the other half are BAD. Filled donuts: 5/5. Significantly better than general porpoise (nearest spot with that specialty) in terms of both flavor choice and filling to donut ratio. Old fashioned: 1/5. If you gave me a single one of them and a coffee there is no way I would eat the whole thing before throwing it out

Half n Half is elevated doughnuts at a reasonable price point. I?ve been trying out various doughnut places around Seattle for years, this is one of my favourites thus far. I?m always so excited to see what flavours they have, and they?re Mochi bites are sooo good and have a perfect texture. The custard filled doughnuts here are so creamy, and the coffee/ caramel doughnut (Marocchino) is a must try.

We got the pumpkin old fashioned, almond joy, and pumpkin spice filled ball with some coffee. The workers were super friendly and they make donuts throughout the day so depending on what time you go, theres different flavors available. The prices were average, they're big donuts so I thought it was really well priced.

Donuts !! I walk by this place every time I walk to work and finally decided to stop in. So glad I did!! I got the La Canela, Vanilla, and Lemon old fashioned donuts. The La Canela is a maple/cinnamon donut. ?It perfect. I wouldn?t change a thing? said my coworker who I shared these delicious donuts with. She said the taste was reminiscent of the cinnamon sugar toast her mom used to make. Now I personally would have loved a little heavier on the maple flavor in this donut but it was so delicious. The cla

The pineapple fritter was amazing! As was the mochi ring and old fashion donut. Definitely worth a visit.

Did a Yelp search for local donut shops and found this place within a half mile of our hotel on first Hill. Nice leisurely stroll through the neighborhoods into Capitol Hill at 8:00 a.m.. Decided to get sous vide eggs to start and got the caramelized onion with bacon and cheese. I am serious when I say get yourself one! It was a great start to the morning. Of course we ordered several flavors of donuts to carry back to our hotel..... The pineapple fritter is such a unique taste and so crispy on the edges! P

My wife and I were visiting Seattle from Tucson AZ! For the longest time I was searching for a pineapple fritter, it might have been a coincidence or fate but this place opened on Oct 10, and we we?re around a week later (Oct 17 and our last day in Seattle) we immediately went to this place! Their doughnuts did not disappoint!!! The pineapple fritter was AMAZING!!! The sweetness and chunks of pineapple were a perfect balance!! On top of that, the workers were great! We had an awesome experience, and met the

It was disappointing. The doughs were good but the glazes overpowered the donuts making them overly sweet. I have a huge sweet tooth and even I couldn?t enjoy it. I wanted to like this place so much, but they gave me sugar with a sprinkle of donuts. The Bomba filling was delicious but the proportions were off, I needed more dough (or less filling).

I visited Half & Half Doughnut on Sunday morning after walking by right before they closed earlier in the week and seeing that they have a churro doughnut and knowing I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. I picked up 2 churro doughnuts, a georgette (cinnamon sugar twist), and a special maple pecan fritter. Needless to say, I'm glad I went back as they were delicious. The churro doughnuts have a slight outer crunch, delightful cinnamon flavor, and sweet and soft inner dough texture/flavor. The georgette (cinnamon sugar t

Seattle's not short of donut options, but Half & Half's high quality and combination of classics and modern donuts makes it a more than welcome addition. I can't recommend the pistacchio donut enough, and if you're looking for a donut filled with nutella, you will be very happy here.

I got to have their Pineapple Fritter and it was so yummy with the different fruit alternative with some lightly chewy chunks in it! Loved how they were fresh made, and some other awesome ones I?ll have to come back and try!

the caramelized espresso creme filled donut was unreal. my wife got the chocolate hazelnut creme and it was just as good. highly recommended!

I can't say enough about these donuts! I have tried others but these are truly worth the calories. Very close to the Starbucks reserve roastery.

Interesting donuts, I like that there's mini versions so you can sample more. It is on the pricier side in my opinion. I got the cronut, old fashioned and bomba. Out of all of them, the cronut was my favorite. Like and flaky and good flavor, the old fashioned was probably my least favorite, it doesn't have the old fashioned texture, more cakey/soft.

Awesome doughnuts, great coffee, and friendly staff. This little shop has interesting flavors and a really cool vintage feel. I love the pull coffee. I would come back all the time if I lived closer. The bananas foster doughnut is killer! That sweet banana cream filling is to die for.

We enjoyed our little visit here. The flavours and textures were different, and delicious, not just different for novelty. The tiny window facing bar is a nice touch to take a seat. Some outdoor seating too but it?s metal so bring some warmer pants as the days get chillier!

Fantastic old fashioned doughnut. Exactly the right level of crispy crunchy and moist in the middle. We also had the sous vide eggs with french onion. Very good. Go early because they may sell out.

Get the Banana Foster!! It's my favorite and go-to every time! The filling is to-die-for~ The pineapple fritter is interesting, but in the acidic side. The old-fashioned ones are too sweet for my taste.

Delicious and fresh doughnuts with some awesome, out-of-the-box flavors! Pineapple fritter, espresso cream filled, and tea cake?! Like what?! Cake doughnut also wasn't dry like other places. Awesome vibes as well!

Tasty pastries but imo pineapple fritter and banana one don?t need the sugar glaze. I think you should have options glaze/no glaze . I just took a bite of the cinnamon one and yup little to much sugar texture and flavor saved the day .

I love how they use real chocolate sprinkles (not just brown colored sprinkles) and at the bottom of the donut hole they put a little chocolate button which is a great surprise and texture. It?s the small details here that make it stand out. I also love the croissant donuts. Their donuts are not too sweet in a great way. I don?t feel like I?m going to have a cavity after I eat one but I still feel like I?m eating a really good dessert.

The donuts were SO sweet (too sweet). The consistency of the donut itself was good, but the sweetness ruined the strawberry flavor. The bomba was ? okay. The coffee was ? just, okay. Nothing I?m wild about.

I come in to HnH on occasion so have only been a handful of times, however every time it absolutely nails the spot every time. Best breakfast sandwich I have ever had, the tomato pesto is a deliciously genius idea, and the donuts knock my socks off every time. Biggest thing I would commend them for is consistency, I can always count on it to be as good if not better than the last time. Would also commend them for their bananas foster cream, I get it Everytime in one form or another and it is to die for.

The banana foster donut was delicious, but $5 for a donut is quite pricey.

The staff were just delightful. We stopped in here after a heavy night of drinking looking for a breakfast sandwich and a hot chai. They brought it out in spades. The breakfast sandwich's bread was perfect, the egg was thick, and the bacon was the same. It was noticeable that they were not skipping out on quality ingredients. They spoke to us about some other options on the menu and took their time. Never felt rushed. There were even other locals that were very friendly that stopped in. It was a heartwarmi

I love old fashioned donuts and they do them well - I keep meaning to try other things but the old fashioned donuts are just so good! Prices are typical Seattle - high but worth it once in a while for a treat. And the people working there have been very polite and welcoming every time I've visited.

Stopped by randomly early one morning after a long night out, seemed to be the only place open in area. Staff was super friendly and gave a good recommendation (coconut latte iced w/ soy). They didn?t seem the slightest bit annoyed when I asked for a glass of water (which I didn?t have to pay for) or to borrow a pen. Great music too. Was a great spot to just vibe and recharge my phone. I only wish that it was bigger and they had more seating or tables. There?s only a bar that faces outside, with about 3 sea

My favorite donut spot in Seattle! Unique and handmade, delicious and filling! I come back every few weeks to try a new flavor, as they always have new and fun old fashion donuts. The savory biscuit is easily my favorite thing ever, it's perfect for breakfast on the go! The breakfast sandwiches are super filling and heavy on the butter, which is fantastic, but it's a little heavy. And you have to get the coffee!

If your looking for a delicious glazed donut ?? this is the place. What a comfy vibe!

Truly the best donuts and fritters that ever were. The cases are filled with jewel-like pastries and none will disappoint. The old fashioned donuts, the incredible scones, the biscuits and fritters all make for delicious breakfast treats. The coffee is stellar, as well, making it a perfect place to stop for a morning pick-me-up. We stopped by Sunday as it was one of the only places open early during a recent trip from NYC and have made a point of going every morning. Friendly and prompt service, as well! We

Their chai latte wasn't too sweet or spicy and the donuts were delicious ??

Very nice little coffee/donut shop. Warm and welcoming environment. A very cute place. I loved what I saw there. There was something magic in the air, maybe it's just the aroma of the fresh donuts. Both can be rather intoxicating. Being Valentines day they were busy but still was happy to find them open and plan on returning very soon

The old fashioned donuts are so good. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect texture. I haven't liked the other donuts that they have. Some of the ones with filling were good, but the ratios were off and the filling a bit heavy. But the old fashioned is worth it. They have a bunch of different flavors, but they're all good you can't go wrong. You do need to go pretty early on weekends or they might sell out. They seem to have donuts until the close on weekdays though.

My daughter and I stopped in Half and Half this afternoon and we'd never been before. There weren't many doughnuts left because of how late we stopped in but, we were lucky to snag a Banana Fosters and Boston Creme Bomb. Wow! They were definitely some of the most delicious doughnut I've ever had. The creme inside was so deeply flavored and the crackle stuff on top. Wow, wow! We met the owner Christine while there and chatted because I noticed they serve Fulcrum espresso like our coffee shop in West Seattle.

Always good coffee (especially love the iced mocha in the summer) and AMAZING donuts - I recommend La Canela and all of the chocolate old fashioneds

Small spot- not really any options to sit except outside (which is fine with me, but just a heads up). Service was kind and friendly and quick. I had the POG donut- it was just okay. It didn?t really taste like passion fruit but it was a good cake donut in general.

Had maybe the best boston cream donut of my life here- not overly sweet, fluffy, and the custard filling had real vanilla bean flecks. Their chai is good too!

Great donuts! They had a limited run of the gingerbread scone, which was fantastic! Their donuts overall are rich, fluffy and quite large. Highly recommend trying if you?re in the area.

I like the original look and the fact they offer unusual/rare flavors. Coffee is above average for a non coffee place. Donuts themselves are not great The dough feels a bit stale even though I came at 7am. The filling is cringinly sweet with underwhelming flavor. They use the same base cream for all of their donuts and (it seems like) just add flavored syrup. If they were $2.5 each, I wouldn't complain that much, but $18 for 3 donuts and coffee...

Coffee 5, donuts 3. I just wanted simple warm fresh donuts. We got there just after they opened the selection was limited. Overly glazed. More glaze than the donut. The donuts were cold. Could have been a day old or two hours old - it wouldn't make a difference. It was disappointing, considering the reviews. For amazing donuts, try Super Nice Caf? in New York in East Harlem. Sublime.

Some of the best donuts in town! They always have interesting flavors like a passion fruit old fashion and the pineapple fritter is absolutely incredible!! If you get lucky enough to score one of their homemade pop tarts don't hesitate you won't regret it!!

the mochi donuts here are phenomenal!!! best donuts Ive had ??

Been here a couple times and it's been a mixed bag. The best thing I had here was the chai old fashioned, and it was legit good. (Thanks for actually mixing some of the flavor into the dough instead of just relying on the glaze!) But I also got the last one (arrive early!) and other items I've had don't shine as brightly. Pomegranate old fashioned- tasted like generic "pink flavor" to me. Very sweet and vaguely tart w/ minimal discernable pomegranate flavor. OTOH, it was my wife's favorite. (But she

I came here around 1PM to grab a post-lunch dessert, and there were so many choices that were all quite unique. I asked for the most popular one and was told the old fashioned ones are quite popular (especially chai and another one that I forgot). I ended up getting a passion fruit old fashioned. The icing was quite tart but didn't have a super strong passion fruit taste, and there was a lot of icing. The old fashioned donut itself wasn't very crispy, and it was in general just okay. Definitely pricey for a

Did our research to find the best donuts in Seattle and Half and Half did not disappoint! The donuts were amazing and the service was lovely! 5 ??

Doughnuts are amazing. Service is consistently rude. Such bad attitude when I come in. Then extra bad attitude when you don?t tip, which why would I tip when you were just rude to me?

Such a delicious donut! I got the vanilla glazed old fashioned. For the price, it's huge. And the natural vanilla flavor comes through nicely. Way better and fresher than Top Pot and Mighty O. This is a classic, boutique shop. Go and support :)

Some of my favorite donuts ever, especially when they have the passionfruit old fashioned. Today we learned that its usually a winter special, but the person behind the counter today went above and beyond for my son when they didn?t have it available and made him something special with ingredients they had in the kitchen.

I have a problem with donuts: I think most of the places would have the same taste and texture in the donut besides the icing. We bought the raspberry and the icing was delicious, sweet and soft. We also got the one filled with banana, and it was a interesting experience. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. They have a looot of options, and the donut average price is 4usd.

got a biscuit and jam and it was so fluffy and delicious

Wow! If you see that Bismarck Espresso filled donut, promise me that you will try it no matter what. That thing is delicious! The coffee is also great and the baristas are all very kind and friendly. I wish I took a picture of that donut to share it on here, but boy could I not wait to devour it. Yum! Highly recommend this place even if you just want coffee or donut.

These are the best donuts I've ever had. Got the marochinno Bomba and old fashioned vanilla donut and both had great texture and flavor. I also liked their tea and drip coffee

Stopped by while walking around the city. Very cute and staff was friendly. Doughnuts tasted great!

Amazing donuts and coffee. The only suggestion I would make (and the reason for the 4 star review) is that the front of the store, where the outside chairs and tables are, should be swept up in the morning when they open. Enjoying my coffee and donut would have been more enjoyable if I wasn't surrounded by trash left by homeless people the night before.

I can't find a single thing wrong with this shop! Super cute Amazing flavour combinations friendly staff excellent coffee

Outstanding donuts. I felt so good to have an old fashioned this good today. Worth the calories haha. Staff was super friendly

The best donuts in Seattle, hands down. In a very unassuming small shop with some window seating and outdoor bistro tables. Dog friendly!

Best doughnuts we had in Seattle by far

Service was so fast and the donuts were so yummy. A good variety. They don't do dozens or half dozens so each piece is individual. It's hard to chose which one but they do have minis! And the coffee was awesome. Covid safe and limit the amount of people allowed inside, so you may have to wait on the sidewalk.

The Bananas Foster Bismarks were fluffy and sweet, and the cream inside had an excellent banana flavor. The Pineapple Fritter had a nice sugary crunch to it. The staff was warm and welcoming.

Amazing doughnuts! They always have an array of unique flavors, plus mochi doughnuts. Best I?ve had in the city, also their chai is incredible. Great staff too

They charge $5 for one of the most boring glazed donuts I've ever had. If you love trendy capitalistic greed, then you'll love this place.

A small local doughnut and coffee shop. This place has fantastic doughnuts, some very great options of cream filled doughnuts, and... AND..... PINEAPPLE FRITTERS. As a pineapple lover (yes, I believe it belongs on pizza), I was super excited to find these pineapple fritters. They are the absolute best. They also have great breakfast sandwiches! My go-to order is the Half & Half breakfast sandwich and a pineapple fritter with coffee. If I'm feeling a bit naughty, I'll get myself a few more doughnuts that I a

I'm always on the search for the best donuts around the world and Seattle is a great place to find awesome donuts. But half and half is at the top of my list in Seattle and across the world. They do not have the selection and their only true classic donut is the old fashioned which they raise to an art form. The plain vanilla is my top choice for classic donut anywhere but they have a cinnamon one, pineapple and chai one that are all amazing. But the absolute most amazing donuts they have are the filled do

The vanilla old fashioned elevates the fried cyclops to Michelin 3 star. Enjoy.
