Grounds Donut House

Grounds Donut House

Reviews Summary

Grounds Donut House receives overwhelmingly positive reviews for its delicious, fluffy, and creatively flavored donuts, often described as "to die for" and worth the trip. Many praise the friendly, helpful staff and the stylish, inviting atmosphere. The donuts are large, fresh, and visually appealing, with unique toppings and rotating specials. Coffee and lattes are frequently highlighted as excellent complements. A few critics note high prices or occasional inconsistency in freshness, but most agree the quality justifies the cost. Negative reviews mention rare issues like stale donuts or service hiccups, but these are outliers. Overall, it’s a beloved spot for gourmet donuts and coffee.

Customer Reviews

Such an intresting cute find. Came first donuts found out the offer much more. Donuts are diffrent don't think some of flavors I had ever heard of. Such a vibe the atmosphere is too. Service was very friendly and informative. Love this spot

At a work location near Danbury, someone thankfully brought a large box of Grounds Donut House doughnuts for everyone to share. Really top-notch baked goods. Unique flavors, elaborate toppings, and fine yeast risen cake density put the large donut chain that can be found here in CT as well as other states to shame. Their coffee is supposed to be amazing, too, including Italian espresso. If you are having an event, a food truck is available. They have one other location in the Bronx on Tremont Avenue.

Lots of options, and really cool atmosphere inside. The donut itself wasn't really anything super special (unless you get one of the crazy ones with a bunch of toppings), but the place has a nice vibe

I'm shocked that I haven't made a review sooner! I come here at least once a week, and I have to say they have stepped their game up since first opening. They have the basic donuts every day, which are great don't get me wrong, but the rotating weekly flavors are where it's AT. They also have coffee, lattes, teas... etc. They're great for literally any occasion or when you just need some sweets!!! Yes, I am that person that takes a million pics of food, lol. We love you guys and very happy for your success.

Cool spot! Awesome coffee and donuts and not enough stomach (or insulin) to eat them all! A cute selfie wall! ??

Delicious, fresh, fun donuts! Soft with interesting toppings. Selection changes, but blueberry muffin and reese's pieces were awesome! The atmosphere is a fun coffee shop with great drinks. Reasonably priced for a large, fancy donut and they're safely packed for transport.

I?ve ordered via Uber eats from here in the past and liked the donuts, but going in and getting them fresh was much better. Everyone who helped me was so friendly. The inside is really cool and spacious. My favorite donut is definitely the blueberry one and I was so excited to grab the last one. Iced banana bread latte with oat milk was really good too!

I didnt even know about Grounds until recently. This is a very cute little spot that does special donuts and gourmet coffee. We tried two frosteds and the somoa and they were both fresh and tasty despite being in the early afternoon. They have an elite european looking coffee machine so I tried a flavored latte and it was excellent. Nice people and great service too. Highly recommended!

A high end donut shop ($4+ per donut) that has about 10 flavors of donut at any 1 time. The donut itself is about medium thickness, and all the toppings are quite good (coffee cake and blueberry were stand outs). The mini donuts tasted sort of stale in comparison even though they looked good. Coffee is a 3/5 medium roast, perfectly fine, but not great. Seating space is really nice if not exactly cozy.

I did an on line order as two days before this donut shop was out of most everything by 11am; when we had stopped in for a cool refreshment & donuts. Lots of high top tables & an island that is also high too make it difficult to anyone with a handicap to sit. The on line ordering was a cinch a day before pick up; to ensure we had some of the specialty donuts that are ending on the 23rd. Our order was ready on time & beautifully presented in their cheerful pink box. Upon opening the box, the donuts are a go

Honestly these donuts were so delicious! They are so soft and fluffy they legit melt in your mouth definitely worth the trip to eat them. The location is decorated so pretty and perfect to take pictures even the bathroom was decorated nicely!

Although I am not a big fan of donuts, I love their lattes. I enjoy that they spice up their menu with seasonal drinks. I will say this though, their customer service is great.

Our kids love their donuts. Recently tried their donut grilled cheese. It was very tasty and savory, I was expecting a little more sweetness. All their tables are bar height, I wish they had a few at regular height for the kids or elderly / handicapped use. Overall a great place for a treat.

Seeing all the highly rated review about this place peaked by interest. I ordered a three donuts and they were nothing to brag about. The churro donut did not have much flavor. The plain donut was a bit dry as well. Try it for yourself but places like Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts, and Voodoo Doughnuts are tastier.

Nice and fluffy donuts! I got the Somosa donut. Super good! Not overly sweet.

I have been seeing this place on Instagram any help for a few weeks now. My wife brought some home from Danberry to try. I love their presentation and variety of specialty donuts. I assumed the price would be a lot higher for specialty donuts. It wasn?t much more than national chain brands. The donuts were good. I tried a little piece of all them. Some I liked, others not as much. We got Nutella, bacon maple, churro, fruity pebbles, and glazed. My favorite was the Nutella followed by the churro. Sadly it?s

Kind staff and to die for donuts. Definitely worth the trip. Price is very fair for what your getting. I will definitely be returning. Dunkin donuts is nothing compared to this place. Originally I think they weren't always making sure the donuts were fresh but I went at a later time again and this time they were fresh so I think they are more on top of that now. I will be going way more now. If you haven't been here yet you need to try these donuts. The only down side at this point is they are only open unt

donut and iced latte was very yummy, cute interior, friendly service will be back here :)

Donuts are always great! Staff can be hit or miss, some are really really nice but I've also dealt with some that are really really rude. But it's worth it for the food!

Great presentation, good donuts, tasty but based on the reviews I had higher expectations flavor-wise. Still come back when in the area hoping I will find a new flavor that will change my review to 5-star one day ??

We've been taking the drive here for a couple years now! The best donuts around!! The iced lattes are also amazing!

Our first time. The donuts were fluffy pillows! I didn?t go in but my 3 yr old and wife chose our donuts. I think he chose coffee cake for me and fruity pebbles for himself. Really really good donuts.

Great donuts and not too expensive. I like how they offer mini versions if you don?t want to eat an entire one by yourself.

Somewhat disappointing considering the hype. Don't get me wrong, the toppings were enjoyable, but the yeast base was lacking in flavor and freshness. The Ube donut was a unique offering, but wasn't pulled off particularly well, unfortunately. The oatmeal cream pie was probably the best of the bunch, and while I wouldn't go out of my way for Grounds donuts again, I also wouldn't hesitate to grab an oatmeal cream pie donut if I find myself there again in the future.

Grounds Donuts House is incredible! We had the Banana Cream, Maple Bacon and Coffee Cake donuts. They were all delicious and huge. They change their donuts by week and they have never disappointed. Definitely recommend thisbplace for a savory or sweet treat.

I was visiting the area and decided to Google places to try and this place popped up. Staff and concept were great but the donuts, although big were only okay. I got 2 chocolate peanut butter dream, 2 churro and 1 lemon blackberry. Total for 5 donuts came out to $20 with another $1.47 for tax. The churro was basically a cinnamon sugar donut and I felt it could have been purchased at ShopRite. For the price point I was expecting something closer to Doughnut Plant in NYC.

This place is awesome. Looks like a coffee bar in the village. Very laid back atmosphere. I ordered the Jamaican me Crazy light roast and a maple bacon donut. Omg is all I can say! Delicious coffee and the perfect complimentary donut. I see many visits in my future!

Donuts are impeccable! Staff is great and my order was ready right on time! Edit: Went back a second time and it was even better. People in my office always ask me to pick some up.

Amazing visit here. Great donuts. The donuts are huge and filling. Can't wait to go back and try different flavors. Highly suggest you give it a try. Check out the menu. They have some funky flavors that look so good. Coffee was good as well. My favorite part was the look of the place and the staff. The staff was so cheerful and friendly and just overall happy even though it was busy at 9am. I recommend you try it out. I cant wait to go back and try the fruity pebbles donut and the stores donut. I tried

Incredible variety of donuts. Very big and incredibly tasty. And what's really cool is they're not greasy. They're light and airy and don't weigh you down. Coffee selection was pretty good too and they have alcohol - what more can you ask for?!

Wow! What a pleasant surprise! We are reluctantly staying at the hotel across the street. No coffee in the morning at the hotel (really?) I looked across the street, and voila! Grounds Donut House, yay! An AMAZING selection of huge, freshly made donuts of lots of flavors! I got the huge Boston Creme donut, absolutely delish!!!! A latte to top it off. Perfection! HIGHLY recommend!!!

One of the best coffee houses around. The coffee is so smooth. It doesn't have that acidic aftertaste that most coffees have. And their donuts are amazing. They are large, yet not so heavy. Watch out for some of the special donuts, they can be heavy on the icing but worth it for the aesthetic.

Delicious, dense yeast donuts with a variety of fun flavors. We tried the crumb cake and orange creamsicle. Highly recommend!

This place rocks, and my Boston cream donut was incredible. Besides great donuts in the morning, I hear it is a hot spot bar at night. I can only attest to the donuts and the fabulous staff. Don't miss out, go soon and buy dozens, you won't regret it.

The only reason this wasn't a perfect experience is because I foolishly came here in the afternoon, when pickings were slim and the donuts weren't quite as fresh. And let me be clear - this place is a vibe for sure. I'm definitely returning at some point, though much earlier in the day. My mom and I stopped by here for dessert after a Mother's Day lunch nearby (we bypassed a pretty legit looking dessert menu at an Italian restaurant featuring mini cannolis; sometimes sacrifices must be made). Grounds had b

We got the fruity pebble, teddy graham, strawberry frosted, and PB&J flavors. All were consistently good, PB&J jam could be better, but we loved everything regardless!! Iced latte and warm house brew coffee was delicious!! Will definitely be coming back soon and would recommend!

The donuts here are pretty unreal. The coffee is as well. Great staff.

Love their iced latte flavors & donut varieties. So yummy!! I noticed now they make donut grilled cheeses. Will have to try that next time!

Over priced donut. Donuts tasted dry and old. The icing doesn?t taste good at all. Customer service was good.

Donuts are delicious and aesthetically cute. I had a banana bread coffee latte, delicious!

If you're looking for the best donuts in town, then this is the place for you. The donuts are giant to one is plenty for the average person. They have a wide assorment to choose from and have a different special all the time. They come out warm also. Dont go to DD when there is grounds donuts in town.

This place has such a cool atmosphere, staff is very friendly, coffee is amazing and the donuts are great. Great for a quick stop or to hang out for a bit. And I love that it?s family friendly, my son loved the donuts!

From the sign on the building into the front door, this place is clean, friendly, and professional. We tried 3 different coffees and 5 donuts. The donuts are soft, fluffy, not over powered with sugar and well worth the price at $3.50-$5.00 a donut. Coffee was good, we tried what the barista recommended and we were not disappointed. Never and I mean NEVER have I walked into a Coffee Shop that was so clean. Not a crumb on the tables or floor. Not a dirty foot print on the floor, not a finger print on the door

We tried 6 different flavors and were not disappointed. Delicious, light, fresh and not overly sweet. What a treat.

Ordered 2 dad bods sandwich wasn?t hot at all the person who made wasn?t wearing gloves. Donut crushed n crumbled before I can bite into it never will b back again thanx for ruining that for me

Definitely one of my new favorite/go tos. Donuts were fluffy and soft and the maple bacon was ?? friendly staff

Amazing donuts and coffee. I'm very particular with coffee and donuts, I mean why eat some generic junk.. lol. This place tops the charts seriously.

The only gourmet donut place around, they make visually beautiful and tasty works of art out of donuts and now have the advanced technology to stuff them with ice cream! Staffbis always super friendly. My only negative about the place is the heavy metal music playing at 7 am - folks tone it down please!

We?ve had these donuts once before and they were definitely tasty. The last time I came in I waited and waited but I guess there was only maybe one person working and they were not at the counter. I waited probably 10 minutes and then left. I?m sorry to write this part but while I was waiting I was just watching a fly walk all over a few donuts and it was gross so I made up my mind to leave just as someone was finally coming out.

Fat over-sized donuts are what you'll find here at Grounds. These fried dough balls are massive and the flavors range from traditional glazes n frosts to inventive like churro, oreo cookie etc. The donuts themselves are soft n fluffy w/a good fresh taste. The icings are a touch sweet n could use a punch up in flavor, like the chocolatr could be a lil more chocolatey or the strawberry a lil more berry ish if you catch my drift. Everything tastes good but i feel it could be even better. My only knock is that

Came at 11am so wasn?t expecting everything to be super fresh. The freshest donuts I?ve ever had that were all delicious. 10/10 recommend this place if passing by

$5.00 a donut is taking advantage of locals. I bought 2 donuts for $10 and they were dry as day old donuts. No flavor. Never again.

Visiting the area after being away for awhile. Looked in Google for coffee near me. Dunkin was across the street but Grounds was just down the road and I could sit inside. Had a glazed and large coffee. Both excellent. Lotsa seats. Great fresh donuts. Friendly people. They also have a bar but at 9am probably a little early.

This place is awesome! Not local to the area but came across it one day. Insanely good donuts (maple bacon!) and awesome flavored lattes. Plus the inside is a very cool atmosphere with great people. l I will be here every time I am in the area.

Unique and delicious doughnut selection. The atmosphere is really nice and the coffee was really good. I want a big fan of the breakfast sandwich, but it?s a small issue in the larger picture.

As a donut connoisseur, I was pleasantly surprised to hear about Grounds Coffee House. Conveniently located in the heart of Danbury, I was intrigued by the eclectic decor and beautiful donuts. The outside of the building leaves little to be desired. The parking lot is narrow and the shop can be easily missed. Once inside however, the shop is clean and spacious with great lighting, a few tables, and some awesome skull decor. The customer service is also lovely, but let?s talk donuts. From what I gather, in

Fun options. I'd love to see a cake or brownie style. Something different to se them apart from the usual fried dough. But still great options.

I got gift card for Christmas, so my daughter and I got doughnuts and they were delicious, and the design on the one my daughter got was adorable. It had a gummy rainbow on it. The donuts were So fresh. Definitely will go back for there doughnuts

Wow. It's a good thing this place is 20 minutes from my house or I'd have a hard time controlling my donut intake. Delicious -- the dough is phenomenal. The special donuts are elaborate and a lot of food, but we shared them. They had such creative flavors too. I could see getting a beautiful box of a dozen to bring to someone's house or an event and it would really make a nice presentation and no doubt be super popular with everyone. I didn't try the ice cream infused ones, which is definitely intriguing, b

I'm over 40. And have definitely eaten my share of donuts. This place has got to have the best donuts I've ever eaten in my life. The flavor of the frosting and the heartiness of the dough is perfect for a sweet tooth like mine. No cap. Greeted in and wished well on the way out by the staff makes you even more want to come back. Coupled with some chamomile tea, you can't go wrong. Nice addition to the location. Prices are on par for the quality, but a little much for the current predicament.

Each donut is the size of two regular donuts...at least. Many different flavors make it hard to choose which ones you want to try. Donuts were good, but I expected them to be a little fresher than they were that day. Some were much better than others, so I guess it depends on the flavor that you choose. There are no regular glazed; only gourmet flavors which were pretty awesome.

Amazing donut and coffee house. The base selections are enough to make you come back for more, but the weekly rotating donuts are the show stopper. I'm always excited to see what four new donuts will be available and to try the interesting combinations that Grounds is able to dream up of. The coffee and espresso have a very fresh and dark flavor. There are also multiple additions you can add or change up for your drink including oat milk or their sweet cinnamon toast flavoring. The staff is also very kind

Don?t come unless you are ready to turn your nose up at every other donut around! My husband brought me here and I will never again eat a donut from anywhere but here! The Dad Bod sandwich is also amazing!!

I had no idea what to expect. Thinking another donut and coffee place, I was extremely surprised. I walked in and there was a full bar, and seating to enjoy the moments. Beyond the bar was the reason I was there: giant-sized donuts. The donuts are twice the size of any donut! I arrived near closing time. At that time of day, pickings are slim. Donuts are pretty much sold out, according to my friends who are regulars. That is what I experienced. There were 2 specialty Everything donuts, and that was a

Fabulous donuts. I tried all four of the ones we brought home. Churro- yum Boston Creme - fantastic Coffee Cake - so flavorful Fruity Pebbles- the crunch was great mixed with the frosting. The donuts themselves are soft and light, they taste like what a donut should. I can?t wait to go back and try four more. Oh the donuts are huge. Coffee is great Decor is cool Staff so nice and friendly.

usually with food based places the drinks aren?t great but both my coffee and iced tea were heavenly, and the donuts omg definitely stop by

Unfortunately, $5 for a single signature donut and $4 for a regular donut isn?t sustainable for your wallet. My wife and I had ordered donuts when they originally opened up and prices were lower and the donuts were even bigger back then. They?ve since raised the prices and made them smaller. Wish them well but a coffee and a donut at $9+ is ridiculous.

Great donuts! Exactly what I was looking for. Big but still a good frosting to dough ratio. I got chocolate frosted, strawberry frosted, birthday cake, and apple crisp. The only one that didn?t wow me was the birthday cake. It was good just didn?t taste like anything more than a vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles. Still delicious! Can?t wait to go back next time I?m in the area

Grounds Donut House has a really cool vibe and it?s own unique style; it?s very WeWork but in dark mode, if you know what I mean. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It makes getting a coffee and a donut almost feel like a special experience. It?s definitely worth giving this place a shot - at least once - to see for yourselves what they?re all about. Read on if you want my in-depth opinion. I had a Boston Cream donut and a large signature-roast coffee with milk. I enjoyed both but they we

Best specialty donuts. Wish they would bring back the Spicy Hot Chocolate though!

I feel terrible writing a negative review because I want to support our local businesses. After reading the article the News Times published about this new business and my love for donuts and coffee it inspired me to visit Grounds Donut House. I purchased a small cup of coffee and a two donuts (Boston?s cream & Jelly). Music was too loud to the point I had to yell my order. Coffee was terrible. Tasted very watered down. Donuts tasted a day old and pretty sure they were because they weren?t light and fluffy

Very clean inside and very nice atmosphere for a doughnut shop. The staff was very nice, personable and helpful with all our questions. And the doughnuts are just too amazing to describe.....I'll be there again soon I won't be running on dunkin anymore.

Just stopped in for the first time and it was just a wonderful experience. I ordered online which was quick and easy - everything was ready when I got there (2 lattes and a bunch of donuts). The lovely young lady behind the counter even helped me to my car being that there was so much to carry in the snowy rain. So sweet! Oh, and the donut was to die for! 2020 sucks, but Grounds Donuts do not!

I had the pleasure of getting a preview of Grounds just before they opened, and loved it! Both donuts were soft and delicious, and the toppings are creative and interesting but not too out of control. The cold brew was also smooth and interesting. The space is very cool! This will definitely be a common stop for me in the mornings.

Pretty good donuts but honestly too sweet for me. I?ve never been able to finish an entire donut because of how sugary it gets. The atmosphere is nice and the coffee is good too. Kind of pricey so I can?t imagine going here a lot as a college student, despite the campus being 30 seconds away from the store.

Funky donuts, good coffee and great staff. I went super early and they were pleasant to speak with. I really enjoyed setting and the consistency of the donuts. I also really liked how unique they were but that they offered traditional donuts too.

Best donuts around and the coffee is impeccable. The staff wears mask but I can feel the smiles behind them. They were so helpful and explained all of the specialty drinks to me. The Cinnamon Toast latte is probably the best thing ever to come out of the coffee business.

Was visiting my son who lives in one of the WCSU dorms down the street and he told me we should check this new place out. Unlike most who go in the morning, we came today (a Sunday) at 2:30pm a half hour before they close. Even with a lot of their made donuts gone for the day the place still had a line waiting to get some! I had their Boston Creme donut and it was very large and filled with creme! The home brewed coffee was very good too. Service was very friendly and the general atmosphere was very

Best donuts I?ve ever tried they?re so soft!

The donuts here are so big and honestly the best ones I?ve ever had! The s?mores donut is iconic and it?s absolutely my favorite! There are plenty of awesome and unique flavors, including their Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee! I?m so happy I was able to go, and the donuts and everything are definitely worth the money!

Ok, first off, the donuts are good. But are they worth the price? No. No they?re not. To be bluntly honest, you?re better off driving to Glazed Over in Beacon, NY, and get them super fresh, like out of the oil still hot fresh. For a dozen donuts and two lattes it was 62 bucks. I could have gotten the same for half the price at Glazed or even less at Dunkin. The staff was VERY nice and they seemed genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about what they were selling but I just can?t justify a price that high

My first order was for 6 donuts, one had a hair in the frosting, I called and they told me to come back the next day and replaced it with two donuts. Last week my sister also had a hair in her donut. Now today at 12 I tried to place an order online and it wouldn?t allow me to. I called and asked if I was able to place an order via phone since the online ordering was not working. I was told they will put the donuts aside for me since they shut off the online ordering. Two of the three donuts I wanted was onl

All I have to say is BEST DONUTS EVER!! This new local donut shop opened up in Danbury and there is nothing else like it around. They?re unique in their own way with their large variety of flavors, including the amazing lattes and coffee. I have to say the fruity pebbles is definitely one of my all time favorite donuts so far. Each week they have different rotating flavors to look forward too! Highly recommend stopping in, also the music they have playing is soooo good and fun to jam to while waiting for th

My son and I travel the country in our pursuit of good donuts - from Portland to Portland...Chicago to Dallas.... Went to Grounds promptly @ 6am on a Sunday...atmosphere was cool, service was good...donuts...well, vastly overpriced and that took away from a good (by all means not great) donut....it's a $2.50 donut with a $4 price tag - that's the best way to sum it up....

I have been coming here 1-2 times a week since they opened and have had nothing but a great experience every time!! They have rotating donut flavors every week- some of which are crazy creative. From a cannoli donut, to dunkaroos, to fruity pebbles, to your classic glazed. The coffee is very rich and they have rotating, seasonal, coffee flavors. Many of which match the donut flavors! (best cold brew around) Awesome atmosphere inside- they always have great music, the entire staff is super friendly and accom

Went back once again giving them one last chance. Had the pop tart blueberry. Bottom line is that they are a ripoff!!!! Nothing like when the 1st opened in Danbury. The owner blamed the fire and said they would get back to the original size. The $5 donut is not oversized nor are they using the same doughnut ingredients any longer. Pretty sad that a business completely changes from what they stood for when they first opened. Nothing special anymore, just a way overpriced doughnut house!!!!!! Well I finally

If you need an amazing donut and latte stop in. Calories don?t count before noon here!

Place is very nice. People are very nice. But totally feel that I wasted too much money for donuts and coffee. Dunkaroo donut sounded good until taking a bite. Tasted like butter and sprinkles. Churro donut had slight flavor. Strawberry frosted was not good either. Might as well stick to your regular Dunkin donuts - at least you can taste those. Definitely buy one donut before you bother wasting your money on half a dozen or a dozen. Really no flavor at all. Don?t think I will bother trying again.
