Gourdough's Big Fat Donuts & Coffee

I came here with my family after visiting the restaurant several years ago. We really enjoyed their food truck set up - there?s fun spots to take pictures, we found there to be plenty of seating, although bear in mind we did go on a weekday. The food was as good as we remembered too! My mom tried to donut burger and enjoyed every bite. My husband had the Fat Elvis, with a fried egg on the side, he loved it. I had the mother clucker and I loved my food as well, I still think about it almost two weeks later!

This is quite possibly the best donut I?ve ever had. I went for the first time this past week and wow! A fun little spot with plenty of seating and some shade as well. Lots of food options and the donuts big and made right there on the spot! My only gripe was the service. I stood at the window for almost 5 minutes before anybody even acknowledged I was there. The workers saw me, but never engaged. Maybe ordering ahead is recommended?

For some reason, I thought these would be yeast-based donuts, but instead they are very much cake based and thick as ever. Good donuts...the toppings are what distinguish these donuts, otherwise, the dough itself is nothing special and very thick and cake-ey. It's rare that I give such a low review but we were reallyyyyy underwhelmed with this. I don't think the staff member wanted to be there at all. The donuts were okay but definitely not like the descriptions. You can get parking there to pay for $11 an hour. The paper stuck to the donuts making them hard to cut and eat. Just not a great experience sadly.

We were planning on taking our donuts to go, but the vibe here was so cute that we decided to stay. It was super picturesque, and oh my gosh we couldn?t shut up about the donuts. We would?ve loved to visit back when they had a restaurant, but the quality was as scrumptious as ever. Honestly not all that expensive considering the quality and location. I can not get enough of this place. Every time I have someone visit me, I capstone their trip with a stop at Gourdough's. The doughnuts are made to order, hot and fresh. We would recommend, however, perhaps splitting a donut with someone else for the first time since they are very large and very sweet. The food here is just as good as I had hoped, and I had been eyeing it from Florida for months before we visited. It did not disappoint. We got the Funky Monkey (so, so good) and the Ron Burgendy. The parking situation is a little rough - it will cost $11+ for an hour of parking there, so be prepared to add that to the cost of the food.

OK, truly, the food is a five, but I just got my DoorDash order, and they did not read my note or the order correctly. Probably they were in a hurry to go home. They left off a topping that I paid extra for. With that said, it was my first time ordering there, and whatever this is - was amazing anyway. I would go back. Just the employees need to slow down and read the DoorDash orders carefully. I only gave four stars due to the mistake, but this is some really awesome stuff.

Major disappointment. This used to be our favorite donut spot in town, but it has gone downhill. So we came to Austin with a couple who is new to Houston and we tried out this place out and now this will become a staple every time we drive up to Austin. Everyone enjoyed their donuts and the magical part is how the donut is so crispy on the outside but still soft and doughy on the inside. A must try in Austin! These donuts are easily sharable as they are large and heavy. We ordered the Son of a Peach and the Fat Elvis to split among 3 people and we couldn't finish them. My favorite donut place to stop at when passing through Austin! My go-to is the Skinny Hippy (strawberries, cream cheese, and granola). Donuts are fresh, soft, and pretty heavy. One of the most popular food highlights of Austin is Gordough's donuts. The location on 1st Street has a great ambience and is one of the main locations. There is an amazing variety of warm, delicious donuts that never disappoint. One donut is plenty for one person but it is a great location to split and share multiple donuts. If you do choose to buy multiple donuts I'd highly recommend mixing and matching the overall flavors (chocolate vs peanut butter vs vanilla pudding) as it is easy for certain flavors

Definitely an Austin treasure! Seen this on TikTok had to check it out! Had the blue balls (doughnut holes), The puddin, the Mother Clucker, and the Dirty berry. There were three of us that went and we had a smorgasbord! Will return! Definite place to go in downtown Austin!

Love love love! So many options to choose from and so fresh. We ended up getting the Miss Shortcake - the strawberries were fresh and, the cream cheese icing was out of this world. It wasn?t too sweet and very creamy. The donut itself was perfection- the right amount of crunch around the edges and doughy/soft inside. Every bite just melted in your mouth...absolutely delicious. Also got the Nutty Valentine which was delicious. Great combination with the Nutella. I?m dreaming of their donuts!

Words do not describe the feeling you get when eating any one of these Donuts. OMG! It's like an out of body experiance! I think I went into Donut PTSD, in a good way. Fresh made and topped hot Donuts ?? OMG! Can we franchise this place to Connecticut?
