A bit of a language problem, but when the food is that authentic what do expect. Great service, wonder people. They cared.
This is probably the best restaurant in this neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and the food was great. It is located in a dount shop, it seems like a strange combination, but seems to work. I had the shrimp and chicken hibachi, and it was very good. We also had the Crab Rangoon, which was good. Our lunches came with soup as well.
Immediately a personal favorite of mine. Appreciate the menu selection, coffee was good, donut was great (even late in the day), the food was perfect. The seating is comfortable and inviting and the staff was extremely pleasant and hospitable.
Good old fashioned diner serving some deliciousness for either breakfast or lunch. I had the double cheeseburger with bacon, cheeseburger, fries, cinnamon rolls, their breakfast sandwich (BEC), coffee, and their chili. I have not been disappointed. You may order the meat your style. For me, preferably medium well. The burger is massive and it?s taste deliciously impactful. If you dine in, you will listen to some nice tunes from specific eras and genres. You may dine in and or order take out. Prices are dece
The chicken hibachi was delicious. The owners are such nice people. We heard about how good this place was, and had to try it for ourselves. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
This place is amazing definitely going back i.use to go here probably 30 years ago with my dad and sister when it was the old jolly pirate donut shop still kinda looks the same I heard they changed the name and now selling hibachi and other stuff I tried hibachi omg AMAZING definitely will be going back and trying other stuff too the service was great very nice staff the food absolutely delicious ?? thanks so much for amazing everything
I really liked the atmosphere here, but I think they need to do something to make the surroundings pop. Everything is so old and faded. Shame. I got the patty melt. You know that mystery meat they served you in school? That's what you get here. I could not stomach it so I got tomato grilled cheese instead and sent back the burger. I don't know how but they messed that up too. See the photos. And, finally, the waitress was really sweet and kind but I just could not understand her. I don't think she speak
Old style diner with great hibachi. My wife had the steak and chicken, noodles and vegetables, I had the steak and shrimp. Both were good and the portions were also. Probably not a place I would have just stopped in if I drove by but we were both pleasantly surprised. We will be back
I came back after sometime. Their hibachi is always awesome. Some places loose the quality, but not them. My food was great I got satisfied and have something for late. A coffe and a donut for desert complete the afternoon
Came to pick up an Uber order at 7:15 am, and I saw the older woman run to lock the door. I saw the sign and they weren't open, so I just stood outside waiting until 7:30 am since there was only a couple minutes until they would open the door again. The lady who locked the door came out and told me that they were closed right now. I just informed her I was waiting until they opened (in only 15 minutes may I add) to pick up the order. Then, not even a second, she got another lady to come out, who then told
Amazing food with generous portions. Absolutely wonderful customer service. We will definitely be coming back.
I decided to have breakfast here because it used to be cheap and delicious (I hadn?t eaten there since 2000.) The prices are now similar to Bob Evans or Waffle House. I ordered; 1 egg, bacon, home fries, toast and a chocolate covered donut. The egg, bacon and toast were cooked to perfection, but I don?t know what the hell those potatoes were?definitely not home fries. They had no seasoning and were not fully cooked. I was able to eat 1/4 of them. I enjoyed the diner vibe and it was nice to see all the ol
Love the old-school diner vibe. Very affordable place. Originally when I came in I didn?t know what I wanted so I just started off with a donut and coffee. The coffee is your standard black coffee with cream and sugar. It was fine I had got a glazed doughnut and I really couldn?t taste anything other than bread. I decided that I wanted a little more to eat so I got the steak and egg breakfast comes with home fries and toast The steak was good. I got a medium well was a little tougher than I wanted it to be
Every time we come this lady misses up our order. Then today she not only missed it up. But we got there n then a group of men showed up. N she ended up giving 2 of the plates we orded to the men. When we question and even the guys was lost cause they knew it wasn't theirs. We question about it. N she started scream we don't know we talking about. They didn't order steak. When clearly u not only see the steak on their plate. But the guys even shake they head saying yes their is. Well they brought t
Fantastic hibachi lunch and donut for dessert. Steak hibachi was great as was hibachi soup. A nice, soft cinnamon swirl donut finished the meal. Definitely worth the trip.
This review would have had 19 donuts for me to show off, but because they are so delicious they sold out of most of their inventory before I was able to get there. ?? Honestly, it?s probably good that I was only able to score one apple fritter because it would have been a pretty overwhelming temptation to justify practicing for my next eating competition. All I can comment on is the donuts because I?ve never had any other menu item, but I?m sure everything is delicious... As for the donuts, they are some
Twice this week. Had 2eggs,4sausage patties, grits and toast $17.95. Compare $17.95 to Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel and you feel like you?ve just got robbed. I simply just can?t afford this.
Records on the wall, smiles on faces, apple fritter in belly: this is a pleasant place. The music is funky and fun and sets an atmosphere that makes one feel groovy. The food all looks simple and well prepared. The prices are right too. This is the epitome of an old time diner and I would recommend it for anyone looking for one. My only complaint is that for travelers it is out of the way and the neighborhood is not the best, though it doesn't feel unsafe.
Delicious as usual. Great service, good atmosphere. It's like Cheers...neighborhood place where everyone knows your name, even when they don't, it feels like they do. Nice place for a quick brunch/lunch meeting with my daughter and business partner.
Great food at perfect prices and amazing staff!! New to this place but I see now why they have very faithful regulars (whom the staff know by name!) Definitely a gem and my only regret is that it took me so long to check them out after arriving in the area. Thanks Pete and crew! (My pics don't do it justice- didn't want to photo the staff or the patrons seated at the counter on the other side of the diner)
Food was delicious and service was good, sadly they were all tapped out of donuts but will be back for them soon.
Everything was amazing. The coffee was great. The food was amazing. The tunes were out of this world. The Golden Buster, consisting of potatoes, cheese, ham, gravy and eggs was to die for. The donuts are made in the back and are awesome too. I can't wait to come back.
THE HIBACHI DISH IS GREAT. COOKED ON THE EXACT POINT, EXCELENT FLAVOR AND A REALLY NICE SERVICE. AND... YOU HAVE TO CHECK THEIR RECORD COLLECTION ON THE WALLS. IT'S AMAZING!!
I ordered the chicken hibachi, and I was rather impressed. The service was good. Very friendly. The atmosphere is not the greatest, but once you're there it's not bad. I definitely will eat there again soon.
The Food is great but I didn?t vibe well with this establishment. Servers are nice. I just didn?t vibe well in that community. I got the Gold Buster. Overall it?s a good food experience but I just didn?t feel comfortable in the location.
Great first experience! Very friendly owner/manager and delicious donuts at an amazing price. Looking forward to going back for a full breakfast.
Authentic and delicious donuts! Delicious flavors, fillings, and icings. If you like a lot of filling or icing this is the place for you, they don't hold back! I loved it and can't wait to go back and try their breakfast too.
Your generic mom n pop diner. Owned by some great Asian immigrants - very nice people, good chef. Breakfast and lunch are pretty normal and what you would expect, the hibachi dinners are well above average diner food. Also has fresh donuts delivered in the AM
I had never ordered from here before. I ordered a blt and a bowl of chili with cheese and onions. The blt was ok (delivery probably just made it less fresh. It was fine). But the chili was AMAZING. I woke up thinking about that chili. I need to find a recipe close to it, because I would go broke trying to eat it every day.
Never cook your food, right they should?ve never sold the restaurant horrible I wish I could insert a picture of this raw egg they put on the sandwich
I grew up with my grandmother coming to this establishment all the time. The fact that business around this place have come and gone and they are still there is legendary. The service is outstanding. The menu is sublime. Especially the apple fritter french toast. It's cozy for a couple. Great for kids. Has everything even Asian food. I will always keep coming back.
I think this place might be having an identity crisis. The sign out front says Golden Donuts and Diner but there's a sign that appears to be very new on the building that says Hibachi bento. When you walk in at 10am on a Saturday it definitely smells like hibachi restaurant. I was greeted and I said I was here to get some donuts, but give me a second. The lady behind the counter asked if I wanted a dozen donuts but I was confused because I didn't even see a dozen donuts in the whole place. I left a little d
Biscuits & gravy are exceptional. Old school diners are harder and harder to find.
Truly a unique place. From the album covers on the walls to the 70's diner feel to the music playing in the background to the mom and pop feel. Our orders were delicious, not one complaint among us. Definitely try the bacon burger and an apple fritter for dessert.
Cool place humble people making great food
This place has always been in my area and I never really paid much attention to it until one of these days I decided to give it a try with my little sister?BEST DECISION EVER. The food is so flavorful, the aesthetic is nostalgic, and the staff just makes the experience even better. My main reason of going was because I saw they had donuts, and I looove donuts, I was not disappointed at all. Quite literally some of the best donuts I?ve ever tried. I?m starting to go here regularly for my breakfast before hea
This place is awesome! Solid diner breakfast and the donuts are great. Owner was super friendly and helpful. Also a fantastic 70s atmosphere in the best way possible. Loved the vinyl and authentic decor. Took me back to places I grew up going to. Not many places like this are still around.
This place is fantastic. It has super friendly staff, solid food, and really affordable prices. If you're a fan of old school, no-fuss diners, this is a great spot. It's housed in an old jolly pirate location, and has a nice nostalgic feel to it. I highly recommend stopping by if you're looking for a breakfast spot.
This was our first time eating here, but certainly won't be our last. Golden Donuts & Diner is a gem and one of the few old time diners left. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced, and the service was top-notch. Be sure to ask Peter for the Golden Diner joke of the day. His family opened this place in the early 1970s and has handed it down for generations. Great place, great food, and great people...you won't be disappointed!
Absolutely amazing!!! Great food, great music, great feel! I love intimate small places "where everybody knows your name" this is it. It is so welcoming and warm, there's a nostalgic feel, a feeling of belonging and home. I recommend trying it out you will not be disappointed!!
Not enough glaze donuts. Rated #1 in Columbus. But they don?t get it. They don?t make enough. Missing a huge opportunity. Sort of dirty too. Sad
Donuts small time diner and hibachi all in one place I was nervous trying it but so worth it. Absolutely delicious and the server was so nice. And their coffee is actually delicious too.
Amazing service by great people with delicious filling food at a great price definitely worth visiting if you've never been.
The server was great. The steak was not good. I told my husband that it was so tiring just trying to chew it?? Atmosphere was comfortable but the music was a little loud.
Food is ok. Power went out today while my food was being made, didn't get to eat it and still had to pay for my son's ??. Should have been free
This place is my 4 yo son and my new hidden gem for our Saturday breaky dates. He gets his donut fix and I get omlet fix. They also have Hibachi
It?s been awhile since I ate breakfast there for the first time, but it was a pretty cool little place. The people were really nice & both the food & prices were also pretty good. Also, be sure to try one or two of their popular Apple Fritters. They?re that good!??
Love, and I must say Love the Customer Service! I have been back already within a couple of days of visiting for the 1st time. The Greeting alone always deserves a High Five! Prices are Wonderful and worth coming back for. Thank You Guys ??????
Phoned in order. Stated 15 minute pick up time. Turned out to be 1/2 hour pick up time. The staff was courteous. The atmosphere was great. The food was generous and outstanding. First visit here, won't be my last.
Good food. Large portions.
This place use to be a nice spot! Now its so bad that the cook said they stopped making pancakes cause customers said they didn't like the way they taste! Well your fried potatoes are nasty too but you continue to make that trash! Smh and then they finally got new menus that offer pancakes but the cook said they don't have the ingredients for pancakes huh how is that possible this is a donut shop wow!
The greatest freshest coffee I'm the city... Very down to earth atmosphere one of the last great mom and pop restaurants left! And the food is great! Great employees and the owner loves his customers! Eat here!
I had a 6 oz sirloin steak ,eggs, potatoes, and wheat bread for lunch, for 11 dollars, and it was deliciousness ??
Went there to try because I love a good donut diner and loved it. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Food is priced very well and you will walk out stuffed. Donuts are light and fluffy and I will definitely be making the trip out again. This place is a true diner and I will recommend to my friends.
My husband and I moved to the area a couple of months ago and we try to go here at least once a week. Love the staff and food. We?ve been here for breakfast and lunch and haven?t ordered anything bad and the doughnuts are great too! Also very affordable!
This is the absolute best breakfast spot. Down the street from home in the neighborhood. Friendly welcoming owner and the waitress is the Best. Best donuts in town. Eat and spend local. Right on Lockbourne. Open 630am to 2pm
My friends and I were teleport at to this land of Ohio. We wandered the streets until we saw the Golden Donuts and Diner. By the time we sat down Katrice had already gleaned our drink order. We sat and within seconds the order was placed and the army of staff militantly in step delivered our drinks. Within a reasonable amount of time our banquet had begun. It was full of flavor and hit the spot. We will now take a nap before starting our day but thank you Katrice.
I sat to write a review on the best donut shop in all of Columbus only to discover there are already nearly 200 reviews written! So, yes, I concur. Golden Donut is everything good. Delicious food, warm & comfortable environment, friendly & helpful staff, familiar 70's & 80's music, and the list goes on and on. Pete, the owner, is a local superstar (even celebrities that visit Columbus come here) but somehow, whenever you're in Pete's company he makes YOU feel like you're the superstar! Pete and his crew are
Excellent food and atmosphere. Very friendly staff and owners.
I'm always getting the #3 lol but they have more to offer I plan on changing my order but that omelet be so good the staff are good people and the vibe from the music and people and staff is just so comfortable that you'll forget how long you've been in there.
truely diappointed. My family and several friends get donuts at this location. Came in just for a few donuts then leave. Had two people look at us once finally being acknowledged the person was told to go to some one else and no help came from the other. Atmosphere decent' not as clean anymore like shown.
Some of the best hibachi food I've ever had. The place was spotless and the people were so kind that worked there.
Omelets are very good. The donuts are a added plus to any meal you get here. The service from the lady working has always been good. Prices are fair an quality of food is very good.
The prices are very reasonable and the breakfast was pretty good. I really like the sausage biscuit gravy, very delicious. Good music and atmosphere. My husband and I will be going again next Saturday.
Peter, the owner was so nice. He greeted us and shook our hands with such kindness. You won't get better service anywhere else. NOT TO MENTION THE DONUTS WERE AMAZING. Ask for the grilled blueberry cake!
Out of the way unless you know where you're going. Use your GPS if necessary but just try it....you'll agree it's a terrific hidden jewel. No advertising. PETE DOESN'T NEED TO ADVERTISE!! One visit and you'll be convinced that the drive to the South End, Lockbourne Road, is very much worth the effort. I have no clue about the preparation of Pete's biscuits and gravy; I just attest to the fact that it is more than likely the absolute best biscuits and gravy in town. CASH ONLY! That's my bi
Nostalgia doesn't do justice describing the atmosphere and people. The food is delicious and the sweets are timeless. A staple in the community for decades and God willing decades to come.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced! The staff was very nice and had good music taste :) Make sure to try their apple fritters and donuts!
Old time Dinning experience. Nice atmosphere for good food eating. Donuts are a dessert addition to the already good breakfast ??. Just delicious. Really happy with our first time experience with them. Friendly staff ??
Best restaurant I've been to in a while. Tasty, delicious, all for a great price. Can't beat the donuts. I absolutely love the Cajun Grill. Will be back for sure. :-)
My wings were overcooked and my Philly cheese steak was not a Philly cheese steak. It was a hamburger patty (dry) with Swiss cheese and peppers and onion. The owner would not have been happy with the presentation of food from this establishment. I know I wouldn't.
Friendly and attentive staff, great food at very affordable prices in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and the music is great too! If this place has one drawback, it's that it isn't open 24/7. The owner/chef is very good humored and will probably personally check to see if your food is satisfactory, which it will be.
Never thought about apple fritter french toast, but it was amazing. Met the owner and her son and they were more than pleasant. Great dining experience.
The atmosphere is welcoming, and the owner came out and introduced himself. The food was very reasonably priced, and my ruben sandwich was very YUMMY! The donuts were fresh and soft! I will be back!
Amazing place I loved the service that I received, the food smelled wonderful however I ordered doughnuts ?? ?? yummy! Only one issue have to get here early or all the good ones are gone ?? ??????
me and my husband went for my birthday today and it was amazing the food is great and the people are all amazing. It really is a great place to eat and see. 100% recomend.
Good food....have to season things yourself but that's kind of expected. Chicken, French toast and sausage is good. Service was a little on the downside but still a good place to come for a quick stop.
The employees were very nice and extremely positive, amazingly great at waitering, didn't have to wait long at all for all our food.
If you are looking for really good donuts this is the place! Their special is the apple fritter. Friendly staff, it seems like they know everyone who comes in. I got a couple dozen donuts in and out quickly!!
They've been around a long time and know a lot of the people that come in. U see a lot of retired men there just chillin and talkin. U can play lottery and feel relaxed when eating. U gotta check out the old school music and the donuts made fresh everyday!! Especially the apple fritters. ( I miss the lemon)
The people are nice and the food is decent dinner fare. It's not First Watch, but breakfast is also half the price. Lots of doughnuts to choose from though.
Perfect greasy spoon and great donuts
Very good breakfast at an amazing price. The bacon is good and crispy and the donuts very tasty. The folks running the place are nice and the atmosphere is hard to beat!
Great environment and it wasn't hard to find out who the locals that eat here daily are and the locals and staff were very nice and sparked up conversation with me, a complete stranger. Loved the experience!
If I could give it a zero I would! No one needs attitude when being served, nor do I need the off colored so called jokes and commentary! And if you enjoy good health! Stop eating there, grease served with cockroaches on the side! Please!
It was very nice for a genuine Rock & Roll, Hall of Fame brunch. Not too busy and the people seemed to be practicing their social distancing very well!
The hibachi was delicious!
Love this place to get my breakfast sandwich about two or three times per week bacon, egg and cheese on Texas toast.
