I came to Goldmine to have breakfast with a friend. Upon leaving, I realized that I left my hat at the restaurant. I immediately returned and spoke with the waitress who served us. She pretended to search for my missing hat. She informed me that another group may have taken the hat. Which is impossible because I was only gone for 20 minutes and there is no way that another guest could have eaten their meal so fast. She even informed me to call at 6am and speak to the manager. I was raised in this area and when. I saw the diner I wanted to go in. I instantly began to reminisce when I would get off the 1 train late at night and go eat here. It has me family run and operated business. There have been some updates, but there is still a diner feel.

This was my first time walking into this caf?. It has been on my radar for sometime too. After a food shopping trip, I walk in with my loaded shopping cart into a pretty empty caf?. It looks cute and simple at a glance. There were no other customers, just two waitresses and the cook in the back. This diner makes a good tasting eggplant hero for a very reasonable price. Their spanakopita is a bit mushier than I prefer and more peppery than usual. Their Greek salad is standard but nothing memorable. I love going into the restaurant though to see the wall paintings of the Dodecanese island of Kasos and Athens! I recognized the places in Kasos and named them. The staff were impressed. I visited Kasos and must tell you the beaches, open space and air quality there was great. I might move there one day.

This place did something so absurd and disgusting to my bagel I swore I would never ever order from here again. I asked for a bagel with vegetable cream cheese. Please tell me why my bagel arrived with hardly and cream cheese and FROZEN VEGETABLES on it. YES. Peas, carrots and string beans!!! Never in my life have ever been served something so disgustingly lazy and absolutely disrespectfully wrong. Since then I have never and will never order from here again.

UPDATE (2nd Visit: ??) Note: This is my second & final experience with Gold Mine cafe. The first time I went, they had just received a late night delivery of fresh cinnamon rolls. Delish! I think I rated them 4 stars based solely on that cinnamon roll & black coffee to go. But this second time around, I ?dined in? and ordered a little more. There is clearly a preference if you're a particular ethnic group, I was seated and waited, and waited, while a Hispanic family was seated after me and was attended to, by the hispanic waiters and order taken before anyone ever even asked if I wanted a drink. Will not patronize again.

The place has good food and service. It is also placed in a good area. At first the waitress didn't understand my brother (who speaks clear english) when he asked her how her day was. They also forgot to provide us silverware. Everything was forgiven when the food came, which wasn't a long wait. An odd little place, worth going to if you?re in the mood for local color. When they put up Christmas lights, it?s right out of a David Lynch movie. Stick to the basics ? breakfast menu, grilled cheese, etc. They?re very good at breakfast. The 3 cheese omelet is killer.

The establishment used to be a pleasant place to visit. However, when the manager is absent, the staff appears to be disoriented and lacks knowledge about the menu. Just go to the Dale Diner next door. The prices here are good and the food is average; however, they have the worst service in the neighbourhood. I've been here twice; the first time it took 15 minutes before a waitress seated me and then she didn't check in on me or offer me a refill once the entire meal. My favorite breakfast stop... a real diner!

Wanted to give a big thank you to the staff at Gold Mine Cafe for their kindness. The other day an elderly woman had fallen on the sidewalk and myself and two others stayed with her until the ambulance came. The Gold Mine Cafe staff let us sit inside, brought her water, and were kind to be so hospitable. I will be back next time I am in the area to have a meal and the fresh squeezed orange juice that seems to be made inside the Cafe! Thank you and wishing your business well.

Found a fly on my food while I was eating, felt very disgusted and disappointed

I went to this diner today to order a simple sausage,egg and cheese on a roll. What I got was a toasted roll very little egg and cheese. 2 thinly sliced sausage links and tons of salt and pepper on the sandwich. I couldn't eat the sandwich it was so salty. I ended up throwing it out. Unfortunately, I had already left the area when I decided to eat.

Decided to randomly stop here after arriving to an appointment too early. The service was fantastic but I ate the worst bacon egg and cheese I have ever had in my life here. The bread and cheese were somehow cold and they only put two little things of bacon so I basically had an egg and cheese sandwich. Everything else was alright. Still, won?t be coming back.

Food is basic diner food. They are a local place with local people who can make or break your experience. The lady across from us smelled so much we had to leave . They also practice some not so subtle theft. Like they round your check up to the nearest nickel . They also charge you .50 cents for using any credit card as a payment. I went to go eat with my child. Never again I will eat there. My eggs were cold my home fries were burnt and flat like pancakes. Clearly whichever one of the men takes orders on the phone has serious hearing problems. Missing a third of my order and now they expect us to buy what they did not hear. Absolutely ridiculous. Love this place. Great food, great prices and great atmosphere. A rare gem that has pretty much remained just about the same since the early 90s even with demographic change and gentrification in surrounding areas. Highly recommend anything from there but my favorite is the breakfast menu.

When I was working in the West Farms area of the Bronx I would go there in the morning before I got on the BX9 to get a large coffee. Obviously, the coffee was good, & put together exactly how I asked. The employee's there were respectful as well.

My family and I love this place, I get my coffee hot or cold every morning from Gold Mine it beats Starbucks and Dunkin? Donuts prices and mainly the flavor. The breakfast is also delicious as well as the lunch and dinner options. Most importantly its family owned after a few years of frequently eating here they treat us like family too they greet my kids with warm hugs,kisses and smiles every time we walk in. Over all a great place to share memories with my family and friends.

First the lady with glasses was nasty with me. Told me the reason I can't hear her is that I had earphones on. No, I am deaf and that's why I didn't hear her. I read lips. Then I ask for a diet coke with my meal. She didn't bring it at all. I'll never go back there again.

Let me tell you!!! literally every diner has gotten my order wrong. This diner is the only one that listen. The cook is awesome, manager awesome and omg the front counter ladies they make my morning always a warm smile with great fast service.

The night manager allows the cook to grab the food that he is about to cook with his bare hands with no gloves. I asked him why he is not wearing gloves and the night manager ask me why I was ignorant for asking him about the cook not wearing gloves while he cooks. Next time I will take pictures. this only happens at night so far. This is the second time I walked in and saw the same cook doing the same thing. I will speak with the owner tomorrow on this matter.

Somewhat new blonde haired "waitress" is intensly rude and condescending to be nice. Gold Mine has a great reputation for their food and faire. However this person, who used to be employed up the block at Louie's, sadly employs the same melancholicly rude behavior in this honest establishment. She is a sure deterrent to customers simply seeking the classic diner experience...simply put, she's not a good fit for the place.

I went to this gold mine Cafe I always go but today I was treated wrong by the manager and waitress they talking about how I was dress and I was going to work cause I do cleaning services I felt so sad I couldn't imagine how they would treat a person that's homeless I won't be going there anymore the food is ok but there are wrong for doing that

A staple of the area for about a decade, the Gold Mine Cafe is a family operated diner that provides a varied menu with some typical diner fare along with some specialty dishes. The staff get to know their customers.

Not perfect but yes good enough. Some ordered items forgotten and some details like hamburger not cooked as requested perhaps slightly slow service and coffee not great, otherwise fine and friendly.
