Cold food and Bad attitudes. On Sunday April 27th at 9:45 a.m., my mother and I came to the Federal Donuts located on 540 South street in Queens Village, Philadelphia. I?ve gone to different Federal Donut locations throughout the city and have always had pleasant experiences. However, the experience I had at this location was absolutely deplorable. I didn?t obtain the names of the two individuals that almost begrudgingly helped us, but they were distinctly unpleasant. The young lady with hair twists was dis

Giving a shoutout to Jaime for helping me this afternoon! I made an online order the day before and was accidentally given and paid for the wrong one near closing time and couldn?t get things resolved until today. Jaime was very helpful both in giving me my original order and going through the steps for me to acquire a refund for the mistake. Expressing my big thanks for her service, professionalism, and willingness to take time to help me resolve this problem as quickly as she did. She?s a great worker. I

Best!!!!! Doughnuts I?ve ever had in the United States. I was pleasantly surprised. I bought the 1st one to try it out (Carrot) and I had to buy 4 more. All the flavors were good but the carrot was my favorite. I love when I get good customer service it makes the whole experience 10x better. The customer here was great! They do have a seating area for you to sit and grab a quick bite or get some work done.

The service is great, and the fried chicken is big and crispy. However, it's a bit too salty. The freshly fried donuts can be a bit oily and have a dense cake-like texture instead of the usual fluffy donut feel, but they're still delicious.

Soft fresh donut, egg sandwich is big and yummy. Very clean inside

Cool concept, cool, marketing in a nice facility but the donuts are yuck. I asked a local who they thought had the best donut and they said Federal donuts. The thing about these donuts is there not really donuts? They?re more cake donuts. Well, in fact, they are extremely cakey. You don?t get anything that?s filled. I had their version of the traditional donut and the dirt doughnut. The traditional one was OK. The dirt one was yuck very dry. They taste like those donuts that you get in a six pack at a conve

Pretty good. Donuts and fried chicken. Everyone at the store was nice. Vietnamese iced coffee, not too sweet but really creamy and balanced.

We were walking back to our car after a failed lunch attempt elsewhere when we stumbled upon this location and decided to go in. 100% recommend that you go too. The food we ordered was made fresh. The menu is on the small side but everything we had was delicious! Pictures include chicken tenders & fries combo that came with an un-pictured bottle of water and a donut; a half dozen donuts- 4 glazed, a lavender London fog & key lime pie; and the wall and 2 drinks- lavender lemonade & a cold brew. We also order

We served our first dozen donuts order for a family brunch and all varieties were a hit.Venture beyond the traditional glazed and chocolate varieites for a treat. Their unique flavors are especially delicious: mascarpone, lemon bar, baklava, pomegranate and more. There's a QR code on the donut box which describes all the varieties you picked. The server gave us a free bonus donut too! We also had a positive first experience ordering the 3-piece chicken and donut meals. We sampled the plain, buttermilk and

The food was fantastic. It was hot. It was fresh. That?s not why I?m writing this review. The staff was unbelievably awesome. Helpful friendly knowledgeable but most of all sweet and kind. I hope federal donuts is taken care of these people because they are definitely taking care of us.!

This was a must try on our visit to Philly. Friendly staff and good sandwiches. Donuts were actually pretty good too! Tip: Make sure you get the donut warmed up.

The buffalo chicken slider is actually good and cheap. The doughnuts aren't great but very greasy after sitting for more than 1 hour.

I made a special trip here, walking in 87 degree weather, for National Donut Day. First, the deal offered and advertised online not being honored at this location. WTH? Second, the menu is grammatically incorrect, so I asked the cashier to clarify for me. They answered my question and I made my decision accordingly. However, sadly I was misled and ended up spending 3x the amount I believed I was going to based on the cashier?s explanation. Boo.

These donuts taste Great!!!! Located right on south street this little spot has some tasty treats!!! They have chicken and Donuts !!! Be sure to get there early for some hot fresh donuts!! The donuts taste great and are just the right size not to big and not too small. There are several varieties to choose from. But each day they choose a few to freshly make each time there ordered. This place is great for a little snack or light lunch. They do close around 6 as they are not a dinner place. The donuts pictu

IMy first visit was not too good because they got my order wrong but quickly made up for it by replacing them and adding an extra donut. I?ve tried three flavors but the lemon ricotta is my best. I could eat those donuts everyday. What a delicious way to start the new year.

Just purchased donuts & ranch chicken wings a few minutes ago. Our wings were huge and burnt SMH. Why would you sale us burned wings, just do a fresh batch. I?m back to my normal location, waste of money.

Loved their chicken bacon ranch chicken sandwich with the fries. Eat it like a "big back" ?? and no pics to show. ALL I RECOMMEND IS to go ??

Federal donuts are the best donuts in PA!! Why we don?t have it in NYC? All flavors are good and unique! Location: It is located in South St. Due to covid they only allow 5 people inside the store. The interior is nice, american vibe sort of. Service: we ordered online and pick it up and no interaction with the crew! Food: to be honest everything here is delicious! The flavors are good. They have 1 main donut batter and they flavored the donut itself. So the donut is same flavor but the flavoring such as

Michael Solomonov hit a home run with this combo. Don?t let the name fool you too much, their fried chicken is just as much the star of this shop. Dusted, drizzled or dipped in different flavors this chicken will spark the deepest notes of your palate. Then it?s almost impossible to walk out without several of their fancy cake donuts.

Overall, the donuts at Federal donuts are just good. The donut has more of a fried texture so they aren?t dry and have a slight crunch to them. However, they lack the sweetness that other donut shops have. Their chocolate frosted could have been more chocolatey but instead felt kinda plain. They are still worth trying, but they are not the greatest of all time.

The hot donuts are to die for !!! Reminds me of puerto rico and the hot donuts cart ?? The cinnamon sugar ones are my go-to. half dozen for me everytime we come to philly ! The chicken sandwich is great too !

Super delicious. Everything is fresh and delicious. We order the hot chocolate super unique. We order the hot donate started with the lavender strawberrys it was delicious the smell was heaven! Then we sorder the other 2 because it was so good. Also my husband took the hot sandwiche and really enjoyed it!

Loved Federal Donuts! Though I wish we can customize our donuts toppings ourselves. Hot donuts made upon order is one of the best thing in Federal Donuts. Their specialty donuts looks good, but a bit too cold to enjoy the donuts.

Nice donuts, must be a popular place as it was kinda crowded inside.

So of course their hot fresh donuts are delicious, and I mean melt-in-your-mouth, I-can-die-now delicious, but the people are awesome! I haven't tried the chicken yet, but I'll be back and if it's anywhere near as good as the donuts, and if the people are still there, I'm sure I'll have another five star rating to give!! Thank you!!!

Chicken sandwich was pretty good, but expensive. Music inside was deafening [shakes cane] and kid behind the counter was sort of rude [shakes cane again].

Great sweet treat destination that offers donuts in a variety of unique flavors. Tastefully enjoyed with a cup of coffee with both indoor and outdoor seating.

I thought the warm made-for-you cinnamon sugar donuts were sooo delicious but my boyfriend and mom didn?t like them as much as I did. I guess it just depends on your taste, but I loved how they are the perfect in-between type of donut: Not super cakey and also not super doughey but somewhere in between. The Vietnamese coffee was INTENSE so unless it?s really early in the morning, be aware that it may affect your sleep.. and if you are even a little bit lactose sensitive it WILL likely have you in the bathro

Loved this donut place. It was my first time in Philly and I had to finally try them. I ended up getting SIX! great flavors. The only weak link was the chocolate frosted - I thought the chocolate icing was weak and needed a deep kick of chocolate. But all in all great. Next time I?ll hit the chicken!

If your in the mood for a coffee and a donut this is the place to go. Everyone that works there is amazingly kind and professional. It has a very relaxing atmosphere, and they play a lot of modern trendy music they usually don't play other places. Their coffee is very good, Lots of people love their donuts, but I'm not the biggest fan. If you like your donuts to be more cake like than donut then they are right up your alley. I highly recommend them though especially if you just want a place to take a b

The donuts were good but my experience was soured as I ordered half a dozen donuts and only got 5. I usually check but since the the box was taped and I was the only customer, I did not think it would be an issue. As the place was empty!!! The staff was also not the nicest and clearly not paying much attention. When I came in they were talking to their friends and completely ignored me. I am new to PA and this place was highly recommended but will not be coming back.

Disney?s Typhoon Lagoon?s donut has never met its match until now. This donut (served warm) is fluffy, the right amount of sweet, and perfect all around!

Do you like fried chicken or donuts? Do you like fried chicken and donuts? If yes then go here. They do an excellent job with both. They have interesting donut flavors and the chicken is superb.

Great spot to taste-test as many donuts as possible. They are all delicious! The chicken sandwich is a great way to kick off your donut tasting experience.

I can?t wait for Federal Donuts to open at this location! If you haven?t had their donuts yet you are missing out they are the best in Phila! And their chicken sandwich is nothing short of amazing! Do not pass by one of their locations without stopping in!

Great donuts! Sadly they ran out of my favorite breakfast sandwich. Since it?s outdoor dining and waiting, they won?t come tell you if your cooked order is ready. At the same time, they will ask you to leave if you ask before your food is ready. Finally when I went in, one employee was annoyed I interrupted her conversation with a friend visiting the store. But the chicken sandwich was outstanding.

I loveeeee federal donuts. They never disappoint. I use to visit federal donuts, a couple of times a week when I lived in Philadelphia. Now that I moved every time I?m in the area. I stop by and get a couple of donuts. They just so good. They also have really good customer service at all the locations and I?ve been to all of them. I like the cake donuts but a plain freshly made donut is also great.

Very good breakfast sandwich with lots of flavor and a unique square egg, kind of reminded me of quiche. The doughnuts are super sweet and very heavy but extremely flavorful. The raspberry doughnut was my favorite with the chocolate cherry a close second.

lemon cheesecake donut was absolutely delicious. so soft and tasty. they only have filter coffee but it's good and well priced. the lady who served me was suoer friendly and the other lady was a bit sassy. thank you for explaining to me that occupied means someone's in the toilet, I had no idea! definitely worth going to.

Everything is great, BUT..IT'S SO COLD THAT even the employees are wearing scarves and hats in the store. Thus, making it an UNCOMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT to eat in, as I cannot even take my jacket off. This goes across all federal donuts in my experience.

It?s a bit expensive but the taste is worth it. The blueberry muffin donut & the pastelito are delicious. We also had a lavender lemonade drink which was pretty tangy. When I first came in I left to go the bathroom while my partner looked at what they wanted to eat. One of the workers there walked out to the lobby and watched me as I waited for it to be non-vacant. There is a ?bathroom for customers only? sign so I wonder if that was why. It was a little bit weird/rude. Otherwise our experience was very nic

Solid donut. But they gave me the wrong one by accident. Went on a Sunday afternoon and didn?t have a ton of selections left. All the flavors are very unique.

Probably some of (if not THE) best donuts I?ve had in my life. The chocolate toffee and cafe con leche ones were just so delicious ! On top of that the guys working were super friendly. If I were to spend more days in philly I would so come back for another visit ! Definitely check them out.

Very cute donut shop with well made treats! I got a pumpkin cream donut and it was absolutely delicious.

Gimme the tasty donuts. Had... Cereal milk, strawberry rhubarb, cinnamon roll, turtle, strawberry lavender, and more. All of them were superb and I would get them all again. They apparently run out, though, so I guess the move is to get there earlier in the day, however, this hasn't happened to me. The hot and fresh donuts shouldn't be slept on.

Hopped in because I saw this place in a review, totally worth the stop. They have speciality donuts and the flavours are interesting and fresh. There is limited seating available as well so a great hangout place.

Time to make the Donuts... Fresh hot doubts, how could they be bad??? Yes amazing and great with a up of Hot Apple cider!

I got the cookies and cream and wondered where hot and fresh donuts have been all my life. This is a must visit in Philly. I'm gonna be back to try the fried chicken.

Was ok, staff was not the nicest and the chicken was salty but very crispy. The strawberry rhubarb donut was awesome

The food and service were top notch!

I was having a rough day all around?had some terrible donuts elsewhere, it was incredibly hot outside, and then a bird took a dump on me ?? but luckily, it all brought me here, where I not only had some impeccable donuts, but also some impeccable service! The person working the counter was extremely sweet and generous, and recommended a stellar set of donuts. all the donuts were not only great (lemon basil, blueberry vanilla, neopolitan, and peach cobbler), but I also very much wanted to come back and taste

The host this Saturday morning was full of positive energy. Really impressive hospitality during a 1 min in & out donut trip.

Date of visit: Simple & unexciting donuts As we love donuts, we always look for unique donut shops to check out. We popped into this shop and unfortunately they did not have a lot of donuts. We ended up getting a few ? blueberry cake, strawberry lavender cake, etc. They did not have a lot of options. The donuts we did buy were okay ? not overly flavourful. They are a very basic donut without a lot of flare. They offer other options such as sandwiches. I didn?t realize this was a chain until I looked up the

I take pride in being a donut connoisseur, I've sampled the treats across the country. I would say it's BOLD for them to include Donuts in their name given their rather limited selection, both in donut variety (they only have cake donuts) and flavors. I only tried 2 donuts from this place, they were both awful. The lemonade I had from here was also OK. I suppose the fried chicken is the real draw to this place, which I didn't try, but I might recommend changing the brand to Federal Fried Chicken given how s

Went after Philly 10k run! Had blueberry donut and breakfast egg ?? sandwich! Sugar and protein after exercise!

Best insanely addictive donuts!!! Every flavor you can?t even imagine even a bacon flavored donut!

I had the Blueberry lemon donut which was phonominal!

Really, really good made in-house donuts! Unique flavors! Friendly service and good seats to hang out for a bit! Ohhhh! And they are consistently good donuts, not hit or miss! Can't say enough!

The worst experience ever. Order was unbearably slow when going please lower your expectations because I can guarantee you will wait an hour for your order that anywhere else will take 10 mins. Chicken was rancid its genuinely difficult to make chicken this bad; a kindergardener could make chicken miles better. Ordered sauce they COMPLETELY forgot it and to put the cherry on top the service was detrimental the person forgot to give us our order and walked right by it 2 times another employee who was alread

If you're in Philadelphia and looking for a sweet treat, I highly recommend stopping by Federal Donuts. You won't be disappointed! The selection of donuts is interesting, with flavors ranging from classic to more unique options like vanilla lavender. I tried a few different flavors, and they were all delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere of the shop was cozy and inviting.

Fresh donuts and fried chicken?what more can one ask for? Also, it's located on Philly's famous South Street, so you can windowshop while snacking on that fresh baked (or fried) goodness!

$3 for a donut. That tastes like grease. Total disgusting. I will never purchase anything from them again.

salad is half full and missing half the toppings. It?s just cucumber and lettuce

The service was excellent added to the freshly made donuts I got that day. Most of the specialty flavors were gone but I was able to get a key lime pie one, which had a nice key lime glaze that had just the right amount of tartness to it. My only con is that they put a crumble of something on top of some of the flavors while others, like their strawberry lavender, are a sugary coating like cinnamon and sugar. If you have sensitive teeth like me they were a satisfyingly good nightmare to eat. Otherwise I wo

This donut shop was absolutely charming. The cinnamon donuts we got literally melted in our mouths. And, they were hot from the oven! Just fabulous! I should also mention the servers were patient and utterly charming. Perfect place for a late morning pit stop.

One of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had, and the seasoned fries beats Five Guys. Possibly even the best seasoned fries I've ever had. Also, all for a super reasonable price! The chicken on the sandwich was nice quality, and deep fried perfectly with good crunchy crust on it. The French fries were savory without being spicy, so much so that my boyfriend had to lick the plate. We also picked up two donuts, always amazing. I do wish they had a set standard for the donuts, maybe I'm wrong, but

I have only visited once so you'll have to check other reviews to get a better picture. My husband and I got a few if the holiday donuts. They were very good. I wasn't able to try the chicken but there were a few people ordering it while we were enjoying our donuts. One thing to remember Federal only has cake donuts, but they were very tasty.

Fresh hot donuts were unbelievable. Cloud-like texture in the best sense. Light but super satisfying. Not overly sweet, but hits all the right donut notes. All 3 flavors (cookies and cream, cinnamon brown sugar, and strawberry lavender) were on point.

I love their sweet soy garlic chicken and warm donuts! Also, they have 5-star customer service. I ordered two chicken boxes, and neither came with the honey donut that's normally included. I called the store right away, and they said I could come back for a replacement, and when I did today, I got an extra honey donut and a fancy donut!

Great first timer experience here! We tried the 3 piece tenders dry with the bbq coffee sauce and spicy chili sauce both were super yummy with an actual spice! The tenders came with an old fashioned donut which I thought was really good! The perfect in between of cakey doughy moistness!can't wait to go back and try more!!

Very unprofessional and unwelcoming!! An employee by the name of V made our first time at this location a horrible experience!! She has no customer service skills at all!! The manager Braden was literally know better he was unapologetic about his employee V?s ignorance! I?m thankful I didn?t spend a dime there!! Avoid the ignorance this place has to offer they will ruin your day!! I definitely wanted to leave ZERO STARS but didn?t have that option!!

Had the Fishman donut. My fiance who normally hates donuts loved this one! For that reason alone I will return. I also happened to have liked the donut lol

If you think you've had a fancy donut before, I can guarantee it'll pale in comparison to these. They're famous for their chicken, but do not sleep on their donuts! And the weirder the flavor sounds, the better it is. Trust me!

The items might look colorful, but they are hyper filled with sugar and often taste the same on the inside. The venue is chillax to be able to hang, and the price is right, but I?m not sure the speciality of the donuts than elsewhere.

the carrot cake and chocolate old fashion were a hit! not too sweet, nice and moist. perfect pick me up on my break in between classes. will be back!

I thought the whole donut Fried Chicken thing was a little weird to be honest with you. I also thought the combination of flavors that they had were a little odd. I will say recently that I've been giving them more of a chance with some of their donuts are really quite delicious especially the chocolate toffee.

I went to order and I asked for a cookie and cream donut. The wait was 5min and the donut tasted nothing like I was hoping for. The donut it self was $3. I could?ve just went to dunkin and got a cheap delicious donut. I wouldn?t say this place is terrible because the donut wasn?t all that bad. If your not a Vegetarian and you like donuts that taste like French toast then you will for sure like this place.

Worth the stop if you're near one, and don't miss the the freshly fried ones.

Let me tell you the absolute truth, these are the best donuts in town. You will have no regrets, if you have the foresight to stop by and pick some up. particular deliciousness awaits coffee lovers who combine these phenomenal deep-fried sensations with the liquid elixir of life. Insiders know, if you time it just right you can also get fried chicken from these folks. But the real crux is the phenomenon that is the taste bud exploding 'flavor crescendos' produced by exceptional South Street institution.

Donuts were fresh and tasty, but only 4 varieties available at the time. Cashier was more concerned with a personal conversation with another patron than ringing us up, let us stand there for 5 minutes till she finished. Overall not the best customer experience. But the donuts we got were good

I do not care for this location. I was rushed. My food was burnt. My lettuce was like light green in my salad. They wanted me to pay extra for dressing for my salad and chicken. The chicken was salty. I ordered an hour and a half in advance and they told me oh we don?t have any more coffee hot coffee. They didn?t follow my notes so what?s the point of having a note area if you?re not gonna follow it. I asked them not to put the donut in the box and they did anyways. I simply don?t get it and then people won

Well, this place gets my award for the worst employees for 2021 I've run across. They were rude when I walked in before they opened. They made me feel stupid and told me to look at the sign on the front of the building while their door was completely open at 9:30 - This is a donut shop is it not? Really horrible choice at hiring to the management of this location. Prices are super high as well. I would think this would reflect in the people you choose to run your location. I live and work in Philly. Not a

Stick with the original sugar and cinnamon donut. (Don't get too fancy. The fresh ones are the best) I downed my Donuts with a smooth, hot, flavourful coffee. Service seemed slightly overwhelmed. The worker called me "bro" and that made me like the place a little more

Federal Donuts is a Chicken and Donut shop, a variation on the old chicken and waffles formula. Made on demand, the Hot and Fresh donuts are outstanding, especially the Strawberry Lavender ones. The various fried chicken glazes and chicken sandwiches are also outstanding. The seasonal rotation of fancy donuts should not be missed, either.

Best Donut's ever ? Great customer service lovely people..

We flew in from Denver and Federal Donuts was highly recommended from a few people on our flight. We were staying on Pine street so we stopped at the one on South Street. It definitely did not disappoint. I had a grapefruit donut and coffee and my husband had a hot chocolate donut. Laura was super friendly and gives the atmosphere a great vibe. We returned a few days later in the evening to try the chicken and as soon as we opened the door, we were greeted with "Hello, Denver!" What a nice treat to be welco

Good chicken great donuts

Everything on the menu is amazing! Hot Fresh Donuts are available and are very much as described. The normal donuts, and the specialty ones are all one of a kind. It's a must visit on this side of South St.
