The donuts and chicken sandwich are amazing. The service is terrible, the woman who rang us out kept disappearing and just seemed absolutely miserable. She was really quiet and hard to hear and not friendly. Also the interior seems really run down. Everything needs a coat of paint, there's trash on the floor, the special donuts are behind this chicken wire glass so its really hard to see them. Also my sandwich took forever and we were the only patrons there.
I went in expecting much more than we got taste wise. The good thing was the chicken was cooked fresh to order the fries had to much rosemary seasoning on them it was very powerful. They were of the glazed donuts. I was very underwhelmed with the cookies and cream and the cinnamon donut I tried. Not a place I will run back to while stopping in Philly.
Donuts are absolutely amazing and I always crave them but it sounds like a night club. I asked the employee to I lower the volume as I could not hear her and she just write out ignored me They made the donuts with sugar despite me asking for plain and wasted my time ? very sad, they need to train the employees at the very least on how to make sure they are taking the order properly. When I notified the other female employee that I wanted plain, she said you usually have to notify us if you want it plain.
We ordered a Federal Donuts wedding cake for our big day, and it was an great choice! We loved having a variety of flavors, which offered something different and fun for our guests. The delivery and setup were easy and stress-free, letting us focus on enjoying our celebration. It made for a memorable centerpiece that added a whimsical touch to our wedding. I highly recommend a Federal Donuts donut wedding cake for any couple looking for a wedding cake alternative!
If you're a donut lover this spot is for you! I am personally a yeast donut fan so I was disappointed they did not offer any except cake donuts but they offer a wider variety of decadent donuts like banana pancakes and baklava! We opted for the banana pancake and I didn't think the flavor was fully there. We did try a bit of our friends baklava and that is a highly recommend flavor! We also got the zataar fries and it was good. Nice and crunchy with good seasoning! My FAVORITE item was the early bird brea
Quite possibly the best donut and chicken place in the city. The fresh donuts are fantastic and so are the artisan donuts. If you?re trying to keep it on the cheaper side, the fresh simple donuts are the way to go. The chicken tenders are amazing, and so are the house sauces that come with. I will always recommend this place for those looking for quality chicken and donuts, and it never lets down.
Gonna be honest, this place holds up to the hype. The donuts are simple cake doughnuts, with interesting and well composed toppings. The strawberry cheese cake was so good. It hit all the right notes. But their more simple donuts, like the chocolate on chocolate, are just as delightful. Specifically, you can tell that they're made with quality ingredients. I like their chicken sandwich. I did think it would be bigger, but other than that, it was good. It was well seasoned and well cooked. Oh! And the fri
Had the Early bird. It was incredible. The red pepper relish was great and the egg was cooked perfectly. Also had a blueberry coffee cake donut and it might be the best donut I?ve ever had
This was my second time visiting federal donuts since April 2022 and it was just as good as the first time! The breakfast sandwich is so good and unique! The egg was in a fried patty form along with a pepper relish that is out of this world! I loved the bread they used! Me and my fianc?e both got a cinnamon sugar donut that is absolutely delicious! The donut is so moist and prepared to perfection! The coating was just the right amount! The cinnamon sugar donut is probably the best one I have ever had in my
Right now, literally in this moment, I need coffee. I want Federal Donuts because the coffee is surprisingly amazing and I can bring my girl a honey donut which she loves. Here?s the problem ? I don?t feel like bumping into the woman that works there. She ruins my morning, like clockwork, every time. First of all, she doesn?t acknowledge customers until she?s ready and for me - she literally refuses to speak. She walks to the register and stares in my face. No good morning, no what are you having. I was i
The place is nice. Atmosphere and service was excellent. It was my first time going to federal donuts. So this review does not compare to any other locations. There was parking outside which was great and there were outdoor seating too. The place was however expensive. I bought three items: the chicken tenders, lavender lemonade and smores donut. S'mores Donut: Cakey. Tastes good but I did not like the cakey texture. It was also $3 for a single donut, so that was expensive. Chicken tenders: The tenders don
For no reason, I waited a long time to eat here and then I read an article mentioning that their coconut curry wings are very good, so I decided to check them out, but they do not have coconut curry wings or the chicken sandwich on a glazed donut that we saw online. But service was friendly and we decided to stay. We got some over priced donuts, the best is the cinnamon sugar and the strawberry one was real good. But their sandwich was ok, nothing to brag about. Their Za atar fries is just like black peppe
Delicious. Hot fresh donuts are a little salty which was surprising but good. Brown sugar deliciousness. Chicken Sandwich was superb pickle spread was excellent and the seasoning was just right.
These donuts are definitely unique! The flavors change with the seasons, which is nice. Pumpkin was a happy sight for me as autumn just started. As odd as it sounds though, they're too sweet. They're all covered in glaze and then loaded with more toppings and drizzles...it's a lot. I could barely eat a whole one. I'm in sugar overload. But, this is simply my taste buds being a bit different. Lol The staff was extremely friendly and I tried Vietnamese Iced Coffee for the first time ever. This was an experien
Nice staff. Good cannoli donut, the rest were mediocre. The fruit donuts taste very artificial. The dirt and tahini one were a bit weirdly salty. They're all cake donuts so very filling. The coffee lids are nicely chewy, brings me back to my pacifier-sucking days.
These donuts are amazing! Super flavorful & they always throw out different flavors. I?m a big fan of the classic donuts which are the ones in my photo. Never tried their chicken, have to next time! But their donuts are a must ??
Donuts were a way too greasy and oily as its paper bag became so oily all over. The donuts from this location did not taste good as the other location in the center city next to Hilton Canopy hotel (donuts were so fresh and delicious there, not greasy at all!). I wouldn?t want to come back to this one?
I just went for the first time and this place is AMAZING!!! I tried the chicken sandwich and it was incredible. Hot, crispy, juicy, tender and flavorful all at once. I can't wait to try one of the donuts. I might go back tomorrow...
I stopped by this donut chain for the first time today to get some donuts to take home with me after staying in Philly for a couple of days. This is such a cute and clean spot. The donuts are pretty expensive $$$ for the size that you get, but they are absolutely delicious. The staff is nice and friendly too. I will definitely stop by again the next time I am in the area.
I normally love federal donuts but this was my first time at this location. I asked for a half caf americano and the employee at the counter said ?we don?t have half caf espresso?. I explained to her I just wanted a shot of regular espresso and a shot of decaf espresso. She then spent what felt like 5 minutes at the coffee machine and gave me my 20oz cup full of nothing but pure espresso. She seemed to have no idea what an americano was or what I was trying to order. There were several other people behind t
If you like sugary or sweet taste combined with other tastes such as cookie cream or peanut butter, FEDERAL DONUTS is the right place for you, because the donuts are perfectly cooked to a certain level of sweet flavors. While sipping your hot coffee at one of the tables here you may enjoy the nice donut. Price is >twice as compared to Dunkin Donuts' donuts price
When I walked in the whole place smelled of fresh baked doughnuts. It was delightful and the service was quick. I had all their cookies in cream and cinnamon sugar. Both are divine. They also have coffee to go with it. If your tired of other donut places try this place out: it scores high.
These donuts are so good you will eat them as soon as you get in your car! The cranberry white chocolate donut is so so good your eyes will roll to the back of your head when you?re eating it. OMG!
Was excited to try donuts here as it showed up on a best donuts in the state list. But......maybe it was an off afternoon late Saturday). The hot and fresh cookies and cream was overpowered with oil taste. The chocolate old fashioned was better but almost too soft and cakey. More like a cupcake. My search for best donut continues!
3/26/24 Edit - The chicken sandwiches are getting better.. we're hovering around 70% of the original sandwich quality. I'll give 2 stars for the donuts & coffee but honestly folks, DONT ORDER THE CHICKEN SANDWICH!! Once upon a time it was juicy, tender, crispy & seasoned perfectly but every one I've had over the past year is gross. What's worse is that they charge $8 for a cafeteria bun with an overdone stringy dry chunk of something resembling chicken. I tried to eat it because I was starving and couldn't
Every time I get the chicken sandwich the chicken itself is hard and rubbery ???? Other than that the donuts are amazing and great coffee
Fresh donuts from a Philly started small business! Arrived around 9am on a Sunday with no line and only one other person inside. Ordered 6 special donuts which came to $15. The donuts have a ton of flavor and really do taste like their namesake. The only thing I didn?t like was the cake like texture and heaviness. I prefer lighter airy donuts, but would definitely recommend giving these a try!
Delicious freshly made donuts ! One of the best! Coffee was not as hot as I?d like but the donuts excellent
Great amount of specialty doughnuts to choose from. The donuts are like a cake style dough. Chicken was great. Came out nice and crispy. Sauce was delicious. Sorry, chicken got eaten before I took the pictures.
3 little chicken tenders for 11 bucks! Seriously! I'm sorry, but it should say how many you get on the menu. If I would have known that, I wouldn't have ordered. Had the sandwich last time I was here, and wasn't worth it to be honest. Cold brew coffee 4.50 and it's small. 20 bucks for 3 chicken tenders and a coffee. Rip off! Never again.
8/20/17: Love the chicken and the donuts! I've been back several times to the northern liberties and University City locations. I'm addicted to their chicken and I've tried all the flavors. I like the Coconut curry chicken seasoning the best but zaatar is a close second. I've sent a ton of my friends here and all have told me how great the food is. Edit 7/4/22: I just went to the north Philly location last night. I got the chicken tenders, chicken sandwich and 6 fancy doughnuts. They have made the doughnut
I have wanted to try this place for years. Finally made it there today for a chicken sandwich, lavender lemonade, and a fresh, hot donut. It was worth the wait & every calorie! Everything was delicious. Very friendly staff. I will be back!
Our colleague from Europe said that Federal Donuts are the only donuts he?ll eat in US, others are bad. Totally agreed. Good service. Amazing chicken sandwiches! We took 2 fresh baked donuts and 6 fancy, they are all really tasty. My favorite are with berries, sweet and sour.
I?ve been coming here for years with my kids and husband. Today I ordered 7 chicken sandwiches along with a dozen donuts. EVERY SINGLE SANDWICH I GOT WAS BURNT & ALMOST BLACK. It wasn?t even good enough to eat as it even tasted saltier than usual. I?m not even driving back since I live in Jersey and refuse to go back. But come on, have some ethics. You know you burned the batch then remake it even if it takes a little longer. I called 4 times, the place is empty (cause I just left there and there?s 3 employ
The donuts are pretty good but not the best I've ever had. It was a bit pricey for what you get. The staff is very friendly though.
C'mon, it's Federal Donuts ??! What is there not to like? Every town should have a go-to donut shop and for Philly it's Federal Donuts. Yes, they have the fancy donuts for the gourmand but if you like a more traditional donut, they have those too. I enjoy almost all of them (they're not making them just for me, so that's fine - there's something for everyone... assuming you like donuts [what kind of monster doesn't like donuts?!?!]). Did I mention the chicken? Word is that it's pretty fantastic. I had a bre
Tasty fried chicken 9 different ways; 4 different dry rubs, or 4 different sauces, and plain. I preferred the middle eastern dry rub to the soy ginger sauce, which was a little too sweet.
Courteous service and patient which is necessary because of the need to ask questions about their donuts or seasonings. Unfortunately, the chicken sandwich was fried way too hard. Overall, good place to hang or bring people from out of town. Get the dry rub chicken and a hot donut.
This place is horrible the donuts are dry and the chicken is tasteless and small and all is OVER priced. This pic shows Leg breast n thigh for 10bucks. I Shoulda went to Popeyes and Dunkin. I feel bad for the lady behind me she spent 100bucks on this mess. I'm glad I can cook cuz this went to the dog.
Every time I come, the lines are long but move super quickly. There?s something for everyone with the selection, whether it?s a simple donut or one of their fancy donuts. Never disappointed, except for that I always wish I bought extra! Cute little seating inside if you?re lucky enough to nab one.
We went toward the end of the day so they were out of most donuts. The chicken sandwich was delicious but the fries were a little dry.
Fresh donuts nothing special taste different compared to dunking donuts ..they have sandwiches too .6 donutsvi paid 14 bucks.just to try it nothing spcial.
Nice building with parking. Friendly staff. Writing this as I wait for my donuts. I expect the taste to be up to par with past experiences!
I tried their coffee for the first time last month and it tasted sour. I figured it was just a bad batch and thought nothing of it. A month goes by and I tried their coffee again and same sour taste! Guys, you need to prepare your coffee better. Under extraction of the beans results in sour taste, get you ish together. The donuts however were great so 3 stars. Please fix your coffee.
First off staff was super chill especially the guy in the back. We got a maple sugar donut and a ?turtle? donut. They were gross. Got a chicken bacon egg and cheese on a potato roll, first few bites was good until my body realized what I had done to it. Same for the buff chick sandwich. Both were definitely overpriced and made my intestines turn. Had to wash it down with some apple juice.
Great service, amazing donuts, and thank you for the stickers! The blueberry donut was one of the best things I've ever eaten.
Half listened to my order so charged me for 6 individual donuts over two orders instead of a half dozen. Spent about $30 on a chicken sandwich and 6 donuts.
Went there at 3:00 and they only had four donuts options left. All of which were excellent though!
The food here is amazing! Good prices and great flavor!!! I'll definitely be coming back here!
Best donuts in the galaxy and probably the best fried chicken in at least one universe.
Best donuts in the city. Legendary. A must try if you are in the area.
Half a dozen for $9 is totally a steal for these delicious fresh baked doughnuts ???? I got Honey Glazed, Cookies and Cream, and Strawberry Lavender doughnuts and they were absolutely delightful. The Strawberry Lavender is currently my favorite ????
I placed a takeout order and picked it up. Once I got home, I realized the order was incorrect. There was only one plain donut in the bag when I had ordered 2 strawberry lavender. The donuts were a special request from my daughter. I drove back to get the right order. I told them the order was wrong, I had 2 strawberry lavender donuts and you gave me 1 plain donuts. For starters, the ladies at the front desk didn?t seemed apologetic at all for their mistake. They were smirking at each other as if they thou
Got all the variety of donuts, their fries, and their chicken sandwich. Donuts were good, but I wouldn?t have anything spectacular to add. The fries, on the other hand, were bomb.
Quite possible that Federal Donuts has the best chicken fingers on the planet. The chicken wings are also fantastic.
Great chicken. Great donuts in unique flavors. Hot coffee. A gem in the hood
OH MY! The breakfast sandwich from federal donuts might be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Breakfast sandwiches that bacon and copper sharp will never disappoint but that cherry pepper relish paired so well with everything that I may need to get that on ever sandwich moving forward. That beautiful egg had a nice crispy outside and somehow still oh so fluffy on the inside. Everything fit was well balanced and never overpowered one another, a must try sandwich! Got a few of their donuts and they we
Best fresh donuts and best breakfast sandwiches I've EVER HAD. Every star is well earned. Coffee is good too.
They didn't have a lot of donut options out to see, and it didn't look that appealing, so I didn't order anything.
Donuts are amazing! I'd always recommend them. But... The chicken sandwiches are atrocious. Ten dollars for a small donut sized bun, a non-descript sauce, American cheese, chicken tender and 3 pickles. Honestly, it's better (and cheaper) to go to Chick-fil-A. The employees are always very helpful and polite and the place itself is clean, albeit a bit outdated. Take my advice, go for the donuts, best in town. Don't get the chicken.
Hot doughnuts made to order! Is there anything better? Easy location to access, has a (fre!!) parking lot attached. Don't skip this place on any visit. And the chicken is great, as well!!
The worst federal donuts I've ever been to spent 30$ for dried /hard as a rock 6 peice wing dings combo and a frozen donut said he couldn't heat it up for me, I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich for $10 and it came with nothing on it just bread and chicken dipped in Buffalo sauce no lettuce no tomato nothing. They just laughed at me asking for some lettuce.its amazing how you are treated after you pay for your food.
$27 for a dozen donuts that we are ok, but not $27 Ok. Definitely better value and equal or better taste at other places
If I could give 0 stars I would. The food from here was GOD AWFUL. I paid almost $50 for 6 dry burnt bland chewy chicken tenders 2 cold af plain donuts and the smallest breakfast sandwiches known to man!!!!! 2???????? do NOT recommend going here AT ALL!!!! What a waste of money. So thankful I was able to get a refund.
You can?t go wrong with some fried chicken and donuts. Every time I?m in the area I always stop
We loved the hot and fresh donuts and the Nutella donut was nice and moist!
The chicken and fries are good. The donuts of course, are very tasty. The atmosphere? Not so much. It looks very dirty, nothing paint couldn't fix. The tee-shirts they have hanging (not sure if they are for sale), look cringe worthy. They scream dust mites.
The perfect chicken sandwich. Donuts are pretty great but I can't speak highly enough for the fried chicken sandwich.
First time at this location today and taste as great as the other . Delicious ??
I have been coming here since it opened. By far my favorite location. My son and I regularly come and sit down to have chicken and donuts.
This place is amazing! The service and staff are very fast and nice and the donuts are really good! Must try the cookies and cream donut and the Nutella one!
AlwaYs like these donuts, went in and out for half a dozen donuts there so sweet but ooooh so good
Service was fast and friendly! Great donuts. And there is a parking lot at 7th St. Location. Fast and friendly
Service was good but the coffee is awful. Super watery and not fresh at all. Just go for the donuts.
Not a fan of their donuts, but the chicken is good, with a nice and unique breading that reminds me of carnivals or fairs, too bad the price is a bit steep for the amount and context (elevated fastfood).
The donuts are good and all but the fried chicken sandwich ????
Great chicken. The bacon ranch chicken sandwich is mdouble deep fried with cheese. Doughnuts are good. Could have more seating
I've gotten chicken here before and it was great. However today I bought a friend and got a 6 piece wing. I got 5 drumetts and only 1 flat. Everyone know people look forward to the " flats". I think they've lost a customer because that's poor customer service and attention paid to food quality...smh.
The chicken is good but not good enough for the price. The donuts though? THE DONUTS THOUGH?? Amazing. Absolutely worth it. Fantastic. Try something that you wouldn't normally, I got a bunch of weird ones and the only one I didn't like was the chili mango donut. That one was weird, but the rest probably the best donuts I've ever had.
We must say. We were completely dissatisfied with the donuts and warm coffee. The coffee was warm at best. The donuts were dry and really not sweet at all. We have gotten better at a gas stations and shop rite. For 20 bucks, a complete rip off. Never again.
Accidentally came to this one instead of another location after a long day outside?and I?m so glad I did. The people here are SO nice. (What a wonderful representation of Philly?s kind, generous spirit.) I had a doughnut and it was better than I remembered.
Oh yum!! No wonder this place is so popular. Best donuts in Philly!!
I ordered a box of six donuts and the chicken sandwich from here. The chicken sandwich was pretty decent and some of the donuts were good while others were just too sweet with a ton of sugar on top. Despite ordering late in the day the donuts were still fresh. I ordered mine via delivery and I?d recommend going there to choose your own flavor as you could more easily choose what you?d like instead of leaving it to chance. Donuts are fancy so you?re paying for the presentation as well.
Federal Donuts is the best, and this location could not be more welcoming. My son and I look forward to stopping to see Ms. Cat together every few weeks before school and enjoying some quick time together eating a delicious donut. Thanks for being awesome.
Great donuts as always. Amazing chicken sandwich. Staff did a great job just a little on the quiet side.
Best customer service I?ve ever experienced! Elka & Brandon went above and beyond, all while being so kind! Will be coming back, these people deserve recognition!!
Just the perfect snack, great coffee, variety of donuts, the best in Philly They have good chicken too
Heaven in a Bag! The Hot and Ready Donuts are no joke and will melt in your mouth (Rooting for the Cinnamon Brown Sugar). Plus had a chicken sandwich and was good too. Good spot to answer all your cravings.
