Best donuts in Philly and in my top 3 overall- my usual go-to is the hot cinnamon brown sugar donut, it?s amazing and a must try. They have revolving ?fancy? flavors, this time I had tres leches which tasted so yum. We also had the fried chicken sandwich, it?s definitely crispy. It had a unique flavor similar to an onion ring which was interesting- however, it was a bit too salty and needed more sauce. The fries were good, nothing special although they were not the zatar fries. The interior is nice & modern

Stopped by here before the Super Bowl parade for some donuts and coffee. Everything was tasty. Service was good.

I walked by this place and thought that I definitely had to try it. They seem to be supportive of Pride too which is great. They do classic cake donuts, which usually aren?t my favorites, but these were so good. I had the cherry one, and that was top notch. Their latte is also very good.

Donuts were awesome! Freshly cooked and delicious! We ordered classic sugar cinnamon and strawberry lavender donuts. The sugar cinnamon donut is pretty delicious. But, strawberry lavender donut was so so.. I couldn?t taste the lavender at all. I am not big cake base donut. The staffs were super friendly and nice. The service was pretty fast and the place is pretty clean.

Had one of the worst chicken sandwiches I?ve ever had here. It was like half-cooked. I?ve been to this location many times over the years, and the chicken sandwiches have honestly been that outstanding, but this one was particularly gross. I guess Federal has always served these cuts that are really tough and hard to chew, but it does seem like quality has gone down in recent years. I know they have scaled up their business a lot. I certainly wouldn?t recommend this to anyone visiting Philly anymore.

Went on a Sunday morning around 11am and the line was long but it moved quickly. The donuts were very creative flavors and the strawberry lavender flavor was delicious freshly made and the chicken sandwich was also good. I was also surprised at the reasonable prices in the city. The coffee, however, was terrible - so bad that it spoiled an otherwise 5-star experience.

Best cake donuts I've had. The chocolate glazed is very chocolatey but not too sweet. Cherry cheesecake has a nice moist tangy yet fruity taste. Highly recommend these domuts

I stopped by Federal Donuts as part of my first timer experience in Philly. The donuts were very good but what stood out to me was the customer service and friendliness provided by the staff. I wish I would have asked for the cashier name but she was so friendly and guided me on the recommendations on which donuts to get. Left feeling really good afterwards highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food and better customer service. Next time I?m in Philly I?ll be stopping by again??

Never ate there. The Federal Donuts used Doordash which has the worst delivery and reviews. I gave specific instructions to hand deliver. I?m at my place of business sitting behind my desk on the phone. It happened to be a co-worker who saw my Federal Donuts place on the visitors table. The delivery person Hassan never came to my desk to hand deliver my bag. I don?t know how long it was sitting there. One of my donuts was half out of the small paper bag was wet with it raining. Poor packaging. It?s a shame

Ngl probably the BEST traditional donut I have had in a very long time! The frosting and flavor is AMAZING for every donut. The staff was so kind with reccomendations and telling us they do hot chocolate with syrup instead of powder! Would stop by again for sure

I had caught wind of this place before visiting Philadelphia, and going out of my way to make a stop was well worth it. I was there too early for fried chicken (will definitely try next time though), so I got two donuts. The first was the Cinnamon Oatmeal donut. Very cozy and quaint with about 10-15 small chairs inside and few tables on the street. Came after lunch, so wasn't crowded. Was immediately greeted and the menu was straightforward. A great place to get fresh donuts while in Philly! The flavors are amazing! They also make donuts fresh to order so you get to eat them hot! The staff is terrific and the place is kind of hip too! A bonus is that they make incredible fried chicken! A must ry when in the area!

I love Korean fried anything. These donuts are so decadent. The tender texture stays fresher longer than any other donut I?ve bought either. Because yes I had to buy a half dozen and no I don?t have roommates. These puppies were soft and yummy for a good three days. Fun seasonal and standby flavors as well. Shop is open and flat. Space between tables and donuts are easily viewable.

It's a must stop for me when I'm in Philadelphia! The freshly made warm doughnuts are so fluffy and the sugar coating goes so well with them! They make a decent chicken sandwich - not as good as chik fil a, but still good. I also like their donuts especially the salted chocolate. Their twice fried chicken may not be for everybody, but it is still worth a try. Seating is limited so this is a great takeout spot for lunch time.

The donuts were delicious, especially the hot and fresh donuts coated in sugary goodness (cinnamon sugar and cookies and cream)! The staff were amazing and super accommodating when they were out of something I'd ordered online and I'll definitely stop back in when in the area!

Their donuts were pretty good, but I expected them to better due to all the hype I had heard about this place. These seemed more like cake donuts than yeast risen donuts, which I personally don't prefer as much. The warm cookies and cream donut was good especially since it was fried right there, but I would have thought there would have also been some sort of cream filling or something to make it more like cookies and cream. Not bad though... Just not as amazing as I would have expected.

Simply delicious. Donuts, fried chicken, drinks. When we went they had 3 flavors of donuts. We tried strawberry lavender and cookies n cream. The donuts are made fresh to order; you watch them drop into the oil right in front of your face. Melt in your mouth. Heavenly.

There was a big hype about eating here but I was a little bummed. The chicken was waaay to salty and some of it didn?t look appealing. As for the doughnut that?s a different story but of course it is a doughnut place. It lived up to its reputation. The doughnuts were fluffy, nice and airy. Definitely will return for doughnuts not so much for chicken.

Without a doubt the crispiest, tastiest fried chicken I?ve ever bitten in to. The crunch was like in 3D surround sound! Inventive flavors and seasonings too. Couldn?t go past some doughnuts too, real fresh, real hot. I don?t mind saying that all that fried food gave me some wicked heartburn after, but it was totally worth it!

I LOVE their donuts. It's definitely worth the hype. They have really good flavors. Do not miss strawberry lavender donut(it's fresh and hot) and Mississippi mud(this one - OH MY GOD!!). Getting Fed Donuts whenever I visit Philly is something that I love to do. The donuts are always delicious and I enjoy trying different types of donuts. It?s so fulfilling and eating a single donut can have me stuffed for a while. The coffee at this spot too is worth trying. The coffee isn?t the reason I?d go back here, the donuts would be why I keep coming, but the coffee is definitely a good side-kick to the donut. If you haven?t been to a Fed Donuts before, it?s a must try!

Over the counter fried chicken and donuts. I didn?t even want a donut and then I tasted the cinnamon brown sugar donut and it was delicious, light fluffy freshness. Chx sand was recommended and was a really good lunch. Hip vibe good music vibrant atmosphere.

Friendly staff. Delicious warm donuts. Off street metered parking available in the surroundings but not in front of the restaurant. Cash and cards are acceptable as forms of payment. If you're in the Philly area, you must try it. Bon app?tit!!!

Went early in the morning to get donuts and their chicken sandwich. Ordered the porter?s peep donut. The flavor and taste of it was out of this world! The chicken sandwich was fine.

These doughnuts are among the best I ever had. I went for the vanilla potato chip and the classic chocolate cake and it was all about as good as it gets.

Good fresh donuts. My forever favorites are the lavender & hot pink sugar! This location does have the good to go app, cheaper priced donuts at the end of the night, help eliminate food waste! Half dozen on the app for $4.99 but paying full price is worth it also.

Best donut place in America! First, the employees are super friendly. Second the food is just amazing. The donuts are freshly made and melt in your mouth. I also ordered the chicken sandwich and it was really tasty. Not greasy at all. I wish I could eat here every day.

My husband and I are not in agreement about the goodness of this place. He likes a lighter donut, while I think a proper donut is better ?cakey,? and with standout flavors. If you?re like me, you will love this place; if not, you?ll be less enthusiastic about it! The coffee was good, too- drank it black, so there was no hiding a bad roast. managers here are so sweet, staff is great, food is consistently good BUT they changed the ranch!!!! federal ranch was my favorite in the city, consistent at all the locations until recently!!! it used to be obviously house made and delicious. it is obviously some kind of wholesale condiment now!!!! not nearly as good and kills the whole experience as a ranch connoisseur. PLEASE SWITCH THE RANCH BACK!! love this chain but need the old dressing!!!

Federal donuts is on my short ?must stop? list when I visit Philly. The hot donuts are amazing (try the strawberry) but my favorite item ? by far ? is the breaded chicken sandwich. It?s amazing and puts Chick-Fil-A to shame. Mmm... ????

Forget about the donuts when you come here and get their crispy chicken sandwich combo with zataar fries. This is also the best location i tried in philly for dining in. Seats are plenty and comfortable. It closes earlier than some of their other locations though so keep that in mind before making plans.

What donuts dream of becoming. Haven't tried all their chicken flavors, but they were all great! Spent the whole summer of 2014 binging for myself and the office. Keep it up guys! Twist on the classic chicken and waffles BUT with a side of delicious donut pairing. Since the chicken and most donuts are Made to order, the fried chicken depending on the dry or wet rub/flavoring ya decided to get, can be a hit or a miss. So choose wisely.

I came here today to try some donuts after hearing all the hype. This establishment has a wide variety of flavors, which I really appreciate. Found this place on Google Maps, a few blocks from my hotel. Amazing donuts. Not the traditional flavors but definitely ones that are memorable! I like donuts that have cinnamon sugar and the granular textures. The cinnamon brown sugar was great and one of them more familiar tastes. I was in town and this place came recommended for a good quick breakfast. The donut was amazing! I got a coffee cake donut, it was warm, flavorful, and quite moist! Sadly, I dropped a star off because the coffee was horrible. It tasted like they burnt some coffee, then made another batch of coffee in the same pot without cleaning out the burnt coffee.

These were a bit of a let down. We tried their Cinnamon Sugar, Strawberry Lavender, and Cookies & Cream, all hot and fresh, but weren't wowed by any of them. Perhaps their pre-baked options would be a better choice, but I don't think we'll be going out of our way for these cake donuts again.

I finally tried this place! It was delicious!! I visited a newer location at the Whole foods Market near the Parkway. The chicken is as good as I hoped-crispy, flavorful and all together satisfying. Definitely recommend!

We we so excited to try this place from rave reviews about the chicken and donuts. Unfortunately maybe we just got unlucky with the chicken sandwich since it was a little overdone and only enough chicken to cover half of the bun :(. Get the donuts, this business should stay away from poultry. I don't know why people spoke positively of it in other reviews - absolutely vile chicken sandwich. Reheated, flat, unevenly cooked. Unmelted American cheese with a spray of some liquid that's supposed to be sauce and sweet dill pickles. Go to Popeyes and spend less money for better food.

Came here because I heard they had some good fresh and hot cake donuts. I wasn?t disappointed. Every donut here is delicious, absolutely worth the stop if you're in Philly. Seating in this small space was fun, luckily we came on an early Saturday morning so it wasn't too crowded. My friend had a savory sandwich from them and said she enjoyed it a lot.

We went in the evening and ordered hot fresh donuts. They were prepared on the spot. We tried all three flavors. Although they were made fresh there was a bit of a taste that seemed stale. Perhaps it was due to the oil. Also: the different flavors come from sprinkled sugar. No frosting. Altogether the donuts were just okay.

I had to see if the fried chicken sandwich lived up to the hype. The potato bun was a nice touch but the chicken was on the dry and tough side, despite the attempts to soften it with pickles and the house sauce.

I always eat from here as it is really convenient from my job in Rittenhouse. The customer service is amazing shout out to Zach, Lexy, Jeremy and the other ladies whose names I can't remember lol. Some say NY donuts are the best, but after the disappearance of Underwest donuts in NY, there has been no cake donut to replace it. Federal Donuts can easily fill that space, if only they?d move to NY.. one can be dream.

I'm not a big donut fan, but this friendly stop on our walk around Philli was perfect. The warm donuts and tea were just the thing. They have limited seating, but you are not coming here to camp, you are coming for a quick snack and moving on.

Tried the fried chicken wings, pomegranate tahini doughnut, sweet potato pie doughnut, and fresh made plain doughnut. This place is worth the hype. Wings were massive and came with a chili garlic glaze. While the fried chicken is good, the doughnuts were especially memorable. Unique flavor combinations at very reasonable prices. Definitely check it out if you're craving something more than your run of the mill Dunkin doughnut. Only docking a star because I think it is overpriced.

In my opinion a doughnut should be eaten fresh out of the fryer and piping hot. This is what you?ll get at federal donuts. Dunkin doesn?t even come close. If you?re in philly and you pass this place on a brisk morning, be sure to grab a cup of coffee and a hot donut!
