It?s a small calm, mom and pop kind of vibe to it. Very chill laid-back. The food was amazing. The chicken sandwich phenomenal, and the coleslaw was crispy. Just how I like it. The donuts dumb was good. I started eating before I even got to take a picture. lol .. FAT DOUGHNUT I?m coming back lol .
Ordered a maple donut. I like the consistency, is not doughy. Enough crisp on the outer part and chewy on the inside. The maple scent is just right gives a compliment to the doughnut, not too sweet and enough glance on top. The atmosphere is great to sit have a coffee and work remotely. Staffs are friendly and give good recommendations based on your taste. Highly recommend to visit!!!
I love this spot. It?s by far the best donut you can get in town. I always go for the maple glaze and it never disappoints. Is it a bit messy? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. A thousand times yes. Their coffee isn?t bad either! And it?s nice that they provide some seating and tables. I didn?t visit for most of winter and it looks like they?ve added new donuts! I?m excited to try them all.
Large, fluffy doughnuts. PILLOWS OF SUGARY GOODNESS. The maple glaze is to die for. They are pretty greasy, and delicious. Super satisfying to eat. I've only ever had doughnuts from here. Definitely worth it. It's a good thing i don't live in the neighborhood.
Great fresh local donut spot. Dulce de leche photographed. I?ll be back to try the chicken sandwich for sure
My 9 year old daughter says: IF YOU HAVEN?T TRIED THESE DONUTS YOU HAVE NEVER LIVED. They are pieces of beautiful fluffy dough that crunches when you bite it, with sugary flavor. It is by far the best donut ever. ??
Best donuts I?ve had in my entire life! They are fresh, soft, pillowy and delicious every single time. The maple glaze is phenomenal and all the others are a very close second. Everyone who works here is always friendly and welcoming, love popping in!
I stopped by to try a couple of their donuts. The coconut donut was good, but the strawberry filled donut was amazing. The texture of both was fantastic but the strawberry had actual whole strawberries inside, not just strawberry jam. These were properly cooked strawberries, not fresh ones. That would just be strange. I can say that it was probably one of the best strawberry donuts I've ever had. I'm glad I don't live near this shop, otherwise I wouldn't be eating them nearly daily.
staff can be a little slow and inconsistent but i think it?s just the vibe. the breakfast sandwich is really good and all the doughnuts are def worth trying. coffee is super strong and even though there seems to be some loitering there?s generally always space to eat
What to get: coconut donut and an iced coffee for ~$7. How it turned out: small batched, old fashioned donuts with a good chew. Generous size and very satisfying. I do feel a little guilty eating these, wish they were a bit smaller so I could try a variety.
Owner is such a sweetheart. I had an oatmilk latte and my daughter had an oatmilk hot chocolate on the first visit with a cinnamon roll and maple glazed donut. Second visit had a walnut glazed twisty thing, oreo cookie donut and original glazed (all pictured). Each donut had a nice crispy outside and a soft inside. They are pretty big too so ideal for sharing OR having your own sweet tooth indulged. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Bedstuy!
I come here every Sunday to get donuts because in my opinion it is the best treat you can have on the weekend. The donuts are big, not expensive and very flavorful. I would highly recommend this spot to others. Also congrats to them for being #12 in the Top 15 donut spots of NYC!!!?
This is what a neighborhood doughnut shop should be :). Unique, no frills and delicious!! Breakfast platters and sandwiches are fantastic too (and if you see the pierogis on the lunch menu, that?s a must try)
Got the maple glaze and apricot! Really well filled and the chewiest yeast donuts I?ve ever had! Texture is AMAZING. I can tell a lot of work is put into the dough. Huge donuts that are quality ?? good for sharing!
The Matcha Donut wasn't too sweet nor oily. The mouthfeel was nice and chewy and the color of the frosting was quite vibrant. For a donut that cost $3.75 it was quite big. I can't wait to try the other flavors.
I didn't know about this place until we saw it walking by one day with our dog. Now we go and grab some cinnamon rolls, cinnamon sugar donuts, and a small cup of fresh pot coffee every chance we get. Can't wait to try their muffins and cakes too! And will also say their maple glazed donuts are fantastic as well :)
Been in Bed Stuy for six years and this is the best bacon egg and cheese on a croissant that I?ve had in that time. Thanks y?all ??????
Just had an exceptional and very savory dinner with my son, so my tastes buds were , insistently, whispering "we need some lil sweet treats" ! Looked through what was close to me (with parking) and found this place. Wasn't too impressed with the exterior, but that hasn't stopped me before (excuse me, I'm getting off my high horse). Very tiny inside, but when I saw those fluffy pillowlike doughnuts, I was drooling. I ordered the maple glazed my son had a chocolate frosted. Delicious, yeasty, not too sweet,
Love this place. Wish they had old fashioned donuts chug otherwise, perfect.
Nice place, loved that coconut doughnut! And that Red velvet cookie! Milk chocolate chunks, dark chocolate and white chocolate
The only problem is they do run out sometimes, so just try to have a plan. It?s a small place, so I have a backup plan if I want to bring them somewhere. Always worth stopping by though. Also, I often cut them in half when I bring them places as they are big and people don?t always want to commit, so a box ends up serving a lot of people.
I & my BF ran into this doughnut store. They had only few kind/amount of doughnuts due to quarantine situation. We got blueberry one, chocolate one and a coffee. Both doughnuts were so yummy! Especially doughnut part was perfect! fluffy, moist, and not too oily. Glaze parts were not too sweet *?v?* The coffee was really aromatic! In addition, a man who was working there was nice and friendly. We?ll back again!
Go for the donuts - maple donut was great, but the matcha donut was too sweet and not authentic matcha flavor. Salmon and cream cheese bagel was a disk of cream cheese with 3 slices of salmon. Bagels were tough and hard, more of a roll than a bagel - would not recommend.
It's funny, I order delivery from here often and the food is usually pretty decent ? greasy af but seasoned like people who grew up in the South. But when I decided to go in with my sisters and get it fresh for the first time today, the experience felt like typical New England racism. Passive aggressive, begrudging, but happy enough to take your money ?\_(?)_/? I knew the vibe as soon as the attendant took a full 3 minutes to acknowledge us, despite there being no one else in line. But giving it a chance as
Years ago I ordered a lox bagel from here but they were out so I got whitefish which i'd never had before and just from the name I probably never would have thought to order? It turns out I like whitefish a lot! It turns out that's an ideal fish slime for breakfast time. So I came back a few other times hoping to get more of that good white slime I like so much but they were always out, I kept doing this until the guy behind the counter told me they aren't buying any more whitefish because it's not very pop
Food is great but the hours are terrible the should open earlier serving breakfast, knowing the two corner stores next 2 serve old nasty food that?s sits for weeks out in the open uncovered
Absolutely delicious donuts with creative flavors, and incredible traditional babka. Compared to Dough, this place is more homey and the donut base itself may be better.
Really great donuts, thick but fluffy and sweet. Bought 3 to share between two people and it was perfect.
Delicious, I kind of don?t want to tell too many people about this place because it?s such a treat.
The doughnuts are excellent, the price very competitive, the coffee tasty.
Wow, I?m at a loss for words. Got a maple glazed at 8AM and that bad boy was still warm and soft. Melt in your mouth good. $3.50 for the donut doesn?t even seem so bad considering it?s enormous and most other gourmet donut places are charging $4.50 - $5 now
Amazing donuts. Larger than the competitors, and more fluffy and airy. For example, Dough in Bushwick is great, but their texture is more chewy and dense. These are much lighter.
I can?t recommend the cinnamon sugar donuts enough. The coffee is pretty good too.
Fat Doughnut is making everything from scratch, using family recipes. It can't be compared with highly processed and overpriced full of chemicals Dunkin products. Where else can you get freshly baked brioche toasts for your sandwiches and French toasts? I order an egg sandwich on a croissant often - buttery and flaky! If you ordered a take out or delivery, your croissant will get soggy and gummy. Homemade food has to be inconsistent because it's fresh and not a cookie cutter prep from the outside corporate
The best Cafe in Bed-Stuy. Great value and lovely staff. Food is delicious too!
Fat Doughnut has perfected donut dough. There is no better donut dough in all of the land?perfect taste, perfect squidge, perfect chew. Other donut places try to make up for their subpar dough with fancy glazes and fillings, but that?s not needed here- the simple glazed or maple glazed donuts are utter perfection and must be tried to be believed. Highly recommend. Better than any other glazed donut in the city imho
I could not find even ONE healthy dish on either the breakfast or lunch menu here. Healthy is a relative term, so maybe being vegetarian limits the scope of what is healthy in my case, but just in case you are looking for something without meat and even moderately healthy, you won't find it here. Every dish is meat, except one which is deep fried fish sticks. Everything else is with bacon, pulled.pork, or chicken. Also, the croissants are gummy and not a flake to be found. The basic glazed donut is bigger t
Great donut flavours and the dough is excellent. ??
Always loved these doughnuts but man today was special. I really needed a chocolate doughnut in my life but got there and they were sold out, HOWEVER they offered to go make me one and I?m so grateful ?? BEST
Served me a 200+ degree drink (the photo shows the milk skin that formed because it was so scalded. It's not good when your huge doughnut tastes like cigarettes.
I love Fat Donut. It?s never too loud and always super chill. The guys who work there are so nice and play Willie Nelson bangers.
This is a great Brooklyn donut that every option has the flavors exactly where they need to be
I ordered today via doordash and these donuts did not disappoint. Im so glad I didnt listen to negative reviews. Im a pastry chef and I really appreciate a well made flavorful dessert. These donuts were fresh, pillowy soft, and the glazing was perfect. The maple came through on the maple glaze and a faint vanilla came through on the plain glaze. My sister tried the strawberry and literally said ?wow? after her first bite. I think some things to note in ref to the negative reviews is 1. Time- when ordering d
Wow! I came here because I saw it on Yelp, and I arrived around 1:30PM on Sunday. Sadly, there was only one Boston cream donut and a cinnamon roll left, and there wouldn't be new ones until an hour later or more. It wasn't too much of a trek out here for me, but since I was already there, I wanted to get a donut. So, I ended up getting the Boston cream donut, even though apparently they're known for the maple donut. The donut was delicious though, as it's almost like bread. The cream wasn't too sweet which
The BEST doughnuts in NYC. Consistently delicious, never dry, always fresh. Such a great price too! Service is always friendly!
Strong delicious coffee. A doughnut that did not disappoint
This is my go-to coffee shop, the guys that work here at this point know my order by heart and even notice when I haven't been around for a few days. It's small - but comfortable and doesn't have all the frills and tassels that some coffee shops feel like they need. They do have wi-fi if you need it and a few books if you're really into that. As for the food I usually stick to the maple donuts (really good sized, soft, chewy, old fashioned!) I've been coming here for the last 2 years and honestly don't p
This place is awesome! It?s only a short walk from me and they got top-tier doughnuts and coffee. Went in this morning and expected it to be packed. It surprisingly wasn?t! A line almost out the door for BK Bagels, a place two blocks away that gave me two eggs and bacon (?) sandwiches instead of BECs (how that?s possible in nyc I?m not sure) and no line for these amazing doughnuts?! Make a line folks! Get these doughnuts!
One of the best donuts I had in the area
I?ve gone here so many times in the past 3 years. My text receipts from whatever their POS is has like 20-30 messages. I have never once been disappointed and always been impressed and happy with the service, food, cleanliness of the place, and decor.
Not a doughnut guy, but I tried them, and they are huge and pretty good. His bagels are different, fluffy, but they're not bad, all his portions are generous. The real highlight here is the owner, who is super nice. There are just so many businesses run by people who don't treat their customers right, like neighbors, like fellow human beings, that very specifically act like their entitled to your patronage...don't support them! Not when a guy this nice is pouring his heart out into his business.
Had the BEST breakfast sandwich today! Friendly staff, fast service, and good espresso.
I was driving by after delivering a nice settlement check to one of my clients in the area and this donut shop caught my eye. After all, who can resist a "Fat Donut." Certainly not me. I went in and instantly saw that this was a unique gem. I bought three donuts and a coffee (two Boston creme and one filled with strawberry preserve). Boy oh boy was I happy I stopped by. The donuts were HUGE and most certainly fat. One donut was like the size of two or three from Dunkin. As soon as you bite into it, the crem
Delicious, fresh and just the best d?nuts ever. Always make sure to grab a donut and an iced coffee when around. That Cinnamon sugar donut is to die for.
By far, the best doughnut NYC has to offer. The doughnut is soft, fluffy, just the right amount of chewy-ness, perfect amount of sweetness, and big! The owner is amazing, waking up before sunrise and hand-making all the doughnuts from scratch daily! I?ve been going to this doughnut shop for years and the quality has not decreased one bit! That?s impressive. Customer service is on point. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Donuts: 3.5 stars Variety: 1 star Price: 3.5 Stars? Egg sandwich is about $7 but decent size for the price. Not worth going out of your way to check this place out, which is what I did. There's good donuts all over the place. Another reviewer mentioned Boston cream. Got here 30 min after opening to "we don't have it today." No place with donut in their name should have such a limited selection.
Love these donuts. Delicious and tasty. Freshly made. I treat myself after a good long run .
I had these donuts on a visit to NYC two years ago. I?ve dreamt about them since. Finally came back for two more today, and they are still by far the best donuts I?ve ever had. Pillowy, sweet, flavourful perfection.
Just spent a few years in LA where the donuts are plentiful and amazing and now I?m back in Brooklyn and so glad to have found this spot. Fresh, pillowy donuts, that are nice and fat as advertised, good variety of toppings, and well balanced flavor. Big fan of this spot!
These donuts are so good and filling! The maple glazed is delicious. The secret is in the dough - it?s a thick substantial donut but it still melts in your mouth. Get there early because they run out quickly.
The donuts were amazing, fresh and soft! There was a nice variety of interesting flavors. Good value too (they were huge). My new go to spot. (The coffee and black current punch was also really good).
I stopped by for my first time today, and I'm really happy I did. I believe it was the owner who helped me, and he was so nice!! The doughnuts are huge and absolutely delicious. The matcha and maple doughnuts were my favorite, but the dulce de leche was good too!! My oat milk cortado was yummy, and he made me an americano instead of waiting for a fresh pot of coffee (pro tip). Definitely stop by and show some support if you can.
Good donuts, guy behind the counter was very nice.. My only issue is they a lil expensive
Incredible, a must go! It?s not cheap so bring $$ but worth every dollar!
I don?t really give low reviews but I don?t get the point of this place. They literally have 2 doughnuts every time I go there and the employees don?t even know how to wrap them properly. First Time i got 3 doughnuts and they wrapped them individually in a paper bag, so naturally all the glaze was wasted to the paper. Don?t they use boxes? Second time coming today they had 2 doughnuts to choose from. So definitely not coming back.
Exceptional doughnuts! One of the best doughnuts I've ever had. The dough is soft, a bit chewy (in a good, delicious way!) and fluffy. Great selection (going in the morning guarantee you having more flavors). The maple glazed douhghnuts are my favorite. The owner is very kind and hard working! Go try them asap!!!
Fantastic glazed and cinnisugar donuts. My coffee spilled in the bag but it didn't get to the donuts. As good as dough.
BEST Doughnuts in NYC our family loves them!!!! Good prices and amazing friendly stuff! Highly recommend!
I purchased the maple doughnut which was warm and reminded me of Krispy Kreme's hot donuts (just bigger). Service was good. Would like to see more of a selection of donuts, but no complaints. They were out of the chicken ravioli soup which means I have to return!
Amazing donuts, with great variety. Baked fresh in site, and it really shows. Probably the best donuts I've ever eaten. Make sure to get there early to have access to the whole section, because they go fast!
Donuts are decent, rarely fresh though. Everything else is also just okay. Cool local coffee shop, but the lunch really needs work. Giant chicken sandwich and didnt cut it in half :(
Ok so the maple glazed donut is on point and the strawberry jelly filled donut had actual strawberries!! It is a Ma and Pa establishment with all kinds of love poured right into their donuts! The only drawback is that the donuts sell out quickly so you may not get your hearts desire and have to settle for a second choice
Real Donut Critique: Out of all the donut shops on Grub Street's top NYC Donut List the donut here is probably one of the largest on this list (even more so than Dough Doughnut's). It's raised yeast so it's very chewy and soft. It's more akin to a high quality sourdough sandwich bread. I had the tres leches iced donut. It was very satisfying, though I would suggest more icing due to the size of the donut. I also had the strawberry jam filled donut. I do not recommend this donut as the filling is the all-too
Well to each their own. I walked in not being a big fan of doughnuts because almost no one makes a really perfect dough. I saw the owner pulling a fresh tray over to be glazed and I asked if I could get one with just cinnamon sugar. He made one for me (I had to wait 5 minutes because they were too hot to eat). I specifically asked for this because then you can taste the doughnut itself not hiding behind a sugar bomb. Like I say I rarely like a doughnut but I have had one or two that were good. So this dough
Was just there. They recommended the sausage on a roll. And really said it was good so I went for it and got it. Its just a really bad 10$ hot dog with thousand island sauce. Dont recommend. Steer clear from this at all cost. The perogies were good. Have to give them that hence the 3 stars instead of 2 The doughnuts are very good but sometimes undercooked...
Best donuts in the neighborhood, Elija do the best hot chocolate ever. The maple syrup donut is one of my favorite and what I like the most is they are fresh and homemade. Definitely my fav place.
Nutella donuts! Huge! Same high quality as Dough, much cheaper though. 2 donuts + 1 lg coffee = $6.50. So many flavors too. As if that's not enough the staff gave me a free cookie. Highly recommended!
Giant donuts for $3 a pop. They make other pastries, but I've just tried the donuts. Had a Maple glaze, cherry icing, matcha, lemon, vanilla. You really can't go wrong with any of the choices here. Pleasant owner and fast service
Great service, doughnuts are ??! I love the maple glazed, and Boston Keene! Great coffee too! I love dippin? n sippin with muh douhnuts!!! Try to get there early they tend to sell out thru the day.
Great place!!!! My family and I , order here all the time . Owner is extremely welcoming and pleasant. Donuts are one of the best I?ve ever had my favorite is the butter glaze my brother gets their crepes and loves them . I Recommend this place !
honestly? one of the best doughnuts i?ve ever had. would be 5 stars if there was more variety & if they had bec available (came too close to opening). will be back!
Yo, this place makes the best doughnuts I have ever had. I really like the chocolate almond doughnuts and the maple glazed. If you want a real treat though, they have these filled coconut doughnuts that are just to die for. Besides what I just mentioned though, they have so many different flavors it's impossible to try them all. These doughnuts really are something special, they're just the right amount of sweet and NOT TOO SWEET as many places are. The best part is the dough, its so light and fluffy yet f
Pretty oily and, despite their branding, often the donut's large size is from an inflated dough and not a thick, consistent dough. If it was cheaper then it's 3-4 stars ... but at $4 a pop...
split a maple and cinnamon sugar doughnut with my brother. not sure if they always make them fresh to order but they didn?t have any doughnuts ready to sell, they were made to order when we went, SO GOOD. I?ll definitely be back and can?t wait to try other flavors.
I really wanted to like this place, but was hugely disappointed. The donuts are too thick and just taste like oil. Really not pleasant. Nice staff and loved the free coffee with purchase, but donuts themselves are not good.
I was not a huge doughnuts fan up to the moment I met Ilya and its gems at its very own beginnings in 2017 ?? The doughnuts are marvelous, and you just can't get enough of them! Special mention to the Tiramisu one which is extraordinary. It's a very welcoming place, and all the products worth the travel wherever you live in the city ????? Bravo!
Donuts are amazing here. It's really the texture--chewy, fluffy--that's fantastic. Their bread is great too. When our friends visit Brooklyn we bring them here!!
We came to buy some doughnuts during Covid so it was basically empty. Their doughnuts are always freshly out of the oven. They're hot, super huge and delicious! The staff was super friendly and helpful!
