This is a great neighborhood bakery. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. I really enjoyed the Red Velvet cake and would definitely buy one again. The Apple Turnover was also delicious.
Made daily sub rolls, are fresh and chewy for a great sandwich. Donuts are made with quality ingredients, real chocolate and Apple fritters are delicious and huge. Family business that cares and has quality products at a great price.
Really great prices and a great selection of products. Had an apple and cream fritter. I can't say the ratio was well balanced ( the ingredients not being mixed or layered) but for the price I'm definitely not complaining. Looking forward to coming back and trying other things.
Don?t judge a book by its cover! You will almost think the place is closed down. But the sub rolls are fresh and you can fill a bag. And the doughnuts are wow
So much better than dunkin' donuts! Totally worth the drive and love supporting local. The apple fritter is ginormous and is less than $2. They have fresh bread and I'm sure that the cakes they make here are amazing too.
Stopped based on the positive reviews and that I prefer these types of bakeries. The photos must be old because there isn?t the assortment as presented. Even though I didn?t purchase, they have the biggest elephant ears I?ve ever seen! Very nostalgic to see them? Mix of strudels, donuts, cookies, and bread were available. Not sure if I?d go out of my way to stop again. The donuts and strudels tried were fresh and edible?
Homemade glazed doughnuts are very good. Coffee roll too. $3.00 glazed. Bread is tasty. Old lady up front is rude, unprofessional, so be prepared. UPDATE: $3+ Glazed and most other pastries. Still tasty though. Update: Lady has adjusted her attitude I must say ??. Their stuff still delish, though!
No frills small business serving baked goods and donuts. Had the apple fritter and it was huge! Probably the best I?ve ever had! Reasonable prices too. Bring cash if spending less than $7. Inside could use a little updating is my only complaint about this place.
On this day it was a bit of a miss. A fair number of gnats flying around the donuts. One doughnut was solid - toasted coconut, the other, looked old and tasted dry - glazed. I could see some of the glazed looked fresh, others not so much, and she have me the older ones. Those should probably be tossed or given away. The lady seems sweet, but the place is a little rough.
Poor service and donuts were stale. Only two stars because there bread or pastries MIGHT be good.. Doubtful.
There was so many options of donuts I found it hard to choose. I landed on a chocolate donut and a sprinkled donut. Luckily, when I visited, there was a very patient and sweet lady working the counter. The donuts were very tasty, consistent and thick. It only took a single donut to fill me up. I already plan on going back once in a while, there baked goods looked pretty good. I arrived as someone else was leaving, so there was no waiting around. And another person came in and picked up an order I believe, s
No frills interior but AWESOME Donuts and fresh rolls (while they last). Literally a mom and pop shop with extremely reasonable prices and excellent baked good. Great as a work treat for the office or a guilty pleasure.
The regular glazed donuts are a delicious classic. They taste soo good. Gotta get there early they will sell out by 10 am most days. Soft fluffy chewey simple but perfect.
On our first visit, we bought some of the bread rolls, a doughnut, two muffins, a ham and cheese croissant, and a butter croissant. Everything we bought was flavorful. The highlight for me was the croissant because it was exceptionally flaky. Layers and layers! Better than most of the big, fancy bakeries I've been to in the DC area. The blueberry muffin was also great. Not cloyingly sweet so we could still taste the blueberries and whatever the delightful base flavor in their muffins is (vanilla but somethi
I have been going here for years, that i am almost offended that someone gave them "two stars". If you have not actually tried their pastries, have you really tried this place? I even bought all their danishes for a holiday work party last year. My coworkers loved them! I feel like the happiest kid when I stop by here in the mornings (I'm a full grown btw). I love all the pastries, donuts, and cookies! And everything gets put out fresh in the morning. Definitely worth a try if you have not been, And they
As someone from New England who has a serious soft spot for Mom and Pop Donut Shops this place is perfect. I order a plain glazed yeast donut and cup of coffee to go. No regrets, was exactly what I wanted. I was under the credit card limit so I grabbed a box of cookies. THESE COOKIES ARE DANGEROUS! Way too delicious and went perfect with the coffee too. Will be returning without a doubt.
Far and away the best coffee in town. The baked goods are amazing and the couple who run it make everyone feel like family. I recommend a giant cinnamon roll and a big cup of their signature coffee to make you day wonderful!
Just found this bakery on a friend?s recommendation. Service was quick. We had six donuts and a pastry, all were top notch! Selection is a bit limited, which is to be expected during COVID, but they still had the major donut food groups covered. Can?t wait to return; it?s worth the detour to bring donuts to work!
Family Bakery is a low key "Neighborhood Bakery". It's a 1/2 block off Richmond Hwy. You can get 2 giant glazed donuts & a bottle of chocolate milk for $6.78. You can't do that at Krispy Kreme.
Showed up at the place at 7:30 on a Monday and most of the donuts aren't ready yet. The cranky lady who must be the owner says they wouldn't be ready until 8. Now don't get me wrong, their donuts are very good, but who the heck has time to wait till 8 on a Monday to come in and buy them? I mean most people have work. The place doesn't even open until 7:30, so you would think with all that extra time, when all of their competitors are open for hours before them, that they would have their stuff ready when th
Great spot for a wide selection of baked goods, especially my addiction to glazed doughnuts. Get them early, or they'll be gone for the day; the regulars know they're unquestionably better than Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. Also, Mrs. Doughnut is very nice, and will remember you if you visit regularly.
Cute, inexpensive, tasty. We went in the middle of the day on a weekend and there were still plenty of doughnuts left. There is a credit card minimum.
Family owned, such nice people, great service, and an amazing variety of options. The donuts are incredible but definitely don't overlook the containers of chocolate chip cookies either! Croissants, cannolis, fruit tarts, and more!
These are the best apple fritters I have had my entire life! They?re HUGE and so moist the dough melts in your mouth. Cinnamon throughout the entire fritter. It?s absolutely heaven.
If you like apple fritters, these are one of the best in the area. They?re crispy, enormous, packed with apple and surprisingly cheap. The rest of their donuts above average, but damn their fritters are tough to beat.
Best donut place in the world!! The people who run the store are so kind and take so much pride in what they do. I?ve been coming to this place for over 15 years. Definitely better than the chain places!!! 10/10 would recommend
Great place to have a quick donut or buy bread! I just wish they had a more robust selection of coffee, lady was sweet at the and respectful at the counter.
Crazy good donuts especially the glaze
Went all the way there to order a birthday cake cause her website says they make birthday cakes. I went in and ask her I like to order a cake. She said NO we don?t make cakes. Very nasty . I went out got in my car and looked up above the door and there is a big banner that says we make Birthday cakes and wedding cakes and so on. So I went back in and said well why do you have a big banner above your door . She said that?s old like I told you we don?t make cakes. I said well take it down and change your webs
Went in for rolls, ended up with those and a New York cream cheese pastry. Looked too good to resist. Totally worth it! ??
Nice, friendly customer service. The donuts were tasty and priced well as well.
This place is great. Much better than a mediocre dunkin. Plus they have other baked goods. Best place I've been to for classic donuts in the northern VA area.
First and last time here... We bought a dozen donuts and several pastries at 9am on a Sunday morning. All were stale and tasted like they were made the day before. We ended up throwing most of it away.
I took my daughter here to get a donut to share because we were in the area. The store was so filthy, it was clear they hadn?t cleaned in a very long time. If the store front is that dirty it only makes me question how well they clean their kitchen. I will not be returning.
I bought a selection of doughnuts and coffee cakes to share at work here and they got rave reviews! Great service and very decent prices as well.
Great pastries, cakes, donuts, coffee, and breads. Early morning everything is fresh and out of the oven! Sweet lady at the front and great customer service. Great place for those who have a sweet tooth!
Came over to get a few pastries after class. Great little place and fantastic prices. Worth the stop.
It's not obvious that the baked items are good, but they're actually amazing, especially when fresh in the morning. It's better and cheaper than Dunkin donuts.
Great doughnuts and bread. The owner's work way to hard and very long hours. Cut your hours to 9-5 pm M-F, Sat. 9-2 pm and be closed on Sunday. And, close the week of Xmas thru the New Year. Lady up front is burnt out! God bless them.
We?ve been coming here at least once a week for the past several months, and we love it every single time! Every baked good that we?ve tried has been delicious, never over-priced, and the woman at the front is always very friendly!
We have been all over and no bakery compares to Mrs Donut. Lin does an excellent job at what she does, and that is making people happy with her apple fritters.
The toasted coconut donut tasted like feet. I had to spit it out. The sprinkles on the vanilla tasted like wax. The donuts were all very stale.
One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. I grew up in the area and every time I think of good donuts I think of this place.
Love going here every Saturday to get one of their famous apple fritters. They open at 7:30 am on Saturday's. We love this place.
The only place I know that has real donuts. And, they aren't overpriced. Very fair prices for everything there. Great bakery.
Ridiculously good pastries. Also good Donuts. If you're spending less than $10 you need cash. My solution is always to buy more Donuts
This place has gone down. I went here for the first time since the pandemic. I saw a roach crawling around on the counter. The lady of the place acted as though she didn't see it. Well...the customer behind me didn't either. I will not be going back.
The Bread, Doughnuts, pastries, CAKES, etc. are all first class and the service is also exceptional. My first choice for the Best Cakes anywhere.
So this is a right sized bakery. Every item is quality made and tasty. You do need to come early, as the best goods go fast.
Simple go to doughnut place for no-frills pastries. Reminds me of the ma and pa doughnut shops when I was a kid.
This bakery is the worst I?ve ever been to, it looks dirty inside and the old lady will discriminate on you instantly. I do not recommend it all. Take your money elsewhere.
Wow...definitely would give the chain shops a good run for their money. Taste amazing, quality amazing value for money, outstanding. Taste buds in heaven
Great prices and really fresh baked goods. Well worth the stop if in the area. We went twice in two days.
Fluffy delicious donuts!! If they had a restaurant new design, it would be the Hot spot for everyone and I would have given five stars.
If I could leave LESS than 1 star. I would. I called, for the first time today and asked did they have a particular pie. With an attitude she snapped and said no. Before I could ask about other items they might have, she hung up on me
Small family owned business with BIG tasty treats. They make bread daily which sells out.
Great cake donuts. Vietnamese coffee is excellent. I've never tried shouting else.
Great little bakery. The hoagy rolls and donuts are wonderful. Will definitely return.
Nice place, good prices. Donuts were tasty. Will be going back soon
Why go to Dunkin? or McDonald?s when you can get home-made, local baked goods and a coffee here?
Legit doughnut shop and small family bakery. No frills and prices from the 90s.
The apple fritter is the best thing I ever tasted soooo good go there and get on and you will be sad when you finish it
One of the best doughnuts I've ever tasted. If not the best.
Did not want to take order and stated to come back in the afternoon. What a waste of time. It could have taken 1 minute to take my order.
A nice hidden gem in Alexandria. A little no frills bakery with yummy donuts.
This is an excellent "mom & pop" bakery. Always fresh and massive pastries.
This place is great. Large selection of doughnuts and deserts.
These are some of the best donuts that I have ever had.
Delicious pastries! I love the rum balls and the chocolate muffins!
Looks like there's different management or just something different there..I didn't like it very much!????
Always enjoy getting freshly made doughnuts!
Great local place. Awesome doughnuts and coffee.
Have your place in line ignored over others. Rude service.
Amazing Vietnam coffee and fresh home baked donuts
Awesome ??! Everything fresh and good quality taste ??.
Best bakery I?ve ever eaten at.
Best Apple Fritter in Northern Virginia
Love the donuts and cookies!
That's a good doughnut
